In this series, we will share video clips that feature video clips and stories of animal-persons being adopted by their loving human co-citizens. This noble act of compassion uplifts everyone involved and creates a closer bond between humans and animal-people on our planet. We hope these stories inspire you to remember that just like humans, animal-folk wish to be treated with love, respect, and affection while living out their days in peace and comfort.

This dog’s adoption photo went viral. “I called my mom, I was like, ‘I think I’m going to adopt this dog.’ She thought I was kidding, cause I go to school, and I had roommates.” But Kayla knew Russ needed her. Once she brought Russ home, he became the happiest dog.

“After I adopted him, he was my little magnet. Like, he would follow me everywhere. He slept with me. He snores in his sleep, too, like a human, and he’ll be in my ear sometimes, and I don’t mind it. When I leave the house, he looks out of the window and literally watches me leave, and as soon as I come in the door, he comes following me up right away. The way that he looks at me sometimes, I definitely think that he knows who saved him.”

Charlie was found under a deck with his other littermates and was taken to a rescue here in Kansas. Charlie has cerebellar hypoplasia or wobbly cat syndrome. “I decided that I would help and foster Charlie. He weighed under a pound [454 grams] when I got him. He had a lot of health issues. It took a few months for him to probably be completely healthy. But he got stronger. He gets himself up and around and he is awesome.

And, I think his confidence has grown since I’ve had him. Our bond is so special and I love that we can practically communicate together our needs. He knows when I’m sad, he knows when I need some extra love and I can always tell what his needs are for the most part. Even when he is sleeping, he just gives me so much serotonin just laying with him. He’s so soft like a little bunny too.”
