Shining World Compassion Award - Mr. Ram Bahadur Neupane, The Guardian Angel of Bovine Friends

Today, Iet’s travel to Kathmandu, Nepal, to meet a saintly social worker, Mr. Ram Bahadur Neupane. Gentle and kind, he has dedicated nearly a decade of his life to rescue distressed and neglected cows wandering the streets of Nepal. Apart from providing them with food, medical care, and love, he has created a safe haven to shelter them for life. Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai, upon learning of Mr. Neupane’s noble efforts, gratefully offered: “US$30,000 and the Shining World Compassion Award.” “I believe the Earth is a common home for everyone. Everyone should be allowed to live. We want to provide shelter and protection for everyone, from the elderly fathers, mothers, mentally challenged people, from our brothers and sisters living in the streets, to street dogs and to all the beings. This is our broader vision.”

Veg Philosophy: A Rational Quest for Peaceful Existence

Today, in celebrating November 1, World Vegan Day, we invite you to hear what the great philosophers and ethicists have to say about the life choices concerning food, animal rights, and the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. "To affirm life is to deepen, to make more inward, and to exalt the will-to-live. At the same time, the man who has become a thinking being feels a compulsion to give to every will-to-live the same reverence for life that he gives to his own." "That a man was not born a carnivorous animal but born to live on the fruits and herbs that the earth grows…. The basis of my vegetarianism is not physical, but moral."

Dr. Albert Einstein (vegetarian): Nobel Laureate and Scientist Extraordinaire, Part 2 of 2

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” - Dr. Albert Einstein. In respecting the sanctity of all lives, throughout his existence, Dr. Albert Einstein believed in the ideals of vegetarianism. He wrote in a letter to Germany Vegetarian Watch-Tower on December 27, 1930: "…I have long been an adherent to the cause in principle. Besides agreeing with the aims of vegetarianism for aesthetic and moral reasons, it is my view that a vegetarian manner of living by its purely physical effect on the human temperament would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind." Dr. Einstein's respect for life naturally led him to be a humanitarian and advocate for social justice, freedom, and peace. With the onset of the atomic era, Dr. Einstein realized that nuclear weapons were a profound risk to humanity and could bring an end to civilization. During the last decade of his life, he was tireless in his efforts to create effective international cooperation to disarm nuclear weapons and to prevent wars.

The Vegan Princess's Kitchen, Part 2 of 2 - The Lovely Jackfruit Tacos with Avocado Slaw and Vegan Cheese Sauce

Let’s now enjoy their cooking demonstration. The finale of the jackfruit and taco. Here we go. We’re going to turn it on. We’re going to start by taking a can of jackfruit. And then we’re going to throw in 32 ounces (950 milliliters) of vegetable broth. Turn your pot on high. And then we’re going to add in two tomatoes, chopped, and also one jalapeño, one serrano pepper. And then a pinch of salt. And then we have two tablespoons of paprika. And then we’re going to add three tablespoons of Bragg’s Coconut Aminos, organic, of course. This is a South African smoke blend. And then a chili-lime seasoning blend. You guys can season together. Double time! You’re going to fill your taco with your jackfruit mixture. May we have some slaw? And then you're going to drizzle your (vegan) cheese sauce. Like that. There’s your taco.

Plant-powered Athletes Unleashed, Part 2 of 2

Athletic training and performance requires a vast amount of energy to fuel the body, and many people like to know what to eat on a plant-based diet. “My first recommendation is to add more unrefined, plant-based products, starting with fruits and vegetables definitely, which is what our society is so deficient in.” The Vegan Power Athlete group stands for more than just winning races and medals; it also promotes the realization of the power to be a voice for the well-being of our animal friends, humans, and our planet. “It is a world full of injustices in which, I believe we have to make a change. For me, being an athlete is not having to consume products that are destroying our planet, that are taking the life of someone innocent. Give other sentient beings, like us, the rights we ask for:freedom, love, and happiness.” “Well, my message would be that we wake up and raise our conscience, that we are really reasonable and intelligent beings, who know how to make the best decisions.” “There is nothing we cannot get with a plant-based diet.”

Costa Rican Vegan Power Athlete member, Sebastián Fernandez Mora shares his experience with us. “The diet has definitely helped me a lot with recovery, it has been wonderful.” Vegan Power Athlete member and personal trainer, José Ricardo has also experienced the same incredible recovery and mental charity on a 100% plant-based diet.

Shining World Compassion Award Recipient: North Vally Animal Disaster Group, Part 2 of 2

We are honored to speak to one of their board members, Ms. Debbie Mueller. “All of our shelters and agencies have been greatly supported from all over the United States and other countries. And we served a lot of animals and for most people, our animals are part of our family and it’s just another important life that needs to be saved.” Debbie has graciously shared with us what we should do for our animal friends to prepare animal friends to prepare for unprecedented situations. “You should have a go plan for yourself and your animal and a go bag. So a plan being, ‘OK, where am I going to go if there is a disaster? Whose home can I go to? Do I have friends or family elsewhere? Are my pets or animals welcome?’ If you have large animals, you need to look at, are there surrounding stables or ranch land where you could take your animals?” We would like to give you the Shining World Compassion Award from Supreme Master Ching Hai for North Valley Animal Disaster Group in recognition of courageous selfless advocacy for voiceless animals, protecting, defending, and sheltering during adversity. With compliments and gratitude for your compassionate and benevolent commitment to save precious animal live.

Conscientious Governments, Conscientious Citizens: Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada (Part 11)

From 1995 to 2018, Cambodia’s economy has enjoyed an annual growth rate of 8%, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world, thanks to robust garment exports and a prosperous tourist trade. Cambodia also protects its natural resources. Veganism is also rising in Cambodia. In the capital city Phnom Penh alone, we have 59 vegetarian-friendly restaurants. In 2018, Cameroon and its neighboring country Equatorial Guinea reopened their shared border, following a period of unrest. Trade has immediately improved and businesses of all sizes have received the benefits. The government is also helping rural farmers to gain more skills to earn extra income while saving precious forests. In 2019, Canada became the 160th member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Also, the eastern Canadian province of Nova Scotia granted almost 6,000 immigrants permanent residency status in 2018. A new study from Dalhousie University finds that over 2.3 million Canadians, or nearly 10% of the population, consider themselves vegetarian or vegan. That makes Canada one of the most compassionate countries in the world.

Tal Gilboa: At The Forefront of Inspiring Israel's Vegan Movement, Part 2 of 3

In 2013 Tal Gilboa co-founded “Israel Animal Liberation Front” which was renamed “Total Liberation Israel” in 2018. This is one of the fastest growing social movements of our time calling for the total liberation of animals everywhere through marches, rallies and blockading trucks to the slaughter houses etc. The animal justice movement is increasingly attracting adherents across Israel and the activism is paving the way for a new era in animal rights. Besides various initiatives including creative protests and demonstrations, Tal Gilboa was also delivering lectures to diverse audiences: from high-school students to the military, business and political decision-makers. Her passion for animal causes took her to face unchartered territory, to compete for the first time and won the 6th edition of the intense contest of HaAh HaGadol. “Half a million people changed their diet while I was there. And everything that I did was just to think about, ‘It's going to do good for the animals or not?’”

Prophecy of the Golden Age Part 73 - Native American Prophecies with Chief Phil Lane Jr.

According to The Honorable Native American Chief Phil Lane Jr., enlightened Masters have always been coming to bless our world, helping to move our human civilization forward to a freer, more inclusive and advanced state. The gentle presence of each enlightened Messenger has had a ripple effect that elevated our world in ways we may never fully perceive. And it is still true in our modern time. One autumn day in 1993, an intuitive kinship led a respected Native American medicine man to invite a living Master and Her disciples to his home. The time together was brief but impressions. In an inspired moment, Thomas One Wolf expressed what enlightened Masters meant to the Native American people, in sharing his thoughts about Supreme Master Ching Hai. “Her wisdom is knowledge shared, remember something: ‘the only word you are really hearing is Joy.’ When you are walking with Her and you see people that will respect and honor Her way and pay homage to Her, then you are gifted by the gift of Her peace. These are what Masters are to the Indian.”

Planting Benevolent Seeds in Children's Hearts – Nepal's Shree Lho Basic School, Part 1 of 2

The Reverend Acharya Sonam Dorje Rinpoche built the Shree Lho Basic School to take care of orphans as well as underprivileged and marginalized children by providing food and board while they receive an education. He also wished to incorporate the fundamental teachings of Buddhism into the courses so the children could receive moral guidance through this ancient wisdom to cultivate love and compassion. As it is a spiritual boarding school, teachers play an influential role in making Buddhism’s teachings close to the children’s hearts, along with providing attentive care to them and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits. "This is a very rural area, here almost 80-90% of the local population is uneducated. As these people here have their own hardships, and didn’t get a chance to be educated in their time. They wish to have hope for their coming generations to get a good education and do better in life." "The people residing in this school, located in a Buddhist area, do not slaughter animals for food, and hence everybody eats vegetarian food in this school. Conservation of animals, such as these is also emphasized in the books."

Gracious Governments, Gracious Citizens: Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, and Burundi

Today we are going to share with you many positive changes from our home countries. With God’s grace, organic agriculture in Bulgaria has had the highest rate of expansion in the whole of Europe, more than tripling in recent years. Moreover, Bulgaria is taking a step closer to completely banning fur trade. In the last few years, veganism has seen exponential growth in Bulgaria. Now let me introduce positive changes in my beautiful country, Burkina Faso. Burkina Faso has shown positive changes in many aspects including increased access to natural resources, drinking water quality, health care and the empowerment of woman and the youth. Now let’s hear from Gloria about her lovely country, Burundi. According to the United Nations Children’s Found(UNICEF), the percentage of children attending primary school increased from 59% in 2005 to 96% in 2011. Positive Trends in 2019 for a Bright New 2020, Part 3 of 3

We have heard in the first two segments, 2019 has been a huge year for veganism, with rapid growth reported across the world. In South America, citizens of Chile are also working to make the world a better, more eco-conscious place. We are honored to have the Mayor of Curacavi, the Honorable Juan Pablo Barros, speak about what encouraged him to make the decision to reduce the use of plastic bags here in Curacavi. "We saw that there were initiatives to reduce or eliminate the use of plastic bags in other communities in the south of our country that were very interesting initiatives. I think it is everyone’s responsibility to protect that environment." We now welcome Professor Dr. Lee Sung-Choon, who is an expert on unification and speaks about the wonderful progress that has been made in inter-Korean relations. "Recently, there were a total of three unprecedented inter-Korea summit meetings, beginning with last year’s historic Panmunjeom Korea summit meeting. And gave hope to the world citizens who hope for peace. At the macro level, constant progress is being made for peace. Perfect peace on the Korean Peninsula will come."

Animal Heroes: Love Beyond Species

On today’s program, we will show you some examples of animals assisting other animals, regardless of their species. Macaque Monkeys Adopt Stray Puppies. In January 2016, people in the southern Indian city of Erode observed a macaque monkey caring for a little stray puppy. She acted like a mother, defending him from unfriendly dogs and removing fleas and dirt from his coat. The loving bond between the two animals melted many people’s hearts. It certainly seems true that love knows no borders. Many times, when there is an animal in need, another animal will provide assistance without hesitation. Our next story demonstrates the compassion of a dolphin for two stranded whales. A big hip, hip, hurrah for all the noble animals featured today! We are very proud of what you have done and you truly are excellent examples of your respective species’ inherent kindness.

Donkeys: Our Clever and Empathetic Helpers

My ancestors were wild donkeys who lived in Africa 6,000 years ago. We are genetically related to Nubian wild asses and were domesticated to assist with transporting food and goods. We can also adapt to all types of terrain. Our long, narrow hooves enable us to walk steadily on rugged trails. This allow us to sometimes join rescue operations in mountainous areas. Being social animals, we closely bond with other donkeys. Cleanliness is valued by us and we assist each other in grooming. With a strong instinct for self-preservation, donkeys stay away from danger. That’s why we're often considered stubborn when actually we're only following our instinct. We can be your most loyal and reliable companion once you have earned our trust. By nature, we’re gentle, kindhearted, loving, and brave in the face of challenges. For thousands of years, we've generously served humanity by offering our labor and tirelessly working hard.
