King Lý Thánh Tông – The Compassionate Emperor – Part 2 of 3

In all the King’s policies, the peace and happiness of the citizens came first. During the period of poor harvest resulting in the loss of crops, the King would exempt taxes and even open the royal storehouse to distribute rice, money and fabrics to the needy. The reason the King deeply emphathized with the citizens was that while as a crown prince, He was asked by His king father, to stay in the Long palace in the suburb so that he could live close to the people. Therefore, He understood very well their hard life and difficulties.

In Gratitude to Mothers’ Boundless Love, Part 3 of 4

If you can, you turn on the machine to wash your clothes yourself. And you can clean the floor, help her to wash dishes, tidy up the house. Don’t throw socks and hats everywhere. Even if she goes out to work outside the house, when she comes home, she still needs to do a lot of work at home. Because the more you grow up, the older and more tired the mother becomes with the years. The stronger you grow, the weaker Mom becomes, so try to think about her feelings, her physical condition and give a lot, a lot of love to the mother, and father of course.

In Gratitude to Mothers’ Boundless Love, Part 2 of 4

Those who still have mothers are the luckiest people. When I met my parents the first time in many decades in Hong Kong, I felt like I’m a kid. I feel like so free, you know what I mean? Feel like you don’t have to feel responsible for anything. If you say something wrong, it’s OK. If you don’t do your job well today, that’s OK. You feel young again, like spoiled children again, and it was a very, very beautiful feeling. If you have your parents still and you still can stay with them, I suggest you stay with them as long as you can, because it is a blessing to stay with parents.

In Gratitude to Mothers’ Boundless Love, Part 1 of 4

I give thanks to all the mothers. I thank all the mothers everywhere in the world and in the universes, for giving a chance for the enlightened Masters to come to our world and other worlds to enlighten us, to bless the planets, and to bring happiness, improvement, better atmosphere, good changes for all beings to benefit. Mothers are the hardest workers of all the workers, especially if she has children under ten, then she works like 24/7. Motherhood or housekeeper, housewife, housewife are the most occupied jobs in the world, right? But mostly it’s the most unthankful job.

Traditonal Musical Instrument: Enchanting Mandolin, Part 2 of 2

Traditonal Musical Instrument: Enchanting Mandolin, Part 2 of 2

The exquisite sounds of the mandolin resonate back over a millennium, with recorded instances of mandolin music from the Medieval period (500-1400AD), up to the Renaissance (1400-1600), through the Baroque period (1600-1740AD) and onwards, to our current era. In Medieval times, the lute, a precursor to the modern mandolin, was widely played and appreciated. One branch of its evolution was the mandore, which arose in the Renaissance period and in turn, during the Baroque period, brought forth what we now call the mandolin.

Traditonal Musical Instrument: Enchanting Mandolin, Part 1 of 2

Although there are many variations, the mandolin generally has a hollow wooden body that includes a soundboard with a teardrop shape. Today, the mandolin plays a vital role in both orchestral and bluegrass music. As Mr. Nigel Woodhouse, a professional mandolinist who has played with many world-renowned orchestras and ensembles, explains: “… the mandolin has two of each string; they’re close pairs intended to be played as one string. It’s the doubling of the strings which gives the mandolin its particular resonance and sustain.”

Mr. Won has continued to facilitate dialogue in Korea, with support from embassies, country leaders, and influential musicians. Lindenbaum Festival started as bringing peace through music, especially orchestral music, because of the power of the orchestra. Language has its limits. Then there is music. So, I hope we teach ways to communicate with music. So, I think the musician’s role here is very important. And I hope the unification of North and South will come true through music.

A Blissful Reunion in Hsihu, the 2019 Lunar New Year Celebration, Part 6 of 6

Ever since I was a kid, she took care of me like a mother. She's like my second mother. And even she has family already, she always took me with her wherever she goes, except when I was sometime in high school and some... But then later she managed to tell my mother to let me go with her. So I stayed many years with her. Even she has kids already, she still loved me like when I was young. She always decorated me, put ribbon in my hair, combed my hair, and dressed me up like a princess.

A Blissful Reunion in Hsihu, the 2019 Lunar New Year Celebration, Part 5 of 6

She’d gone very quick to the New Land because she was a great Saint and she suffered so much for the world, just to get 3.4 percent of peace to help me out. We had only 93 percent already. So the four of them help to make it over the 100. It’s better that way. It’s more strong, but they suffer a lot, a lot. I could not do anything because it’s their choice. They want it that way. I told her I’m very proud of her, very proud of them. This is the way we should live our life. Not wanting what we don’t have, but want what we have. And be happy, humbly serve the society, earn your honest living, and do your spiritual practice. And that’s what I’m proud of.

Keyboard Music from Baroque and Classical Periods, Part 2 of 2

Through pure notes, harmonious chords, different tempos and rhythms, composers fill our imagination and emotions with their music. One such composer was Ludwig van Beethoven. He was born in Germany in 1770 and lived until 1827. In his early 20s, he moved to Vienna, where he studied with other gifted musicians Franz Joseph Haydn, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, and Antonio Salieri. From this point on, he was recognized as a virtuoso of the piano.

Vaisakhi: Celebrating the Sikh New Year in the Punjab

Vaisakhi: Celebrating the Sikh New Year in the Punjab

Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, marks the Sikh new year. On this day, we celebrate the spring harvest tradition as well as the birth of the Sikh homeland in the Punjap region of India. In Hinduism, it marks the Goddess Ganga’s descent to Earth. In India, Hindu devotees visit temples and take ritual bath in the sacred Ganges, Jhelum, and Kaveri rivers. They believe that the sacred waters will wash their sins away. For thousands of years, the tradition of Vaisakhi has been celebrated as a festival for the harvesting of Rabi crops (winter crops) at springtime. On Vaisakhi day, village folk take to the fields in color attire and sing and dance. The reading aloud of scriptures, the chanting of hymns, music, the fairs, and the parades all form an inherent part of Vaisakhi celebrations.
