“The vegetarian (vegan) diet does not only help with our spiritual practice, it also keeps us refrained from killing, thus spared of the karma. If we believe in the Buddha, turn around to practice the Tao and repent our past evil deeds, then our karma will definitely be erased due to the compassion of the Buddha. Otherwise, sentient beings will follow their different karma. If they do not get enlightened and practice spiritually, their karma will not be changed and they have to remain in transmigration.”

“The sentence we speak can be helpful to others or harmful to others. When we speak good about others, people will be happy. When we speak bad about others, they will be angry. If we gossip around, we will make karma of the speech. Arguing and debating with others also creates division and confusion. Therefore ‘the Bodhisattvas are afraid of the causes, while sentient beings are afraid of the consequences.’ As spiritual practitioners, we should pay attention to the causes. Before certain things are done, the Bodhisattvas already know what kind of cause and effect would be created under the circumstances, so they never make a violation.”

“‘Faith leads to truth, and sincerity brings miracles.’ If our heart is truly sincere, then we will sense all kinds of auspiciousness when we recite the name of Amitabha Buddha. So we must believe that Buddhas are all pervasive. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are omnipresent. Only the sincerest heart can communicate with them.”
