Today, we are privileged to feature a charismatic lady, Dolly Vyas-Ahuja, whose powerful example of unconditional love and tireless work for our precious animal friends in the last five years are worthy of our high esteem and accolades. Dolly moved with her family to the USA as a one-year-old. Although her family had traditionally been vegetarian, she was allowed to adopt a non-vegetarian diet. One day in April 2014, however, she came across a speech online known as “The Greatest Speech Ever” by renowned animal freedom fighter Gary Yourofsky. She was so shocked by the graphic depictions of what occurs behind closed doors on the factory farms of the world that she had an emotional breakdown that night, turning vegan from that day on. Becoming vegan awakened Dolly to the long spiritual heritage of her motherland, which is centered around the concept of ahimsa. Dolly upholds the ethics behind ahimsa in all forms, decrying not just meat and dairy, but also the use of honey, silk, eggs, and leather. She is dismayed that India, where cows are held sacred, is today one of the largest exporters of leather in the world. “A lot of people don't know, but India is one of the largest beef exporters in this world.” “We need to get this word ahimsa back, that originated in our country, because we've become so far away from it.” To achieve that goal, Dolly has been working tirelessly on a feature-length documentary entitled “The Land of Ahimsa,” which is scheduled for release in late 2020. “The Land of Ahimsa covers my journey of going vegan overnight, and going back to India to my motherland with two new sets of eyes to see – to see animal cruelty for the first time. And the movie covers a lot of amazing people here in the United States and in India.”

His Excellency Mr. Laurent Lamothe assumed the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Haiti right after the 2010 earthquake. In doing so, he witnessed firsthand the biggest natural disaster tragedy in the history of the Caribbean caused by extreme weather due to climate change. Years later, he was invited to the Monaco Better World Forum 2019, to share his experience in rebuilding the country as Haiti’s Prime Minister. His stance to protect our precious oceans is well-known, as was his leadership in Haiti with the banning of all importing, manufacturing, and marketing of plastic and foam containers (polyethylene and polystyrene products). His Excellency pointed out the importance of having a working strategy and his choice of being part of the solution by being vegan. His Excellency also indicated that the vegan solution should be made known worldwide to people across all spectrums because we are in extreme urgency right now. Talking has to turn into action. "What not to do as a government. So, we truly need citizens to be aware (of it). Not just at the level of government, but at the level of civil society, at the level of foundations, at the level of non-governmental organizations in order to work in unison.” “I personally am a vegan. So, I’ve already taken that step." "So, applying the Paris Accord would be the first thing for governments, and of course, that’s on a global scale. On the local scale…locally, is to give benefits, is to give credits to companies that are doing so. So, incentivizing companies and, ultimately is to encourage the shift also, to new solutions.” “Fight on the demand, fight on the price-based competition, so that the plant-based might be less expensive than the animal-based. On top of what I said before, which is the subsidies, which is lowering the pricing, which is incentivizing demand, which is competition, which is really raising awareness." "I think, that’s very important because the lobby is where the legislation will get shifted and get changed or will remain in the status quo."

We spoke to Selene in early February, 2020, at the Plant Powered Expo in London, where we were so excited to learn about her new book Yes Ve-Gan! Let’s hear what she had to tell us about this exciting time in her life. “So my new book Yes Ve-Gan! was published a month ago and it’s a blueprint for vegan living, so it’s letting people know how they can make the change and also explaining why you would want to; so it does cover the three main points: health, the environment and animals. But the reason why I really wanted to write it was because I wanted to communicate the joy of veganism; how happy it makes you, just something I never anticipated.” “The biggest shock I had when I went vegan was how much I loved it and that’s something that I see reflected all the time in other vegans. Every vegan I know says their only regret is not doing it sooner and I think there is a reason for that.” In 2018, Selene found herself in the middle of a public media storm when William Sitwell, the editor of a highly respected publication, Waitrose Food magazine, ridiculed her pitch to publish a series of vegan recipes. The email mocking vegans made headlines prompting lots of conversations on mainstream news media. In the midst of the storm, Selene had the opportunity to meet with the editor and talk about veganism, which reached over 650 million views online. Looking back at this episode in her career, Selene said, “I definitely didn’t expect that reaction from the editor. But I also never could have anticipated how big the story became and how angry it made some people. And I did already know that veganism was a highly divisive subject, but what that issue really brought home was the fact that eating animals, or not eating animals, is an extremely contentious issue.” In fact, one year later, William and Selene ended up on the cover of ‘The Telegraph Magazine’ talking about veganism. The beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai applauds all the vegan media in the world, and had this to say at a climate change conference in Washington DC. “The media has a very important role in our society, everybody knows that. The printed words are very powerful. People are too busy with their daily activities, so they look to the media for informing and reporting relevant events, important matters, and all necessary information for their lives. The talented Mrs. Lahav and her family reside in the bustling city of Tel Aviv, Israel. Liat’s transition to a vegan lifestyle was met with the typical challenges of customary habits and beliefs, but in her heart, she knew that a compassionate lifestyle must be led by example. "Well, my name is Liat Lahav. I launched SHANILI from passion for animals, compassion and love, and I called my brand 'Live Fashion, Walk Compassion,' because it’s fashion, first it’s fashion, and everybody loves fashion. And I wanted to show people and not only vegans, all people, that you can buy fashion and beautiful things that doesn’t need to have anything from animals. I’m using different kinds of microfibers. It can be like a suede, and really leather-like, like smooth leather. And until you see it and touch it and wear it, you can’t understand and believe that it’s not leather. It’s exactly the same. And it’s very good material. It’s synthetic. It’s very easy to process it. And it doesn’t damage the Earth, like the leather does. And especially, you can reproduce them because it’s synthetic. So, it’s recycling. So, it’s only a win-win situation. My dream, and this is my vision and my first purpose, is to bring the opportunity for vegans, vegetarians and anybody else who doesn’t want to consume animal products, to bring them the fashion into their lives. I’m all the time announcing that SHANILI is the pioneer for the vegan fashion revolution. And I’m working to get there. And so, I’m asking everybody here in Israel and outside Israel, if you know how you can help me to achieve that, and to bring the vegan fashion to the world, just I’m here. To encourage the ongoing trend toward a plant-based food system, His Excellency Mr. Lamothe suggests that the governments provide Much-needed support to animal livestock farmers so that they can make a successful transition to plant-based farming. “You know, Haiti’s a very proud country, very proud people and we, we feel that we contributed a lot to the black world and we showed to, at the time, the white countries, that slave ownership was completely reprehensible and we rebelled against it and we won. So, that's a super idea that you give. I wish I was still in office and maybe taking the lead upon that and maybe trying to push the country towards that. But it's not far from that, because you know in Haiti you eat lots of vegetables. The people, especially the rural area, that's probably all they eat. Generally, there is a good foundation, I would say, for a vegan revolution there.”His Excellency Laurent Lamothe worked tirelessly on several challenging fronts. From designing and implementing social policies, to alleviating extreme poverty, to securing investments, to relocating the thousands of unsheltered Haitians affected by the 2010 earthquake, to tackling insecurity and rehabilitating schools, public buildings, bridges, and roads, His Excellency set to the task of rebuilding a resilient, prosperous, peaceful Haiti.The world-renowned spiritual master, Supreme Master Ching Hai, commented on this special quality during a conference with Supreme Master Television team members in September 2020. She said: “Peace is the most precious thing that any president can give to his country and the world.” His Excellency Mr. Lamothe Advocates for “Climate-Smart Zones” in The Caribbean, a project of The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator which was formed in 2017, to strengthen the region’s readiness and response to disasters. Everybody’s worried, but little is done. What we need now is action, action from the governments to inform people and to reinforce the new life-saving diet. That’s the vegan diet. I hope the governments would please, make it into law to forbid the killing of animals, to forbid any more animal livestock raising. If they are truly the leaders that pledge to protect their people, to improve their country in many aspects, then this is the first step we have to do. Today, it is our privilege to feature one of the top ultra-endurance athletes on the planet, Fiona Oakes, from Essex, England, UK. Fiona is one of the greatest athletes in the world judging by her records. She is the Guinness World Record holder for the fastest female in cumulative time to complete a marathon within the Antarctic Circle, as well as on the other six continents, at 23 hours, 27 minutes and 40 seconds. She also holds the Guinness World Records for the fastest female to complete a marathon on each of the seven continents plus the North Pole, in both aggregate time (28 hours, 20 minutes, and 50 seconds) and elapsed time (225 days and 18 hours). Fiona has been dubbed the “Queen of the Extreme” by her peers due to her grit in some of the most challenging races in the world. “I didn’t take to running because I wanted to run, I wanted to promote veganism and the benefits of a plant-based diet. I realized, I can rescue animals, and I can deliver harmonic existence for those in my care, but for the billions out there who are suffering, I can’t touch. How do I do that? And that was when I formulated the idea of going out and running. The reason was I wanted a platform to speak out.” “There was no social media at the time; the only thing that I was fairly good at was sports, but not running, but the only attention in sports for women was Paula Radcliffe who was running the marathon, and it had all kinds of hashtags, if you like. This is the toughest event in the athletic calendar, and if you can complete a marathon you can do anything.” Today, at the age of 51. Fiona’s running career remains in full swing. It is safe to say that she has proven what she had set out to prove: that a lifelong plant-based diet can sustain the highest levels of sports performance and physical health: “I am living proof of it, I’ve been running now for 20 years.
