Die edlen Wildtiere, Teil 2 von 3

Oh, such a touching love (swan couple Pitu and Sai’s love to kids). If all can love each other, even half of this, if humans love each other like this, then the world is a paradise. See how the parents are guarding their young. They never relax one moment, keeping guard for a half an hour already. Never relax. Wow! What devotion, huh? If we all devote like this to God, then we would attain Heaven in no time.

Die Taube - Ein Symbol des Friedens und der Liebe

Like swans, doves are peaceful birds! Doves are devoted. They can get attached to people, like dogs do. They can find where their caregivers are and their way back home. They often pair monogamously for at least the breeding season, and some couples will stay together for life. Thanks to these loving qualities, and the way doves raise and care for their young chicks, they are viewed as a symbol of love.

The Beauty of the Whale's Song

“I had never heard anything like it... Oh, my God, tears flowed from our cheeks,” Ms. Payne was describing the song of the first male humpback whale she and Dr. Roger Payne, an American conservationist, biologist and cetologist had ever heard. Dr. Roger Payne was the first person to release a vinyl record that introduced the magnificent songs of the humpback whale to the world. The recording spawned an extensive outpouring of wonder and emotion. So intriguing were the whale songs that many liken them to the amazement evoked by gazing at pictures of deep outer space.

The Dog Listener: Learn How to Better Communicate with Your Dog Companion

The “dog listening technique” pioneer is renowned British dog listener Jan Fennell. From her decades of working and observing canines, she has learned to deeply understand our values and innate wisdom. The cornerstone of Jan’s training method is called “Amichien”, meaning “friend of the dog” in French. The basic principle is that a dog learns best when his or her natural behavior is incorporated into the training. Then, what are these techniques? And what should we humans do if we want our dog friend to pay attention to us?

Die kollektive Intelligenz der Tiere, Teil 1 von 2

Die kollektive Intelligenz der Tiere, Teil 1 von 2

During migration, common starlings may fly at speeds of 60-80 km per hour. Within this densely packed group of birds, the distance between them is sometimes only a bit more than their body length.Despite this tight spacing, they make astonishingly deft turns all together that appear to be conducted entirely in unison. When birds congregate in such big crowds, their collective intelligence makes it easier to discover food, stay on track along migration routes and avoid danger as many eyes and ears are more efficient in assessing potential hazards than an individual could do alone.

Aniamls suffer from the same heat-related ailments as humans do and manifest the symptoms sooner than people. Unlijke humans, who diffuse their body heat through sweating, dogs and cats only sweat in the areas of their paw pads and noses which are far less effective in cooling their bodies.

Elstern - die glücklichen Vögel!

We are a black and white bird taht can be found throughout the world, specifically Europe, Asia, western North America, and portions of northern Africa. For my friends in Australia, you may be familiar with a bird called the Australian magpie. Though we look a bit alike, we actually are not related! We magpies mate for life, and the male and female choose a mesting site together. Once they find a suitable place, they build a domed nest and share in the work.

Sommerliches Naturorchester - Zikaden und andere Insektenmusiker

There are more than 1300 species of cicada that have been documented, plus many species that remain undocumented. Cicadas can be found all around the world in temperate to tropical climates. As the nighttime ground temperature rises in early summer, cicadas begin emerging for their fifth and final molt, which occurs above ground. The music that fills the air a few days cicadas emerge from underground comes from males. Each species makes a unique sound so that a female can easily recognize their own kind.

Robuste Seelen - die schottischen Hochlandrinder

We are an ancient Celtic breed that belongs to the family bovidae. We originate from Scotland's very rugged Highlands and Outer Hebrides islands, areas with harsh climates that are subject to the very powerful North Atlantic gales. Our double coat enables us to handle extreme weather conditions that other bovines would not be able to handle. We are capable of surviving in the harshest of environments such as areas with rugged hills and moors with a climate featuring extreme cold, heavy rainfall, and poewerful winds. In Scottish Gaelic, we are known as "Bo Ghaidhealach," and in Scots, we are called "Heilan Coo."

Frühlingsboten: Die Zugvögel kehren nach Hause zurück, Teil 1 von 2

Why do we migrants leave the coziness of our homes? Most humans wouldn’t like to do so. But in our case, migration is essential for survival. With the coming of winter we worry whether there will be enough food. We rely on having constant and various food resources. Therefore, we know when it’s time to move somewhere else that has ample food to meet our needs.

When s colony of fire ants is flooded by water, in less than 2 minutes, the worker ants weave a water-repellent and life-saving raft by linking their legs and mouths together to form strong networks. A single ant can connect with up to 20 other individuals! Due to the thghtly knit weave of ants, and the fact their exoskeletons are water-repellent, water cannnot penetrate the raft. The air in their exoskeleton cavities helps them to float. The queen and larvae are positioned in the center of the raft where they stay high and dry.
