United States study demonstrates COVID vaccines becoming less effective with Delta variant’s spread

United States study shows COVID-19 vaccines lost effectiveness due to Deltastrain. Researchers from the PublicHealth Institute in Oakland, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco, and the University of Texas Health Science Center recently conducted a study onthe effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines over time in a population of 800,000 USveterans and found that their ability to protect against the infection haddeclined.Specifically in the participants over the age of 65, theeffectiveness was reduced from 89% to 58% with the Moderna inoculation, from87% to 45% with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and from 86% down to just 13% forthe Johnson & Johnson’s product.Protection against the likelihood of deathfor this particular age group was also reduced, ranging between 52% with theJohnson & Johnson’s vaccine and 76% with the Moderna compared to not beingvaccinated at all.Our appreciation, researchers, for helping to highlight theincreasing ineffectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines, so that people can makeinformed decisions about wearing masks and protecting themselves in other ways. Research calls for drastic climate action to protect children’s rights

A recent study published bythe nongovernmental organization Save the Children International warns that ifcountries only follow the original Paris Agreement pledges, global temperatureswill still rise by an estimated 2.6 to 3.1 degrees Celsius above pre-industriallevels.This increase will lead to those born in 2020 facing significantly moreextreme climate-related events than people born in 1960. On average, the younggeneration will face twice as many wildfires, 2.8 times more crop failures, 2.6times more droughts, 2.8 times as many river floods, and 6.8 times moreheatwaves than their grandparents.Sadly, those living in lower- andmiddle-income countries, as well as disadvantaged communities, will bear themajority of losses and damage in the areas of health, education, and housing. To secure children’s rights to a safe future, the publication calls for“ambitious and urgent” action to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Research shows emissions of animal-based foods twice that of plant-based foods

Anew study concludes that of the 17.3 billion metric tonnes of annual greenhousegases emitted from global food production, 57% is attributed to the meat, eggand dairy industries, which is nearly double compared to the 29% contributionof plant-based food cultivation.According to the analysis, the high emissionsfrom animal livestock raising are mainly due to land use for feed productionand grazing, methane pollution from enteric fermentation of ruminant animals, manure management and deforestation. In particular, the beef and cow milksectors contribute the most to the total animal-based food emissions.Thepaper’s lead author, Dr. Atul Jain, an atmospheric sciences professor at theUnited States-based University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, said, “I’m astrict vegetarian… if people are concerned about climate change, they shouldseriously consider changing their dietary habits.”Our gratitude for the valuablestudy, Dr. Atul Jain and all scientists involved.
