From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3, May 15, 1999

From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3, May 15, 1999

We now invite you to listen to Supreme Master Ching Hai’s insightful lecture titled “From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3” delivered in Yerevan, Armenia on May 15, 1999. “It has been a very challenging job. But God has said that ‘I’ll give you all the power necessary. You just continue to serve Me, everything I will provide.’ This way has worked for me and has woked for many thousands, hundreds of thousands, of other people who have sought God. So I am sure it works for everyone. And God has appeared to all of us alike. Sometimes Jesus also comes to us, sometimes Buddha comes, sometimes other Saints of the past also will grace our lives and instruct us about our daily problem, also our spiritual progress. Hes has blessed us in many, many ways, materially and spiritually, so that we can share what we have with whomever is in need. In our lives, we suffer so much because we have lost contact with the Supreme Power within ourselves, which is the Master of all beings, this God inside us. Because if we lose this contact with God, no matter how many possessions we have in this world, we’ll still never be completely happy.”

The Inner Path back to the Source: Selections from Dadu Dayal (vegetarian): The Compassionate Mystic, Part 1 of 2

The Inner Path back to the Source: Selections from Dadu Dayal (vegetarian): The Compassionate Mystic, Part 1 of 2

One such great spiritual teacher is Sant (Saint) Dadu Dayal from the same tradition as Saint Kabir. He lived during the 16th century. “Dadu” means brother and“Dayal”is “the Compassionate One.” Instead, he concentrated on Japa (repetition of Divine Names) as well as remembrance of the original divine source and his inner connection and whole-hearted devotion to God. The group of Dadu's followers are known as the Dadu Panth and refrain from alcohol and uphold vegetarianism. “The world is a river of suffering, And God is the Ocean of Bliss. Forsake the worthless and go To the Ocean of Bliss, says Dadu. Having no desire for name or fame, let one serve the Lord. Abandoning everything else, take the true Name alone, says Dadu. Kal (time) is a fabrication; never go near him. So long as the heart is set on the Lord, life in this world is well lived. Living without the Lord is useless, O Dadu. If the Lord is obtained, all is obtained. Meeting with the Lord means meeting with all. If the Lord is there, all is there, Otherwise all is naught.”

Selections from "The Pathway of Life" by Leo Tolstoy (vegetarian):Volume 2, The Ills of Life, Part 2 of 2

All that which we call ills, all sorrows – if we only understood them as we ought – improve our souls. The sufferings of irrational life lead us to acknowledge the need of rational life. Just as only the darkness of night reveals the heavenly lights, so only suffering reveals the true purpose of life. Great is God who enlightens us. Enlightens us with what? With the very sorrows from which we would flee and hide. In sorrow and suffering it is given to us to seek out the grains of wisdom that cannot be found in any book. If God gave us teachers of whom we knew for a certainty that they were sent of God Himself, we should obey them freely and gladly. But we have such instructors in necessity and in all the vicissitudes of life. Not only is every visitation of Providence profitable to every creature, but it is profitable at the very time when it is sent. The man who does not realize the beneficial nature of suffering has not commenced to live the life of reason, the true life. I pray God to free me from suffering which troubles me. But this suffering was sent to me by God to deliver me from evil.

The Inner Path back to the Source: Selections from Dadu Dayal (vegetarian): The Compassionate Mystic, Part 2 of 2

Devote yourself to God, O mind. Just as birds come to perch in a tree for the night, So is all this marker spread out for a while, All will then go their own way. None is your kith or companion; Lose not your source, O mind. Don’t get lost by looking at worldly things; They are all flowers of the silk-cotton tree. The body is not yours, wealth is not yours, Why are you absorbed in them? Why do you sleep in comfort without God? Why not wake up and see? Cautions Dadu. Repeat the Name of God and forget Him not, Fulfil the purpose of your birth by practicing concentration. Be steadfast in the remembrance of God, Practice meditation with love And sing the glory of God. The human body is the door to salvation. Repeat the name of God, the Creator of the universe. So long as a dreadful disease has not come, So long as death has not consumed your body, So long as the Sound has not been withdrawn, Render service to the Lord.

The Creation of Nurturers on Earth: Exploring Mayan Spirituality in the Sacred Book “Popol Vuh,” Part 1 of 2

The Creation of Nurturers on Earth: Exploring Mayan Spirituality in the Sacred Book “Popol Vuh,” Part 1 of 2

The ancient Mayan civilization, known to be one of the most technologically advanced of its time, inhabited regions of Central America and southern Mexico several thousand years ago. It is with great awe that we invite you to explore some of the most important and profound insights our ancestors wanted to communicate to us through "Popol Vuh," one of the most important Mayan holy books. "Popol Vuh," or "Council Book," was written by a group of Mayan writers between 1554-1558. It encompasses the story of physical creation, and the history of Mayan people who once lived on the land called Quiché, in the highlands of Guatemala. “The Gods created this world so that it could be nurtured and appreciated. So, humans, according to the Great Plan, have the honored role of caring guardians rather than so-called owners. In the first attempt of such a great plan, animals were created but the results were not successful. However, the attempt shows us the ideal attributes that the Divine Creators wanted us to have: communication and guidance from our Heavenly Home.”

From One Soul to Another, Part 2 of 3, May 15, 1999

“God is always there because God is the Supreme Master within ourselves, within each of us, and Hes knows everything, Hes hears all the prayers, and Hes grants all wishes. But we must know how to listen to Hirm, we must have the direct contact with Hirm so we know what Hes wants us to do. In order to contact this Holy Spirit within us or God within us, we have to forsake the flesh for the spirit, and I will show you how to do that while you are still living, when busying with the business of your daily lives. ‘Forsake the flesh for the spirit,’ as it says in the Bible, doesn’t mean that you leave everything and you don’t do anything,or you don’t eat or you don’t work. It’s just that you forsake it in a way that we will just go in the Kingdom of God with our own spirit while the body is still here.” “There is no way, no method at all, because God is always there. So, even when I talk a lot, a lot, and you think this is the way to God – no! When I show you the way to God, I don’t speak, I don’t do anything, because your soul is God, your soul will know what my soul tells you in silence.”

Tuning in to the Higher Frequency of Spiritual Wisdom: An Interview with Mr. James Bean (vegan), Part 1 of 5

Mr. James Bean of Maine USA launched spiritual Awakening Radio in September 1988 out of his pure love of the great Masters and Their teachings. The focus of Mr. Bean’s programs is to share, through radio and other media, a deeper understanding of spirituality for a more peaceful planet. He is also a mystic explorer of the inner Heavenly Light and Sound of God, and a devotee of the spiritual path from India known as Sant Mat. “Spiritual Awakening Radio was an idea that I had many years ago. I started collecting all of these wonderful writings of spiritual Masters: mystic poetry, Kabir, Guru Nanak, Dadu Dayal, all of these great Saints of the ages. And I just wanted to be able to share them on the radio.” “And I also collect books, I collect writings of Masters; it’s a way to travel time, to collect the poetry of Kabir, or some of these great Saints of the ages, Mahavira of Jainism, Buddha, Buddhist sutras, Gnostic Gospels, words of Masters and mystics. And so, I’ve just always been very fond of collecting those writings. And those provide the basis for many of my programs, that research that’s gone into the writings of all of these different saints. So, I just enjoy sharing that with other people that don’t have the time to sort through all of these writings, so, it’s a service I enjoy doing, to share this knowledge with other people out there.”

Selections from "The Pathway of Life" by Leo Tolstoy (vegetarian): Volume 2, The Ills of Life, Part 1 of 2

“Everyone thinks of changing the world but no one thinks of changing himself.” This insightful saying by Leo Tolstoy is a good reminder for all of us to reflect inward. Yearning for more than success, fame, and wealth, Leo Tolstoy eventually established himself as a moral philosopher and spiritual leader during the last 30 years of his life. We would like to share an insightful excerpt from Volume Ⅱ of "The Pathway of Life," a collection of Tolstoy's philosophies on religion, life, death and more. The Ills of Life "All that which infringes upon the happiness of our bodily life we call ills. And yet the whole of our life is a gradual process of delivering our soul from that which constitutes the happiness of our body. Therefore, for him who comprehends life as it really is there are no ills." Ⅰ.That Which We Call Suffering is a Necessary. Ⅱ.Sufferings Stimulate Man's Spiritual Life.

Selections from the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: Sixty Songs of Milarepa – Songs 11-13, Part 1 of 2

“When that time comes, what else can help but Holy Dharma? Though Dharma is the fount of victory. Those who aspire to it are rare. Scores of men are tangled in The miseries of Samsara (cycle of reincarnation); Into this misfortune born, They strive by plunder and theft for gain. He who talks on Dharma With elation is inspired, But when a task is set him, He is wrecked and lost. Dear patrons, do not talk too much, But practice the Holy Dharma.” “Do you not fear the miseries You experienced in the past? Surely you will feel much pain If misfortunes attack you? The woes of life succeed one another Like the sea’s incessant waves One has barely passed, before The next one takes its place. Until you are liberated, pain and pleasure come and go at random Like passersby encountered in the street. Pleasures are precarious, Like bathing in the sun; Transient, too, as snowstorms Which come without warning. Remembering these things, Why not practice the Dharma?”

From One Soul to Another: Questions and Answers, Part 3 of 3, May 15, 1999

“God has two attributes: form and formless. And even in the attribute of form, Hes has two forms. If Hes wants to materialize in this world, Hes becomes like this. All of these are God materializations. That’s why the Bible says, ‘God dwells within you.’ It’s really funny how you don’t know you are God. And there is another form, invisible form, that God manifests also when you meditate within, to communicate with you. That is a little higher level. In the highest level, God is formless: God is only bliss, light, happiness, indescribable ecstasy; indescribable. And when you see the invisible form inside of God, you already feel so ecstatic, you already lose yourself in Hirm; you don’t know what to do already. And if we come to the highest level, then we become one with God, like Jesus said, ‘I and my Father are one.’ And then, later you even have no more ‘I’ and no more ‘Father,’ but only Father, only God, and then everything you’ll say, ‘Not I do, but God does it. My Father does it.' To know God is very instantly; to get to the higher level or the highest level takes some more time. Because just like in the Bible, it says, ‘In my Father’s house, there are many mansions.’ That means many different attributes of God we must know, one by one.” “But God is above all that. God is all love, forgiving. God is always with us, wants to protect us, to give us all the happiness that we want. Just that we have to contact Hirm to receive it.”

Tuning in to the Higher Frequency of Spiritual Wisdom: An Interview with Mr. James Bean (vegan), Part 3 of 5

In an effort to inform people that veganism has always been a requirement for spiritual Truth seekers, Mr. James Bean compiled a booklet highlights lesser-known writings in Christian scriptures regarding dietary choices. “And so, when I came up with this booklet of vegetarian Christianity, making Christianity vegan, that’s based on years of research, finding all of these amazing vegetarian passages, and actually vegan, because there’s no reference to dairy products, either. It’s all plant-based references. And they can read up on the evidence for vegetarianism of Jesus, The Apostles, John the Baptist as well and later generations of Christians and Christian movements, Gnostic Gospels, of course the Essenes, the Essene teachings of Judaism. I’ve tried to put all of that together. It’s got all kinds of different sections to it: biblical vegetarianism, the vegetarianism of the Gnostics, vegetarianism of the Ebionites, which is just a fancy name for the Hebrew Christians or the original Jesus Movement of Israel.”

Selections from “Aphorisms II” – A Book by Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan), Part 2 of 2

“Get more enlightened and then you’ll be more loving. That’s the purpose of enlightenment. Enlightenment makes us more loving, more tolerant and more understanding. That’s the best outcome of spiritual cultivation.” “It’s not meditation that protects you. It’s the awakening of your own power within that protects you. It’s knowing that you’re God that protects you.” “The more people know God, the more people contact God directly and become happier, the more peaceful the world will be, the less war there will be, and the more we can bring Heaven onto Earth.” “Actually, everything takes care of itself in time. But meanwhile, we should try our best to make life better and always avoid violence. That’s the lesson of all the Shakyamuni Buddha stories – we have to surrender to God’s will and be tolerant and patient. When the time comes, everything will change.”

The Creation of Nurturers on Earth: Exploring Mayan Spirituality in the Sacred Book “Popol Vuh,” Part 2 of 2

“Popol Vuh” describes how humans were created from a mix of yellow and white corn. “They (the first four humans) were good people, handsome with looks of the male kind. Thoughts came into existence and they gazed; their vision came all at once. Perfectly they saw, perfectly then knew everything under the sky, whenever they looked. The moment they turned around and looked around in the sky, on the earth, everything was seen without any obstruction. They didn’t have to walk around before they could see what was under the sky; they just stayed where they were. …And they (the first four humans) saw everything under the sky perfectly. After that, they thanked the Maker, Modeler: ‘Truly now, double thanks, triple thanks that we’ve been formed, we’ve been given our mouths, our faces, we speak, we listen, we wonder, we move, our knowledge is good, we’ve understood what is far and near, and we’ve seen what is great and small under the sky, on the earth. Thanks to you we’ve been formed, we’ve come to be made and modeled, our grandmother, our grandfather…’”

From The Essene Humane Gospel of Christ: Peace and Safety for All God’s Creatures, Part 1 of 2

Lord Jesus Christ, also known as Lord Yeshua, was born into the Essenes Brotherhood, and the Essenes wrote detailed accounts about the Beloved Master’s life and teachings. One of these texts whose fragments have fortunately been preserved is called The Essene Humane Gospel of Christ. Today we’ll read a selection near the beginning of the Essene Humane Gospel of Christ. “And Joseph (Yeshua’s father) spoke these words: ‘Blessed be the True God of our fathers and our mothers in Israel, for in the acceptable time Thou hast surely heard my voice and in the day of salvation hast Thou always helped me. For did not Thou saith, “I will preserve Thy Holy seed and make with Thee a covenant of the people to renew the face of the Earth and return everything back to its root; and to cause the desolate places to be rescued from the very hands of those doing the spoiling.” For Thou hast promised to restore Eden over the face of the Earth and give peace and joy unto all the creatures. That Thou mayest say to the captives, “Go ye forth and be set free, even as ye were born free”; and to them that live in darkness, because of fear, Thou sayest, “Show yourselves in the light of day, and be ye not afraid anymore; for they, one and all, shall again feed in the ways of pleasantness only. For Thy people at that time SHALL NO MORE HUNT NOR WORRY THE CREATURES WITH FEAR OF HUNGER, FOR ALL SHALL BE FED AND SATISFIED, which I have made to rejoice before my eyes.”’”

From the Rosicrucian Order’s The Sanctuary of Self: on the Mystical Life, Part 1 of 3

The Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis, also known as the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, is a worldwide cultural, educational, and philosophical organization that is perpetuating profound and practical teachings of the Rosicrucians. These teachings, as passed down and added to over the centuries from ancient Egypt to Europe and now all over the world, pertain to the mysteries of the universe, nature, and humans themselves. Today we will explore the process that could lead us to the mystical life according to the Rosicrucian Order, in Chapter 1 of the book “The Sanctuary of Self” by the late Rosicrucian leader Ralph M. Lewis. Chapter I THE MYSTICAL LIFE. “The mystical life provides the reason why we live. The mystical life determines the cause of our individual lives and the use to which we should put our bodies and our animal vitality and magnetism. The mystical life, like the physical life, requires certain preparation. If we must study the rules of diet, if we must study hygiene, if we must know the rudiments of good health to be healthy and physically normal, certainly we should give some thought and consideration to the mystical side of our existence as well.”

Selections from The Astral City - Chapter 3: Collective Prayer

In “The Astral City,” former medical doctor André Luiz speaks from the afterlife of his awakening and healing within a spiritual society near the Earth’s surface. This story describes not only the continuation of life beyond the physical body, but more importantly how Heaven cares for each and every human soul. The following excerpt from “The Astral City” describes how André Luiz was strengthened spiritually upon his rescue from the Lower Zones. “I felt a profound sense of veneration and awe as I gazed at the soft light streaming through my window. I realized that on Earth I had never looked up at the Sun and raised my thoughts to the One, Who in His infinite mercy, had given it to us to shine on our journey. I was like a blind man who, after living so long in darkness, was blessed with the ability to see the splendor of nature. The first collective prayer I had attended at the Astral City had worked a radical change in me. An unexpected peace filled my soul for the first time in many years of suffering, and my heart, so long empty, was once again filled with hope.”

Excerpts from The Diamond Sutra: Chapters 1-11, Part 1 of 2

The Diamond Sutra is also known as “Chin-Kang-Ching” or in Sanskrit “Vajracchedika-sutra” (“Diamond Cutter Sutra”). It is one of the most important historical scriptures in the Buddhist faith. This suta presents a collection of question-answer dialogs between the Buddha and His assembly of monks. Written with a spiritual goal, the Diamond Sutra is meant to alleviate suffering through the achievement of Wisdom. “‘Subhuti, as you have said, the Tathagata is skillfully mindful of the Bodhisattvas, and skillful in entrusting to the Bodhisattvas. If you now listen closely, I shall explain for you in what good sons and good daughters launching the Anuttara-Samyak-Sambodhi mind should thus abide, and how thus they should regulate their thoughts.’ ‘Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva has the view of a self, the view of a person, the view of beings, or the view of a soul; then he is not a Budhisattva.’ ‘Subhuti, the blessed virtue of a Bodhisattva not dwelling in the appearances of charity is also, again, thus: it cannot be calculated. Subhuti, Bodhisattvas should only thus in this teaching dwell.’”

Tuning in to the Higher Frequency of Spiritual Wisdom: An Interview with Mr. James Bean (vegan), Part 4 of 5

In today’s program, Mr. James Bean talks about his lifelong mission and his vision for the future. “Vaganism, of course, has become an essential element, an essential message in recent years. So, as I’ve said to some people before, we’re advocating that everyone go vegan, and that’s our job for the rest of our life, I think. It’s with us, the issue of climate change and how veganism can help mitigate that. We’re just going to be trying to talk as many people into going vegan as we can. And that’s never going to change, no matter, 10 years from now. I mean, it’s just a permanent thing. A permanent, lifelong mission, I think not just me, but many people have these days. It’s a lifelong commitment to try to encourage people to go vegan in any way we can figure out, some angle, whether it’s these texts of Christianity. So that constant message of encouraging people to go vegan, whether it’s for health reasons, like (Dr.) Michael Greger is doing, for spiritual reasons, ethical reasons, or all of the above, or to save the Earth, to save the world, save the future, make the world a more peaceful place. So many good reasons to go vegan. It’s a win, win, win, win. That’s a lifelong mission.

Excerpts from The Sutra of Forty-two Chapters, Part 1 of 2 - Chapter 2 and Chapters 4 to 8

“The Sutra of Forty-two Chapters” is thought to be the first Buddhist sutra from India to be translated into Chinese. During the first century AD, His Majesty Emperor Ming of China one night dreamt of a “Golden Being” with light surrounding His body who flew into the palace. The next morning, His Mejesty Emperor Ming summoned all his ministers and high officials to find out who this “Golden Being” might be. One of his ministers told the emperor about a great spiritual Master named Buddha whose teachings originated in India. Realizing that this must be the “Golden Being” in his dream, the emperor asked that a delegation go to the region where the Buddha had lived. He instructed them to request Buddhist scriptures that could help enlighten the Chinese people. The delegates traveled to India, where they were able to obtain Sanskrit sutras. They also invited the Venerated Kasyapa Matanga and Dharmaraksha, whom they met during the trip, to return with them and assist in translation. We will now share with you some excerpts from “The Sutra of Forty-two Chapters,” as revealed by the Buddha. “Chapter 4: Concurrent Definitions of Good and Evil ‘The Buddha said, “Multibeings could perform Virtues in ten ways, and so could they perpetrate Vices in ten ways. What are these Ten Vices? There are three in the Body, four in the Mouth, and three in the Mind. The three Physical Vices are Killing, Stealing and Copulation. The four Oral Vices are Alienating Speeches, Scurrilous Words, Untruthful Language, and Meaningless Chatters. The three Mental Vices are Jealousy, Resentment, and Ignorance. These Ten Vices are against the Sacred Way, and so they are also called the Ten Vile Deeds. If these Vices are terminated, that will result in the Ten Virtues.”’”
