The flesh can be used fresh or dried in various confectionaries and desserts such as macaroons, coconut pie, etc. We can easily make coconut milk ourselves, buy or prepare finely grated coconut flesh, then mix it with warm water. Lightly squeeze the grounded coconut flesh to extract the milk. There are many useful household products that can be made from the coconut shells such as bowls, lanterns, water ladles. They’re very sturdy and eco-friendly! In summer, using dried coconut leaves to build a roof for a house or temporary shelter can help residence keep very cool.

It is very encouraging to find new grassroots organizations sprouting up every year. Indeed, the vegan landscape has changed so much compared to what it was a decade ago, thanks to all the heroes that we saw in the show and many others who have adopted a vegan lifestyle that benefits all.

But usually to get a baked pie crust, you have to put a lot of fat in it, which is not necessarily good for human health. So, I like to make a raw nut crust because then the fat is in the nut, so it’s healthy for humans. We’re going to use almonds, pecans. We’re going to use a little bit of dates.”

As we delve into the history of veg and vegan food in Japan, is that traditionally, for over 1,200 years, Japan’s agricultural and dietary practices were deeply rooted in a spiritual and mostly plant-based way of life. In Japanese, “ryori” means cooking or cuisine, and “shojin” coming from the Sanskrit word “vyria,” meaning to have goodness and keep evil away. Shojin Ryori has become a very important part of traditional and modern Japanese culture.

Today, we are going to visit Loving Hut Well-being Songchon located in Songchon-dong, north of Daejeon. This cozy and neat Loving Hut was opened ten years ago by Chef Shon Sang-young. As the name “Well-being” suggests, the restaurant seeks to provide customers with a healthy menu using carefully selected ingredients. Every dish in the Loving Hut uses purified clean water. We use Andean salt that is free from heavy metals and fine plastics, and specially-made bamboo salt. And raw sugar instead of refined sugar is used. I make my own sunflower seed oil, such as sesame oil and perilla oil. I also make soybean paste, soy sauce, and red pepper paste twice a year with carefully selected beans and salt. Now, Chef Shon will demonstrate two popular dishes served at Loving Hut Well-being Songchon, Perilla Seed Noodle Soup, and Cold Bean Soup with Rice Noodles.

Animal Rebellion was established in June 2019 by eighteen leading social justice groups in the UK, broadly known as the Rebellion Alliance. Both groups, Animal Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion, plead with the government to declare climate change as an emergency, to act with urgency to slash emissions to “net-zero” by 2025, and to set up a citizens’ assembly with legislative power. "Animal Rebellion’s goal is a world where all animals, all beings are free from exploitation and oppression.… We all need a stable climate to survive. And Animal agriculture is the leading cause. …So, the only way we can address the climate emergency is by first addressing the animal emergency, and the strategy that we’ll be using will be non-violent direct-action civil disobedience. When we do these actions, we really force the public to listen, and to hear this narrative that we are telling."

I became vegan because I didn’t want to live at the expense of any animals. I was so happy when Loving Hut Songchon opened in the nearby area. 'Bean Sprouts Bibimbap' is my favorite here. It’s full of vegetables, so deliciously cooked." Bibimbap is a traditional Korean dish, a rice bowl topped with various vegetables and chili paste. Loving Hut Well-being Songchon makes bibimbap with organic brown rice topped with vegetables and served with a side dish - Korean-style vegan BBQ beef, also known as Soy Bulgogi. That is why for the first target during its two-week-long October Rebellion event in October 2019, Animal Rebellion chose UK’s oldest and largest meat market, London’s Smithfield Meat Market. The second place it demonstrated at was the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). It asked the government to end subsidies for the livestock and fish industries, to encourage farmers to switch to growing crops, and to help them with the transition. “Please, we ask you, consider the world you want to leave behind for your children. We hope you’ll join us in this fight for peace, freedom, and a better, brighter future.”

And nowadays, the switch to a vegan diet is very easy. There are more and more (vegan) products, in restaurants, everywhere you go. It is possible to eat vegan. The second tip I can give, is that you can look up recipes on the internet, so you can convert your family’s favorite recipes into vegan dishes.”
