Anna and Her Animal Friends

Anna and Her Animal Friends

Today, we have a story about a 6-year-old girl named Anna and an adventure that changed her life. Anna followed the animals to a large fig tree. As everyone held hands, Gloria Rabbit clapped twice and commanded, “The Garden of Eden opens! The Garden of Eden opens!” Lo and behold, an opening appeared at the base of the fig tree. Anna could see a tunnel path beyond it. Multi-colored lights shone brightly as they trekked their way through the tunnel, and out to a beautiful garden covered with giant trees, exotic plants, and wild flowers. A huge rainbow arched across the entire garden, sending out brilliant rays of colors. “So beautiful! This is like Heaven!” As Anna was absorbing all the wonders in this magical place, a carpet flew over her, and hovered in the air. Gloria Rabbit helped Anna aboard. Together, they went for a ride through the entire garden. It was magnificent! Anna saw many things that she had never seen before, such as a bright blue tomato patch, pumpkins bigger than herself, and rainbow-colored radishes. Eventually, they stopped in front of a cozy cabin where a group of animals awaited. “I am Tom Turkey, the best chef in the Garden. Come Anna, I have prepared a nutritious vegan meal. Please join us.” “What’s vegan food?” “Vegan foods are purely plant-based. It’s food that doesn’t contain any meat from animals.” “We are all vegans here, Anna. We don’t eat our friends.” All the animals sat around a big wooden table outside, and enjoyed Tom Turkey’s delicious feast. There were vegan breads, multicolored plant-based jelly, all sorts of nuts, and an herb and fruit salad. Anna’s favorite was the blue tomato juice. “We are delighted to have you here in the Garden of Eden, Anna. Please take care. See you soon!” One moment Anna was in the Garden of Eden, and the next instant she was back sitting by the fig tree. Her mother, Hong, was looking for her. “Anna, where have you been? It’s almost lunch time. Let’s go in.” As soon as they stepped into the kitchen, Anna saw Uncle Tom Turkey tied up on the counter, struggling. “Help, help!” “Please let the turkey go! He’s my friend. His name is Tom, and he is a great vegan cook. Let him go! We don’t need to eat him or other animals.” “Anna! What is the matter with you?” “I don’t want to eat my animal friends. Please don’t ever serve me meat again.” “But if you don’t eat meat, how will you have enough nutrition to grow big and strong?” “I can still grow big and strong. Gloria Rabbit, Tom Turkey, and other animal friends have shown me just how wonderful plant-based foods are. And how can I face my animal friends in the Garden of Eden again if I eat them as food?”

Pradeep Kumar Nath (vegan): Compassionate Protector of All Animals

Pradeep Kumar Nath (vegan): Compassionate Protector of All Animals

As a child, Pradeep Kumar Nath of India loved stray animals and would often bring them home. This compassionate tendency stayed with him as he passed through adolescence and later went to college. Even while he was earning his bachelor’s degree in law at Andhra University in his native city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh state, he pondered dedicating his life to animal rescue work. But in the mid-1990s, Visakhapatnam adopted a policy of putting down stray dogs and pigs. This was something Mr. Nath could not tolerate, and so he formed a nonprofit organization in 1996 that became Visakha Society for Protection and Care of Animals (VSPCA). With his background in law, he filed a complaint in 1997 with the Animal Welfare Board about the city’s killing of pigs. In 1998, he petitioned the Andhra Pradesh High Court to stop the killing of stray dogs. The court sided with Mr. Nath and authorized VSPCA to coordinate an Animal Birth Control program in Visakhapatnam. Since then, more than 100,000 dogs have been neutered and vaccinated, and an ongoing information campaign has raised public awareness of the efficacy of this approach to reducing the street dog population. Mr. Nath’s dedication to animal welfare began to attract the encouragement and support of generous individuals and foundations. He founded a sanctuary called The Eden of Love and Compassion that is home to hundreds of large and small rescued animals. The shelter has evolved to include specialized areas for birds, cats, cows, dogs, mongooses, monkeys, and star tortoises. In 2000, VSPCA started working with the Forest Department to inform people and maintain the environment so that the birds can arrive safely and enjoy a peaceful stay. Since then, poaching has diminished, and the size of the flocks has increased. Mr. Philip Wollen’s Winsome Constance Kindness Trust in Australia has been sponsoring VSPCA’s Kindness Mobile Restaurant since its inception in 2010. The idea is to prepare vegan food three days a week for some of the most indigent people in Visakhapatnam who care for a dog. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Pradeep Kumar Nath, with a humble contribution of US$10,000 to support the Visakha Society for Protection and Care of Animals, with love, praises and best wishes. May God always bless you and all involved abundantly.”

Supreme Master Ching Hai (Vegan) on the Harmful Effects of Meat, Part 13 - Atrocious Cruelty to Poultry

Supreme Master Ching Hai (Vegan) on the Harmful Effects of Meat, Part 13 - Atrocious Cruelty to Poultry

People fortunate to have chickens as companions find these loving creatures to be very affectionate, sociable, and intelligent. It is a sad and great loss for those who view these precious birds simply as food. More than 50 billion chickens confined in extremely crowded factories are slaughtered each year. Genetically modified and force-fed all kinds of hormones, medicine, and other chemicals to promote rapid growth, factory farm chickens have a life span of only 6-7 weeks rather than their normal 7-15 years. This leads to antibiotic immunity, dangerous hormones, poisonous chemicals, and epidemic diseases that are transferred to humans when they consume the chicken meat. “We love animals, cannot eat them. For example, will you go and grab a chicken and cut its throat and eat it, if you do it? (No.) No, you can’t. Just because people do it already and make it look so nice, a little piece, you don’t even realize that it’s life, it’s real life. He was walking on the farm yesterday with his little children and then they took him and cut his throat and then put on the table and eat it. (Yes.) Can you imagine? (Too sad.) We don’t do that – too sad, too sad. Because people don’t realize it, they’re too busy. (Yes, they are too busy.) Not like they don’t have a good heart: all the people have a good heart. They just don’t know that it becomes a habit, and one generation after another generation.” The egg industry is no less cruel. The hens are raised in filthy tiny cages, exposed to unnatural light all day to force-produce the maximum amount of eggs. The male chicks are deemed useless and are killed in the most heartless way. “Eggs have also been shown to be extremely unhealthy, so there is absolutely no need to eat them anyway. One US study with 14,000 adults found that just adding one egg a day to the diet increased the risk of heart failure by 23%. Vegan products, by contrast, are completely cholesterol-free and healthy for all our internal organs, for our mind as well. A healthy body houses a clear mind. It’s better for our body, for our conscience, for our mind, and for the planet to stay away from both fish and eggs. No animal products at all; that is the best way. We should be vegan.” “Spiritually speaking – some eggs may contain life in it. You don’t know which one with and which one without. It’s all mixed in the supermarket, you never know. That’s one thing. So, two: eggs attract negative power, negative energies. So the more you eat that, the more you’ll be irritated, sometimes you’ll get even possessed and you don’t know why. You don’t get possessed for nothing; must be something in your life that’s out of balance so that your guard has been destroyed, that the guardian angel is even helpless to help you, and your bodyguard, your natural guard, has been broken somehow so that disease or unfavorable entities, bad energy can enter your body and destroy your strong will power, controlling your own destiny.”

COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals

00:16:14

COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals

Welcome, concerned viewers, to today’s important, informative and urgent program, “COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals.” What exactly is a meat processing plant? They are fenced-off, massive multi-story, windowless buildings, in which as many as 10 million animals a year are killed, dismembered, cut into saleable pieces of meat or ground into hamburger mince, meat-meal, or meat-pastes, and then packaged for distribution. They were formerly called “slaughterhouses” or “abattoirs,” but have since been re-named “meat processing plants”- perhaps in an effort to make them less repulsive to the public’s ears and eyes. But we should have no doubt at all – these factories are horrific and torturous to both the animals and the humans who work there. During this current coronavirus pandemic, the slaughterhouse horror story is being magnified, as numerous meat processing plants have become hotspots for human transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Why is the virus so prevalent at meat processing plants? Many experts have cited, the stressful, dangerous working conditions in which employees stand shoulder-to-shoulder for long hours on the meat assembly line; in highly air-conditioned rooms laden with bacteria; and floors swirling in fecal matter and blood. This creates a highly volatile environment where disease can quickly spread. Added to this is the psychological and emotional stress of the constant killing, and the sounds and smells of death, all of which powerfully depress and inhibit the immune systems of the workers, which is exactly what the virus needs for infection and transmission. Whether the meat itself was a medium of transfer, or the workers spread it through their meat-products, equipment and bacterial-rich working conditions, remains to be discovered. One thing is for certain – these situations must stop, and stop quickly! Many organizations are calling for the permanent closure of meat processing plants, and an urgent and complete shift to a plant-based lifestyle. Supreme Master Ching Hai has reminded us that all pandemics and environmental disasters are the consequences from killing billions of innocent and helpless animal co-inhabitants, and recommends a global adoption of the vegan lifestyle.
