From the Book of the Secrets of Enoch (vegetarian): Excerpts from Chapters 1-20, Part 1 of 2

The Book of the Secrets of Enoch, also known as the Second Book of Enoch, or Old Bulgarian Enoch, is an ancient religious text which describes the intensity of the Antediluvian (pre-Flood) time period. The Book of Enoch contains unique material on why the Great Flood was morally necessary, why some angels fell from Heaven, and prophetic revelations of the thousand-year reign of the Messiah. “And those men took me thence, and led me up on to the third [realm], and placed me there; and I looked downwards, and saw the produce of these places, such as has never been known for goodness. And I saw all the sweet-flowering trees and beheld their fruits, which were sweet-smelling, and all the foods borne by them bubbling with fragrant exhalation. And in the midst of the trees of life, in that place upon which the Lord rests, when He goes up into paradise; and this tree is of ineffable goodness and fragrance, and adorned more than every existing thing; and on all sides it is in form gold-looking and vermilion and fire-like and covers all, and it has produce from all fruits.”

From Alice Bailey’s The Reappearance of the Christ: “The Doctrine of the Coming One,” Part 2 of 3

We now continue with the mind-illuminating and still up-to-date spiritual revelations from the book “The Reappearance of the Christ.” The second part of “Chapter One – The Doctrine of the Coming One” will reveal to us more on the way of the Messengers of God, when They come down into our world by the deep invocation of the Earthlings’ souls. In particular, Alice Bailey writes about the Avatar of Love known as Lord Jesus Christ and predicts His reappearance on Earth. “Ever down the ages, and at every great human crisis, always in the hours of necessity, at the founding of a new race, or in the awakening of a prepared humanity to a new and wider vision, the Heart of God – impelled by the Law of Compassion – sends forth a Teacher, a world Savior, an Illuminator, an Avatar, a transmitting Intermediary, a Christ. He gives the message which will heal, which will indicate the next step to be taken by the race of men, which will illumine a dark world problem and give to man an expression of some hitherto unrealized aspect of divinity. Upon this fact of the continuity of revelation and upon the sequence of this progressive manifestation of the divine Nature, is based the doctrine of Avatars, divine Messengers, divine Appearances and Saviors.”

Selections from “The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment - Chapter 3: How to Listen to and Explain the Teachings," Part 2 of 2

00:12:21

Selections from “The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment - Chapter 3: How to Listen to and Explain the Teachings," Part 2 of 2

3. How You Actually Listen Relying on the Six Ideas “Think of the instructor as a doctor. For example, when you are stricken by a severe illness such as a wind or bile disorder, you seek a skilled doctor. Upon consulting your doctor, you are greatly delighted and listen to whatever your doctor says, revering him or her respectfully. Likewise, seek in this way a teacher who imparts the teachings. Once you have found your teacher, venerate your teacher with respect and do what he or she says. While doing this consider it a privilege, not a burden. Think of the instructor's explications as medicine. Just as a sick person has a high regard for the medicine prescribed by a doctor, so too, you should view the instructions and explications that the instructor gives as very important, taking great pains to hold them in high esteem, and not squandering them by lapses such as forgetting them. Think of earnest practice as the way to cure your disease. Likewise, earnestly engage in practice after you have seen that you cannot vanquish such afflictions as attachment without putting into practice the instructions given by the instructor. Think of the Tathagatas as excellent beings. Develop respect by remembering the one who set forth the teaching, the Bhagavan [Buddha]. Wish that the teaching will endure for a long time. Think, ‘How wonderful if, in dependence upon studying such teachings, the Conqueror's teachings would remain in the world for a long time!’ Furthermore, when you explain or hear the teachings, if your mind and the teachings remain separate, then whatever is explained will be inconsequential. Hence, listen in such a way that you determine how these teachings apply to your mind. In brief, develop the spirit of enlightenment, thinking: For the sake of all living beings, I will attain Buddhahood. In order to attain this, I must train in its causes; for this, I must know those causes. For this, it is evident that I must hear the teachings. Therefore, I will listen to the teachings. Remember the benefits of hearing. Eliminate the faults of a vessel, and so forth, and listen with great delight.” How to Explain a Teaching in Which Both the Teaching and Its Author Are Great Contemplating the Benefits of Explaining the Teaching “It is very beneficial to impart the teachings without concern for worldly things — profit, honor, fame, and the like.” Developing Reverence for the Teacher [Shakyamuni Buddha] and the Teaching “When the Bhagavan [Buddha] set forth the Mother of Conquerors [the Prajhaparamita], He performed such acts of respect as arranging the throne himself. Likewise, since the teachings are respected even by Buddhas, when you explain the teachings, be very respectful of the teachings and the Teacher [Shakyamuni Buddha] as well, remembering His good qualities and kindness.”

Selections from the Holy Qur’an: Surah 31 Luqman

The gentle Prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him, was a beloved Master who led by His own shining example. His noble teachings live on in the hearts of people today, inspiring them toward a peaceful path to find the Most High. We now invite you to listen to excerpts from the Holy Qur’an: Surah 31 Luqman. “But for those who believe and do good works are Gardens of Bliss, where they shall live forever. The promise of Allah is the Truth; He is the Almighty, the Wise. He created the heavens without pillars that you see and cast on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. We gave wisdom to Luqman (saying): ‘Give thanks to Allah. He who gives thanks, thanks only for himself, but whosoever is ungrateful, surely, Allah is the Rich, the Praised.’ Allah has knowledge of what is innermost in their hearts, But most of them do not have knowledge. To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. So do not let the life of this present world delude you, nor let the deluder (satan) delude you concerning Allah.”

Understanding the Mayan Calendar: Selections from “The Book of Destiny: Unlocking the Secrets of the Ancient Mayans and the Prophecy of 2012” by Don Carlos Barrios (vegetarian), Part 1 of 3

Understanding the Mayan Calendar: Selections from “The Book of Destiny: Unlocking the Secrets of the Ancient Mayans and the Prophecy of 2012” by Don Carlos Barrios (vegetarian), Part 1 of 3

The ancient Mayan civilization, known to be one of the most technologically advanced of its time, originated in Central America and southern Mexico several thousand years ago. The Mayan people were highly developed in many fields, such as a hieroglyphic writing system, mathematics, sculpture, and medicine. In “The Book of Destiny: Unlocking the Secrets of the Ancient Mayans and the Prophecy of 2012,” author Don Carlos Barrios provides us with an account of Mayan tradition that was passed to him by his respected Mayan spiritual mentors. The book covers different aspects of Mayan life and spirituality, including the Mayan cosmo-vision, the Cholq'ij calendar and prophecies of the Mayan people. According to the author, the Maya have 20 different types of calendars. One is the fixed Ab’. “This calendar consists of 360 days plus another five known as the Wayeb, a time for introspection, meditation, and resolutions. During these five days known as the Wayeb, people would shut themselves in their home. They would fast and drink only a beverage made of maize and dedicate their whole time to go back and recapitulate their life. ... This is a very important practice to stay well and in complete harmony with ourselves and with the world that surrounds us.” “Another widely used calendar in the Mayan culture is the Cholq’ij. Mayan Elder Don Pascual explains. The Cholq’ij is mathematically perfect; changes never have been and never will be made to it. Its precision is the result of centuries of observation and study by great Mayan astronomers, astrologers, mathematicians, and wise men. It is the perfect instrument for understanding our purpose in the marvel that is life. It is the best gift our Grandfathers could have left us. -- Don Pascual, Mayan Mam sage.” “Our primary mission is to keep a record of time and count the cycles because they contain the history of the world. Every cycle or fold in the infinite spiral of the great Kan [macrospiral] is an eternal return that results in similar events in the following cycle. This is what makes it possible for us to know our destiny: just as we know the path that the Sun and Grandmother Moon trace as they come and go day after day, so do we as humans come and go. This is the way in which we know how to cast a fortune and predict events.”

Tuning in to the Higher Frequency of Spiritual Wisdom: An Interview with Mr. James Bean (vegan), Part 2 of 5

Today we will continue to explore further avenues of spiritual Truth. “I was initiated by a Master by the name of Swami Sant Sevi Ji back in the early 2000s, who I consider to be my primary initiating Master. And this was after being absolutely blown away by his teachings. He’s pessed on now, but he’s from the Maharshi Mehi branch of the Sants.” “On the inner Sound, one of my favorite Buddhist texts is the ‘Surangama Sutra,’ which I believe is a Sanskrit spelling, but it means ‘Quan Yin’ in the Chinese, I believe. It’s all about gaining enlightenment through transcendental hearing. That is an amazing book, wherever it came from. It’s an ancient text.” “It’s a pretty rare text, and it also talks about the vegetarian (vegan) diet and so it’s a very interesting book! It’s my favorite Buddhist sutra.” “Everything to do with (inner Heavenly) Sound and Light and world scriptures, it’s my focus, and that one is a very, very deep book.” “And indeed, the Surangama Sutra of the Buddha is a vegan text.”

Selections from The Zen Poetry of Dōgen (vegetarian) – Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace: Part II, Chapter 4, Part 1 of 2

Selections from The Zen Poetry of Dōgen (vegetarian) – Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace: Part II, Chapter 4, Part 1 of 2

Zen Buddhist Master Dōgen Zenji was the founder of the Sōtō school of Zen Buddhism in Japan, which promotes sitting meditation as the way to englightenment. The Buddhist Master was one of the most remarkable Zen Masters in history and was also an outstanding poet. Master Dōgen Zenji was best known for zazen meditation as well as for his poetry that acts as a complement to the enlightening experience. The book, “The Zen Poetry of Dōgen – Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace,” was compiled by Dōgen scholar Dr. Steven Heine. It is a complete translation of Dōgen’s collection of thirty-one-syllable Japanese poetry, or waka, plus a translation of a selection of the Master’s Chinese verse, or kanshi. We now share with you excerpts from Part Ⅱ, Chapter 4 of “The Zen Poetry of Dōgen – Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace.” “The mountain filled with leafless trees, Crisp and clear on this autumn night; The full moon floating gently above the cluster of roofs, Having nothing to depend on, And not clinging to any place; Free, like steam rising from a full bowl of rice, Effortless, as a fish swimming and splashing back and forth, Like drifting clouds or flowing water. If you take this portrait of me to be real, Then what am I, really? But why hang it there, If not to anticipate people getting to know me? Looking at this portrait, Can you say that what is hanging there Is really me?”

Studies in the Scriptures by Charles Taze Russell: The Divine Plan of the Ages - Selection from Chapter 5, Part 2 of 2

We now continue with the fascinating analysis of the Holy Bible by Charles Taze Russell, selected from Volume 1 of his “Studies in the Scriptures” titled, “The Divine Plan of the Ages.” “This was truly a mystery never before thought of - that God intends to raise up not only a deliverer, but a deliverer composed of many members. This is the ‘high calling’ to which the consecrated believers of the Gospel age are privileged to attain. Jesus did not attempt to unfold it to the disciples while natural men, but waited until they were anointed - begotten to the new Nature. From Paul’s explanation, we know that none but ‘new creatures’ can now appreciate or understand this high calling. He says: ‘We speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom [plan], which God ordained before the world unto our glory; which none of the princes [chief ones] of this world knew; ... as it is written, ‘Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him;’ but God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit.’” “But God’s plan will not always be shrouded in mystery: the dawn of the Millennial Day brings the fuller light of God to men, and ‘the knowledge of the Lord shall fill the whole earth.’ The Sun of Righteousness, which shall arise with healing in His wings, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, is the Christ in Millennial Glory - not the Head alone, but also the members of His body; for it is written: If we suffer with Him, we shall also be glorified together. ‘When Christ, Who is our life, shall appear, then shall we also appear with Him in glory;’ and ‘Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.’” “Then the ‘mystery’ will have ended; for the world will have come to see that it was the Spirit of God in Christ, and the Spirit of Christ in us - God manifested in the flesh - which they had hitherto misunderstood.”

Selections from "The World’s Advance Thought" – a Periodical by Lucy A. Mallory (vegetarian): On Love, Part 2 of 2

00:12:52

Selections from "The World’s Advance Thought" – a Periodical by Lucy A. Mallory (vegetarian): On Love, Part 2 of 2

“Love is all sufficient to itself. Love makes perfect. When Love has become conscious in us, then is life joyous in all its expressions. Keep the mind filled with kind, loving thoughts and you will never be burdened. The Angels of the Lord will bless you! The difference between an Angel and a devil, is that the Angel makes a Heaven out of a hades, and the devil makes a hades out of a Heaven.”“Love knows. Love satisfies. Love yourself: Love is a Reformer. Love is the Creator. Love overcomes death. Love prevents old age. Love transforms all enmity. Love makes things intelligent. Love is the Door to Happiness. Love has a Universal Language. Love is Spiritual Understanding. Love never fails in any purpose. Love purifies everything it touches. Love is clairvoyant and clairaudient. Love things, and they will be beautiful. Love transforms all discords to Harmony. Love is a sure wrinkle eradicator (no charges). Love dissolves the veil between this world and the Spirit World.”“When the killing ceases, contagious diseases will cease. God is the Triune-Light-in-One: the Light of Love, the Light of Intelligence, and the Light of Day. The opposite, or God's Shadow, is the triune-darkness-in-one: the darkness of hatred, the darkness of ignorance, and the darkness of night. Virtue grows and thrives in the first, and criminality in the last. Where Love rules, God rules; where hatred rules, the Shadow reigns. Where Wisdom is; God is there; where ignorance prevails, the Shadow is on top.”“There is a Glorious Time coming soon. The Lord is over all, and all disorder must now come into Heavenly Order! Keep a cheerful heart, and be quiet, and Heaven will be in control!”

The Reappearance of the Christ by Alice Bailey: Selection from “Christ’s Unique Occasion,” Part 1 of 2

00:11:39

The Reappearance of the Christ by Alice Bailey: Selection from “Christ’s Unique Occasion,” Part 1 of 2

Alice Bailey was an extraordinary British American esoteric author of the 20th century. She was one of the first to use the term New Age, referring to a better future for the world that fulfills the Divine plan of love and light. Born in 1880, Alice Bailey in her youth was a devoted Christian who later developed an extensive knowledge and practice of Theosophy. In 1922, Alice Bailey and her husband Foster Bailey founded the Lucis Trust and the Arcane School to offer the teachings and meditation guidance to the public. The nonprofit Lucis Trust is still active today and continues to publish Alice Bailey’s works, including as free e-books, for people to study in this special period of our planet. We will now read an excerpt from Alice Bailey’s prophetic book “The Reappearance of the Christ,” about the unique factors that will mark the way the Christ will carry out His work during His next re-emergence on Earth. “First of all, He will come to a world which is essentially one world. His reappearance and His consequent work cannot be confined to one small locality or domain unheard of by the great majority, as was the case when He was here before. The radio, the press and the dissemination of news will make His coming different to that of any previous Messenger; the swift modes of transportation will make Him available to countless millions, and by boat, rail and plane they can reach Him: THROUGH TELEVISION, HIS FACE CAN BE MADE FAMILIAR TO ALL, and verily ‘every eye shall see Him.’” “It is a fallacy to believe, as some do, that the main trend of Christ’s work will be through the medium of the churches or the world religions. He necessarily will work through them when conditions permit and there is a living nucleus of true spirituality within them, or when their invocative appeal is potent enough to reach Him. He will use all possible channels whereby the consciousness of man may be enlarged and right orientation be brought about. It is, however, truer to say that it is as World Teacher that He will consistently work, and that the churches are but one of the teaching avenues He will employ. All that enlightens the minds of men, all that tends to bring about right human relations, all modes of acquiring real knowledge, all methods of transmuting knowledge into wisdom and understanding, all that expands the consciousness of humanity and of all subhuman states of awareness and sensitivity, all that dispels glamour and illusion and that disrupts crystallization and disturbs static conditions will come under the realistic activities of the Hierarchy which He supervises. He will be limited by the quality and the caliber of the invocative appeal of humanity and that, in its turn, is conditioned by the attained point in evolution.”

From the Sacred Text of the Universal White Brotherhood: The Two Paths and The Ascending Way, Part 1 of 2

From the Sacred Text of the Universal White Brotherhood: The Two Paths and The Ascending Way, Part 1 of 2

Today, we present to you the sacred teachings of the Universal White Brotherhood from two of Master Beinsa Douno's lectures titled, "The Two Paths," and "The Ascending Way." His loving words explain how we can nurture our soul, so that we will grow in virtue and knowledge of the Divine. “Why was Jesus crucified? So that people could see what they represent and how they keep the Divine law. Why did Jesus die? To show people what the real person should be - one of obedience who is not afraid even of death. Where Love exists, fear stays away. Life is present, where Love is revealed. When one lives, Light has come. When one dies, darkness has come. Light is the life, which comes. Darkness is the life, which departs. Good thoughts, feelings and wishes represent rays of Light: they give food to Life and also to the soul that is coming to the Earth. Good deeds represent rays and colors of Light: they provide the Living bread for the soul, so that it can know The One Who gave birth to it.” “Make use of the benefits of the small opportunities in life to do Good. Take advantage of the benefits of the small opportunities to do rightly with your soul, which carries the burden of all souls. Make use of the opportunities of the small daily moments in life, so that you may demonstrate your intelligence. It is the only way, in which the soul grows strong in Goodness, Justice and Wisdom.”

Selection from Signs of Agni Yoga: Heart – by Spiritual Messengers Nicholas and Helena Roerich (vegetarians), Part 2 of 2

00:14:27

Selection from Signs of Agni Yoga: Heart – by Spiritual Messengers Nicholas and Helena Roerich (vegetarians), Part 2 of 2

“The heart may be the focus, but it is the least egocentric of all. Not egoism dwells in the heart, but a feeling that embraces all humanity. Only reasoning shrouds the heart in a web of egocentricity. Kind-heartedness is measured not so much by good actions, which may arise from so many different causes, but by one’s inner kindliness, which kindles the light that shines in the darkness. In this sense, the heart is truly a transnational organ. If for us light is a symbol of the aura, its parent will be the heart. How necessary it is that one learns to feel the heart not as one’s own, but as something that belongs to the entire world. Only through this feeling can a person begin to liberate himself from egoism, while preserving the individual nature of his accumulations.”“Our Hand will not get tired of extending the saving thread to the heart. Who can justly say that We were late in offering help? But We can cite many occasions when Our Messenger was frozen by people’s heartlessness. It is so hard to bring into action the potential of the heart. One must manifest a flight over the abyss, as if soaring from the last shore into the Infinite. How sacred is the courage of selflessness, which opens up the heart!”“Can you picture what a humanity with healthy bodies and uncultured hearts would be like? It is difficult even to imagine such a feast of darkness. All the illnesses and infirmities in the world are unable to restrain the rampant madness of the heart. Truly, so long as the heart remains unenlightened, illnesses and infirmities will not be eliminated; were that not the case, the frenzy of the heart coupled with powerful bodies would horrify the worlds.”“Through even the slightest purification of the human heart one can derive a cascade of Blessings. Nowadays, it is all right to act, if cautiously, but only in cases where the heart has not decayed. You should not get depressed about it, but you need to know that the darkness has intensified and many hearts are putrefying. The significance of the heart is an old truth, but this truth has never been so needed as now.”

From the Gnostic Nag Hammadi Library: On the Resurrection and the Father, Part 2 of 2

From the Gnostic Nag Hammadi Library: On the Resurrection and the Father, Part 2 of 2

Today, we continue with a selection from the Nag Hammadi’s Treatise on the Resurrection, also known as “The Letter to Rheginos,” as well as a passage from The Tripartite Tractate. “He existed before anything other than Himself came into being. The Father is a single One, like a number, for He is the first One and the One Who is only Himself. Yet He is not like a solitary individual. Otherwise, how could He be a father? For whenever there is a ‘father,’ the name ‘son’ follows. But the single One, Who alone is the Father, is like a root, with tree, branches and fruit. It is said of Him that He is a Father in the proper sense, since He is inimitable and immutable. Because of this, He is single in the proper sense, and is a God, because no one is a god for Him nor is anyone a father to Him. For He is unbegotten, and there is no other who begot Him, nor another who created Him.” “In the proper sense, He alone - the good, the unbegotten Father, and the complete perfect One - is the one filled with all His offspring, and with every virtue, and with everything of value. And He has more, that is, lack of any malice, in order that it may be discovered that whoever has anything is indebted to Him, because He gives it, being Himself unreachable and unwearied by that which He gives, since He is wealthy in the gifts which He bestows, and at rest in the favors which He grants.” “He is of such a kind and form and great magnitude that no one else has been with Him from the beginning; nor is there a place in which He is, or from which He has come forth, or into which He will go; nor is there a primordial form, which He uses as a model as He works; nor is there any difficulty which accompanies Him in what He does; nor is there any material which is at His disposal, from which creates what He creates; nor any substance within Him from which He begets what He begets; nor a co-worker with Him, working with Him on the things at which He works. To say anything of this sort is ignorant. Rather, (one should speak of Him) as good, faultless, perfect, complete, being Himself the Totality.”

Selections from The World’s Advance Thought – a Periodical by Lucy A. Mallory (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

We now share with you selections from the periodical – The World’s Advance Thought. “Of the three great evils in the world, flesh-eating, liquor-drinking and tabacco-using, the eating of flesh is the only one directly based upon cruelty and murder (the greatest crimes in the calendar); it is the only one of the three, above mentioned, that makes an inferno of the happy lives of innocent animals; that starves countless numbers of them in winter’s freezing weather; and brutally inflicts nameless tortures and torments upon them in transporting them to the slaughterhouses by sea and land in summer’s stifling heat. Now we wish to speak of the agonizing, torturing results to those, who disregarding these unspeakable happenings, eat the murdered flesh of these creatures, done most brutally to their death with all this long agony and fear upon them.” “There can be no excuse in this enlightened age for the flesh-eating habit to continue. The Truth that ‘sets free’ is now everywhere known, and it is the only thing that must be put in practice to wipe out forever the error that destroys – else the fearful price must be paid. If you have no regard for the harmony and happiness of lesser forms of life, there is no power in the Universe that has any regard for the harmony and happiness of your life. ‘As ye give, ye receive.’ And the hades, O Humanity, you have made of the lives of animals (equally the handiwork of God with your own) is returned to you with its increases, in diseases, disasters, war and their wholesale horrors, terrors and destruction.”

From the Rosicrucian Order’s The Sanctuary of Self: on the Mystical Life, Part 1 of 3

The Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis, also known as the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, is a worldwide cultural, educational, and philosophical organization that is perpetuating profound and practical teachings of the Rosicrucians. These teachings, as passed down and added to over the centuries from ancient Egypt to Europe and now all over the world, pertain to the mysteries of the universe, nature, and humans themselves. Today we will explore the process that could lead us to the mystical life according to the Rosicrucian Order, in Chapter 1 of the book “The Sanctuary of Self” by the late Rosicrucian leader Ralph M. Lewis. Chapter I THE MYSTICAL LIFE. “The mystical life provides the reason why we live. The mystical life determines the cause of our individual lives and the use to which we should put our bodies and our animal vitality and magnetism. The mystical life, like the physical life, requires certain preparation. If we must study the rules of diet, if we must study hygiene, if we must know the rudiments of good health to be healthy and physically normal, certainly we should give some thought and consideration to the mystical side of our existence as well.”

From the Book of the Secrets of Enoch (vegetarian): Excerpts from Chapters 1-20, Part 2 of 2

Enoch was a venerated patriarch and great-grandfather of Noah. After his son, Methuselah, was born, Enoch began to “walk with God” - that is, he began to seek, to know, to serve, and to pray to God, and he continued this for the next 300 years! Throughout his life, he visited Heaven in his visions and dreams. But the main message is one of hope, that God will be the guiding Light for those who are righteous. “And from there those men took me and bore me up on to the sixth Heaven, and there I saw seven bands of angels, very bright and very glorious, and their faces shining more than the Sun’s shining, glistening, and there is no difference in their faces, or behavior, or manner of dress; and these make the orders, and learn the goings of the stars, and the alteration of the Moon, or revolution of the Sun, and the good government of the world. They make commandments and instruction, and sweet and loud singing, and all songs of praise.”

True Listening and Learning – from The Book of Life by Jiddu Krishnamurti (vegetarian), Part 1 of 2

Jiddu Krishnamurti was an internationally renowned spiritual figure, born in 1895 in southern India, who, to this present day, is still considered one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. He did not proclaim any religion, sect, or country, and always pointed out that we are first humans and do not need to identify with nationality, race or religious beliefs. From 1929 until his death in 1986, Jiddu Krishnamurti traveled throughout the world talking to large audiences, individuals, scientists, religious figures, writers, philosophers, educators, as well as giving radio and television interviews. Krishnamurti’s only concern was to set humanity “absolutely, unconditionally free.”His vision was for humans to have a more profound understanding of themselves and of the art of living, so as to bring about a new and peaceful generation. A compassionate vegetarian, the beloved Krishnamurti was also a founder of schools in India, the United States and the United Kingdom. They are based on a holistic, global outlook, with a concern for humanity and the environment and their interconnected relationship. The schools were established to be places where the existential concerns of life could be explored freely and responsibly. In addition, Jiddu Krishnamurti was an author of numerous books. Among them are “The Awakening of Intelligence,” “The Urgency of Change,” “Freedom from the Known,” and “The Flight of the Eagle.” Today, we will have a glimpse of some of Jiddu Krishnamurti’s insights from his book, “The Book of Life.”“Have you ever sat very silently, not with your attention fixed on anything, not making an effort to concentrate, but with the mind very quiet, really still? Then you hear everything, don’t you? You hear the far-off noises as well as those that are nearer and those that are very close by, the immediate sounds — which means really that you are listening to everything. Your mind is not confined to one narrow little channel. If you can listen in this way, listen with ease, without strain, you will find an extraordinary change taking place within you, a change which comes without your volition, without your asking; and in that change there is great beauty and depth of insight.”

The Apocryphon of John (vegetarian): From the Gnostic Nag Hammadi Library, Part 2 of 2

Today, we will continue with the fascinating reading from Codex II, “The Apocryphon of John” from the Nag Hammadi Library. “‘And His thought performed a deed and She came forth, namely She Who had appeared before Him in the shine of His Light. This is the first power which was before all of them (and) which came forth from His Mind. She is the forethought of the All – Her light shines like His Lig

From Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations: Book 3, Part 2 of 2

From Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations: Book 3, Part 2 of 2

We will now continue with the timeless insights by Marcus Aurelius in Book 3, from his book entitled, “Meditations.” The Stoic philosopher emphasizes on the preservation of the spirit as substantial, in order to live in accordance with our innate divinity. “The mind of one set straight and purified: no pus, no dirt, no scabs. And not a life cut short by death, like an actor who stops before the play is done, the plot wound up. Neither servility nor arrogance. Neither cringing nor disdain. Neither excuses nor evasions.” “Forget everything else. Keep hold of this alone and remember it: Each of us lives only now, this brief instant. The rest has been lived already, or is impossible to see. The span we live is small — small as the corner of the Earth in which we live it. Small as even the greatest renown, passed from mouth to mouth by short-lived stick figures, ignorant alike of themselves and those long dead.” “If you do the job in a principled way, with diligence, energy and patience, if you keep yourself free of distractions, and keep the spirit inside you undamaged, as if you might have to give it back at any moment — If you can embrace this without fear or expectation — can find fulfillment in what you’re doing now, as Nature intended, and in superhuman truthfulness (every word, every utterance) — then your life will be happy. No one can prevent that.” “If all the rest is common coin, then what is unique to the good man? To welcome with affection what is sent by fate. Not to stain or disturb the spirit within him with a mess of false beliefs. Instead, to preserve it faithfully, by calmly obeying God — saying nothing untrue, doing nothing unjust. And if the others don’t acknowledge it — this life lived with simplicity, humility, cheerfulness — he doesn’t resent them for it, and isn’t deterred from following the road where it leads: to the end of life. An end to be approached in purity, in serenity, in acceptance, in peaceful unity with what must be.”
