An Experience in Cosmic Consciousness: Selections from Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, Part 1 of 2

Since its first publication in 1944, the book “Autobiography of a Yogi” has inspired countless Truth seekers around the world. In particular, it was through this book, originally written in English, that many Westerners were introduced to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga. The autobiography contains the exceptional life story of the renowned Indian yogi and enlightened Master Paramahansa Yogananda, who was born in 1893. “What one does not trouble to find within will not be discovered by transporting the body hither and yon. As soon as the devotee is willing to go even to the ends of the earth for spiritual enlightenment, his guru appears nearby.” “An oceanic joy broke upon calm endless shores of my soul. The Spirit of God, I realized, is exhaustless Bliss; His body is countless tissues of light.”

It's Not Too Late to Get Enlightenment, Questions and Answers, Part 4 of 5 Nov 26, 1994, Thailand

Because the real transmission doesn’t need language - and then you will be awakened. Your spiritual wisdom opens and you might see the (inner Heavenly) Light and hear the Self-Nature. Like the Buddha said, “Listen inward, listen to your Self-Nature.” Or, like in the Bible, it says, “the Word of God.” These Lights from Heaven or from Buddha’s Land and the melodious teaching from Heaven or from Buddha’s Land, it is our own Self-Nature, and that will make us wiser and freer each day. And then, more and more we will rely on our Self-Nature and our Self Master inside, and the outside Master is only standing by and helping.

An Experience in Cosmic Consciousness: Selections from Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, Part 2 of 2

"The cosmic vision left many permanent lessons. By daily stilling my thoughts, I could win release from the delusive conviction that my body was a mass of flesh and bones, traversing the hard soil of matter. The breath and the restless mind, I saw, were like storms which lashed the ocean of light into waves of material forms - earth, sky, human beings, animals, birds, trees. No perception of the Infinite as One Light could be had except by calming those storms. As often as I silenced the two natural tumults, I beheld the multitudinous waves of creation melt into one lucent sea, even as the waves of the ocean, their tempests subsiding, serenely dissolve into unity." "For months I entered the ecstatic union, comprehending why the Upanishads (Vedic scriptures) say 'God is rasa,' 'the most relishable.'"

Selection from the Holy Kitab-I-Aqdas of the Baha'i Faith: Paragraphs 112-150, Part 2 of 2

Let none, in this Day, hold fast to anything save that which hath been manifested in this Revelation. Such is the admonition of the Lord, before and hereafter—an admonition. Naught shall avail you in this Day but God, nor is there any refuge to flee to save Him. Wish not for others what ye wish not for yourselves. “Lay not upon your souls that which will weary them and weigh them down, but rather what will lighten and uplift them, so that they may soar on the wings on the Divine verses towards the Dawning-place of His manifest signs; this will draw you nearer to God, did ye but comprehend.”

Upgrade Yourself into a Very Noble, Selfless Being, P 1/2

Upgrade Yourself into a Very Noble, Selfless Being, P 1/2

You have to train to be first good and able, so that maybe one day we can help someone else. Don’t always sit there like a baby waiting for mama. Even if you have been spoiled, you have to prepare to upgrade yourself into a very, very noble being. Self-sacrifice being. But I don’t ask you to do anything drastic. Self-sacrificing talking about that is a laughable thing. This is too weak for the word. I mean you have to also try to adjust to the situation. Try to help others instead.

Leading All to Be Vegan Will Bring Immense Merits part 1 (1/2)

There is a temple called Sunshine Monastery. “They worship Padmasambhava. So after they learned Master’s teachings, they all became vegetarian. The abbot told all of them to be vegetarian and stop wearing fur clothes. The animal leather and fur. And then they don’t smoke anymore, don’t drink anymore, and don’t hunt anymore.” If any leader is a vegetarian, they should be open about it and encourage everyone to be vegetarian, too. This way they will earn immense merits, and they can also protect this planet so that their own relatives, friends, and children can continue to live on this planet in a clean atmosphere. We don’t leave the Earth populated and full of toxic air for our children. The more good deeds we do, the more meritorious deeds we do, the longer the merits will last. If we do bad things, the merits will be lessened and shortened.

Selection from the Holy Kitab-I-Aqdas of the Baha'i Faith: Paragraphs 112-150, Part 1 of 2

Say: Blessed is he who, at the hour of dawn, centering his thoughts on God, occupied with His remembrance, and supplicating His forgiveness, directeth his steps to the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár, and entering therein, seateth himself silence to listen to the verses of God, the Sovereign, the Mighty, the All-Praised. These verses draw hearts that are pure unto those spiritual worlds that can neither be expressed in words nor intimated by allusion. The liberty that profiteth you is to be found nowhere except in complete servitude unto God, the Eternal Truth.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 2 of 4

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” –Genesis. Actually the Bible is very clear about being vegetarian. If you read the first verses in the Bible, in Genesis Chapter 1:29, God says that He created us. As a Creator, as a Designer, He knows very well what we need… We have a lot of examples of very religious people in the Bible that have been vegetarian. All through the centuries, but also in the Bible, Daniel, John the Baptist and other people that were vegetarian, and those were special people.

“The Three Questions” - An Inspirational Short Story by Leo Tolstoy, Part 2 of 2

The king was happy to be so easily reconciled with his enemy, and he not only forgave him but promised to return his property and send his own physician and servants to attend him. “Remember then: there is only one important time – now. And it is important because it is the only time we have dominion over ourselves; and the most important man is he with whom you are, for no one can know whether or not he will ever have dealings with any other man; and the most important pursuit is to do good to him, since it is for that purpose alone that man was sent into this life.”

Supreme Master Ching Hai's Book ”Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Pages 174-199, Part 1 of 2

As long as we’re in the material world, every material thing affects us. That’s why we must take care to eat pure foods, foods that have less karmic burden, that have less suffering for our own sake. There are differences between people, not only between Master and disciples. Therefore, I’ve taught you to be frugal, not to be greedy and exceed your share. Do not spend more than you have. When it’s necessary, you can take and use. When it’s not, try not to. Otherwise we might get in trouble. Sometimes we might get sick, or get an incurable disease.

Song of Realization by Tsongkhapa, Part 1 of 2

The venerated enlightened Master Tsongkhapa was a religious philosopher and the founder of the Gelug School, meaning the Virtuous Order. Master Tsongkhapa studied the scriptures very thoroughly. After a long period of diligent learning, He wrote many famous works and was determined to revive the original goals and disciplines of Tibetan Buddhism. Strictly emphasizing a pure moral conduct for His disciples, Master Tsongkhapa stated that monks should refrain from killing life and drinking wine. Today we would like to share with you excerpts from "Song of Realization," an autobiography by the Venerated Master Tsongkhapa describing His own spiritual studies and practice. "When one's efforts still are slight, It is said to be best to congratulate others' virtues. In order to gather the momentous stores (of merit and wisdom). And one feels an even greater joy, especially, When free of claims to one's own past virtues, Thinking ‘increase past virtues ever more,’ In order to live up to the impact of the Victor's teaching, Also seeing many other dire necessities - It is excellent, O my mind, When you feel such joy!"

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 1 of 4

According to Buddhism, sentient beings are subject to rebirth as other sentient beings, thus all living beings are interconnected. Shakyamuni Buddha preached vegetarianism an important and key component in being compassionate. The Buddha states in the Mahayana Mahaparinirvana Sutra, that “the eating of meat extinguishes the seed of great compassion”, adding that all and every kind of meat and fish consumption, even of animals already found dead, is prohibited. “Ananda, if living beings in the six worlds of existence cease to kill they will not be subject to the continual round of births and deaths.”

From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3, May 15, 1999

From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3, May 15, 1999

We now invite you to listen to Supreme Master Ching Hai’s insightful lecture titled “From One Soul to Another, Part 1 of 3” delivered in Yerevan, Armenia on May 15, 1999. “It has been a very challenging job. But God has said that ‘I’ll give you all the power necessary. You just continue to serve Me, everything I will provide.’ This way has worked for me and has woked for many thousands, hundreds of thousands, of other people who have sought God. So I am sure it works for everyone. And God has appeared to all of us alike. Sometimes Jesus also comes to us, sometimes Buddha comes, sometimes other Saints of the past also will grace our lives and instruct us about our daily problem, also our spiritual progress. Hes has blessed us in many, many ways, materially and spiritually, so that we can share what we have with whomever is in need. In our lives, we suffer so much because we have lost contact with the Supreme Power within ourselves, which is the Master of all beings, this God inside us. Because if we lose this contact with God, no matter how many possessions we have in this world, we’ll still never be completely happy.”

Always try to stay positive. Say positive things and do positive things as much as you can. Protect yourself, and then you create a wonderful house, a movable house, so that everywhere you go, you take Light, good energy, good vibrations. When we’re in the “winter of spiritual cultivation,” even if we make mistakes, regress in our practice, or lose faith, we should just forgive ourselves. If possible, we should quickly get some “tonics”! For example, we can attend retreats, go to see Master and meet initiates more often, go to group meditation more, read more of Master’s books or listen to Her tapes and so on.

Whatever We Assimilate Inside Is Translated Outsidee: Part 1 (1/2) July 30-31, 2013

From the Heaven, if we see this world, it’s chaotic, dirty, filthy, energy is so bad, so suffocating, and so confining. Once the body already captured the soul, it’s difficult for them to remember God or see Master inside or outside. Yeah! It’s a sad thing. Whatever you assimilate inside, even though invisibly and you might not notice it, but it’s translated outside. Don’t worry. You must have progressed in order to see the world in different angles and a more peaceful way and more loving way. It’s translated out.

Create a Permanent Heaven for Yourself and Later Generations , Part 1 of 4 March 3, 1992 , Singapore

We should generate always goodness, in thoughts, in deeds, and in speech in order to derive the goodness that we have sown. And the more we step into goodness, the nearer to goodness, the more we are merged into this Heavenly quality, the more we are near to Heaven. I think we can take the opportunity of our civilized communication system to broadcast what we know, to each other, in order to profit each other, in order to elevate our Earth’s mental consciousness into a higher level of understanding, in order to make our Earth into a Heaven. We have no need to immigrate into another planet or to Nirvana (the highest paradise) if we make our world become a paradise.

The Inner Path back to the Source: Selections from Dadu Dayal (vegetarian): The Compassionate Mystic, Part 1 of 2

The Inner Path back to the Source: Selections from Dadu Dayal (vegetarian): The Compassionate Mystic, Part 1 of 2

One such great spiritual teacher is Sant (Saint) Dadu Dayal from the same tradition as Saint Kabir. He lived during the 16th century. “Dadu” means brother and“Dayal”is “the Compassionate One.” Instead, he concentrated on Japa (repetition of Divine Names) as well as remembrance of the original divine source and his inner connection and whole-hearted devotion to God. The group of Dadu's followers are known as the Dadu Panth and refrain from alcohol and uphold vegetarianism. “The world is a river of suffering, And God is the Ocean of Bliss. Forsake the worthless and go To the Ocean of Bliss, says Dadu. Having no desire for name or fame, let one serve the Lord. Abandoning everything else, take the true Name alone, says Dadu. Kal (time) is a fabrication; never go near him. So long as the heart is set on the Lord, life in this world is well lived. Living without the Lord is useless, O Dadu. If the Lord is obtained, all is obtained. Meeting with the Lord means meeting with all. If the Lord is there, all is there, Otherwise all is naught.”

Excerpts from Baba Sawan Singh Ji's Letters, Part 1 of 2

Baba Sawan Singh Ji, also known as “The Great Master”, was an Indian Saint and enlightened Master. Our chief aim should be to unite with our Creator. All saints are Sons of God; their mission is to make others the Sons of God; their method is the Word- sound current. This current connects the individual with its Source. The Word gives out both Light and Sound. There is no power on earth or heaven greater than the power of sound current. Provided this time is given with love and devotion. The will power becomes strong by repetition and concentration, and spiritual force is created, which awakens love and faith within.

Poems by Rumi: ”Here I Am” and ”Tales of the Reed Pipe”

The lament of the reed-flute is a symbol of the soul’s sorrow at being parted from the Diving Beloved. Listen to this reed, how it makes complaint, telling a tale of separation; I want a breast torn asunder by severance, so that I may fully declare the agony of yearning. Everyone who is sundered far from his origin longs to recapture the time when he was reunited with it. In every company I have poured forth my lament, I have consorted alike with the miserable and the happy. My secret indeed is not remote from my lament, but eye and ear lack the light to perceive it. Only the senseless is intimate with the mysteries of this Sense.

Selections from "The Pathway of Life" by Leo Tolstoy (vegetarian):Volume 2, The Ills of Life, Part 2 of 2

00:15:35

Selections from "The Pathway of Life" by Leo Tolstoy (vegetarian):Volume 2, The Ills of Life, Part 2 of 2

All that which we call ills, all sorrows – if we only understood them as we ought – improve our souls. The sufferings of irrational life lead us to acknowledge the need of rational life. Just as only the darkness of night reveals the heavenly lights, so only suffering reveals the true purpose of life. Great is God who enlightens us. Enlightens us with what? With the very sorrows from which we would flee and hide. In sorrow and suffering it is given to us to seek out the grains of wisdom that cannot be found in any book. If God gave us teachers of whom we knew for a certainty that they were sent of God Himself, we should obey them freely and gladly. But we have such instructors in necessity and in all the vicissitudes of life. Not only is every visitation of Providence profitable to every creature, but it is profitable at the very time when it is sent. The man who does not realize the beneficial nature of suffering has not commenced to live the life of reason, the true life. I pray God to free me from suffering which troubles me. But this suffering was sent to me by God to deliver me from evil.
