Selection from Zoroastrianism’s Sacred Menog-i Khrad: Chapters 31- 40, Part 1 of 2

Zoroaster was a prophet who lived in ancient Iran around 1800 BC. The teachings that emerged from His visions of God have become known as Zoroastrianism. Zoroastrian theology’s main tenets include the existence of one God and the personal happiness or reward that is the natural outcome of using one’s free will to formulate good thoughts, good words and good deeds. Respecting all life, Zoroaster was Himself a pure vegetarian and forbade all animal sacrifice. His universal philosophy is believed to have influenced Greek thought and major revealed religions of the world.

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 3, Surah Ali-Imran, Part 2 of 2

To Allah belongs everything in the Heavens and everything on Earth, and to Allah all events are referred. And obey Allah and the Messenger, that you may obtain mercy. And race towards forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden as wide as the Heavens and the Earth, prepared for the righteous. Those who give in prosperity and adversity, and those who restrain anger, and those who forgive people. And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins. Allah loves the doers of good. Allah is your Master, and He is the Best of Helpers.

Writings of Bahá’u’lláh: The Seven Valleys, Part 6 of 8

Peace be upon him who concludeth this exalted journey and followeth the way of truth by the lights of guidance. The wayfarer, after traversing the high planes of this celestial journey, entereth into the City of Contentment. In this valley he feeleth the breezes of divine contentment blowing from the plane of the spirit. He burneth away the veils of want, and with inward and outward eye perceiveth within and without all things the day of “God will satisfy everyone out of His abundance.” From sorrow he turneth to bliss, and from grief to joy, and from anguish and dejection to delight and rapture.

Writings of Bahá’u’lláh: The Seven Valleys, Part 5 of 8

An exposition of the mysteries enshrined in the stages of ascent for those that seek to journey unto God, the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MERCIFUL, THE COMPASSIONATE! “Thou Whose Essence alone can lead to His Essence, and Who transcendeth all likeness to His creatures.” The references that have been made to the degrees of mystic knowledge pertain to the knowledge of the radiance of that Sun. Consider these matters in the spirit of enquiry, not in blind imitation. A true wayfarer will not be deterred by the impediment of words, nor daunted by the sway of insinuations.

From the Holy Bible: The Book of Isaiah, Excerpts from Chapters 60-66, Part 1 of 2

Isaiah, son of Amoz, is one of the most celebrated ancient Jewish prophets, believed by scholars to have been a vegetarian. The book of Isaiah tells us that God will restore justice and righteousness to the people of Israel. The day of that judgment is called “the day of the Lord,” as God’s compassion will take the form of a new Messianic King. Christians believe that this refers to the coming of The Worshipped Lord Jesus Christ, and that through Christ’s suffering, humankind will fully receive salvation. Thus, the Lord’s new and righteous kingdom on Earth is the glorious ideal depicted in the book of Prophet Isaiah.

Selection from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Book “Nature”: Essays “Discipline” and “Spirit,” Part 2 of 2

Each creature is only a modification of the other; the likeness in them is more than the difference, and their radical law is one and the same. So intimate is this Unity, that, it is easily seen. For, it pervades Thought also. The eye, - the mind, and these are incomparably the richest informations of the power and order that lie at the heart of things. That spirit creates; one and not compound, it does not act upon us from without, that is, in space and time, but spiritually, or through ourselves: therefore, that spirit, that is, the Supreme Being.

In view of the significance of nature, we arrive at a new fact, the nature is a discipline. This use of the world includes the preceding uses, as parts of itself. Space, time, society, labor, climate, food, locomotion, the animals, the mechanical forces, give us sincerest lessons, day by day, whose meaning is unlimited. They educate both the Understanding and the Reason. Every property of matter is a school for the understanding, - its solidity or resistance, its inertia, its extension, its figure, its divisibility.

From Judaism’s Holy Tanakh: Book of Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) – Selection from Chapters 1-7, Part 2 of 2

Better a poor and wise child than an old and foolish king, who no longer knows to receive admonition. Also every man whom God has given riches and property and has given him power to eat thereof and to take his portion and to rejoice with his toil; that is a gift of God. For let him remember that the days of his life are not many, for God is testimony of the joy of his heart. It is better to hear the rebuke of a wise man than for a man to hear the song of the fools. Wisdom is good with a heritage, and it is a profit to those who see the Sun.

From Judaism’s Holy Tanakh: Book of Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) – Selection from Chapters 1-7, Part 1 of 2

The Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh, and the ancient writings of the Talmud, embody the beliefs and practices of Judaism. The Holy Tanakh’s Book of Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) was written at around 450-200 BCE. The author is not clearly known but introduces himself as a son of King David. The Book of Kohelet emphasizes the importance of living in wisdom and righteousness by keeping God’s commandments, as the author relates his own experiences and the lessons from them. These sacred writings also remind us the earthly life is ephemeral, whereas the House of God is everlasting, and that no matter whether we are wise or foolish, rich or poor, we all are to be humble before God.

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – “The Song of the Staff,” Part 2 of 2

Milarepa then said, “You offered me food and lodging, and l preached for you. This relationship is important. He who reveres and rejoices in the Dharma (true teaching) and has faith in it at all times, is planting the Seed-of-Dharma from which the lnnate-born Wisdom will grow in his future lives. He who has rightly made a good wish, does not have to learn many teachings.Nor must he associate with his Guru for a long time. If the outer conditions and the inner seeds of one’s own mind meet together, thought temporarily one may go astray, the power of the seeds-of-the-wish will eventually bring one to the right path.”

Oh, my proud and arrogant patron, Listen to me, you rich man of Ngan Tson. In this month of spring the peasants Of Tibet are busy on their farms. I, the Yogi, also farm. Upon the bad field of desires, I spread the fertilizer of the Preparatory Practice; I wet the field with manure of the Five Nectars; I plant the seeds of the Non-confusing Mind, Farming with discriminative thought. I plow with Non-dualistic oxen Harnessed to the Wisdom-Plow, With Observation of Precepts as the rope, And Non-distraction Effort as the girth. Diligence is my cord, and skill my bridle. With these tools and efforts, the bud of Bodhi sprouts; In due season ripe will be my fruit. You are a farmer who grows annual crops; For eternity I cultivate.

Selection from Meister Eckhart’s Sermons “The Attractive Power of God” and “The Self-Communication of God,” Part 2 of 2

Selection from Meister Eckhart’s Sermons “The Attractive Power of God” and “The Self-Communication of God,” Part 2 of 2

The soul has by nature two capacities. The one is intelligence, which may comprehend the Holy Trinity with all its works. The second capacity is Will. Its essential characteristic is to plunge into the Unknown which is God. The Unknown God imparts His impress to the Will. The soul is greater by its love-giving power than by its life-giving power. Thank God, while you are in time, that He brought you out of non-existence to existence, and united you with the Divine Nature. But if the Divine Nature be beyond your comprehension, believe simply in Christ; follow His holy example and remain steadfast.

It’s Not Too Late to Get Enlightenment, Questions and Answers, Part 5 of 5 Nov 26, 1994, Thailand

Actually, you are already liberated, just you don’t know. So, you need clearing, with the initiation and the meditation process, to clear your vision. Not only you are liberated, your deceased relatives, many generations, will also derive from your merit and be liberated as well. That’s guaranteed. But to become a Buddha, it tales maybe longer. Because you have forgotten that you are a Buddha for a long time now, it takes a long time to remember again. That’s why we need to meditate every day. Because the teacher is responsible for your liberation and will take you out of the transmigration after you leave this world.

Because the real transmission doesn’t need language - and then you will be awakened. Your spiritual wisdom opens and you might see the (inner Heavenly) Light and hear the Self-Nature. Like the Buddha said, “Listen inward, listen to your Self-Nature.” Or, like in the Bible, it says, “the Word of God.” These Lights from Heaven or from Buddha’s Land and the melodious teaching from Heaven or from Buddha’s Land, it is our own Self-Nature, and that will make us wiser and freer each day. And then, more and more we will rely on our Self-Nature and our Self Master inside, and the outside Master is only standing by and helping.

It’s Not Too Late to Get Enlightenment, Part 3 of 5 Nov 26, 1994, Thailand

The Buddha has 84,000 methods to teach the disciples. I think I'll make use of every one of them. Anything that can help sentient beings to realize their true nature and leave aside the attachment at the end, it is a good method, it's a good way. It is the same way of learning, just a more charming, more attractive way of learning. Just a way of putting color into this miserable situation and trying to make the best out of our lives while we are waiting for our final liberation from the physical prison.

It’s Not Too Late to Get Enlightenment, Part 2 of 5 Nov 26, 1994, Thailand

Spiritual practice concerns the mind, not the body. After the mind is controlled, the body is controlled. That’s why we do not emphasize to people that they have to practice the position first, but we emphasize that we will give you the extra controlling power, so that at the beginning of your practice you can immediately calm your mind and have an immediate result of enlightenment. We help you to unlock your controlling power from the higher source of the Buddha Nature, or what we call the Kingdom of God in different religions. The secret is we know the way. If we don’t know the secret, it doesn’t matter how hard we try, how sincere we are, we will not have results, as we wanted.

It’s Not Too Late to Get Enlightenment, Part 1 of 5 Nov 26, 1994, Thailand

That’s the trouble with our world. Everyone is so humble and so shy to express our feelings and does not try hard to achieve what we want to do. Our shyness and fear sometimes inhibit us and let us get stuck in our daily routine despite our eagerness to find some new solution or some new meaning to our life. And that’s also the reason why I think many of us cannot attain enlightenment, even though the Buddha has promised that every one of us will become Buddha. He is the one who became the Buddha, but we will become Buddha. He said all of us have Buddha Nature.

Selection from the Book of Lieh Tzu: Chapter 1 - Heaven’s Gift, Part 2 of 2

In infancy his energies are concentrated and his inclinations at one- the ultimate of harmony. Other things do not harm him, nothing can add to the virtue in him. “Dying is the virtue in us going to its destination.” The traveler who forgets to go back is a man who mistakes his home. If one man mistakes his home, the whole world disapproves; but when everyone under the sky mistakes his home, no one is wise enough to disapprove. Only the sage knows whom to side with, whom to reject.
