Juice Fast for Peace-Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, Part 4 of 5, March 7, 2009

It’s my joy to participate in this wonderful dialogue that we had with the Supreme Master — very sweet, and very powerful. We’ve invited many people to participate in this week-long juice fast to assist them in the transition from a meat-based diet to a plant-based diet, to cleanse their emotional body, and their mental body so they can be more receptive to the spiritual intelligence. But, also to be a participant in serving the emerging paradigm on this planet. I very appreciate the fact that we can get our message of being vegan and going green, and let’s say going green diet; not just green ecology but green diet, your inner ecology, out to the whole planet through the Supreme Master Ching Hai’s incredible TV network!

“We would also reduce the carbon dioxide somewhat, by means of going back to more natural vegetarian type of diet, as opposed to having meat diets. So, that in the biggest single thing in terms of our personal lifestyle. We could change in order to help solve the climate problem. ” Just leave one piece of meat and we have everything else as it is right now. And more later on, as the forest will regain its strength and grow back to a lash situation again and then attract more rain and protect the soil and cool the planet. And the most factor that contributes to our global warming right now is methane, and methane comes from livestock raising. So if we cut methane, the planet cools down quick.

Juice Fast for Peace-Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, Part 2 of 5, March 7, 2009

The planet is our home. All evidence points out that meat is the number one cause of our planetary problem. How can we take measures , not from rising sea levels, but also all the similar consequences of global warming? Not only the ice, but also the permafrost will melt, which could potentially release billions of tons of methane gas from underneath, or hydrogen sulfide. Except we turn to a virtuous way of life, then we are connected with Heaven because Heaven is virtuous and love and blessing. If we’re connected with that, then we are one with that, then we are protected ourselves.

The first one is heroic, but the one who has done it before know it’s also a very great challenge. You are doing the right stuff. The cleansing of the body through one week fasting of juice is very, very beneficial to your health at least. You mind will be also clear. And it was very rewarding. You can feel all the chakras just like rising up and open one by one. It’s not just about having no food for one week, but it’s the courage in you will rise up, that at least for a while after the fast, you fell like you fear nothing. You have such a courage, you feel like you are invincible.

From Zoroastrianism’s Sacred Menog-i Khrad: Chapters 4-13, Part 2 of 2

The sage asked the spirit of wisdom thus:‘Is it possible to go from region to region [karshwar], or not? From what substance is the sky made? And how and in what manner is the mingling of the water in the earth?’The spirit of wisdom answered thus:‘Without the permission of the sacred beings, or the permission of the demons, it is then not possible for one to go from region to region.’‘The sky is made from the substance of the blood-stone, such as they also call diamond(almast).’ ‘And the mingling of the water in the earth is just like the blood in the body of man.’

From Zoroastrianism’s Sacred Menog-i Khrad: Chapters 4-13, Part 1 of 2

Zoroaster was a prophet who lived in ancient Iran around 1800 BC. The teachings that emerged from his visions of God have become known as Zoroastrianism. Zoroastrian theology’s main tenets include the existence of one God and the personal happiness or reward that is the natural outcome of using one’s free will to formulate good thoughts, good words and good deeds. Respecting all life, Zoroaster was himself a pure vegetarian and forbade all animal sacrifice. His universal philosophy is believed to have influenced Greek thought and major revealed religions of the world.

Four Basic Principles of a Godly Lifestyle: Interview with Rabbi Rami Shapiro, Part 2 of 2

Rabbi Rami Shapiro is the director of the One River Foundation, an educational, not-for-profit that promotes the Perennial wisdom at the mystic heart of the world’s religions. Perennial Wisdom is a global spirituality rather than a global religion. With a deep respect for different religions, the One River Foundation sees the common thread of wisdom that is highlighted within each faith tradition and it is this central wisdom that they see as providing the foundation for a new spiritually rich civilization.

Four Basic Principles of a Godly Lifestyle: Interview with Rabbi Rami Shapiro, Part 1 of 2

The One River Foundation, headed by Rabbi Rami Shapiro, promotes what they term Perennial Wisdom. This leads into the whole issue of vegetarianism which is a central part of the way I live personally, as part of this Perennial Philosophy. So, when you’re in a spacious mind and you read “love your neighbor as yourself,” you realize that your neighbor is yourself, for all part of the same, body of the Divine reality. So whenever we slaughter an animal in order to consume it, we are causing the animal needless suffering. You have the awakening, you begin to live more compassionately, more justly.

Selection from Songs of Kabir, Part 2 of 2

Hes who is in the body is ever athirst, for Hes pursues that which is in part. But ever there wells forth deeper and deeper the sound “Hes is this-this is Hes;” fusing [Divine] love and renunciation into one. Whosoever seeks for shelter in the Highest, let all come and settle in my land! Let the weary come and lay his burdens here! So live here, that you may cross with ease to that other shore. It is a land without earth or sky, without moon or stars; For only the radiance of Truth shines in my Lord’s Durbar. Naught is essential save Truth. THE Lord is in me, the Lord is in you, as life is in every seed.

Selection from Songs of Kabir, Part 1 of 2

WITHIN this earthen vessel are bowers and groves, and within it is the Creator. Within this vessel are the seven oceans and the unnumbered stars. The touchstone and the jewel-appraiser are within; And within this vessel the Eternal Soundeth, and spring wells up. Kabir says: “Listen to me, my Friend! My beloved Lord is within.”There the Unstruck Music sounds of itself; There the streams of light flow in all directions. Few are the men who can cross to that shore! Goddess of Music, play on the veena — There is my Lord self-revealed, and the scent of sandal and flowers dwells in those deeps. “The Formless is in the midst of all forms. I sing the glory of forms.”

Selection from Plato’s Dialogue “Phaedo,” Part 2 of 2

Selection from Plato’s Dialogue “Phaedo,” Part 2 of 2

According to Plato, the soul loses at birth the clear recollection of Ideas. Plato’s philosophy asserts the presence of the physical realm and the spiritual rem. The physical realm is the material world, that is imperfect and evolving. As for the spiritual realm, and is termed by Plato it exists beyond as the Realm of Forms or the Realm of Ideas or Realm of Ideals. If we would have pure knowledge of anything, we must be quit of the body- and then we shall attain the soul in herself must behold things in themselves: and then we shall attain the wisdom which we desire.

There was a Brahman girl who had in past ages practiced great benevolences. Apart from being respected and honored by people. But her mother uttered evil against the Triple- Gems. When the mother died, she was reborn in the Avici Hell (Hell of unceasing sufferings). Conscious of this Karma, from her earnest and filial devotion of making offerings to the Buddha and that her mother was relieved. But all sinners of the Avici Hell also benefited from it, for they ascended to Heaven on the same day. From Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra, Book II – Uttarâdhyayana: Lectures 3-6, Part 2 of 2

One of the oldest religions in the world is Jainism. Originating from ancient India, this philosophy centers around concepts such as right perception, right knowledge and right conduct in the attainment of moksha, or realization of the soul’s true nature. The concept of ahimsa, or non-violence, is of equally great importance. Thus, with compassion for all life, practitioners of Jainism follow a pure vegetarian (or vegan) diet. Lord Mahavira, who is considered to be the last Tirthakara. After attaining keval jnan, or all-knowing intuitive vision, he spent the rest of his life giving discourses on spiritual truths, which form the present-day tenets of Jainism. “All men who are ignorant of the Truth are subject to pain; in the endless Samsara (migration and transmigration) they suffer in many ways. Therefore a wise man, who considers well the ways that lead to bondage and birth, should himself search for the truth, and be kind towards all creatures.

From Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra, Book II – Uttarâdhyayana: Lectures 3-6, Part 1 of 2

Having been born as a man, having heard the Law, believing in it, and fulfilling it strenuously, an ascetic should restrain himself and shake off sinfulness. The pious obtain purity, and the pure stand firmly in the Law: the soul afterwards reaches the highest Nirvâna(paradise). Understand the world, be impartial like a sage, and guard one’s self. External things weaken the intellect and allure many; therefore keep them out of your mind. Keep off delusion, remove pride, do not practice deceit, leave off greed. Desire virtues till the end of your life. Death with one’s will is that of wise men.
