The Call of Cosmic Evolution: Excerpts from “Leaves of Morya’s Garden” by Spiritual Messengers Nicholas and Helena Roerich (vegetarians), Part 2 of 2

“I bestow My Wisdom upon you. I am not a bridge built of promises, but verily the Light that calls to you. I teach love. My disciples must realize happiness in the love of Christ. Love can create universes. Love and Wisdom are equal.” “I expound happiness. I shall designate the path for the battle against the bazaar that is the present world. People have reached a dead end, but lightning will reveal the way out, And thunder will arouse the slumberers. Mountains have crashed to earth. Lakes have been drained of their waters. Cities have been engulfed by floods. Hunger shows its face. Yet has the spirit of humanity remained unmoved. Go, teach, stretch out the hand of aid! Seek happiness and exalt the spirit. Faith in self and the search for Truth create harmony.” “By Us and by you, together, is the spiritual culture built. The Truth of the world will stand firm. The Light will penetrate the darkness—I attest. The Gates of the Spiritual World are thrown open.” “I love being your Teacher in quests of the Spirit. The other world, where My days are, must kindle joy in yours.”

Moeraki Boulders: Giants’ Bowling Balls

Moeraki Boulders: Giants’ Bowling Balls

One of my favorite spots is Koekohe Beach, where we may see its magically impressive Moeraki Boulders. These outstanding boulders are an unusual geological phenomenon that have been millions and millions of years in the making. Now famous, they have entertained countless travelers and have been playfully dubbed the “Bowling Balls of the Giants,” “Alien’s Brains,” “Dinosaur Eggs,” and the “Stonehenge of New Zealand.” The biggest of the boulders at Koekohe Beach, New Zealand, weigh up to seven tonnes. The Moeraki Boulders of New Zealand reach up to two meters in diameter. Each boulder is adorned with unique geometrical patterns like the reptilian scales of a dragon. For hundreds of years, they have ignited the imaginations of many sightseers who have come to this otherwise solitary stretch of New Zealand coastline. There are 50 boulders remaining in Koekohe Beach, which are now protected by New Zealand law. Since 1971, laws in New Zealand were passed to ensure that the unique Moeraki Boulders be protected, just like other national treasures including us Hooker’s sea lions.

Buddhist Stories: Wish-Fulfilling Jewels, Part 3 of 10 Aug. 13, 2015

At that time, one of the monks, he somehow intuitively knew that the Buddha wanted Ananda. And other people also understood that. And then Sariputra and Maudgalyayana came up to me and said, “Annada, I think the Buddha wants you to be His attendant. Come, get up quickly and then ask the Buddha to allow you to be His attendant.” “I don't know what to do. So I said, ‘If the two great elderly Reverends think thus, then please come and ask the Buddha for me. But in order to be the Buddha's attendant, I request three privileges.’” What do you think he asked? “Number one, if the Buddha had old clothes, he will not want to accept it.” “Number two, whatever the Buddha ate that's left over, do not give it to me.” “Number three, it's meaning that, depending on the season and time, only he himself will take care for the Buddha.” So the two great disciple monks came up and told all that to the Buddha. Then the Buddha explained like this: “But you should know it's not just this day. It's not just in this lifetime that he asked for this.” “A long time ago, past life, he also serve me and also did this.” Maybe that's why he knew everything. He knew about what Buddha wanted and what time he should give what. He was very pure and good. He was unconditional.

The Call of Cosmic Evolution: Excerpts from “Leaves of Morya’s Garden” by Spiritual Messengers Nicholas and Helena Roerich (vegetarians), Part 1 of 2

The esteemed mystical and philosophical writers Nicholas Roerich and his wife Helena Roerich are two of the most influential spiritual thought leaders from Russia. They are recognized for founding a doctrine called Agni Yoga, also known as Living Ethics. Traveling extensively throughout Asia to deepen their spiritual studies, the Roerichs eventually met their Master in Darjeeling, India. Morya revealed messages of higher wisdom to Nicholas and Helena Roerich, which they recorded on paper and later gathered into a series of texts. One of these is the two-volume book titled “Leaves of Morya’s Garden.” “By holiness in life, guard the precious Gem of Gems. Aum Tat Sat Aum! (‘The Supreme Absolute Truth’ or ‘All that is’) I am thou, thou art I—parts of the Divine Self. I invoke blessings unto you. Salvation will be yours! Life nourishes the soul. Strive for the life glorified, and for the realization of purity. Put aside all prejudices—think freely.”

IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land – Heralding a Plant-Powered Global Food System, Part 1 of 2

IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land – Heralding a Plant-Powered Global Food System, Part 1 of 2

IPCC is the body established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988 to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments concerning climate change. It was the recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for its work on climate change. The newly released second Special Report on Climate Change and Land brings revitalized hope with its wise, clear policy suggestions. The key message of the report is that in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, better land use, halting deforestation, and cutting down on food waste must be the priorities. In a 2009 conference, the world-renowned humanitarian and spiritual Master, Supreme Master Ching Hai, shared with attendees, “So, to cool the planet most quickly, we have to stop consuming meat in order to stop the livestock-raising industry, and thus stop greenhouse gases, methane and other toxic gases from the animal industry.”

Buddhist Stories: Wish-Fulfilling Jewels, Part 2 of 10 Aug. 13, 2015

So that's why we should never, never ask to be born again, or even in this lifetime, to become a king or anything. You have enough food to eat, you have enough clothes to wear; that is the best thing already. And whatever's left, maybe you can spare it, then you give it to the poorer people. Whatever you can. Even just a little bit of something, some food. The food that we've wasted on our planet in every rich country, we could use that to nourish the whole planet three times over. We must organize together. The food organizations, the food ministries of all the countries have to sit together and tackle this intelligently, compassionately, or else. Or else we all have consequences. This story's about somebody named Đại Thí. He's the one who tried to empty the ocean. “Thus I have heard.” At one time, the Buddha was in the country called La-duyệt-kỳ (Rajagariha) in the mountain Linh Thứu (Ghridhrakuta). “Kiều-trần-như (Kaundinya), and then Mahakasyapa, and then Sariputra, and then Maudgalyayana, and another 500 big monks came out one by one, one by one, wanting to be His attendant. But He refused them all.” It's not easy. Everybody wants to be the Buddha's attendant. But you have to be able also.

Selections from The Zen Poetry of Dōgen (vegetarian) – Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace: Part II, Chapter 3

Zen Buddhist Master Dōgen Zenji was the founder of the Sōtō school of Zen Buddhism in Japan, which promotes sitting meditation as the way to enlightenment. The Buddhist Master was one of the most remarkable Zen Masters in history and was also an outstanding poet. The book, "The Zen Poetry of Dōgen - Verses from the Mountain of Eternal Peace," is by Dōgen scholar Steven Heine. It is a complete translation of Dōgen’s collection of thirty-one-syllable Japanese poetry, or waka, plus a translation of a selection of the Master's Chinese verse, or kanshi. It offers a distinct and revealing insight into Master Dōgen’s unique style of Zen naturalist and aesthetic philosophy. "My companions Trekking The six realms - I recognize my father! There is my mother! Contemplating the clear moon Reflecting a mind as the open sky - Drawn by its beauty, I lose myself In the shadows it casts. Traveling the six realms, Seeking the primordial words Of the seven Buddhas of Nara, Which are ceaselessly Pervading all paths."

Angels in the Operating Room: Tricia Barker's Near Death Experience, Part 4 of 4

On today’s program, we’ll learn more about Ms. Tricia Barker’s lessons from Heaven. Ms. Barker believes that overcoming fear is one of life’s greatest challenges. In the classroom, she teaches students one technique for doing so. “And it’s generally fear that prevents us from being in that flow of God. And I just began to show them, ‘You have other options.’ So, I could teach them how to be different, how to look at this world differently.” Through her near-death experience, Ms. Barker came to understand the inter-connectedness of all beings on Earth. She shares how, in each moment, we can help make the world a better place. “And I think that’s maybe one of the most important things we can do is to spread that love and that light across this planet. You can help in more situations than you think you're capable of helping.” “I think near-death experiences help people have greater faith in god. But I wish everybody could every day feel the love of God, feel the energetic experience of God, because there's nothing better.”

Planting Benevolent Seeds in Children’s Hearts – Nepal’s Shree Lho Basic School, Part 2 of 2

Today, we continue to discover additional attributes of this institution and the great works of the teachers who look after youngsters. The Reverend Sonam Chhiling Lama shared with us the importance of daily prayers in student life. “We always do our morning prayers and worship. The main purpose of morning prayers and rites is to make our students wiser and to pay attention to the righteous teachings that guide us.” One joyful result of the school’s establishment is that it has brought local villages closer together. “We sometimes organize community service events. During these events, some people come from the upper hills, while some from the lower villages and they gather together and peacefully socialize during these programs, and cooperate with each other. This is how this school has contributed to our community.” Currently, the Shree Lho Basic School teaches through the 7th grade. However, it will soon expand and eventually serve students through the 10th grade.

Buddhist Stories: Wish-Fulfilling Jewels, Part 1 of 10 Aug. 13, 2015

Now, I just want to tell you, just want to remind you. Because all of these stories and the merit that you acquire when you take care of the Buddha’s stupas, or you offer to the living Buddhas or the past Buddhas or the sangha - all of this is for the ordinary people - the people who want to be reborn again as gods in Heaven - maybe small gods, big gods, depends on their merit - or people who like to become humans again, with richness and power. But always being chased by the (bad) karma…. So mind you, all the merit that we dedicate to be a god, or angels or divas or humans with position, power, and money, brings us nothing, protects us from nothing. (Bad) karma is still there chasing after us, life after life, until somehow it’s dissolved. So it’s no safety. No safety at all for us to stay in the Heavens or stay on Earth with all power, merit, whatever it is. It’s all impermanent. So it’s better we practice, like immediate enlightenment, and then from then on you will never worry about anything else.

Prophecy of the Golden Age Part 72 - Native American Prophecies with Chief Phil Lane Jr.

Prophecy of the Golden Age Part 72 - Native American Prophecies with Chief Phil Lane Jr.

Our distinguished guest, The Honorable Chief Phil Lane Jr., shares his insights. “our prophecies tell us that we are at the crossroads. We face chaos, disaster, and endless tears from our relatives’ eyes, or we can unite spiritually in peace and harmony. It’s time to bring the Message of the urgent need for Peace, of creating an energy shift throughout the world.” For decades, Supreme Master Ching Hai has also been patiently sharing the same message as the ancient Native American prophecies. It is a message of urgent warning, but also one of hope. “They have two choices now: one is total destruction, another is to go ahead with progress in all ways of life, including spiritual. And the future is in our hands, really. So it’s our duty to rescue people if we love this planet, we think it’s a beautiful place, which it is.” “Every time we think negative, we are responsible for a disaster in the world, or in our neighborhood. So try to think positive all the time. Try to be loving and kind.”

His Holiness Marpa Lotsawa (vegetarian): Remarkable Tibetan Buddhist Master, Part 1 of 4

Marpa the Translator, or Marpa Lotsawa in Tibetan, is one of the most renowned Saints in Tibetan Buddhist history. A great Master and scholar, Marpa Lotsawa was a founding father of the kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He was a disciple of the great Indian Buddhist yogi, mystic, and Master, Mahasiddha Sri Naropa. Marpa Lotsawa brought many Vajrayana and Mahamudra teachings from India to Tibet and translated them into Tibetan. Born Tarma Wangchuk in Lhodrak Chukhyer, southern Tibet, to wealthy landowners and farmers, Master Marpa was the youngest of four children. He was a very energetic child. To obtain the Dharma, He had to make long and dangerous trips to India against the wishes of His parents and relatives. Therefore, Naropa immediately welcomed Marpa to assume the role of His future lineage holder. Marpa was given abhisekas.

Four Types of Beings in Our Life, Part 6 of 6 July 14, 2019

I wanted to tell you that because not only American husbands, but other people, other countries' husbands, they're also very loyal to their wives. And I'm very, very happy about that. So, if any of you women complain about your husband, I think you should also introspect your style, your lifestyle. You must have love and wisdom as well. You have to be also sometimes feminine, sometimes very cooperative. Because if your house is not peaceful, it's difficult to find peace of mind. They're always in your mind and you go nowhere. Peaceful solution is always the best. So, even if it's your enemy, you just bear with it, because mostly, you love your enemy. That's the way it's arranged in this world, so that you will equalize the hatred that you had with each other formerly. That's how it goes. Life has to be about love. I don't wish you to come back but maybe you have to. If you don't long enough to go Home, then this is where you stay.
