Marc Chagall: Artist, Dreamer and Innovator, Part 2 of 2

With the commission of a great art dealer and book publisher, Ambroise Vollard, Mr. Chagall initiated his world renowned “The Bible” illustrations project in 1931. It’s considered one of his greatest masterpieces. In 1938, he painted White Crucifixion, an oil on canvas. In the following years, Mr. Chagall produced many other celebrated works. At the age of 80, Mr. Chagall painted two monumental murals for the lobby of New York’s Metropolitan Opera House, at Lincoln Center; The Sources of Music and The Triumph of Music. On March 28, 1985, while working on a tapestry for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, he passed away at his home in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France, at the age of 97. Mr. Marc Chagall enriched the world by producing a vast collection of images and poetry, featuring biblical themes and memories of everyday life.

Assimilating the Yoga Spirit into Daily Life, Part 2 of 2

Assimilating the Yoga Spirit into Daily Life, Part 2 of 2

Yoga is not simply a workout; it’s also a form of spiritual cultivation to achieve a balanced life and liberation. Yoga practice involves both active qualities, such as the various postures performed, as well as static like meditation. All of the practice elements require relaxation and concentration to obtain the best results. How does Meggie quickly tune into the desired state? “When I do yoga practice by myself, I will pray first. I usually pray that today I will be able to bring the flow of God to the students through this exercise; and allow the students to benefit, whether it’s physical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual. They can give feedback and contribute positive energy to the universe.” For those who have a desk job, movement during the workday is likely minimal. Meggie has some asanas that can be done in one’s chair for better health. As we’ve just seen, yoga can be done practically anywhere. Here are some postures we can do in the comfort of our home.

The World Is Nothing but an Illusion, Part 2 of 4, June 15, 2019

The World Is Nothing but an Illusion, Part 2 of 4, June 15, 2019

There are two sides in this life. One side is the material world, the other side is the spiritual world. It's not enough if we only busy ourselves in the material world. We will come back later and it will be the same suffering and happiness. We keep coming and going, trapped inside the prison. There is nothing truly meaningful. Sometimes, we have to suffer a lot before we realize this, realize the most important point, realize that we are really bound by these rules, or by our mind. These things are really useless. People who haven't suffered are less likely to understand. Those who have suffered will understand, because they will cherish the human body, which is too precious and too fleeting. When I talk to you, I have to laugh. But if I'm trapped in a situation, it's also quite agonizing. While suffering, I also realize that it is actually nothing. The world is nothing but an illusion. So, when we are in deep samadhi, the whole world vanishes, even our own person vanishes. The numerous illusions of sentient beings life after life, have manifested into this or that. As the Diamond Sutra stated, "Be free of all attachments, so that your mind will be free."

How to Attain Knowledge of the Higher Worlds by Dr. Rudolf Steiner (vegetarian), Part 2 of 3

How to Attain Knowledge of the Higher Worlds by Dr. Rudolf Steiner (vegetarian), Part 2 of 3

An eloquent public speaker and gifted writer, he gave over 6,000 lectures in his lifetime and gained recognition as a literary critic. His writings cover a wide range of subjects, and he published more than 25 books, including “Mysticism at the Dawn of the Modern Age,” “The Way of Initiation,” and “Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path: A Philosophy of Freedom.” “If we do not develop within ourselves this deeply-rooted feeling that there is something higher than ourselves, we shall never find enough strength to evolve to something higher. The Initiate has only acquired the power of lifting his intellect to the heights of knowledge by guiding his heart into the depths of veneration and devotion. The heights of the Spirit can only be reached by passing through the portals of humility. Man can certainly have the right to gaze upon the Reality, but he must first earn this right. You can only acquire right knowledge when you are ready to esteem it. There are laws in the spiritual life, as in the physical life.”

Friends of Eternity - A Special Gathering with Supreme Master Ching Hai and Cherished Artists, Part 28

“There was one bird who came into my garden. She was spotted all over the body. And she walked with me like she knew me forever. And one day I said, ‘Wow! You’re so beautiful. Can I show you on TV? The way you walk with me and friendly.’ She said, ‘No. Please don’t. People might capture me.’ Then I woke up, I said, ‘That’s for sure.’ They talk to me in such a way it amazes me in English, in their English. I mean inside, a telepathic way, not speaking. Their English is, my God, it’s better than mine. And they use words that I didn’t use before, that I don’t often use. Very high English. Oh my God. I can spend all my life with animals.” “No matter what I say, love is felt inside. I truly appreciate that you came from such a long way here. Despite your schedule, your family and everything. And without further ado, may I invite you to dinner, to my humble little kitchen. Let’s go now!”

Exceptional Friendships Between Different Species

Exceptional Friendships Between Different Species

Today we will showcase several unusual relationships between animals that are very different from each other. In 2004, a massive earthquake beneath the Indian Ocean caused tsunamis that devastated the surrounding coasts. The high waters swept a hippopotamus family in Kenya down a river and into the ocean. The only survivor, a baby, ended up on a reef off the Kenyan coastline. They named him Owen and arranged for him to be transported to Haller Park, a Kenyan wildlife sanctuary. Owen was put in an enclosure that contained an Aldabra giant tortoise known as Mzee. The two began sharing food, swimming, and sleeping together, and sometimes Mzee would stretch out his neck so Owen could lick it. The next story rather reminds me of a fairy tale. One day in 2013, Mr. Berge and his German shepherd companion Tinni were taking a walk through the woods near their home. They came across an amiable red fox who Mr. Berge named Sniffer. Amazingly, the domesticated dog and the wild fox took a liking to each other.

The World Is Nothing but an Illusion, Part 1 of 4, June 15, 2019

The World Is Nothing but an Illusion, Part 1 of 4, June 15, 2019

There are no emotions up above; no worries, no ego, no mind, no such important things that humans yearn for. For example, if you come down from the Fifth World, you have to pass by the Third World. You will be equipped with some tools and outfits over there. Then you will want to create things. You will want to use your talent and create things in the world, and help to beautify the world. And when you come down to the Second World, you will be given the mind. When we have the mind, we have ego. "Ah, I can do this." "I am like this." "I'm like that." It also brings problems. Some people cannot do much, so they develop an inferiority complex and blame themselves. It all comes from the mind. That's not what we are. And then, when we get to the Astral World, it will give us those emotions - happiness, anger, grief and joy. It doesn't help us to be liberated. So, we will be free only when we shed all those bodies. The three bodies bind us to the worlds of formation, existence, destruction and emptiness.

How to Attain Knowledge of the Higher Worlds by Dr. Rudolf Steiner (vegetarian), Part 1 of 3

Born in 1861, Dr Rudolf Steiner was a great Austrian polymath, a philosopher and scientist who made influential contributions in the fields of education, science, spirituality, and medicine. Today we’ll read a passage from Dr. Rudolf Steiner’s book “The Way of Initiation,” in which he shares his deep inner realizations on how we are all capable of discovering the inner knowledge and treasures of the Spirit. “In the first place, he who strives earnestly after the higher knowledge need not be afraid of any difficulty or obstacle in his search for an Initiate who shall be able to lead him into the profounder secrets of the world. For it is a strict law with all Initiates to withhold from no man the knowledge that is due him. But there is an equally strict law which insists that no one shall receive any occult knowledge until he is worthy and well prepared.”

The Russian-French artist Marc Chagall was hailed as one of the giants of European Modernism in the visual arts, during the 20th century. Love and religion, and then later, peace and humanity, were the prominent subjects in his work, presented in a dreamlike, lyrical or metaphorical way. How did Marc Chagall begin his artistic journey? Let’s go back to his origins. He was the eldest of nine children. Considering that his parents were observant Hasidic Jews, religion played an important role in his family, and later became an enduring source of inspiration for his art. At the age of 13, he was enrolled in a Russian high school, where a passion for art formed in his heart. Marc’s formal training in art began when the renowned realist artist Yehuda Pen, of Vitebsk. In 1910, Marc moved to Paris to further his studies. Paris was then the center of international arts and culture. The lively and thrilling artistic atmosphere, cultural activities, and everything else about Paris Stimulated the young artist. Marc Chagall’s paintings often featured his beloved wife. Bella was his muse, as well as the bride in many of his paintings. Serving the World without Harming Other Beings – Farmer Sivalingam Vasanthakumar, Part 2 of 2

Although the decision not to send his sheep for slaughter has cost him almost £10,000 in lost earnings, Kumar has no regrets and has peace of mind. Being aware of climate change, Kumar decided that, along with changing his business from animal livestock farming to organic vegetable growing, he would also change his diet. “At the moment, I am a vegetarian. I am in the process of becoming a vegan.” “It’s only a small farm, but I think if we all do a little bit, little bit, we will make a big impact on the planet’s ecosystem.” “But it will change, because now we’re seeing climate change, that evidence coming up that livestock farming is causing, creating a lot of carbon emission and so, the farming system has to change.” In closing, Kumar expresses his love for all beings. “From my heart, I would like to tell everybody that every life matters on this planet. So, let’s not destroy them. Look after them, nurture them; they are precious. The planet is precious for us. Let’s be kind to all living beings.”

The Golden Age Is the Elevation of Souls, Part 3 of 3, May 4, 2019

The Golden Age Is the Elevation of Souls, Part 3 of 3, May 4, 2019

“If humankind has enough merit and the whole world enters into a Golden Era, what will this world look like? I want to have an expectation.” “You will know when the time comes.” “Because our inside is different than outside. For example, during retreat, some people saw that Master had elevated Thailand to a level higher than this planet. But if you ask the Thai people, will they understand? It’s a matter of the soul. Even useless things regarding the body, our mind cannot know too much. We can only learn some science or medicine, how to use computers, etc. But we cannot know much about the things inside. Sentient beings are ignorant. They are blocked because of the body. It’s so pitiful. That’s why all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas take pity on all beings. They know that the beings have been blocked and obstructed too much. Otherwise, why do Masters have to come and go? One Master would be enough to elevate the whole world. It’s not that easy.” “Our mind is in this world and deals with things here. Our soul is beyond and does his or her own things.”

From the Essenes Gospel of Peace: Excerpts from Book One – Purification in God’s Love, Part 2 of 2

The Essenes were often found in communities where meditation or prayer was an important part of daily life that was dedicated to God. With respect for all forms of life, the Essenes’ diet was purely vegetarian. Today we continue with enlightening excerpts from the Essene Gospel of Peace, as we learn more about the important connection between our physical and spiritual states. “When you can gaze on the brightness of the noonday Sun with unflinching eyes, you can then look upon the blinding Light of your Heavenly Father, which is a thousand times brighter than the brightness of a thousand Suns. But how should you look upon the blinding Light of your Heavenly Father, when you cannot even bear the shining of the blazing Sun? Believe me, the Sun is as the flame of a candle beside the Sun of Truth of the Heavenly Father. Have but faith, therefore, and hope, and love. I tell you truly, you shall not want your reward. If you believe in my words, you believe in Him who sent me, who is the Lord of all, and with whom all things are possible.”

Holy Songs: Uplifting Ethiopian Songs

Holy Songs: Uplifting Ethiopian Songs

Ethiopia is one of the world’s oldest countries. In today’s show, we are delighted to share with you three Ethiopian worship songs in Amharic. The First song is called, “Holy Spirit,” performed by Zuriyash Tsega W/Tensai and Samuel T Michael. The song expresses one’s deep longing for the radiant presence of the Holy Spirit. Our next song is “Igziabeher’s Peace” composed by Mesfin Gutu, and performed by Bereket, Ephrem, Sammy, and Teddy. “Igziabeher” means “Our Father Lord of Eternity” in Geez, a language used by the ancient Ethiopian Tewahado Church. Finally, our third song is called “It is Possible,” performed by Kalkidan Abebe and composed by Ayouab Gebremariam. This Amharic Gospel song uplifts our spirit and reminds us of all the things we can do when we remember God.
