The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 2 of 4

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 2 of 4

In today's episode “The Peaceful Veg Diet – A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 2 of 4,” we will present to you the veg concept in Christianity. The following are some of the excerpts from Christian teachings: Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” - GenesisLord Jesus Christ Himself was a vegetarian, and He forbid the eating of meat and offering of animals as sacrifice. In an interview with journalist Andrea Bonnie that was published in the Irish Independent newspaper in December 2008, Supreme Master Ching Hai addressed Lord Jesus’ teachings about a compassionate diet and biblical translation variances that may have led to misinterpretations.“(Was Jesus a vegetarian? Are there passages in the Bible that talk about whether or not Jesus was a vegetarian?) He's a pure vegetarian. He came from the Essenes tradition, and the Essenes are vegetarian all the time. We have mentioned always in my talk that Jesus did never eat meat; clearly in the Bible, it's stated in many places that humans should not eat meat at all. ‘Be thou not among flesh eaters and wine drinkers. ’ ‘Meat for the belly, belly for the meat, and God will destroy both meat and them. ’ ‘Who told you to kill all the bullocks and the she-sheep to make offer for me? Please stop the killing of all these innocents. Wash your hands because they are full of blood. If you continue to do that, I will turn my head away when you pray. ’For example like that. ” The largest surviving collection of Ebionite scriptures is the Clementine Homilies and the Recognitions of Clement, which are vegetarian gospels that condemn animal sacrifice in any form.In addition, other defenses for vegetarianism/veganism are represented here with quotes from St. Clement of Alexandria, St. Francis of Assisi and other great personages in Christian tradition.“All creatures have the same source as we have. Like us, they derive the life of thought, love, and will from the Creator. Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them; but to stop there is a complete misapprehension of the intentions of Providence. We have a higher mission. God wishes that we should succour them whenever they require it.” - St. Francis of Assisi

Meditation is the Source of Love, Part 1 of 3, April 20, 1991

Why do my disciples like Quan Yin Method? It is because they have benefited from it. The more they meditate, the more they feel the difference. They feel they are glowing, - even their outer appearance is changed. When we meditate, if we can focus all our attention on one point and put any problem before it, the problem can be solved immediately. Our power is tremendous; it’s just that we do not use it every day by focusing it on one point, so it seems that we are powerless.

In Silence We Know God, Part 1 of 2, May 5,1999

I know you all have many questions concerning whether God exists, whether we can reach Hirm, whether we can talk to Hirm, whether we can directly demand something from Hirm, so I am going to try to tell you as much as I can, as much as I know about our Father, which many of us have forgotten. How much do we have to work in order to be successful in God's realization, in gaining back the whole kingdom of the universe for ourselves? Almost nothing. No pay, no conditions, no effort, no binding. Nothing! Because we are the children of God.

And the higher we step into the higher mansions of God, the more elevated we feel, the more wisdom will be reawakened within ourselves, the more power we will have. The more love will stream forth from God through our beings to bless the world, and bless everyone, every being that comes in contact with us, or anyone that is in our vicinity.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 1 of 4

Buddhism is based purely on a universal idea of compassion for all life. According to Buddhism, sentient beings are subject to rebirth as other sentient beings, thus all living beings are interconnected. Shakyamuni Buddha preached vegetarianism as an important and key component in being compassionate. The Buddha states in the Mahayana Mahaparinirvana Sutra, that "the eating of meat extinguishes the seed of great compassion", adding that all and every kind of meat and fish consumption, even of animals already found dead, is prohibited.“You should know that those who eat meat, though their minds may open and realize a semblance of Samadhi, are but great raksasas who, after this life, will sink back into the bitter ocean of samsara and cannot be my disciples. They will kill and devour one another ceaselessly; how then can they escape from the three worlds of existence?”“If a man can (control) his body and mind and thereby refrains from eating animal flesh and wearing animal products, I say he will really be liberated. This teaching of mine is that of the Buddha whereas any other is that of evil demons.”The Surangama Sutra vividly depicts the dreadful consequences for flesh eaters, and explains in detail why noninjury and nonkilling should be upheld by those who practice for enlightenment and Buddhahood. “The Blessed One said this to him: For innumerable reasons, Mahamati, the Bodhisattva, whose nature is compassion, is not to eat any meat; I will explain them: Mahamati, in this long course of transmigration here, there is not one living being that, having assumed the form of a living being, has not been your mother, or father, or brother, or sister, or son, or daughter, or the one or the other, in various degrees of kinship; and when acquiring another form of life may live as a beast, as a domestic animal, as a bird, or as a womb-born, or as something standing in some relationship to you; [this being so] how can the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who desires to approach all living beings as if they were himself and to practice the Buddha-truths, eat the flesh of any living being that is of the same nature as himself? ...Thus, Mahamati, wherever there is the evolution of living beings, let people cherish the thought of kinship with them, and, thinking that all beings are [to be loved as if they were] an only child, let them refrain from eating meat...”

Excerpts from Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s Letters, Part 1 of 2

Baba Sawan Singh Ji, also known as “The Great Master”, was an Indian Saint and enlightened Master. Our chief aim should be to unite with our Creator. All saints are Sons of God; their mission is to make others the Sons of God; their method is the Word- sound current. This current connects the individual with its Source. The Word gives out both Light and Sound. There is no power on earth or heaven greater than the power of sound current. Provided this time is given with love and devotion. The will power becomes strong by repetition and concentration, and spiritual force is created, which awakens love and faith within.

The Mercy of God, Part 1 of 4 Nov. 27, 1999

32:59

The Mercy of God, Part 1 of 4 Nov. 27, 1999

In the Bible, it is mentioned that “Forsake the flesh for the spirit. Learn to die, so that you will begin to live.” Because we are the essence of God, we have God power within us, whether we are aware of it not. So, our thought is practically very, very powerful. Free ourselves, we have to reacquaint ourselves again with the true teaching of all the Masters since ancient times. That teaching is God or Buddha, or Allah, is ever merciful. And we are the children of this highest power, and we will be forever loved, forgiven, and helped in any way possible in this life and the life after.

20:44

Excerpts from Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s Letters, Part 2 of 2

Spiritual progress primarily depends on the training of the mind. The withdrawal of the s It (Sant Mat) is a liberal system and does not stifle opinion or insist on blind belief. Masters in the flesh are rare. They are superior beings and have fully developed their latent powers. A Guru gives salvation only when alive. The sound current and the Master are within you. Animal food, even if a single particle is eaten, is detrimental to spiritual progress. The master showered his grace when he initiated you. Now your duty is to practice concentration and go up. Then love will come automatically.cattered attention into the eye center requires patience, perseverance, and faith.

Learning to be Buddha One Will Become a Buddha, Part 1 of 4 Oct 21, 1989

Learning to be Buddha One Will Become a Buddha, Part 1 of 4 Oct 21, 1989

We have to deliver ourselves. That fixed karma is hard to change. What is fixed karma? It’s the karmic retribution. To be free from suffering, we have to keep the precepts. Buddha cannot save us. He only shows us the way. Buddha followed the precepts, the way, the law. The Buddha’s precepts are to protect us, so that our life is peaceful. We need to change ourselves, use our spiritual power, our merit to change ourselves. Humans should always move forward, becoming more virtuous and beautiful. Only charity is, only by the power that we naturally acquire through spiritual practice could we solve many problems satisfactorily.

Selection from Baba Sawan Singh Scripture: Discourses on Sant Mat (as delivered in Satsang), Chapter 1, Part 2 of 2

The first step that leads us towards our Home is detachment from the world. The transitory carnal enjoyments must be gradually discarded, for so long as they persist, the soul finds it impossible to attach itself to Nam (The Word of God). Spiritual wealth may be accumulated in two ways. First: by toiling hard at meditation; second: by a complete and unconditional surrender to the Master. The first is the easier way. The second method is however, hard to practice, though it is much more efficacious. The mind is a great hurdle in the way; it does not permit you to annihilate your ego.

Love your family, truly love them, and they will love you, too. Then, due to this love, we will feel very lively and happy. It will be easy for us to accept people from outside, and to love others. Try it when you return home. This is the path to being happy. We love others because we want to be comfortable and happy. The more we offer our love to others, the more others will love us. When all the people love each other, how comfortable that will be!

Rising in the Holy Father’s Love and Reaching to the Faithful: From the Holy Bible, John’s Gospel – Excerpts from Chapters 15-20, Part 1 of 2

I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name, the name You gave me, so that they may be one as We are one.

The Six Paths to Perfection, Questions and Answers, Part 4 of 4, March 1, 1991

20:07

The Six Paths to Perfection, Questions and Answers, Part 4 of 4, March 1, 1991

(I would like to ask Master. The Lord said that we must believe in Him in order to be saved. If we believe in other religions, even though we do good deeds, we still won’t be saved. Is it correct?) Yes, it is correct. When a Savior comes to this world, if we believe in Hirm, then all the virtues and merits are included in that faith. It’s said that “Faith is the mother of all merits.” But we have to believe in a living Christ, or the living Buddha or the living Master, who are still in the world. That is what it means. Therefore, the Lord didn’t say only that, but He said: “As long as I live in this world, I am the Light of this world.” He didn’t say He was the light in this world all the time, no? “As long as I live in this world, I am the Light of this world.” He taught very clearly. Even regarding veganism, the Lord said in the Bible very clearly…(I would like to ask Master whether Nirvana truly exists or not?)(Beloved Master, please explain the two scenarios of the Buddhas…)

In Breakthrough Sermon, Bodhidharma said,” If you see the Buddha Light for just one split second, all your karma of past lives would be eliminated!” It’s the same when we get initiation. At the time of initiation, you see the Light and hear the Sound straight away. You are taught from inside. That’s why your karma of past lives could be eliminated immediately, and you would be liberated in one lifetime. That’s how you get immediate enlightenment.

From Sikhism’s Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib: The Great Fortune of Meeting a Fully Enlightened Master, Part 1 of 2

If a hundred moons were to rise, and a thousand suns appeared (in the sky), even with such light, there would still be pitch darkness (ignorance in the mind) without an Enlightened Master. All other rituals, deeds are just worldly affairs (a show); meeting and seeking refuge in the Holy saint-guru (Enlightened Master), one is saved (liberated). One may contemplate on the Simritees, Shaastras and Vedas (holy scriptures), but it is only by meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord (obtained from an enlightened Master), one is saved and carried across (by His Grace).

One must be balanced in Yin (Negative) and Yang (Positive) to become a Saint. We can’t reach Heaven in one step. It’s same for the spiritual practitioners. When the time comes, we’ll get results naturally. If we have faith and happiness, and if we feel the protection of God’s power, then we’ve already had the most precious experiences. We are belong to the “Religion of Laughter”! We can measure our level by our laughter, If you want to become a Buddha, you should remember when you come here, you’re going to be a “Laughing Buddha”. We become very expansive, like the air, like the ocean. We’re not limited by any biases or bound by any traditions or customs.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 3 of 4

16:42

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 3 of 4

In Hinduism, nature is sacred and all beings are equal. The key principle of Hinduism is Ahimsa (non-violence). Many Hindus treat vegetarianism as a daily sadhana or spiritual practice. Hinduism's vast scriptures contain thousands of passages recommending vegetarianism based on the profound link between ahimsa (non-violence) and spirituality.Hindu law books base many directives on the principle of sacredness of all life. In the Manusmriti, a particularly renowned traditional Hindu law book strongly condemn the slaughter of animals and meat eating. In the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna reminds us that every living being possesses a soul, and there is the same "Lord" in every creature. This sense of identity among all forms of life and the kinship between humans and animals pervade Indian religious thought and practice.Vegetarianism has a strong tradition in Judaism, as the original design for the Garden of Eden. Judaism holds that human life as sacred, and we should diligently care for our health and adopt the plant-based diet which is the right approach as is this in-line with the teachings of God. And God said: "Behold, I have given you every herb-yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree that has seed-yielding fruit – to you it shall be for food." Genesis “To relieve an animal of pain or danger is a biblical law.” - Talmud, Sabbath,Jainism also emphasizes the practice of ahimsa (non-violence), and teaches us to look upon all beings as we would upon our own selves, thus inflicting injury to them is inflicting injury to our own selves: "All beings are fond of themselves, they like pleasure, they hate pain, they shun destruction, they like life and want to live long. To all, life is dear; hence their life should be protected. If you kill someone, it is yourself you kill. If you overpower someone, it is yourself you overpower. If you torment someone, it is yourself you torment. If you harm someone, it is yourself you harm.” -Lord Mahavira

Learning to be Buddha One Will Become a Buddha, Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4, Oct 21, 1989

Buddha told us not to kill. The first precept. If we didn’t want to discipline ourselves a little now, we would suffer more life after life. There is no God, no Buddha who brought these calamities upon us. These disasters are caused by human beings themselves. Because we didn’t follow the teachings of the religious founder who taught us to practice spiritually. If you practice the Quan Yin Method, then you can hear the sounds of Buddha. All the Buddha in the ten directions are one. It is “heart-to-heart transmission,” the so-called initiation. After being initiated, we can hear those sounds. We can see the Buddha realm or the light of the Buddha. We will know what is our Buddha Nature. We will be in contact with our Real Self.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 4 of 4

“A good deed done to an animal is as meritorious as a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is as bad as an act of cruelty to a human being.” - Hadith (Islam)“Burden not an animal with more than it can bear. We, truly, have prohibited such treatment through a most binding interdiction in the Book. Be you the embodiments of justice and fairness amidst all creation. ” - Baha’u’llah, Most Holy Book“All men have a mind which cannot bear to see the sufferings of others. So is the superior man affected towards animals that having seen them alive he cannot bear to see them die; having heard their dying cries, he cannot bear to eat their fles.” - Mencius, King Hui of Liang (Confucianism)“Before the art of cooking was known, primitive people ate only vegetables…. Thereupon the sage taught the men to attend to farming and to plant trees to supply the people with food. And the sole purpose of securing food is to increase energy, satisfy hunger, strengthen the body and appease the stomach. ” - Mozi, Indulgence in Excess (Mohism)“Don’t kill animals to make offering Sages and saints are not biased. Your sickness is due to previous life bad karma (retribution) or because of this life’s violence. ” - Encouraging Goodness Scripture (HÒA HẢO Buddism)“Our Guru, our Spiritual Guide, only stands by us if we do not eat any meat or dead bodies.” - Guru Granth Sahib (Sikhism)“Buy captive animals and give them freedom. How commendable is abstinence that dispenses with the butcher! While walking be mindful of worms and ants. Be cautious with fire and do not set mountain woods or forests ablaze. Do not go into the mountain to catch birds in nets, nor to the water to poison fishes and minnows. Do not butcher the ox that plows your field.” - Tract of the Quiet Way (Taoism)“Those plants, I, Ahura Mazda (God), rain down upon the earth, to bring food to the faithful, and fodder to the beneficent cow; to bring food to my people that they may live on it, and fodder to the beneficent cow.” - Avesta (Zoroasterianism)We now conclude our 4-part program with the thought-provoking excerpt from our beloved master Supreme Master Ching Hai. “This world belongs to everyone, including the animals. That’s why we follow a vegetarian (vegan) policy because this world has come into existence due to the force of the thinking power of all the beings that exist on this planet. We wanted this place so it exists, including the animals.” “So we’ve forgotten that we’re the co-owners, not the sole owners of this world. That’s why we shouldn’t kill animals, shouldn’t eat them, and especially shouldn’t kill any other beings.”
