Selection from the Holy Qur’an: Chapter 12 Yusuf (Joseph), Part 1 of 2

The gentle Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him was a beloved teacher who led by His own shining example. His noble teachings live on in the hearts of people today, inspiring them to a peaceful path to find their Most High. The story of Joseph in the Holy Qur’an, a continuous narrative, is considered one of the most beautifully written suras. There are fewer than one hundred verses but they encompass many years and present an amazing variety of sciences and characters in a tightly-knit plot, and offer a dramatic illustration of some of the fundamental themes of the Holy Qur’an.

Selection from the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch: Chapter 1, Part 2 of 2

Venerated Buddhist Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, is a legendary figure in the early history of Chinese Zen Buddhism. He is regarded as the founder of the “Sudden Enlightenment” Southern Zen school of Buddhism. The Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch is a record of both Buddhist Master Huineng’s life and teachings. “Supreme Bodhi must be obtained at the very moment of speaking. In recognizing the original mind, at all times, in every thought, you yourself will see that the ten thousand Dharmas are unblocked; in one truth is all truth and the ten thousand states are of themselves ‘thus,’ as they are. The ‘thusness’ of the mind, just that is true reality.”

Selection from the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch: Chapter 1, Part 1 of 2

Venerated Buddhist Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, is a legendary figure in the early history of Chinese Zen Buddhism. An illiterate peasant who made a living collecting and selling firewood, it is believed that one day, upon hearing a passage uttered from the Diamond Sutra, he immediately understood the true meaning of the passage and experienced an awakening of the Truth. Master Huineng demonstrated his understanding of the Buddha’s teachings to the fifth patriarch, Daman Hongren, despite his lack of any formal training. As a result, he was chosen as the true successor or the Sixth Patriarch. Master Huineng spent a further 15 years in contemplative practice before he began teaching as the Sixth Patriarch of Zen.

The Baha’i Faith’s “Gems of Divine Mysteries”: Paragraphs 14-22

Should there be ignited in thy heart the burning brand of the love of God, thou wouldst seek neither rest nor composure, neither laughter nor repose, but wouldst hasten to scale the highest summits in the realms of divine nearness, sanctity, and beauty. Then it behoveth thine eminence to inquire into these and other questions pertaining to thine origin and ultimate goal from those whom God hath made to be the Wellspring of His knowledge, the Heaven of His wisdom, and the Ark of His mysteries. Whosoever entereth this city will comprehend every science before probing into its mysteries and will acquire from the leaves of its trees a knowledge and wisdom encompassing such mysteries of divine lordship as are enshrined within the treasuries of creation.

The Baha’i Faith’s “Gems of Divine Mysteries”: Paragraphs 1-13

The essence of the divine mysteries in the journeys of ascent set forth for those who long to draw night unto God, the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving-blessed be the righteous that quaff from these crystal streams! Thine epistle was received, thy question was noted, and the sweet accents of thy soul were heard from the inmost chambers of thy heart. Whereupon the clouds of the Divine Will were raised to rain upon thee the outpourings of heavenly wisdom, to divest thee of all that thou hadst acquired aforetime, to draw thee from the realms of contradiction unto the retreats of oneness, and to lead thee to the sacred streams of His Law.

Lord Krishna - God of Compassion and Love: An Interview with Reverend Hindu Priest Deepak Subedi, Part 2 of 2

Lord Krishna explains it through this verse: “Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.”“Be steadfast in yoga, O Arjuna. Perform your duty and abandon all attachment to success or failure.”It has a simple meaning - do your duties while always being in connection with Almighty God, without being distracted. And do not distract your mind. Always be connected with God. Always perform your duties but be connected with Almighty at the same time. If you could do that while doing your duties, it will bring you great satisfaction.

Lord Krishna - God of Compassion and Love: An Interview with Reverend Hindu Priest Deepak Subedi, Part 1 of 2

The first thing in the teachings of Lord Krishna or the message of the Lord Krishna, the teaching which he has delivered to us is actually the teachings of self-realization. Self-realization is so blissful. Only after attaining the self-realization we start to realize the true significance of our life. We also have a soul within us, or the wisdom, which is non-perishable. And it never changes. When we attain self-realization, then you can raise yourself above from the physical attachments, you get free from the effects of the three virtues and conceptions about good and bad. Then you don’t identify yourself with those virtues anymore and become free from its effects.

“Righteous Father, though the world I know You, and they know that You have sent me. The Empty Tomb. Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene. Jesus Appears to His Disciples. Jesus came and said, “Peace be with you!” Jesus Appears to Thomas. Rising in the Holy Father’s Love and Reaching to the Faithful: From the Holy Bible, John’s Gospel – Excerpts from Chapters 15-20, Part 1 of 2

I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name, the name You gave me, so that they may be one as We are one.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 4 of 4

“All creatures are like a family of God: and He loves the most those who are the most beneficent to His family.” “All men have a mind which cannot bear to see the sufferings of others. So is the superior man affected towards animals that having seen them alive he cannot bear to see them die; having heard their dying cried, he cannot bear to eat their flesh”. Our Guru, our Spiritual Guide, only stands by us if we do not eat any meat or dead bodies. This world belongs to everyone, including the animals. That’s why we follow a vegetarian (vegan) policy. That’s why we shouldn’t kill animals, shouldn’t eat them, and especially shouldn’t kill any other beings.”

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 3 of 4

In today's episode, we will discuss about the veg concept in Hinduism, Judaism and Jainism. In Hinduism, nature is sacred and all beings are equal. Many Hindus treat vegetarianism as a daily sadhana or spiritual practice. Vegetarianism has a strong tradition in Judaism, as the original design for the Garden of Eden. Jainism also emphasizes the practice of ahimsa (non-violence) , and teaches us to look upon all beings as we would upon our own selves, thus inflicting injury to them is inflicting injury to our own selves.

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” –Genesis. Actually the Bible is very clear about being vegetarian. If you read the first verses in the Bible, in Genesis Chapter 1:29, God says that He created us. As a Creator, as a Designer, He knows very well what we need… We have a lot of examples of very religious people in the Bible that have been vegetarian. All through the centuries, but also in the Bible, Daniel, John the Baptist and other people that were vegetarian, and those were special people.

The Peaceful Veg Diet - A Common Thread Amongst All Enlightened Masters, Part 1 of 4

According to Buddhism, sentient beings are subject to rebirth as other sentient beings, thus all living beings are interconnected. Shakyamuni Buddha preached vegetarianism an important and key component in being compassionate. The Buddha states in the Mahayana Mahaparinirvana Sutra, that “the eating of meat extinguishes the seed of great compassion”, adding that all and every kind of meat and fish consumption, even of animals already found dead, is prohibited. “Ananda, if living beings in the six worlds of existence cease to kill they will not be subject to the continual round of births and deaths.”

In Silence We Know God, Part 2 of 2, May 5,1999

All the religious scriptures told us that God is within ourselves. That means we are God. That means we are one with God. Or okay, at least the children of God, offspring from the Most High, the Most Powerful, the Almighty, the All Knowing, the All Seeing, the All Having, the All Powerful. Not by bowing to Hirm one hundred times a day, not by fasting, not by talking loud to Hirm, but by proving that Hes is glorious, by proving to be successful in our spiritual life as well as material life, we glorify our Father; we prove Hes exists. Until one day, we completely remember who we are, and then we can declare like Lord Jesus has declared, "I and my Father are one."

In Silence We Know God, Part 1 of 2, May 5,1999

I know you all have many questions concerning whether God exists, whether we can reach Hirm, whether we can talk to Hirm, whether we can directly demand something from Hirm, so I am going to try to tell you as much as I can, as much as I know about our Father, which many of us have forgotten. How much do we have to work in order to be successful in God's realization, in gaining back the whole kingdom of the universe for ourselves? Almost nothing. No pay, no conditions, no effort, no binding. Nothing! Because we are the children of God.

Essenes: Through Purity May We Reach God

The Essenes were peaceful people. All members regarded and assisted one another as equals. They lived communally, sharing all things. In this way, all their needs were easily met. The Essenes ascribed all things to God. Their deep understanding that they were eternal souls and were only on Earth for a short time. This understanding made them very cautious about doing anything. Their physical purity, attained primarily from the simplicity of their vegetarian diet, allowed many of them to live over a hundred years. Death, however, was something they never feared, since, having pursued the spiritual path with great determination, they could expect to enjoy in the endless bliss of Heavenly realms.

Excerpts from Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s Letters, Part 2 of 2

Spiritual progress primarily depends on the training of the mind. The withdrawal of the s It (Sant Mat) is a liberal system and does not stifle opinion or insist on blind belief. Masters in the flesh are rare. They are superior beings and have fully developed their latent powers. A Guru gives salvation only when alive. The sound current and the Master are within you. Animal food, even if a single particle is eaten, is detrimental to spiritual progress. The master showered his grace when he initiated you. Now your duty is to practice concentration and go up. Then love will come automatically.cattered attention into the eye center requires patience, perseverance, and faith.

Excerpts from Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s Letters, Part 1 of 2

Baba Sawan Singh Ji, also known as “The Great Master”, was an Indian Saint and enlightened Master. Our chief aim should be to unite with our Creator. All saints are Sons of God; their mission is to make others the Sons of God; their method is the Word- sound current. This current connects the individual with its Source. The Word gives out both Light and Sound. There is no power on earth or heaven greater than the power of sound current. Provided this time is given with love and devotion. The will power becomes strong by repetition and concentration, and spiritual force is created, which awakens love and faith within.

From Mohism’s Book of Mozi: Book 4 – Universal Love, Part 2 of 2

Mozi said: It is to regard the state of others as one’s own, the house of others as one’s own, the persons of others as one’s self. When feudal lords love one another there will be no more war; when heads of houses love one another there will be no more mutual usurpation; when individuals love one another there will be no more injury. When ruler and ruled love each other there will be gracious and loyal; when father and son love each other there will be affectionate and filial. And it is all due to mutual love that calamities are prevented from arising.
