Buddha or Buddha Gautama, also known as Shakyamuni Buddha, was a great spiritual master from ancient India. The rich treasury of Buddha’s spiritual teachings on universal truths are studied and revered to this day for their deep wisdom and compassion. Today we would like to share with you the sage doctrine of the Buddha as he spoke with one of his disciples, King Pasenadi of Kosala. “A person who is wise, out of regard for his own good, should always show due respect for a serpent, a fire, with high status, ＆ a monk, his virtue consummate. So do what is admirable, as an accumulation for the future life. Deeds of merit are the support for beings when they arise in the other world. Restraint with the body is good, good is restraint with speech. Restraint with the heart is good, good is restraint everywhere. Restrained everywhere, conscientious, one is said to be protected. Afterwards it’s bitter for them: evil for them the result. Heedfulness is the one quality that keeps both kinds of benefit secure - benefit s in this life ＆ benefits in lives to come.”

Buddha or Buddha Gautama, also known as Shakyamuni Buddha, was a great spiritual master from ancient India. Born as Prince Siddhārtha Gautama in 5th century BC. The prince one day left the palace life in search of spiritual knowledge. After years of contemplative seeking, the Buddha attained great enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Today we would like to share with you the sage doctrine of the Buddha in the holy Tipitaka, excerpted from the Cula-dukkhakkhandha Sutta – The Lesser Mass of Stress. “I have heard that on one occasion the Buddha was staying among the Sakyans at Kapilavatthu in the Banyan Park. Then Mahanama the Sakyan went to the Blessed One. Mahanama said to the Buddha, ‘What mental quality is unabandoned within me so that there are times when the mental quality of greed invades my mind and remains, when the mental quality of aversion, the mental quality of delusion invades my mind and remains?’ ‘Mahanama, that very mental quality is what is unabandoned within you so that there are times when the mental quality of greed, the mental quality of aversion, the mental quality of delusion invades your mind and remains. For if that mental quality were abandoned in you, you would not live the household life and would not partake of sensuality.’”

“‘Nhimbe’ means people working together with a common goal, emphasizing the direction they want to go. And this is why we named the project Nhimbe for Progress.” “The overall goal of Nhimbe is to uplift the people in Zimbabwe, and really recognize our spiritual relatedness, and how we have something to offer each other. Some things they’re lacking. Some things we’re lacking. And through this co-creative experience, there’s an exchange going on, and it’s a very powerful exchange.” Nhimbe for Progress is a project of Ancient Ways, a US-based non-profit organization founded. “We thank Ancient Ways for working so hard, continuously assisting us to be able to achieve these good things.” With blessings from God, may Ancient Ways and Nhimbe for Progress continue to successfully create a better life for disadvantaged people in Zimbabwe in the future.
