Scientists from NASA’s (National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s) Goddard Space Flight Center in the United States have discovered carbon-bearing organic material on the Bennu asteroid thanks toitsprobe OSIRIS-REx that landed on its surface and collected samples. The organic matter possibly confirms the theory that asteroids help to transport life-starting material across the universe. As part of the OSIRIS-REx mission, the satellite also created a map of the asteroid’s body, revealing a fascinating geology with carbonate minerals on the surface that indicate hydrothermal systems, which contain both carbon dioxide and water. The satellite is scheduled to return to Earth in September 2023 with the samples for further testing. Such interesting news, NASA scientists! We look forward to hearing about OSIRIS-REx’s exciting findings, in Heavenly wonder.Up next, United Kingdom research shows cleaner air significantly improves children's respiratory condition. Research released by the Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom revealed that decreasing air pollution as seen during the COVID-19 lockdown could lower the number of children with poor lung function by 20 to 50% in the UK and Ireland. Based on these results, the sponsors of the research, UK-based charity Global Action Plan, and the Netherlands-headquartered community-focused Philips Foundation, have joined with other charities to encourage nationwide improvement of air quality in and around schools. They recommend schools utilize the Clean Air for School Framework, a free online tool designed to customize an action plan to mitigate their school’s air pollution. Our sincere thanks, Queen Mary University of London researchers, Global Action Plan and the Philips Foundation. May all governments help promote a healthier atmosphere for our children’s wellbeing, in God’s benevolence.Researchers determine the reason we need sleep. A study led by scientists from the University of California in the United States has determined the function of sleep by collating data from more than 60 studies on the brain. The researchers discovered that up until just before the age of 2.5 years in humans, children experience deep sleep, or Rapid Eye Movement (REM), about 50% of their time asleep. This type of sleep is used to facilitate swift growth in the brain. However, after age two-and-a-half, the amount of REM sleep greatly decreases, and sleep is used for repair and maintenance of the brain. Our hats off, all scientists involved in this fascinating study. May your research help people understand the importance of respecting the natural rhythms of the body and nature, in Divine equilibrium.Indian centenarian has been offering free education to children for 75 years. While seated under a tree, 104-year-young Nanda Prasty has been teaching youngsters at no charge for three-quarters of a century in Jajpur, Odisha, India. He also teaches the elderly at night. As a farmworker many years ago, Mr. Prasty encountered villagers who were unable to read or write and decided to show them how to sign their name. He found many of his students were interested in learning more and decided to teach them how to read. They were soon reading the ancient Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita. Mr. Prasty now counts the great-grandchildren of his first students among his pupils. Though the altruistic gentleman has consistently declined to apply for governmental assistance, the leader of Mr. Prasty’s village has decided to build a schoolhouse for the kind teacher. Heaven bless you, Mr. Nanda Prasty, for your noble example of love in action. May all people be inspired by your benevolent heart, in Celestial goodness. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Gratefully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Nanda Prasty, with high esteem, gratitude and best wishes, plus a humble gift of US$10,000 for the children’s extra needs or and your needs, with respect and ample love. Eighty-eight ranger teams from 20 African countries raced in the Wildlife Ranger Challenge, a fundraiser to secure the livelihoods of the conservation front-liners economically impacted by COVID-19. Participants ran while carrying the equipment they typically transport in their wildlife protection operations. In support of the cause, approximately 2,000 people from around the world walked or ran in parks or streets of their countries. The fundraiser was organized by United Kingdom-based conservation group Tusk Trust and biodiversity restoration project Natural State of US nonprofit RESOLVE, with the almost £500,000 raised to be doubled by the Scheinberg Relief Fund, which had already donated US$2 million. Haha! Would you like to learn some interesting games that kids from different countries have been playing? Welcome to our show, “Come Outside to Play with Us.” The first game we would like to introduce to you is a traditional game called “Egrang.” To play this game, the participants each need a pair of stilts made with bamboo. The participants then must perform different tasks while using the stilts. Dancing and racing are some of the most common tasks. This game can train the participants to balance, walk gracefully, and build courage. Another one is called rangkuk alu, or tinikling. which is a traditional game played by people in Indonesia, the Philippines, and other countries around the world. It is a form of traditional dance involving two or more people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground. They compete against each other in coordination with one or more dancers, who step over and in between the poles. There are a lot of benefits to spending time in nature either to play or just hanging out. A study conducted in the UK concluded that after spending time in nature, most children showed improvement with their school work, and became more capable of taking on challenges. As a result, they felt more confident in themselves, and had better relationships with their classmates and teachers. The great scientist, Dr. Albert Einstein, said, “Play is the highest form of research.” Play is the vehicle of children for learning, exploring, developing new skills, and connecting with others. Recent research also indicates that spending time in nature may bring other physical and mental health benefits. Exposure to new environments boosts our immune system, which means we won't get sick as easily. Sunlight provides vitamin D and boosts happiness. By playing outside we can also acquire blessings, along with positive energy from trees, grass, and all the plant life surrounding us. Supreme Master Ching Hai has also mentioned the spiritual blessings we can receive from Nature. “The sun cures your aches and pain, it eliminates toxins through sweat – when it’s hot, you sweat – and also it cures some of the diseases or other ailments. The sun gives benefits to all, bad or good. The sun would glorify the whole Earth that we live on and it gives life to all beings: plants, minerals, animals, etc. The sun gives also people happiness, carefree feeling. The sun is necessary for all on Earth.”

The Kind Bowl Vegan Café’s Singaporean Fusion Cuisine, Part 2 of 2 – Fragrant Herbal Rice & Delightful Vegan Chocolate Mousse
The Kind Bowl Vegan Café’s Singaporean Fusion Cuisine, Part 2 of 2 – Fragrant Herbal Rice & Delightful Vegan Chocolate Mousse
Chef Jessica Nguyễn, the owner of The Kind Bowl, opened the vegan café in June 2020 in Singapore to fulfill her passion for sharing quality plant-based foods with the world. Her mission is to raise awareness amongst the public of their social and environmental responsibilities to “Go Green” to reduce their carbon footprints for a sustainable world. Today, she will show us two more fascinating vegan fusion dishes. “The first recipe that I’ll be sharing is Fragrant Herbal Rice.” “First, chop all the herbs finely, and add olive oil in a mixing bowl and set it aside. Now, let’s toast the vegan fish or vegan ham until golden brown.” “You do not need to stir it; just let the vegan fish cook slowly until golden brown. Now, we mix all the ingredients together with the rice in the big bowl.” “After mixing the rice with all the ingredients, we will add the roasted pine nuts into the rice, and we just give it a mix. And that’s it.” “We will now prepare some delightful chocolate mousse. This delectable vegan dessert is an all-time favorite of people of all ages. Here’s where East meets West as we combine chocolate with coconut - a tropical fruit commonly found on Southeast Asia’s islands.” “Now, we’ll add the coconut cream into the mixing bowl, and we add the cocoa powder, sugar, syrup and mix the cream until it’s smooth. Whip it until it forms a mousse-like texture. Keep it chilled inside the fridge. Now, we crush the walnuts. Set aside the walnuts. (Next), we melt the chocolate over the boiling water. Let’s assemble the chocolate mousse cups. We’ll add a layer of crushed walnuts, and another layer will be the coconut cream and the last layer; we add the melted chocolate. And lastly, we use the rose petals as a topping. We put it in the fridge for 20 minutes for the best taste. Our delightful (vegan) chocolate mousse is now ready.”

I miss that place. If I have a chance, I’ll go back there again. It’s just that mud house and the water nearby and the Ganges down there. If you don’t have any responsibility and pressure, no matter what you eat, it tastes like Heaven. And you don’t even care what you eat, as long as it’s vegan, of course. And in Rishikesh for example, or many holy places, they don’t sell alcohol, eggs, meat, nothing. It’s forbidden. So, if you live there, you’re sure you just eat vegan. You don’t need to ask. People also sell vegan all the time. Even a small vendor on the street, it’s all vegan, nothing else. I would’ve loved to stay there forever. Now when I think about it, I still feel very nostalgic.(About ten, fifteen years back, some masters in Rishikesh, they used to promote veganism. Like I was a child when I read the pamphlet promoting veganism, that we shouldn’t…) Where? (In Rishikesh.) In Rishikesh? (Yes, Master.) No need to promote! Everybody sells vegan only. (Yes, Master.) Oh, you mean for the visitors. (For the visitors, yes, and…) You did? You’ve gone there? (Yes, Master.) I didn’t see you. I love that place, but I didn’t live in downtown. I lived on a higher mountain, only mud houses and natural water. But next to the Ganges, that’s what I loved. You just walk down one, two, or three minutes – not really three minutes, I walked slow – and then you can immerse yourself. Even in summer the water is so cool, it’s so cool. It melted from the ice at the top, always melted ice coming down, very cool. This is the same as that one you have. Thank you. Share it with the kitchen, OK? This is for the kitchen. Take it inside. Apple juice? Again? Thanks a lot. Another apple juice. Told you. Whatever I say, come more. From all the places I went in India, I miss Rishikesh the most because everything good happened there. And I lived in a small mud hut, but I loved it so much. Every day, I went to sleep on the roof. And there were always some people who joined me, a couple of people, Westerners, around me. And then I had natural water coming out to wash my clothes, to cook. I cooked very little, but it was still good water. And then I’d go down in the Ganges to do ablutions and alms, put the clothes on the rocks to dry. One, two hours only and then you can wear it. I miss that place. If I have a chance, I’ll go back there again. It’s just that mud house and the water nearby and the Ganges down there. Not even three minutes. It’s not long; it’s just right on the banks of the river. It’s just very high, so you have to go down. It’s a little bit sloppy, but a very good road. Just a dirt road, but very good to go.I also stayed in Dharamshala in the forest, also in a mud house. It’s more civilized there; a lot of people, a lot of Westerners, a lot of monks and nuns all the time. But I like Rishikesh more. I almost drowned there, and I still like it. Because I went into the middle of the Ganges to meditate and that day it rained from the upper level. The water covered all the stones. I couldn’t see any stepping-stones, but somehow I came home. Now I can’t remember how I did it. Because when the water is high, you don’t see anything. When it’s not high, you can choose the stones. Just step and go out.I met one yogi. He lived in the cave on the Ganges, and he seemed a holy man. So, I came and paid homage to him. I offered a melon. That’s all I could afford at that time. Melon’s very cheap. In India, everything’s cheap. My clothes also, even tailor-made, very cheap, and just cotton. I chose the cheapest cotton, it was still beautiful. They made it and it fit me, two pairs. And then I met this yogi, and he was an old man. He sat in the cave and there were some disciples surrounding him. So, I said to him, “Master, it’s not comfortable that you live here like this because the wind is blowing and the sand is blowing everywhere. Don’t you feel uncomfortable? Don’t you feel it’s too harsh?” He said, “No. There are many people who live in more harsh conditions than I.” Wow, so I shut up. He was right, he was right. I knew that, in India. But what I meant was that a master should not endure so much. That’s what I meant. He was old already, he should be somewhere comfortable, being looked after. That’s what I meant. But he couldn’t have cared less, so I couldn’t have cared less. And then I asked him, “Oh, Master, what do you advise me to do for enlightenment?” He didn’t say a lot, but his English was perfect. He told me, “Go there. There’s a little island in the middle there,” middle of the Ganges River. Ganges River is big. It’s not like this. “Go there, meditate.” I said, “Aye-aye!” I didn’t say, “Aye-aye” but I said, “Yes.” So I meditated. I asked him, “How long?” He said, “One week and then see how you go.”I told you this story already. Right? When did I tell you? Can’t remember when. Oh, in the BMD (Between Master & Disciples). (Long back.) No, I just heard it somewhere. (In Los Angeles in 1997, I think.) I thought I just heard it somewhere a few days ago. No? No? How come I remember as if I just tell you now? Maybe I told somebody. So, I went there and meditated six days. One more day left, and my ex-husband came. I don’t know how he found me in such a desolated area. It’s a mountain; it’s not like downtown where all the gurus and all the bhiksu come. No! Just, three or four divided mud houses. Very cheap. And there was water running from the mountain behind my house. I washed my clothes and stuff. The water was very clean. I don’t know how it was so clean, like crystal. I washed my house, drink, and that. And then he came. I was washing my clothes. He came right behind me, “Oh!” And then I said, “Oh!” “Oh, you came! Hallo!” and all that. “How did you find me?” He said he had this magic. He showed me my photo. That was his magic. He went to every post office, every stop from Delhi, all the way to Rishikesh. (Wow!) And I lived on the top of a mountain, not right on top, where just a few people lived there. It’s not where the temples and ashrams were, no. Only two or three people together. Not together, each one had a room. And then... OK. Wow! I don’t remember what I said to him, or anything. I said, “I have to hurry now. Can you hang around? I’ll come back soon. I have to do one more day meditation.” And then when I came back, he was gone. There was one Chinese from Canada. He just came before my ex-husband came. He came and he said he had nowhere to stay. “Then you stay here in my room. I don’t stay anyway and the couch I don’t sleep. I sleep upstairs with a sleeping bag on, so you’re welcome to stay here.” Because he said his girlfriend was coming and he was looking for a room to rent. I said, “In a few days, there’ll be a room empty next to me. You can settle here meanwhile.” So, I left him there, his luggage and his backpack, living there, and I left. Meanwhile, my husband came. I left. I went to meditate. It was far, you had to walk maybe three kilometers from where my house was, walk to where I meditated on a little island in the middle. The Master didn’t say anything, just said, “Go meditate” as if I knew everything already. He didn’t say how to meditate, nothing. He didn’t talk a lot, except to tell me, “Don’t touch that girl because she’s a Brahmin.” I was unworthy. Brahmin, you don’t touch them, except if you’re a Brahmin too, where you have to wear something to prove it, a thread. I don’t know. Women don’t wear this, right? (Men wear it.) Men wear it. So how do I prove that I’m a woman Brahmin? Women cannot be Brahmin, right? (Mostly it’s because of the male, it is the family that’s considered Brahmin. If the male is a Brahmin, then the family is considered Brahmin. But women, I don’t remember if they have any distinguishing…) Nobody asked for ID or… anyway. Because the little girl went to the Ganges, wanted to fetch some water with a bucket and I tried to help her, and she screamed at me. So, the Master said, “Don’t touch. They’re Brahmin.” I said, “OK, sorry.” And then I meditated, blah blah.I went to meditate, and when I came back, it was dark already. He was gone. Only that so-called boyfriend was left behind. I said, “Where is my husband?” “He left!” “Why did he leave? He came to find me. Why? He just came, he didn’t even talk to me a lot, and he left already? Why? And that camera is mine. Why is it here?” He probably left it for me. He probably thought that was my boyfriend. Nothing was further from the truth, right? I did not have a boyfriend to begin with, let alone Chinese. And a raw Chinese, very raw. He cheated. He ate raw, but he ate chapatti also. Chapatti is not raw. He didn’t eat raw chapatti. He ate cooked chapatti. And the rest was raw. Fine.I said, “What did he say?” “He didn’t say much. He said he’s going back to Germany. He gave me his camera.” I said, “What? That camera I gave to him for a birthday. Why did he give to you? What did you say to him? What did you say to him?” I began to get angry. He said, “Nothing. He asked me if I live here, I said yes.” He said yes, he lived there. “And you sleep here?” “Yeah, I sleep.” Only one bed. (Oh.) That was my room. When he wasn’t there, I showed my ex-husband that it was my room. And the boy came back and said it was his room.Coincidence! Even if you write one book, you cannot explain yourself. So, I said, “Oh. OK. I understand. How long (ago) did he leave?” “Just now!” So, I ran down the mountain. I didn’t have a lot of money, but I hired a coach. Normally, you go together with ten people at least on a horse-carriage coach because it’s cheaper. Nobody hired the whole coach. I said, “I want this coach.” He said, “Expensive! Money, money! No?” I said, “Yeah. Money, money OK!” I paid it. I said, “I pay here, I pay here.” I couldn’t really afford it that much, but never mind. I thought if I don’t have samosas for a few days, that’ll be OK.So, I ran to the bus station and the bus ticket man said, “Just left. Just now!” Like in the movies! I arrived, he left, just like that! And I had no means to catch up. Not with my horse carriage, no matter how much money-money I paid, it wouldn’t catch up. The bus was gone!Oh, man! But I really liked that place so much. I don’t know why I liked it so much. But then he came back. I wrote him a telegram. It’s another thing I could not afford. Every day, I calculated how much money I must use. But if I ate one more samosa, then the next day, I could not. But I was very happy there. I was very happy. If I had to choose somewhere to live, I’d go back there again. It seemed so free. The house was dirt cheap; you pay rent, it’s just like a gift. Like a gift.It was nothing much. And people are so friendly. I even had like a chiropractor punching my body for free. I never knew what a chiropractor was until that day. But he was very gentle, not like one of those chiropractors in China. Oh my God! All my body screamed out. He was very gentle. I said, “I don’t have any money.” He said, “Never mind, it’s free for you.” He twisted me around, punched me around, but it felt very comfortable. He is a doctor chiropractor. I don’t know what the heck he was doing in such a lonely mountain like that and renting a room and had a bed there ready for punching people. I didn’t inquire too much anymore after that. And then he was just a neighbor. He did his thing; I did my thing. I never buddy-buddied anybody. But people buddied me. Washed my hands, punched my body, massaged, braided my hair, stuff like that. Very friendly people, even visitors. He is from the Philippines, he is not Indian. He went there, I don’t know, maybe on holiday or something. I never asked. If you had a free massage already, better run quick in case he changed his mind. You have no money to pay, no? No, he was very nice. I really liked that place. I have no idea why. It’s my favorite of all the Indian places. In Dharamshala also, you can rent a room very cheaply, also a mud house. But I did not really enjoy that much, like in Rishikesh. Maybe the ambiance, the atmosphere. Everybody who went there had to be vegan. They had no choice. What for would you go there promoting veganism? They had no choice.

In today’s news, Japan supports food security in Lesotho, research finds livestock pig raising linked to higher rates of COVID-19 infections, Dutch engineers test innovative aircraft design, Indian startup introduces coconut leaf drinking straws, dog rescued from bridge in United States, artificial intelligence technology creates vegan beef flavor, and study shows cute animals have stress-relieving powers.Japan provides food assistance to school children in Lesotho. The Japanese government, a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Animal Protection and Generosity laureate, donated US$2.3 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) that will be used to support the government of Lesotho’s national feeding program. Through the contribution, meals given to 94,000 primary school children and 60,000 pre-primary school children will be diversified by adding items such as highly fortified foods and maize meal. The initiative helps the most vulnerable youngsters, some of whom rely heavily on the program meals for nutrition, especially during this critical period of COVID-19. Our gratitude, Japan and the World Food Programme. May Heaven watch over the precious children of Lesotho, as they grow to become healthy and strong adults.Studies find industrial pig farming linked with higher COVID-19 infection rates. Dr. Larissa Mies Bombardi and Pablo Nepomuceno from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and Dr. Immo Fiebrig from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom analyzed the spatial correlation between COVID-19 infections and pig factory farms in Brazil, Germany and the United States. They found increased infection rates near pig farms and hypothesized that the current pig farming industry may intensify the spread of the virus. Pigs can easily catch avian flu and other human influenza viruses at the same time. Consequently, intensive pig farms are incubation laboratories for new diseases and future pandemics. It was also noted that Hubei province, where COVID-19 is widely believed to have originated, is one of China’s five major pork producing areas. Thank you, Dr. Larissa Mies Bombardi, Pablo Nepomuceno and Dr. Immo Fiebrig, for this significant information. Engineers from Delft University of Technology and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, both in the Netherlands, have successfully tested a novel jet design which uses 20% less fuel. The V-shaped plane features the cabin, fuel tanks and cargo hold all within the wings of the aircraft. A miniature model of the craft, which has a wingspan of 3.1 meters and weighs 22.5 kilograms, had a successful maiden flight in Germany following extensive wind tunnel and ground tests. The full-scale version of the plane will operate cleanly on hydrogen, have a wingspan of 65 meters, and seat 314 people. Congratulations, Delft University of Technology and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, on your fascinating new airplane design. Cofounded by Manigandan Kumarappan in 2018, Bengaluru India startup Evlogia Eco Care creates biodegradable straws from fallen coconut leaves, a by-product normally burned. The leaves are collected, washed, dried, sterilized, and then rolled into their final form by rural women employed by the company. Kokos Leafy Straws, as they are called, are sturdier than paper alternatives and can be left in hot beverages for 30 minutes or 6 hours in cold ones. The company exports around the world, helping to keep oceans clean and save countless marine animals from the danger of ingesting plastic straws. What fantastic work, Manigandan Kumarappan and team at Evlogia Eco Care! In God’s love, may we all choose to use such valuable products that consider the wildlife and the planet.Team effort rescues dog stranded on bridge above turbulent river. When a dog was spotted on the bottom corner frame of the Natchez-Vidalia bridge 36 meters above the Mississippi River in the United States by a fellow worker, bridge inspection leader Ryan Nataluk sprang into action. After calling the Natchez Police Department for help, Mr. Nataluk, who is an experienced climber, attached himself to a beam and descended to reach the stranded dog, who was in a precarious position. Fashioning a makeshift harness from rope for the dog, the courageous rescuer asked Police Officer John Fenly to help pull her up to safety. Wagging her tail and showing her gratitude, she was then adopted by a local resident, who found out that Bridgette, as she is now called, was pregnant. Bless you, sweet Bridgette, we are so happy you are safe. Congratulations on this excellent teamwork, Ryan Nataluk, Officer John Fenly, and all involved in the rescue of multiple lives! The University of Leeds in the United Kingdom partnered up with Tourism Western Australia to investigate the health benefits of watching cute animal videos. Fifteen students and four staff members experiencing stress watched 30 minutes of adorable animal videos including some of the quokka, an Australian herbivorous marsupial who has been described as the world’s happiest animal. The participants’ heart rates, blood pressure and stress levels all showed significant decreases. Commenting on the results, Elen Thomas, the UK Market Manager for Tourism Western Australia stated, “The study results are a fantastic reminder that we benefit massively from exploring and enjoying the natural world.” Thank you, study researchers, for this heartwarming insight. May humans everywhere appreciate all that animals’ presence does for us and switch to the sensible vegan way of life, in Heaven’s immense grace. We want to chill you out with a laugh with a joke of the day entitled “Neighborhood Frankness.” One beautiful morning, Clark walks with a grumpy face to his neighbor:“Johnson, is that your cat in my garden digging out my carrots?”“Of course. Do you think I would have time for that?”?!And now we have a heartline from Ming-Ye in China: To Supreme Master TV team, Supreme Master TV has become my source of spiritual nourishment every day. Recently, I have been deeply impressed by the grand performances of the world’s top artists in “Friends of Eternity – A Special Gathering with Supreme Master Ching Hai and Cherished Artists.” Why does “being a vegan make peace”? Artists from around the world each used their artistic talents, and shared their personal experiences to illustrate the inseparable connection between the vegan diet and world peace. Watching this program, I was captivated by those simple truths, and often touched by their genuine feelings, as if I were one of them…When each of these living and lovable animals is killed in a slaughterhouse, it suffers extreme pain and horror. If you were to visit a slaughterhouse, you would see the animals begging for help, shedding tears of misery. When the butcher’s knife penetrates their throats, they instinctively cry out in desperation, as their warm blood, as red as that of humans, spurts from their weak and helpless bodies. Then, they are skinned, their chests ripped open, and bodies dismembered. What a horrifying sight. When their tears and blood run dry, their inner organs are still pulsating. Their silence speaks louder than words! “Do not do unto others what you do not want done unto you.” Let us quietly switch positions and think from their perspective. Perhaps this might awaken a benign heart! When compassion emerges within us and we don’t even have the heart to kill an animal, who would take up weapons to kill another human? The truth is as simple as this. The day the world becomes vegan is the day the world will have peace. Please renounce that morsel of meat. Let peace begin from our dining table, and let the vegan diet begin with our awakening! My gratitude to the Supreme Master Television team for your selfless contribution! My gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai for Your all divine love and blessing! Ming-Ye from ChinaAwakened Ming-Ye, Thank you so much for sharing your heartbreak and insight into how we can all change to create a world of peace and loving harmony. Our souls want a beautiful world where there is no killing and all live as one, equal, respected, and cherished for our unique individuality as a vibrant living being. May we soon be living together in friendship, sharing the natural abundance God has created on Earth for all. May the Buddhas bless heroic China and its shining people and animals, Supreme Master TV teamP.S. Master also says: “Beneficent Ming-Ye, you are right that if we mentally put ourselves in the place of an animal trapped in the livestock factory, we can have an understanding of the violence, fear and terror they experience every moment of their lives. Let us pray that people now deeply contemplate how animal food arrives on their plate and decide to stop the killing. Heaven’s mercy to you and agreeable China.”We welcome your heartlines, stories and or cute, loving animal clips. True Monk: Selections from Jainism's Holy Sutrakritanga Sutra, Book II, Lecture 1 – The Lotus, Part 2 of 2
“A monk who does not act, nor kill, who is free from wrath, pride, deceit, and greed, who is calm and happy, should not entertain the following wish: May I, after my departure from this world, by dint of my intellect, knowledge, memory, learning, or of the performance of austerities, religious duties, chastity, or of this habit to eat no more than is necessary to sustain life, become a god at whose command are all objects of pleasure, or a perfected saint who is exempt from pain and misery. (Through his austerities) he may obtain his object, or he may not obtain it. A monk should not be infatuated with sounds, colors, smells, tastes, and feelings of touch; he should abstain from wrath, pride, deceit, and greed, from love, hate, quarrel, calumny, reviling of others, aversion to control and delight in sensual things, deceit and untruth, and the sin of wrong belief. In this way a monk ceases to acquire gross karma, controls himself, and abstains from sins. He does not kill movable or immovable beings, nor has them killed by another person, nor does he consent to another’s killing them. In this way a monk ceases to acquire gross karma, controls himself, and abstains from sins. He does not acquire sentient or senseless objects of pleasure, nor has them acquired by another person, nor does he consent to another’s acquiring them.” “A monk who knows the proper measure in all things travelling in one direction or other, should teach, explain, and praise the Law (spiritual precepts), preach it unto those who exert themselves well, and to those who do not, to all who come to listen. He should preach to them indifference for the peace of mind, cessation of passion, Nirvana, purity, simplicity, humility, freedom from bonds. He should preach the Law which prohibits to kill any living being, after having well considered it. When a monk preaches the Law (spiritual precepts), he should preach it not for the sake of food, drink, clothes, resting-place, or lodging, nor for any objects of pleasure; but he should preach the Law indefatigably, for no other motive than the annihilation of karma. Those heroes of faith who are instructed in the Law (spiritual precepts), by such a monk and exert themselves well, are possessed of all virtues, abstain from all sins, cease from all passions, conduct themselves well in every way, and reach final beatitude.”

Mark believes that, ultimately, there is only one way to truly protect the lives of animals: the widespread adoption of a vegan lifestyle. In addition to improving animal welfare, this shift would have many other benefits for our planet. “If we move towards a plant-based diet, obviously that is going to bring enormous harmony and peace and compassion. It will just allow our society to become less violent. So, I think my view is that we are actually moving that way. I mean in some countries, intensive farming is proliferating, but I think it's doomed. It's going to fall over, because, like the Paris Summit said, the strain on the environment and our resources, putting aside animal welfare, it is illogical in terms of the survival of the planet, to keep going in that direction. So just scientifically, business thinking, we have to move away from it.” For decades, humans have conducted behavioral experiments on animals, hoping to discover more about the way they think and act. Mr. Pearson shares his views on such animal experimentation. “But I think us, the closer you come to the sense of awe and delight in seeing the mystery and beauty of an animal in its majesty, and not wanting to control it, then you become a much better person and the best in you is nourished by that relationship. So, I think that's very important.” Mark believes that if people truly understood the immense suffering that meat consumption causes for animals, they would immediately adopt a plant-based lifestyle. He wishes that all beings on Earth, even the animals, were vegan. “And the sinister thing is that in most countries, people sit down to their meat with their knife and fork, cutting into it with their knife and fork, unaware that far in the distance in a valley somewhere, animals are being slaughtered, and your action here is implicated. You are connected to that. You connect to that sorrow, to that fear. And it's in the food you're eating. So, what's happening to you when you consume the flesh of another who's suffered fear and distress?”

In God’s mercy, we implore all humans to end the habit of meat-eating to avert deadly diseases and to elevate our moral and spiritual standard.

Chi gong is an ancient Chinese exercise that people practice to cultivate the chi – the vital life-force all around and within us. It utilizes meditation, controlled breathing, guided visualization and movements to stimulate the flow of chi throughout the body, thus assisting one in self-healing and preventing illnesses. Tai chi, a popular form of chi gong exercise, is now regarded as a health-promoting activity worldwide. This five-part series features our interview with Dr. Wen B-Chen, the creator of the marvelous Mind-Body-Chi (MBC) relaxation exercise program that incorporates the essence of chi gong, tai chi, yoga and meditation. He will present a unique interpretation of MBC’s various health benefits from a Western medical perspective and give demonstrations of the MBC exercises. Dr. Wen is a former radiation oncologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami, USA. He was also the radiation oncology medical director at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, USA. “For people at the age of 30 to 55, that’s my target. Some of them really don’t have time to do exercise to maintain their health. I put together these movements and breathing to help those people. As long as they carve out a certain portion of time for themselves during the day, then their health gets maintained.” “MBC stands for Mind, Body, Chi, and Chi is c-h-i. In our (Chinese) culture, chi represents air, or spirit, or breath, or vitalities. We were taught in our culture that chi exists everywhere, in the universe and in our bodies. Inside the body, chi is supposed to follow the blood, or even go with the blood and nurture our internal organs and extremities, joints, and muscles.” To cater to senior citizens, Dr. Wen has recently expanded the MBC program from the original 6 exercises to 10, with the sequence rearranged. In our series, we’ll cover all 10 exercises. Let’s now see Dr. Wen's demonstration of exercise #1 and #2 of the MBC program.

Life is short, anyway. You do what you can to be worthy of a human’s life. It’s all illusion anyway. But it's funny how illusion can even make people really suffer. This is a game here. It's a game; cannot avoid it. We are ascetic, but for necessity. Right? (Yes.) But that one, I think I can go without. The bicycling uphill, I think I can go without. I don’t know if it’s good for anybody, but I can go without. It depends on your life viewpoint, whether or not something is ascetic, or not. Right? (Yes.) For me, I don’t feel ascetic. I have a big house! Joking. That was just after the dog came. Because they built that house, but I never lived in it. In the beginning only, and then after the fire incident, I just said “sayonara” (goodbye) to the house. I don’t dare to live there anymore. Not only that, but after that, we have caves already. So, I didn’t have to stay in the house.Actually, I could stay in the house, but I didn’t feel like it. I didn’t feel like it at all. Sometimes, I come in just to meet somebody there, like an office because my cave is too small. I don’t know, my cave is smaller than all of yours. I don’t know why, how did they do it? Two meters square is already very small. They shortened it a little bit, just to make sure everybody knows that’s Master’s cave – small size. It wasn’t necessary.I often don’t meet people in the cave, except some private secretary or something. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, we don’t go there and just meet in my cave. Two people can sit, three, no. So, I never really stayed in that house. But now the dogs came and I don’t have enough room in the cave for all the dogs. They like to be around me, so they hang around and I’m working. Very convenient! Anybody wants to come to my office must go through the dogs first. They screen many out. “Ow-ow-ow-ow-out! Out, out, out! Out!” “No, no, no, no!” “Go, go! Go, go, go, go!” And English also, “Goodbye!”People think I have a lot of money. I don’t see any. It probably goes from one door to another so quick. I don’t even know how much we have. We give out quickly. A little bit here, a little bit there every day, almost every week. Right? Hardly two days go by without any contributions. It’s not a lot, but every drop of water comes in and then it fills the cup, or drains the cup, depends. Not only that, but because we are very frugal, right? (Yes.) Very frugal we are. (Yes.) When I go out, I wear some nice clothes, but that’s it. When I’m at home, I don’t wear a lot. I mean, I don’t need a lot of clothes. A couple is enough. It’s just so many. Everybody buys something. The attendants before, they bought all kinds of sizes. They didn’t consider what I look like if I wear them. Either very tight, like sardines in a tin or very big. And they’re just hanging in there. Last winter, I had a couple of hours; I sorted them all out but still some more left. They buy all kinds of shoes, all sizes, that fit elephants and horses. And then I don’t even wear them. And then they just go bad. They grow old and broken by themselves. Nobody touched them; they’re broken by themselves. They grow old. I did not think I was old until I see all the shoes. When I saw all the shoes, I know how old they are already, how long they have been there, then I know how old I probably have been, added on over the years.I’m sorry we don’t have many. We could have more of us, but I cannot always find more people. Most of them, they have karma outside. They don’t have ascetic karma like us. Actually, we are very frugal. Otherwise, all the money I earn would have been gone already before they even touched any poor or needy people. Because if we build houses for every (one) of us and luxury style, one car each, the insurance money will eat us up, and the mortgage or whatever. We’re OK. Right? We are better than… We’re better off than lots of people, truly. Children who don’t have food to eat, they become only bones, especially in the African kind of countries. Oh my God, you just shed tears when you see all that. We are very good – too good. I really think we’re too good. We have everything – in the cave.I used to love my cave so much, because whenever I entered, I felt so comfortable. I looked outside, it’s so wide. And my cave seems very big to me. It’s my size, but I feel it’s very big inside, a lot of space somehow. But my dog Good Love doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like caves, He doesn’t like huts, He doesn’t like anything like that. He likes a house. Sofa – must have.In Italy, we have one house, but I didn't live inside the house. I felt it was too big. If I lived there, it was too much cleaning and taking care. So, I have a very little house like those storeroom house, storehouses, almost as big as a cave, a little bit taller because of the roof. I bought that kind of house; very simple, and put it a little bit outside to stay in, and I brought my dog. It’s enough room for Him, but He didn't like. So He kept running inside the house. He ran and He looked back at me like, “Come hither. Come along, not that type of house!” He kept looking at me and He ran and looked and ran. And I said, “If you want, you can go in there. I don't need to go there.”And now and then He went inside, staying on the sofa, sleeping there alone with air con and all. My little house, about two meters long, one and a half meters wide, is enough for Him and me, but He didn't like it. I know there's no air con, but I bought specially for Him this kind of stone, marble. I forgot how to say that. Marble! A piece of marble, bigger than His size. I put it on the corner for Him, that's very cool. No! Doesn't like! I said, “Sit down!” He sat. OK, He sat. And then I looked outside the window; when I came back, no more! When I looked back, no more! Good Love was gone! And He went inside the house and lay on the sofa in front of the air con. What kind of dog? And eats Aulacese (Vietnamese) (vegan) spring rolls and stuff like that. Normal (vegan) food He doesn’t eat. (Vegan) dog food – He looks at it, sniff-sniff and then leaves it there. He eats it when He's hungry though. But if He has a (vegan) spring roll or Aulacese (Vietnamese) vegan spring roll, or something like that, then He gobbles it quick. He’s so big and beautiful. Whenever I say, “I don't understand why your ex-caretaker owner just did not keep you,” and He says, “Hm!” He says like that, “Hm!” All the time. “Hm! Don’t mention those people!” I think one time, He said it in front of the camera, on the BMD (Between Master and Disciples) in France. And everybody laughed so much, because He kind of punctuated that sentence, “Hm!” Like that. You guys enjoy? Good food? (Yes. Delicious. Thank You, Master.) You should come every weekend, every weekend different. Wow. Wow. The Westerner likes it. You can eat any more? Here? Boys, they eat more. Come, I put a little bit of magi sauce. Have more have a kick, a little kick. Boys eat a lot to grow up. They don't ever grow up, not if they can avoid. Everybody a little bit. Ah you cut, this one also. Did you have this before? Have right, everybody, a little bit. Symbolic of love. The people, are you OK there? Are you OK? (Yes, thank You.) If you want, you can come over. Just very tight, a little bit tight and don't sit as comfortable as you are over there with table. We here are more ascetic, we’re caveman, caveman is like this. Where was it? Mosquito, go!I'm thinking. I know you work very hard. Don't think I don't know. At least you think you work very hard, that I know. At least you think you work hard. Thinking is not real. Anyway, if you work hard, so what? Better than have no job, no? (Yes.) Nowadays, a lot of unemployed people, yeah? (Yes.) Even if I pay you a holy peanut, it’s better than nothing. It’s still holy, right? (Yes.) You are OK. You have everything you need, right? (Yes.) You’re much better than me then, when I was a so-called disciple. I hardly had anything to eat. It’s the Westerner, they eat like buffalo, and they left me nothing. I was busy working for the Guru. When I came out, nothing was left, except a big mountain of washing to do. They gave me that every day, washing. Are you OK there? What’s this? These two look the same, right? It's not, right? Apple juice. I don't need apple juice. Here, if you want it. With a risk! Don't drink too much apple juice. Don't eat too many apples. The story about Eve and Adam with the apple, it has some truth in it. It’s a seductive kind of fruit. It’s not the only one, of course, but I don't want to list the whole thing here, and then you have nothing to eat. Just eat less. It's good like this, we eat on Sundays, so I sometimes have a chance to tell you something that you don't want to hear, normally. With the food, it’s easy to swallow down. I know we work hard, but we work hard for a good cause. Whatever time you can sleep, you feel good in your heart. Nothing’s better than what you're doing. That's what I think. But it doesn't matter what I think. Right? You think differently. Right? Who cares? Yeah. Never mind. Life is short, anyway. You do what you can to be worthy of a human’s life. It’s all illusion anyway. But it's funny how illusion can even make people really suffer. This is a game here. It's a game; cannot avoid it. Why is it so sweet? I added a lot of Maggi, but it’s still very sweet. My favorite. I like it, but it’s a little too sweet. I am probably too full. I’m starting to criticize. How nice it would’ve been if I’d had these things to eat in India. I said when I was in India, if I’d had such things to eat... Wow! I would’ve felt like I didn’t need any more Guru, I’m in Heaven already. “Heaven is here and now.” I would’ve announced like that. But I didn’t care, really. Most happy time for me was living along the Ganges. Either in a cave or in a mud house, I felt happy, very happy.

One of the oldest religions in the world is Jainism, traditionally known as Jain Dharma. Originating from ancient India, this philosophy centers around concepts such as right perception, right knowledge, and right conduct in the attainment of moksha, or realization of the soul’s true nature. Lord Mahavira, who is considered to be the last Tirthankara, was born around the 5-6th century BC,

Today, the 20th of November, is Universal Children’s Day, an exceptional day that celebrates international togetherness and promotes awareness among children in order to improve the welfare of the younger generation worldwide. Rejoicing on this special occasion, let us take a look at two films that ignite the pure, simple, and imaginative inner child in our hearts: “Mary Poppins” and “Mary Poppins Returns.” These enchanting features are based on Mary Poppins, the beloved magical nanny originally brought to life in the fictional book series of the same name by P. L. Travers. The first film, released in 1964, is one of the most popular American musical fantasy films and has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Full of music, dance, elation, and imagination, this irresistible 1964 Walt Disney classic features legendary actors Julie Andrews as the enchanting Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke playing the joyful Bert. Directed by Robert Stevenson, the movie combines live-action with animation. As Mary Poppins takes care of the children, she brings a spark of magic to the Banks family, helping them rediscover their happiness, love, and wonder in life. The 1964 “Mary Poppins” was such a success that a year later, Walt Disney attempted to produce a sequel. Despite several tries, it was 54 years later, in 2018, that the long-awaited sequel, “Mary Poppins Returns,” was finally released. Blending the endearing elements from the original film into the sequel, “Mary Poppins Returns” warms the hearts of all viewers, adults and children alike. Starring Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, the movie also features songs that are both charming and insightful, as well as spirited animation that marvelously joins the live-action cast. “Mary Poppins” and its sequel “Mary Poppins Returns” are two wonderful films that teach valuable lessons about family, love, and hope through the fantastic adventures, incredible imagination, and timeless song and dance.
