In today’s news, Zambia receives financial assistance from World Bank for cleaning up mining sites, study urges extending COVID-19 economic relief program in the United Kingdom, Hyundai and Apple partnership for self-driving electric vehicles possibly in the works, Chinese submersible explores Earth’s deepest ocean trench, Kazakhstan ends the death penalty, United States NBA professional basketball player stars in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) vegan ads, and donkey stranded on South African island rescued.

World Bank supports decontamination of areas surrounding mines in Zambia.

The World Bank has allocated US$65 million to the Zambian government’s Zambia Mining and Environmental Remediation and Improvement Project (ZMERIP), for cleaning up contaminated soil around mines in at least four municipalities. In sites around schools in the Central Province’s city of Kabwe, the infrastructure will be improved to prevent lead mine run-off. More than 3,000 Kabwe youngsters are now receiving lead testing, treatment and additional nutrition through ZMERIP. The project will also help safeguard about 70,000 people from lead contamination by remediating polluted hotspots. Lead awareness campaigns will be conducted to benefit at least 30,000 youngsters. Furthermore, the initiative will create green jobs for unemployed women and young people. Zambia is a Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance recipient and a laureate of the Shining World Leadership Award for Caring Government. Our applause, World Bank and Zambian government, for your earth-loving collaboration. May these sites quickly be cleaned and the gentle Zambian people enjoy robust health, in Heaven’s blessings.

Study urges continued COVID-19 economic relief retention in United Kingdom.

A report by the Britain-based nonprofit Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) found that from 2017 to 2019, the number of impoverished people in the UK increased by 54% to approximately 2.4 million, of which 550,000 were children. Significantly, the destitution levels are expected to double due to the COVID-19 crisis. To alleviate the situation, JRF is calling for social security system reforms. This includes the national government retaining the £20-a-week uplift to Universal Credit, a monthly living cost payment, that was launched in March 2020 and ends in April 2021. The paper warns that 6.2 million struggling families would suffer enormous financial challenges, if the payment augmentation program is not extended. Our heartfelt gratitude, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, for your important report. May care and assistance be provided to all vulnerable members of British society to improve their lives, in God’s mercy.

Up next, Hyundai and Apple partnership for self-driving electric vehicles possibly in the works. We’ll just take a little time to thank the metro transit police officers that work even during the holidays to keep the stations safe and secure for the public. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more uplifting news.

Hi, adorable friends, I am Owen the vegan Ocelot. Do you want to know how I became so awesome? My power comes from plants! I would like to share a tip on how to trim your dog companion’s nails effectively. Prior to clipping, you can help them adjust to the process by having him or her get used to their feet being touched. Carefully pick up each of their paws and touch their toes and nails for several seconds, slowly increasing the time until they are accustomed to being handled in these sensitive areas. For puppies, play with their feet, nails and in between their toes. Be aware that some canines will not enjoy this at first, but it will help keep them calm when it’s time for nail trimming. Thanks for tuning in and love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet thus save the world. Now, the global weather.

Apple and Hyundai may jointly produce autonomous electric vehicles.

US tech giant Apple and Korean car company Hyundai have discussed the possible production of self-driving electric cars. The automobiles may be manufactured in the United States in a plant owned by Hyundai’s sister company Kia Motors, with 100,000 vehicles possibly assembled in 2024. An agreement between the two corporations has not yet been reached. Wonderful news, Apple and Hyundai, on the possible partnership for making autonomous green cars. May many more zero-emission electric vehicle models become available to consumers, as the world transitions to an eco-friendly global economy.

Chinese submersible reaches planet’s deepest ocean trench.

China recently sent a submersible named “Fendouzhe” or “Striver” with three researchers on board to the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean that is over 2,550 kilometers long. Their small vehicle traveled 10,909 meters below the western Pacific Ocean’s surface to study the environment and collect samples with Striver’s robotic arms. The vessel touching the trench’s deepest point, called Challenger Deep, was live-streamed. Repeated dives will be undertaken to test the submersible’s technology. China is a Shining World Leadership Award for Wise Governance recipient and a laureate of six Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, and Shining World Leadership Awards for Protection, Environmental Protection, Wildlife-Protection, and Compassionate Protection. Congratulations, China, on successfully traveling to the deepest part of the Earth’s oceans to examine the many wonders of our planet. May your ongoing research lead to a greater understanding of our precious environment, as we seek to honor Mother Nature in Divine upliftment.

Kazakhstan ends use of death penalty.

The president of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance laureate, recently signed a law making his nation a party to the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. This is a global agreement that obligates signatory countries to abolish the death penalty. So far, the Optional Protocol has been signed by 89 states. In 2003, capital punishment was suspended in Kazakhstan by presidential decree, but courts could still issue such sentences. However, no executions have been conducted by the state for nearly two decades. Our high salute, Kazakhstan and Your Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on your noble actions “to fulfill a fundamental right to life and human dignity.” In Allah’s comforting love, may every nation protect life as we enter the golden age of forgiveness and healing.

Coming up, United States NBA professional basketball player stars in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) vegan ads. We’ll take a little moment to send well wishes to everyone for the Lunar New Year holiday season. More supporting news coming up on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Admirable News for a Commendable World.

United States Professional basketball player appears in new PETA vegan ads.

In 2020, National Basketball Association (NBA) player Enes Kanter had the opportunity to watch and read about the inherent cruel treatment of animals in livestock factories. The Portland Trail Blazers’ center said that his “heart shattered” on learning of the inhumanity occurring in the animal industry, and that he also realized that everything he had previously thought about regarding meat in our diet to be healthy and strong was incorrect, after researching plant-based eating’s health benefits. Enes now eats mostly vegan. He is starring in three People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) new year ads with the theme “Think Vegan.” PETA is a Shining World Compassion Award recipient. You are awesome, Enes Kanter and PETA, and we applaud your promotion of consuming animal-free foods. In Heaven’s benediction, may humanity now guard our innocent animal friends’ lives by choosing vegan.

Donkey rescued from small South African island.

After the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was informed that a donkey was stranded on an island on the Vaal Dam near Deneysville, South Africa, it sent a rescue craft accompanied by a veterinarian. Using a stretcher, NSRI brought the malnourished and stressed donkey back to the mainland. The darling animal was then happily reunited with his caregivers. The adventurous friend had apparently gone to the island four weeks earlier when water levels were low, but became trapped when the water rose again. We are delighted to hear of the lovely donkey’s safe return! Many thanks, National Sea Rescue Institute and all involved. May the donkey and his human family have many more happy years together basking in each other’s loving company, in Divine radiance.

It’s that time again. Here comes your next smile with a joke entitled “The City that Never Sleeps.”

A family was dazzled by the sights and the bustling crowds, during a visit to New York City.

“So, this is the city that never sleeps...”

“That’s probably because there’s a coffee shop on every corner.”

And now we have a heartline from disciples in Taiwan, also known as Formosa:

To beloved Master: The elevated stairway to the True Home radiates in boundless glory.

Oh! Just one glance back Lingering clouds of ignorance, calls of beings waiting for liberation.

You work day after day, guiding the lost souls to find their way back.

As the New Year draws near, We devote in all humbleness for the blessing of God Our most beloved Master We will follow Your every step, to help our fellow brethren in awakening.

May the eternal light grace our Earth and beyond. Our heartfelt prayer to Master for a year of success and attainment.

Best regards, From disciples in Taiwan (Formosa)

Uplifted Taiwanese (Formosan) disciples, Your profound words express the thoughts of many on this planet, especially ours, deeply. We appreciate your heartline and pray that all beings find salvation in the Buddha’s grace.
