A Master’s Only Obligation is to Liberate People: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4 #22, Dec.2, 1988

A Master’s Only Obligation is to Liberate People: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4 #22, Dec.2, 1988

We don’t compromise our choice for one or two friends and use that as an excuse. I’m telling you, when you die, no friend can come to help you. At that time, no one will come to speak for you, “Oh, the King of Hell, please have mercy on my friend. He drank wine and ate meat for my sake. Punish me instead and keep me in hell if you need to. Please let him go.” Will anyone say that for you? No. Therefore, we should not make excuse. Find reasons for spiritual cultivation, don’t make excuses for not doing it.

Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra: Book I, Seventh Lecture - Liberation, Lessons 1 - 4, Part 2 of 2

Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra: Book I, Seventh Lecture - Liberation, Lessons 1 - 4, Part 2 of 2

Excerpts from Book I - Lecture 7 from Jainism’s Akaranga Sutra: A householder, without betraying his intention, may approach a mendicant and give unto him or prepare pleasant lodgings and accommodate the mendicant. A mendicant should well observe and know it that the householder injures living beings to give, he may order the householder not to show such over-attentiveness. Thus I say. Those who are awakened, should not wish for pleasure, nor do harm, nor desire any forbidden things. A person who is without desires and does no harm unto any living beings in the whole world, is called by me ‘unfettered’. One free from passions understands perfectly the bright one, knowing birth in the upper and nether regions.

The Enlightened Master is Beyond All Religions, Part 1 of 3 April 16, 1994, Seoul, Korea

All go to the soul. What’s important is the Master. Whenever you remember the Master, He will send, if the Master is a very highly developed person, highly realized person, He can send energy, to help you to meditate. If we know the human brain completely (How to work). Then we can discover also spiritual aspect.(Yes.) There is something that makes the brain function. And that something is what the Buddhists call Buddha Nature. It’s not the physical brain really. It is something hidden within the physical apparatus.

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Part 1 of 2

O people! Worship your Lord who created you and those before you, that you may attain piety. He who made the earth a habitat for you, and the sky a structure, and sends water down from the sky, and brings out fruits thereby, as a sustenance for you. Therefore, do not assign rivals to Allah while you know. And give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds; that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with fruit therefrom as sustenance, they will say, “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given the like of it.

Writings of Bahá’u’lláh: The Seven Valleys, Part 5 of 8

An exposition of the mysteries enshrined in the stages of ascent for those that seek to journey unto God, the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MERCIFUL, THE COMPASSIONATE! “O Thou Whose Essence alone can lead to His Essence, and Who transcendeth all likeness to His creatures.” The references that have been made to the degrees of mystic knowledge pertain to the knowledge of the radiance of that Sun. Consider these matters in the spirit of enquiry, not in blind imitation. A true wayfarer will not be deterred by the impediment of words, nor daunted by the sway of insinuations.

From the Book of Enoch: The Book of Parables – Selection from the Second Parable, Part 2 of 2

And He will choose the Righteous and the Holy from among them; for the day has come near when they must be saved. And in those days, the Chosen One will sit on His throne, and all the Secrets of Wisdom will flow out from the Council of His mouth, for the Lord of Spirits and glorified Him. For in those days the Chosen One will have risen and the earth will rejoice. “All these things which you have seen serve the authority of His Messiah, so that He may be strong and powerful on the Earth.”

Perceive the Truth by Inner Wisdom, Part 2 of 5 April 21, 1993, Geneva, Switzerland

Our wisdom is the source of all learning, of all intelligence in the world. The Lord is the source of all love, be it mundane, fatherly or between man and woman. And, therefore, when we seek this wisdom, we have all intelligence. When we seek this love, all desire is quenched. And we will never seek for anything more. All beauty, virtues will come to us and stay. All love will be filled within our beings and stay, without any effort, because we are love, we are wisdom, we are beauty.

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Part 2 of 2

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Part 2 of 2

Allah is the Lord of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness and into light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are the evil ones; they bring them out of light and into darkness-these are the inmates of the Fire, in which they will abide forever. The parable of those who spend their wealth in Allah's way is that of a grain that produces seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. Allah multiplies for whom He wills. Allah is Bounteous and knowing. Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah, and then do not follow up what they spent with reminders of their generosity or with insults, will have their reward with their Lord-they have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.

Selection from Spiritual Gems: Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s Letters, Part 1 of 2

Gur Mat(Sant Mat) is above all religions. The ritualistic part of all religions is blind and misleading; no matter what the religion might be – whether our own or of other people. As to the good and bad things or the sin and the virtue, both becoming meaningless, that may be. When you leave the British Territory and pass into the land of the Pathans, who can ask you to account for your deeds? While you are here in the region of Kal, you have to account for all that you do. Once you cross over to the region of Dayal (Merciful), who can touch you? This applies only when you have actually crossed the boundary of Kal.

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – “The Song of the Staff,” Part 2 of 2

Milarepa then said, “You offered me food and lodging, and l preached for you. This relationship is important. He who reveres and rejoices in the Dharma (true teaching) and has faith in it at all times, is planting the Seed-of-Dharma from which the lnnate-born Wisdom will grow in his future lives. He who has rightly made a good wish, does not have to learn many teachings.Nor must he associate with his Guru for a long time. If the outer conditions and the inner seeds of one’s own mind meet together, thought temporarily one may go astray, the power of the seeds-of-the-wish will eventually bring one to the right path.”

From Buddhism’s Sacred Scripture: The Sutra of the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, Chapter 3, Part 6 of 8

I, most venerable of the sages, am the father of this world and all living beings are my children. But they are deeply attached to worldly pleasures and lacking in minds of wisdom. There is no safety in the threefold world; it is like a burning house, replete with a multitude of sufferings. I (was) for the sake of living beings I employ these similes and parables to preach the single Buddha vehicle. If you and the others are caplble of believing and accepting my words, then all of you are certain to attain the Buddha way.

Analects of Venerated Buddhist Master Guang Qin, Part 1 of 2

00:15:26

Analects of Venerated Buddhist Master Guang Qin, Part 1 of 2

The Venerated Master Guang Qin was born into a humble family in 1892 in Fujian Province of southeastern China. He left home and became a renunciate after his foster parents passed away, which had made him realize the impermanence of the world. In 1947 at the age of 56, he went to Taiwan, also known as Formosa. There, for many more decades he served as a great inspiration for people who truly wanted to learn and practice the Buddhist Dharma. Master Guang Qin practiced asceticism as a way to be liberated from the cycle of life and death, finally leading to self-realization. He preferred to stay in caves for intensive retreats and meditation. Leading a simple life, he constantly encouraged his believers to become vegetarian like he was.

Writings of Bahá’u’lláh: The Seven Valleys, Part 6 of 8

Peace be upon him who concludeth this exalted journey and followeth the way of truth by the lights of guidance. The wayfarer, after traversing the high planes of this celestial journey, entereth into the City of Contentment. In this valley he feeleth the breezes of divine contentment blowing from the plane of the spirit. He burneth away the veils of want, and with inward and outward eye perceiveth within and without all things the day of “God will satisfy everyone out of His abundance.” From sorrow he turneth to bliss, and from grief to joy, and from anguish and dejection to delight and rapture.

Perceive the Truth by Inner Wisdom: Questions and Answers, Part 5 of 5 April 21, 1993, Geneva, Switzerland

Don’t You think that many religions are sometimes responsible for wars and why it is so? It’s not the religions that are responsible, but we are responsible. We make discrimination between religions. We force people into our belief by violence, and that was never the intention of the founder of any religion. Even Jesus when He was alive, He never forced people to believe Him. He said, “Give unto Cesar what belongs to Cesar!” And even people crucified Him, He didn’t protest. He wanted to show the disciples the way of surrender, the way of forgiveness, the way of love.

The Five Virtues of Confucianism, Part 5 of 5, Feb 02, 2019

The Five Virtues of Confucianism, Part 5 of 5, Feb 02, 2019

Sakyamuni Buddha practiced so hard to become a Buddha only because He wanted to help sentient beings. Left after life, He was also reborn as animals, humans and heavenly beings to have affinity with them. So that He could help them after He became a Buddha. So, we practice spiritually to attain wisdom. There is power within the wisdom. Without the true inner wisdom, there is no inner power. This wisdom also includes the inner power, the spiritual power and our innate power. Therefore, wisdom is also included in benevolence.

Tao Te Ching – The Enlightened Way of Lao Tzu, Part 1 of 2

Tao Te Ching – The Enlightened Way of Lao Tzu, Part 1 of 2

Lao Tzu said that, “this kind of person will constantly retain the excellence of his nature all the time. He became the child again; free from all flaws, from all stains. This is a man, a woman, who has attained the Tao.” Yes, who has been enlightened. So with this essay, Lao Tzu wanted to tell His disciples how to act, how to behave, how to distinguish a person who has attained the Tao. He will look like this; very strong, very powerful, very wise, yet very simple, very humble, very ordinary. You don’t boast about it, because the man, after he attains enlightenment, for him, it’s simple like breathing. It’s very simple and natural to them anyway.

Friendship, mercy, gladness, indifference, being thought of in regard to subjects, happy, unhappy, good and evil respectively, pacify the Chitta. By throwing out and restraining the Breath. Those forms of concentration that bring extraordinary sense perceptions cause perseverance of the mind. Or(be the meditation on) the Effulgent One which is beyond all sorrow. Or(by meditation on) the heart that has given up all attachment to sense objects. Or by meditating on the knowledge that comes in sleep.

From the Holy Buddhist Tripitaka: Itivuttaka – The Group of Ones and Fours, Part 1 of 2

From the Holy Buddhist Tripitaka: Itivuttaka – The Group of Ones and Fours, Part 1 of 2

“There is no evil that cannot be done by a person who deliberately lies, who transgresses in one thing, taking no account of the next world.” “For one who mindfully develops boundless loving-kindness seeing the destruction of clinging, the fetters (bonds) are worn away. If with an uncorrupted mind He pervades just one being with loving kindly thoughts, He makes some merit thereby. But a noble one produces an abundance of merit by having a compassionate mind towards all living beings. Those royal seers who conquered the earth crowded with beings went about performing sacrifices. But these do not share even a sixteenth part of a well cultivated mind of love, just as the entire starry host is dimmed by the moon’s radiance. One who does not kill nor cause others to kill, who does not conquer nor cause others to conquer, kindly towards all being —He has enmity for none. ”

Some Small Secrets to Share: Selection from Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Book ”Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Part 1 of 2

Today we share with you the wise teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai, with excerpts from the section “Some Small Secrets to Share” in the book “Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice.” She offers many helpful tips derived from Her personal experiences. These serve as practical and effective tools to assist spiritual seekers in pursuing the path to eternal liberation and self-mastery. Sometimes you might feel you haven’t made any progress in your spiritual practice, and that it seems like a waste of time. Do you know why? Spiritual practice includes our body, speech and mind. If any of them lag behind, the other two can’t move along. All three have to be balanced and coordinated in order for you to make progress in your spiritual practice. We ourselves create all our breakdowns. When we’re angry, we generate a very dense and unpleasant magnetic field. This thick, dark and unpleasant field covers us like a barrier and keeps us from our goodness.
