Friendship, mercy, gladness, indifference, being thought of in regard to subjects, happy, unhappy, good and evil respectively, pacify the Chitta. By throwing out and restraining the Breath. Those forms of concentration that bring extraordinary sense perceptions cause perseverance of the mind. Or(be the meditation on) the Effulgent One which is beyond all sorrow. Or(by meditation on) the heart that has given up all attachment to sense objects. Or by meditating on the knowledge that comes in sleep.

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Part 2 of 2

Allah is the Lord of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness and into light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are the evil ones; they bring them out of light and into darkness-these are the inmates of the Fire, in which they will abide forever. The parable of those who spend their wealth in Allah's way is that of a grain that produces seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. Allah multiplies for whom He wills. Allah is Bounteous and knowing. Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah, and then do not follow up what they spent with reminders of their generosity or with insults, will have their reward with their Lord-they have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.

Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 2, Surah Al-Baqarah, Part 1 of 2

O people! Worship your Lord who created you and those before you, that you may attain piety. He who made the earth a habitat for you, and the sky a structure, and sends water down from the sky, and brings out fruits thereby, as a sustenance for you. Therefore, do not assign rivals to Allah while you know. And give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds; that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with fruit therefrom as sustenance, they will say, “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given the like of it.

Give thanks to Yahweh! For He is good, For His loving kindness endures forever. Call on His name! Make His doings known among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him! Tell of all His marvelous works. Glory in His holy Names. Let the heart of those who seek His favor rejoice. Seek Yahweh and His strength. Seek His face forever more. Remember His marvelous works that He has done; His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, you offspring of Abraham, His servants, you children of Jacob, His chosen one. For He is Yahweh. His judgments are in all the earth.

Selection from the Dead Sea Scrolls’ Psalms, Part 1 of 2

Your holy spirit illuminates the dark places of the heart of Your servant, with light like the Sun. Only Your truth shines, and those who love it are wise and walk in the glow of Your light. Your light is everlasting. My eyes will be on the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me. Yahweh, how many are Your works! In wisdom have You made them all. The earth is full of Your riches. For He will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save Him from those who judge His soul. Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever.

Exploring the World Beyond: An Interview with Spiritual Master Brahmarishi Mohanji, Part 2 of 2

So, samadhi is the state of stillness. So the state of stillness is a state of Shiva. Kailash is stillness. You are everything; you depend on nothing. Somebody who is not controlled by the mind is a master. So a master is a master over the mind. He is not controlled by the mind. Once you reach that state, the only message to the world is : remain in peace, remain in harmony, remain in love. Because all the emotions like waves, are coming out of the mind, or coming through the mind. But you are not the mind. You are the ocean of peace. And there is no difference between any beings of the world.

Doing GOoD is the Ultimate: Overview of Judaism with Ravi Avi, PhD, Part 3 of 3

G-D is King for all generations. G-D is King for all people. And what is this G-D, of whom we can say all these things? G-D is all that is good. We are the ones to put into the reality of daily life that for which G-D has created the potential. That is what very much G-D is. G-D is the potential for all that is good. It is all there for us. We need to be honest with each other. We need to be honest with ourselves. We need to be honest with G-D. We have responsibility to the world around us. It is up to each of us to do our part.

Doing GOoD is the Ultimate: Overview of Judaism with Ravi Avi, PhD, Part 2 of 3

As parents, many of you for years have been telling your children: “Don’t drink. But if you’re going to drink, then at least don’t drink and drive.” While you do not want your child to drink in the first place, if your child’s not going to follow your ideal rules, then you might likely put some next-level boundaries forth. “That is like the rules of kashrut. The Torah gives us rules for slaughtering animals, not because we are ever being told to slaughter animals, but because we are being told how to slaughter them in case we actually decide to do that.” Being vegan, is authentically the ideal.

Doing GOoD is the Ultimate: Overview of Judaism with Ravi Avi, PhD, Part 1 of 3

Judaism was the planet’s first monotheistic religion. The history, lessons, and laws of Judaism are written in the historic scroll called the Torah. The Torah is also known as the Five Books of Moses as well as the Chumash or even the Pentateuch. This great scroll, as the name indicates, is made of five books. The first book is Bresheit, known as Genesis in English. The second book is Shemot, known as Exodus in English. The third book is Vayicra, also known as Leviticus. The fourth book is Bamidbar, also known as Numbers, and the fifth book is Devarim, also known as Deuteronomy.

The Enlightened Master is Beyond All Religions, Part 3 of 3 April 16, 1994, Seoul, Korea

The Buddha stands in between, in the middle of the good and the bad. The world’s people choose to do good things, their lives are good, happy. In the middle. No doing bad things and in spiritual. And when a sincere person, he recognize this teacher is good, he will know. Not because of what the Master looks like or what the Master talks; but your feeling, your wisdom inside. Yes. The Buddha nature will let them know. Because they are the Buddha. The seekers are the Buddha.

So, the dead person is the one who wears a kind of transparent clothes. Transparent means, because it’s invisible to our physical eyes. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a figure, a being. So,the Quan Yin Bodhisattva will help both. Because, to the Buddha or the Bodhisattva, there is no discrimination between the dead or the living. It depends whether they have affinity with Quan Yin Bodhisattva. But to have the living, is better than to have the dead being. Because in the physical body, we can change the future better. We have the instrument like the brain. For the person outside the car, it’s difficult. Understand?

All go to the soul. What’s important is the Master. Whenever you remember the Master, He will send, if the Master is a very highly developed person, highly realized person, He can send energy, to help you to meditate. If we know the human brain completely (How to work). Then we can discover also spiritual aspect.(Yes.) There is something that makes the brain function. And that something is what the Buddhists call Buddha Nature. It’s not the physical brain really. It is something hidden within the physical apparatus.

From The Memorable Thoughts of Socrates: On Justice, Part 2 of 2

When you blame those who obey the laws, because they are subject to be repealed, you do the same thing as if you laughed at your enemies for keeping themselves in a good posture of defense during the war, because you might tell them that the peace will one day be made: and thus you would condemn those who generously expose their lives for the service of their country. In our private capacity, likewise, how advantageous is it to obey the laws? By what means can we more certainly avoid punishments, and deserve rewards? What more prudent conduct can we observe, always to gain our lawsuits, and never to be cast! And now, having shown you that the observance of the laws is the same thing with justice.

“The laws," answered Hippias, "are what the citizens have ordained by a universal consent." "Then," inferred Socrates, "he who lives conformably to those ordinances observes the laws; and he who acts contrary to them is a transgressor of the laws." "You say true." "Is it not likewise true," continued Socrates, "that he who obeys these ordinances does justly, and that he obeys them not does unjustly?" "Yes." "But," said Socrates, "he who acts justly is just, and he who acts unjustly is unjust?" "Without doubt." "Therefore," said Socrates, "whosoever observes the laws is just, and whosoever observes them not is unjust."

From Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra, Book II: Lectures 8 & 10, Part 2 of 2

Thus the soul which suffers for its carelessness, is driven about in the Samsara (migration and transmigration) by its good and bad Karman. Though he may possess all five organs of sense, still it is a rare chance to be instructed in the best Law; Though he may have been instructed in the right Law, still it is a rare chance to believe in it; Though one believes in the Law, he will rarely practice it. When your body grows old, and your hair turns white, all your powers decrease. Despondency, the king’s evil, your body wastes and decays; Cast aside from you all attachments, Going through the same religious practices as perfedted saimts, you will reach the world of perfection. Having heard the Buddha’s well-delivered sermon, adorned by illustrations, Gautama cut off love and hatred and reached perfection.

Quitting your former connections place your affection on nothing; a monk who loves not even those who love him, will be freed from sin and hatred. Then the best of safes, who is exempt from delusion and possesses perfect knowledge and faith, speaks for the benefit and eternal welfare, and for the final liberation of all beings. All fetters of the soul, and all hated, everything of this kind, should a monk cast aside; he should not be attached to any pleasures, examining them well and talking care himself. An ignorant sinner who never fixes his thoughts on the soul’s benefit and eternal welfare, but sinks down through hatred and the temptation of lust, will be ensnared.

Writings of Bahá’u’lláh: The Seven Valleys, Part 2 of 8

Baha’i principles envision an ideal society. These principles are gender equality; elimination of all forms of prejudice whether religious, racial, class, or national; harmony of religion and science; universal opportunity of education for all; a universal auxiliary language, which all humanity can use to cooperate quickly with one another; a judicious world government; and the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty. The Baha’i followers, see a noble society as a real goal to be pursued in everyday life. Today we present a selection from “The Seven Valleys,” which was written in Baghdad after Baha’u’llah returned from Kurdistan in 1856.
