The Six Enneads by Plotinus: The First Ennead, First Tractate - The Animate and the Man, Sections 1-5, Part 2 of 2

The Six Enneads by Plotinus: The First Ennead, First Tractate - The Animate and the Man, Sections 1-5, Part 2 of 2

Now if there is a coalescence, the lower is ennobled, the nobler degraded; the body is raised in the scale of being as made participant in life; the Soul, as associated with death and unreason, is brought lower. All this is rather in the province of something which we may call the Animate. Now this Animate might be merely the body as having life: it might be the Union of Soul and body: it might be a third and different entity formed from both.

From Buddhism’s Sacred Scripture: The Sutra of the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, Chapter 3, Part 3 of 8

Since times past often we have heard the World-Honored One’s preaching, but we have never heard this kind of profound, wonderful and superior Dharma (true teaching). Since the World-Honored One preaches this Dharma (true teaching), we all welcome it with joy. Sariputra with his great wisdom has now received this venerable prophecy. We too in the same way will surely be able to attain Buddhahood, throughout all the many worlds the most venerable, the unsurpassed goal. The Buddha way is difficult to fathom, but You will preach with expedient means, according to what is appropriate.

From Buddhism’s Sacred Scripture: The Sutra of the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, Chapter 3, Part 1 of 8

WHEN I HEARD THE SOUND OF THIS DHARMA (true teaching), I gained what I had never had before. My mind was filled with great joy, I was released from all bonds of the net of doubt. From past times I have received the Buddha's teachings and have not been denied the Great Vehicle. The Buddha's sound is very rarely heard, but it can free living beings from distress. Already I have put an end to outflows (earthly desires), and hearing this, am freed from care and distress. I lived in the mountain valleys or under the forest trees, sometimes sitting, sometimes walking around, and constantly I thought of this matter-how severely I taxed myself!

The Enlightened Master is Beyond All Religions, Part 3 of 3 April 16, 1994, Seoul, Korea

The Buddha stands in between, in the middle of the good and the bad. The world’s people choose to do good things, their lives are good, happy. In the middle. No doing bad things and in spiritual. And when a sincere person, he recognize this teacher is good, he will know. Not because of what the Master looks like or what the Master talks; but your feeling, your wisdom inside. Yes. The Buddha nature will let them know. Because they are the Buddha. The seekers are the Buddha.

From Buddhism’s Sacred Scripture: The Sutra of the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, Chapter 3, Part 2 of 8

At that time the Buddha said to Sariputra, “Now, in the midst of this great assembly of heavenly and human beings, shramanas (wandering monks), Brahmans (members of a higher social class) and so forth, I say this. In the past, under twenty thousand million Buddhas, for the sake of the unsurpassed way I have constantly taught and converted you. And you throughout the long night followed me and accepted my instruction. Now, because I want to make you recall to mind the way that you originally vowed to follow, for the sake of the voice-hearers I am preaching this Great Vehicle sutra called the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, a Dharma to instruct the Bodhisattvas, one that is guarded by the Buddhas.

“Detachment”: from “Philosophy of the Masters (Gurmat Sidhant)” by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj, Part 2 of 2

A detached person is absorbed in Shabd (inner Heavenly Sound) and is thus truly detached. The detached person beholds Light within himself and listens to the Shabd. Thereby his mind is fully attuned to the Lord. “A detached person is really detached if he is attached to the Shabd (inner Heavenly Sound ). Oh my mother! My mind is attached to Shabd (inner Heavenly Sound ) and is dyed in detachment. Therefore it has become completely detached. There is [inner Heavenly]. Light within, and through that Light comes the Shabd (inner Heavenly Sound ) by which my mind is attuned to the True Lord. ”

Selection from the Dead Sea Scrolls’ Psalms, Part 1 of 2

Your holy spirit illuminates the dark places of the heart of Your servant, with light like the Sun. Only Your truth shines, and those who love it are wise and walk in the glow of Your light. Your light is everlasting. My eyes will be on the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. Yahweh, how many are Your works! In wisdom have You made them all. The earth is full of Your riches. For He will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save Him from those who judge His soul. Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever.

“Detachment”: from “Philosophy of the Masters (Gurmat Sidhant)” by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj, Part 1 of 2

That is real detachment. In order to meet God, one should detach oneself carefully and with discrimination. Then alone will he receive the real benefit; this is, he will be able to rise above the cycle of birth and death. In order to be truly detached, it is necessary to be detached from everything in this world. And to do this it is not necessary to leave one’s home, society or other connections. Saints do not advocate that type of detachment. The real detachment is to detach one’s soul and mind from the love of the world and its objects. The outward detachment of persons, who are detached from the worldly objects indiscriminately and leave them outwardly only, can never bring peace. For then, attachment is still felt in the mind, and that cannot be the foundation of the true inner detachment.

Yezidism: A Rich Spiritual Tradition and Its People, Part 1 of 2

The Yezidi people are a unique ethno-religious group possessing an ancient and richly elaborate religious tradition. In fact, they believe that all the world’s religions originated from the same primeval faith. Some Yezidis maintain that "Yezidi" translates as "Followers of the true path." It is also very close to the Persian or Zoroastrian word Yazdan, meaning “God,” and Yazata, meaning “divine” or “angelic being.” The Yezidis believe their ancestors were the first people to be created in the Garden of Eden, a large area in present-day Lalish in Iraq.

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – “Milarepa and the Pigeon,” Part 1 of 2

One of the renowned Masters of this religion is Milarepa. This most famous hero of Tibet lived from 1052 to 1135 and His story of personal redemption has continued to be an inspiration to many generations. Through songs called dohas, Milarepa imparted Divine teachings on spiritual devotion and wisdom. Today, we present to you an excerpt from the holy text of Tibetan Buddhism titled, “The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa,” Milarepa and the Pigeon. The nature of Mind is the (inner Heavenly) Light and the Void. By realizing the awareness of Light-Void, I merge myself in the original state of Non-effort. To good and bad experiences am I indifferent. With a mind of Non-effort, I feel happiness and joy.

Tao Te Ching – The Enlightened Way of Lao Tzu, Part 2 of 2

“To yield is to be preserved whole. To be bent is to become straight. To be hollow is to be filled. To be tattered is to be renewed. To be in wants is to possess. To have plenty is to be confused. Therefore the Sage embraces the One, and becomes the model of the world.” “The highest perfection is like imperfection, and its use is never impaired. The greatest abundance seems meager, and its use will never fail. What’s most straight appears devious. The greatest skill appears clumsiness. The greatest eloquence seems like stuttering.”

From “Philosophy of the Masters (Gurmat Sidhant)” by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj - Love (Prem), Part 1 of 2

It is not easy to understand love because its true nature and greatness cannot be described in words. It is a pure and delicate feeling or emotion which can be experienced only by one who is love. It is beyond the capacity of the tongue or the pen to describe it in any human language. Actually, love is another name for God. And just as it is not possible to reduce God’s greatness to mortal dimensions, so also is it not possible to describe adequately in any words known to man, the grandeur and subline appearance of love. Nowadays, people misunderstand the meaning of love. The spirit and the meaning of love can be ascertained only from a true lover, and its glow or spark can only be seen on his countenance.

From the Sacred Text of the Universal White Brotherhood: The Desired Peace, Part 1 of 2

These new human beings will be bearers of love among all people and nations. As a result, all nations will live for one another as in a family: big nations will be the big brothers, and small nations - the little ones. They will all have Peace and Harmony among themselves. This is the Will of God, Who is the Creator of the Universe. You ask when this time will come. It will come in the near future. Modern humankind is at the threshold of a new epoch as the solar system has already entered the realm of .the Divine Dawning. When this time comes, there will be no conditions for the existence of malevolent people. They will perish one after another and the Earth will get rid of them.

Analects of Venerated Buddhist Master Guang Qin, Part 2 of 2

Analects of Venerated Buddhist Master Guang Qin, Part 2 of 2

Today we are able to see through and become monks, the “seeing through” is important. What exactly do we see through? We see through “the seven affections and five desires.” We do not desire the “appearance, sound, smell, taste, feeling and thought” within the basic necessities of life, and we see through all affections - affections from our parents, affections from our spouse, we have to put them all down! When we are practicing diligently, we have to put down our body and mind completely. Otherwise even if we appear to be sitting there quietly and solemnly, actually we are having all kinds of illusionary thoughts, and it’s difficult to keep focused on the right state of mind.

From Sufism’s Sacred Fihi ma Fihi: Discourses of Rumi, Discourse 10, Part 1 of 2

We must pass beyond the good and bad qualities that are present temporarily in everyone, and must enter into the other’s very essence. These qualities people observe in one another are not their original qualities. How some people say, “How do saints and lovers of God find love in the eternal world beyond form, space and time? How can they gain strength and help? How are they affected by things without body or shape?” All these belong to that formless world. Moment by moment they receive benefits from these abstractions and are affected by them.

Song of Light, Love and Soul - Poems by Enlightened Masters, Part 4 of 4

Because poetry appeals to the heart, also to the intellect, also to the emotion of man. Therefore, many of the Masters in the old times, They favored poetry as a teaching. Or maybe also many of the Masters, They are very artistic themselves. Or maybe after They get enlightened, all Their dormant talents sprung up to life and They know how to write poetry, They paint pictures, dance and sing and all kinds. OK? So, this is one of the talents that has been awakened in some Masters after They get high enlightenment.

Doing GOoD is the Ultimate: Overview of Judaism with Ravi Avi, PhD, Part 3 of 3

G-D is King for all generations. G-D is King for all people. And what is this G-D, of whom we can say all these things? G-D is all that is good. We are the ones to put into the reality of daily life that for which G-D has created the potential. That is what very much G-D is. G-D is the potential for all that is good. It is all there for us. We need to be honest with each other. We need to be honest with ourselves. We need to be honest with G-D. We have responsibility to the world around us. It is up to each of us to do our part.

Such Light will blind even the most numerous and powerful army. People cannot imagine yet a Light that is a thousand times brighter than the solar one. One can achieve anything with such Light.
