Twenty-six-year-old Andrea Meza was recently selected as Miss Universe 2021 among 74 other contestants. Ms. Meza promotes a plant-based lifestyle to her 1.1 million followers on social media and speaks out against gender-based violence. She also works closely with the gender equality organization the Municipal Institute for Women to reduce violence against women in Mexico.
After accepting her crown at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, United States, she shared her excitement, saying, “It is a dream come true to wear the Miss Universe crown, and I hope to serve the world through my advocacy for equality in the year to come and beyond.”
