Aylam Orian (vegan) and the National Animal Rights Day, Part 1 of 2

Today, we have the honor to feature American actor and animal rights activist Aylam Orian. In addition to his love of performing, Aylam has cared for the animals and their well-being from a very young age. In 2011, Mr. Orian brought together animal rights activists for what would eventually become the first National Animal Rights Day or NARD. “But we put on this event that was well attended. We called it ‘Our Planet. Theirs Too.’ But we did get people from all groups to come. We wrote the Declaration of Animal Rights. And it's actually the first National Animal Rights Day, June 5. This is a big event that celebrates animals, and the planet, and how humans can live with both in peace and harmony. And we really want to show people that another world is possible.” After that first NARD event in 2011, the ceremony spread to states all over the US and eventually throughout the world, including this ceremony in Los Angeles, California, USA, in 2015. “They took you from your family and stuck you in a testing place. They snatched you from your mommy before she touched your face. They sent you to the circus ring to amuse the laughing crowds. They stripped you of your hair and skin and threw you on the ground. But even in these moments, we wanted you to know that we see you, we hear you, we feel you; we love you, that you are not alone. One day on this ravaged earth, when blood and tears subside, everything will be so calm and green from side to side. Animals like me and you will share this place in peace. And there will be no suffering, just joy and love and ease.” Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily present Aylam Orian with the Shining World Compassion Award, with a loving gift of US$10,000 towards your noble organization, Our Planet. Theirs Too. Lots of love, praises and prayers for your success, in God’s mercy.” For more information about Aylam Orian’s projects, please visit the following websites: The National Animal Rights Day TheNARD.org Our Planet. Patrick Furlotti – Making a Difference for the Human Family

Patrick grew up in Southern California, USA, where he developed a strong affinity for the ocean. He also learned early on that communities of like-minded individuals can accomplish things that benefit the greater good. In 2012, he co-founded a nonprofit organization called the Global Mana Foundation to find solutions for global sustainability. Seven years later, Patrick started Projects for Good, a community aggregator platform that brings together ideas, finances, resources, and people to deal with social, economic, and environmental issues. He is dedicated to a cleaner Earth. Patrick has always had a deep love for the environment. This man of action sees his latest undertaking, Projects For Good (PFG), as a big step forward. With Projects for Good, one can also find assistance to accomplish their initiative by advertising paid or volunteer work related to the endeavor. Patrick sees no stopping. He believes the forward-thinking PEG model - where everyone is enabled to contribute to a higher cause - has powerful potential to significantly benefit our world and its inhabitants.

The Gubbio Project – Giving Respite to San Francisco’s Unsheltered

The Tenderloin neighborhood is one of the most economically challenged districts in San Francisco, California, USA, where many people are struggling to get by. In 2004, community activist Shelly Roder and the Reverend Father Louis Vitale created a program called “The Gubbio Project,” now a non-profit organization. Through this initiative, the St. Boniface Catholic Church in the Tenderloin and St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco’s Mission District provide daily temporary shelter to the homeless along with comforting items like blankets and services such as massages and foot care. The churches allow the homeless to have what Father Vitale calls “sacred sleep” inside church walls. The homeless are also invited to attend Mass and pray for guidance from Jesus Christ. This special arrangement provides a message of friendship - everyone is part of the community and deserves respect and kind treatment. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to each the Reverend Father Louis Vitale and The Gubbio Project plus US$20,000 to The Gubbio project as a token of love to further its heartfelt assistance to San Francisco’s homeless.”

WEMA HOME – Bringing Hope and Love to Benin, Part 3 of 3

WEMA HOME – Bringing Hope and Love to Benin, Part 3 of 3

A WEMA HOME project that has been running independently since 2009 involves the upcycling of plastic bags. Women collect used bags and cut them into strips. They then use these pieces to crochet bags, hats, purses, and cell phone cases. The participant gain extra income from the goods sold. WEMA HOME has a partnership with “One Dollar Glasses.” This is a German charity that enables underprivileged persons in the developing world to acquire eyeglasses for the cost of just on dollar. To what extent does WEMA HOME endeavor to achieve sustainability in its projects? “Sustainability is a 100% given, because we only initiate the projects and they will be continued by the Beninese themselves.” We asked Marianne Dötzer what wisdom she has gained from her many years of charitable activities in Benin. “Through my work, I have learned a lot, especially about being calm, being patient, having perseverance, and trusting in people, and knowing, okay, they will know what they are doing here.” Marianne Dötzer is a member of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, and we asked her how the Quan Yin Method of meditation and Master have influenced her benevolent work. “I helped me a lot because I have confidence and trust in Master. If something was too difficult and things don’t move forward, then the inner Master will tell me when the time is right. And not to be desperate, but to move on, to continue, to go on. And She is with me! Supreme Master TV is a very good reminder so that we can develop our Noble Quality more in a positive way. Supreme Master TV is a great platform that reminds us or shows us good things that happen around the world.”

WEMA HOME – Bringing Hope and Love to Benin, Part 2 of 3

WEMA HOME – Bringing Hope and Love to Benin, Part 2 of 3

In Benin, restoring the fertility of agricultural land is a pressing concern. WEMA HOME and Marianne use their best efforts to raise people’s consciousness regarding the value of soil preservation. In 2001, WEMA HOME initiated a land restoration project by partnering with the renowned Jane Goodall Institute, a global wildlife and environmental conservation organization, and its children’s branch, Roots & Shoots whose goal is to encourage youth all over our world to better their respective communities for people, animals, and the environment. Under this initiative, school children are allotted a piece of deforested or degraded land and are responsible for rehabilitating it. The key goals include: 1. Bettering youth appreciation and respect for local flora and fauna 2.Reviving traditional medicinal plant knowledge 3. Protecting natural resources 4. Documenting the vegetation development in the protected area. “Now we realize that has made a huge difference. The children, the little ones who have grown with us, now understand the reason for nature conservation, and what nature conservation is, what it brings.” In this West African nation, agriculture is the most important source of income. WEMA HOME supports the Beninese people by encouraging groups to grow vegetables like tomatoes, chilies, green beans, corn, and yams, as well as cultivate fruit orchards, using organic methods. Through this sustainable farming system, the depleted land can be restored, and the yields can be boosted.

WEMA HOME – Bringing Hope and Love to Benin, Part 1 of 3

The goals of WEMA HOME are helping children and adolescents to access education and work, improving the working and living conditions of girls and women, curbing rural exodus and child trafficking, and promoting environmental protection and nature conservation. “We encourage people to support themselves.” WEMA HOME believes there is no future without education. Marianne built Gobada’s first elementary school in 2002. Aside from basic education, vocational training is also provided in a wide range of fields. The charity built a training center for girls so they may learn practical skills and eventually independently support themselves. WEMA HOME believes that with a little help in the right place, you can change the lives of many people for the better. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Happily present the Shining World Compassion Award in God’s love to the WEMA HOME organization plus US$25,000 as a loving token of support toward this noble work. May Heaven continue to strengthen all involved to help the needy with all love.”

In 2019, there were 18 individuals presented the Gusi Peace Prize. Supreme Master Ching Hai was invited by the Gusi Foundation to attend the 2019 awards ceremony. Unable to join due to the carbon footprint from flying to the Philippines and Her many work obligations. She sent a loving recorded message to the attendees. We now present the second half of Master’s message that was played during the Gusi Peace Prize Awards Night held on November 27, 2019. “If we don’t demand their flesh, if we don’t eat them, if we boycott the animal-meat cruelty, so-called industry, then they will be safe, saved and in real peace. Then we truly contribute to world peace: real, whole world peace. I am speaking from my own experience. Your conscience will be free, your health will be good and your hearts will be really at peace, now and always.”

Theoklitos Proestakis: Savior of Crete’s Homeless Dogs and Cats

Today we will share a touching story about a wonderful man who is a Shining World Compassion Award laureate and has rescued over 1,000 abandoned or stray dogs and cats. He has to work 20 hours each day and hardly has any time to rest, only sleeping 2-3 hours daily. “But for me, I just feel that I want to help them when I see these dogs suffering from pain. They have a soul, so I want to help them. It makes me feel so good.” In 2019, along with giving Theoklitos Proestakis the Shining World Compassion Award to recognize his splendid work on behalf of homeless animals, Supreme Master Ching Hai made a kind contribution of US$15,000 to the Takis Shelter. And as this show is being presented to you, Supreme Master Ching Hai: further "arrange to send US$30,000 to this compassionate shelter. With all love and tears of sympathy as well as gratitude to Theoklitos Proestakis and all helpers."
