In our bee family, we share what we are good at with one another, because it feels great when we give and receive. We may be tiny compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, but we surely have a big job to do: pollination. We pollinate the flowers of crops and fruit trees so they can bear fruit. Without us, there wouldn’t be any fruits and seeds, the plants wouldn’t be able to reproduce, animals wouldn’t have any food, and many people would go hungry. Because of this decline, harvests have been smaller in recent years, meaning less food for both animals and humans. The good news is that there are ways to help bolster the population of bees. For example, you can grow a garden that’s bee-friendly, right in your own backyard. Plant-based foods are the healthiest for the human body. Best of all, fruit and vegetables have seeds, and each seed can grow into a whole new plant if given the chance. You can share or swap extra seeds with friends and neighbors and enjoy the fruit of one another’s labor later on.

Today, I’m going to share with you a story titled “The North Wind and the sun.” “Sun, do you see that traveler wearing a cloak? I propose a contest to resolve our dispute once and for all! The first one to remove the cloak off of his back is the strongest of all!” Despite the strong force of the Wind, the man didn’t take off his cloak, but held on to it even tighter. In the end, the Sun, by offering warmth and comfort, made the man willingly and happily take off his cloak. It’s just like in our lives, sometimes we try to force things to happen and it doesn’t always end well, often distancing us from other people. On the contrary, when we show love and acceptance, people open themselves up to him. Such is the law of “love expands, fear contracts.” With the power of love and understanding, the Korean leaders eventually signed a peace treaty in April, 2018. This proves that the gentle way is actually a form of strength that can produce positive results. Since our story today involves the wind, let’s make a toy that harnesses the wind! How about a pinwheel?

It's a place for kids and adults with young hearts to go on adventures, learn new things and have fun together! Now let's jump on a magic carpet and travel to India for story time. Today, we present one of those stories, called "The Monkey and the Peas." "O mighty King, the monkey just showed us what greed can bring us. Instead of appreciating what he already had, he became greedy for a little gain and ended up with nothing." Hearing the wise words of the counsellor, the king vowed to always remember the lesson from the monkey and the peas, and be grateful for everything God has given him. Do you know where oxygen comes from? We all know greenery is important, but in the past 20 years, we’ve lost lots of trees. Do you know why? There are many reasons. If we do not eat animals, we can save lots of trees! Another reason is that we have been using trees to make paper. If we reduce paper use, we can also save trees! To save paper, we can do the 3 Rs: reduce, recycle and reuse.
