One day in 2008, then pig farmer Luo Hong Xian was loading his livestock animals into an abattoir’s truck, when one of the pigs turned around and looked at him. At that moment, Mr. Luo felt the pig was asking him how he could give him away after being companions for a year. Heartbroken, Mr. Luo realized that animals have consciousness and decided to stop eating meat. He then converted his farm into the Love Sea Animal Sanctuary, which currently houses hundreds of animals, including pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, geese and sheep, as well as fish and turtles. To date, the 37-year-old rescuer has also encouraged tens of thousands of visitors to likewise embrace the vegan diet. We are deeply touched by your benevolent transition, Luo Hong Xian. Heaven bless you. May all join in awakening their goodness within and begin anew in the virtuous vegan way.Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Cheerfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Luo Hong Xian, plus US$10,000 in humble support of the Love Sea Animal Sanctuary, with all love and gratitude, in Heaven’s embrace.”

A recent study of 500 people living in the United Kingdom has revealed that almost all of them, or 99.5%, would like a worldwide ban on cosmetic animal testing. It was also noted that 97% of the respondents would like a ban on animal testing in other areas as well, for example with cleaning products, and 80% do not want animals used in medical tests.Every year, millions of mice, rats, dogs, cats, fish, primates and other species are victimized for animal testing in these and other industries. Fortunately, new alternative testing methods, such as computer modeling, are becoming accepted throughout the world as more accurate and less costly. Our appreciation, British citizens, for your loving stance. We join you in wishing for a global ban on all forms of animal testing, for the innocent ones to be protected and humans to become more humane, in Divine mercy.

Russian filmmaker presents animals’ personal lives in new documentary. Gunda, named after a sow on a real Norwegian farm, is directed by vegetarian Russian filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky and executively produced by vegan Oscar-winning American actor Joaquin Phoenix. The work has no narration or actors and follows the daily lives of Gunda and her piglets, a one-legged chicken and several cows on a farm. Viewers are indirectly reminded of the cruelty behind meat-eating as the camera captures each cast member’s heart-warming personality.Mr. Kossakovsky commented, “So many people stopped eating meat (due to the film),” while Mr. Phoenix described the work as being “of profound importance and artistry.”The feature has won awards, including Best Documentary at the 2020 Stockholm Film Festival. Bravo, Victor Kossakovsky, Joaquin Phoenix and all involved in Gunda’s production. May humanity soon awaken to our animal friends’ nobility, under the loving watch of the Providence.

Bill Gates, a Shining World Compassion Award recipient, says wealthy nations should eat plant-based beef to stop climate change. In a recent interview with MIT Technology Review belonging to the United States’ Massachusetts Institute of Technology, American philanthropist Bill Gates outlined that the world’s wealthiest countries “should move to 100% synthetic beef” to stop climate change. He also suggested the implementation of bonuses and strong government regulations to totally change consumer demand to plant-based alternatives. Mr. Gates warned that it is not possible to stop methane emissions from cows by using feed additives or different fertilizers, and praised the vegan meat companies Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat for their efforts to replace beef.Thank you, Bill Gates, for helping to bring greater attention to the best and quickest way to solve climate change, and that is with plant-based protein. In the love of Heaven, may all countries implement your pro-veg suggestion and much more to rescue our planet.
