Supreme Master Ching Hai's Diary: The Living Masters Can Liberate All redeemable Souls, Part 2 of 4 May 5, 2019

Why did the devas, the heavenly beings, praise Shakyamuni Buddha as having rescued numerous beings, rescued the world? How? Why? When the Buddha is in the world, because the physical body is connected with all beings in the physical realms, you are connected together in this physical dimension, one way or another. And then you take food from this world and you breathe the same air with everyone else, and you drink water from the world, and many other things. Every little thing connects the Buddha with this world. So, He can use that to connect with people and help them to liberate. That’s why. Because the Buddha didn’t just liberate His own disciples, official disciples. He liberated all beings on the same planet that He lived; as long as He lived.

State of the Five Worlds, Part 1 of 4 Feb. 28, 2005

State of the Five Worlds, Part 1 of 4 Feb. 28, 2005

Some of you were wondering… the whole history of the Five Worlds. The physical world is the leftover from the Astral creation. After creating the Astral, the heavy stuff settled down at the bottom and became the physical world, which is a fantastic world, I’m telling you. It’s the only one that has a physical body. And then, whatever’s left, whatever is heavier than the physical, then it even sinks lower to the bottom of the creation, and we call it hell. There is no such level like that. It’s infinite. But still, each level is like that. Fine. So whatever’s in the same level is hell, whatever is the same level is physical, whatever is the same level of fineness is Astral, etc. etc. And the finer, the higher. So hell persons are permitted on earth four hours at a time, without a body. And if he wants to manifest in the body, two hours.

State of the Five Worlds, Part 3 of 4 Feb. 28, 2005

Let’s go to the Second Level. The further, the higher, the less to talk about. The Second Level beings can come down to Earth in the physical flesh which they manifest themselves by their own power. They can stay… that physical body can last for eight days. They don't need food in these eight days. They will just look like you. And they can talk in any language they want. And you’ll never know where they come from! Perfect accent, perfect intelligence, perfect knowledge of everything. They know everything from the Second Level, no? The library contains everything, every country, every small being. The Second Level has a library. You want to know anybody's history, you can go there and check it out. So, nobody can ever push them into a corner where they’ll never be able to answer, so they never get into trouble.

Amazing Beings, Part 1 of 3 Feb. 27, 2005

I have a Rottweiler. He's very naughty, so smart, very loving, very protective, very intelligent, and very snuggling, snuggling, but stubborn. He knows this is his house. He knows I love him. And if a smaller dog comes, he's very gentle. He plays tug of war with them with the toys, but he never really yanks them and runs away and all that. Never. And the small guy always wins, because he gives in. He's really cute when you observe. And he talks, and he's very protective. That's why when I first came here, the next day, he told the dogs here, "Take care of my Master." And they all came and sat in front of my trailer, waiting to say hallo.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Five, Part 5 of 11 April 7, 2019

"If there are heavenly beings who wish to escape their heavenly destiny, I will appear in the body of a god and speak Dharma for them, enabling them to accomplish their wish." In case you're falling down to some heavens, you can ask Quan Yin Bodhisattva to lift you up. Or maybe ask the Ultimate Master. So whatever you wish, She will help you. Just don't wish nonsense. Just wish for liberation, that's the best. Anything else just causes you more trouble, prolongs your suffering in the Shadow Universe, even in the High Kingdom, High Heaven. Useless. Some great Masters have not been above the Shadow Universe, so, therefore, the liberation above the Three Worlds is good enough already. Because above the Three Worlds, you will always have a chance to meet high enlightened Masters, and They will lift you up, up, up, up, and teach you until you're uplifted to the higher level again.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Five, Part 2 of 11 April 7, 2019

And then, this so-called “Ultimate Master” came, told me, “It’s You, Yourself.” I said, “I never said anything like that.” And Hes said, “The Ultimate, Ultimate Master is Yourself.” I said, “Ah! So, I have a new title now?” So the voice said, “No, it’s not new. It was always there.” That’s it. It’s just a name. Like the Buddha, He has ten titles. I don’t know how many more titles I have. Don’t ask me. I never check such things; it makes no difference to me. I don’t feel any different, but I feel more powerful recently. I feel more able to cope with karma. I feel more invincible. “More” doesn’t mean complete. Just feel stronger. Inside. Outside is the same. I just feel something, like inside I’m stronger, more powerful.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Four, Part 4 of 5 April 7, 2019

So, the Quan Yin Bodhisattva continued, “‘World Honored One, because I served and made offerings to the Thus Come One, Quan Yin. So that Thus Come One transmitted the Vajra Samadhi of all being like an illusion, as one becomes permeated with hearing and cultivates hearing. Because I gained a power of compassion identical with that of all Buddhas, the Thus Come Ones, I became accomplished in 32 response-bodies and entered all lands.’” Means She became omnipresent. She could enter all lands at will, but not like the will of the human; the doing without doing, the will without will then. So, they pray and She hears everything. That’s why the Asian people, the Buddhist people, they trust the Quan Yin Bodhisattva very much, because She’s supposed to hear in all directions. She hears all the prayers and responds to them promptly.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Six, Part 3 of 7 April 8, 2019

He explained from the beginning of our worldly existence already, how it came to materialize. It came only from emptiness, from nothing, and the thought also came from nothing. And the body, the form also came from emptiness. Therefore, he said like that first before he analyzed which method is OK, which is not. So, he said now. “Form and thought combined become the ‘dust.’ Their essence is not discernible. How can one use what lacks clarity, And expect to gain perfect penetration?” Because many of the Bodhisattvas beforehand, they said they used the touch or the water or whatever. So, he said any form, anything that has form or mental quality, is dust, is nothing. You cannot rely on them. They’re not reliable for you to have a perfect concentration. If you cannot concentrate well, then you cannot enter samadhi, that’s what he meant My calendar says so.

Her tears even wet the whole pillow. After she woke up, she said that Master was working so hard. She woke up crying and said, Master was on Her way to mainland China. She said the road was all covered with stones and thorns. The road was covered by deep snow. Master was small in figure, and the snow was up to Master’s knees. Master trudged alone, wearing very thin clothes, carrying a small backpack. But Master was carrying a very big invisible bag. She said that bag was the world’s karma and the karma of all sentient beings.

Buddhist Stories: The Lay Disciple Atulah, Part 3 of 4 Sep. 21, 2015

Then the Buddha replied, "Atulah, from days of old until now it has been the invariable practice of man to blame him who said nothing, him who said much, and him who said little. There is no one who deserves unqualified blame and no one who deserves unqualified praise. Even kings are blamed by some and praised by others. Even the great Earth, even the Sun and the Moon. Even the Supremely Enlightened Buddha, sitting and speaking in the midst of the fourfold assembly, some blame and others praise." If some blame you or praise you, it makes no importance at all. They don’t have any intelligence to even praise you or to blame you. They have nothing to say. So it doesn’t matter what they said. Whoever is blamed by a sound judging person, the good person, intelligent person, then he is truly blamed.

Some dogs have gifts to bring along with them. And whoever’s nice to them, they give it to them. Cats mostly came from Astral Level, so they have magic power. They are very psychic. Cats are very psychic. Dogs are very loyal, and have a lot of good sense and intellect, because they came from Second Level. They are beings from Second Level who came down specially for some reason. Mostly to help their friends or relatives still there, or something like that, or some attachment somewhere. Cows are from almost the Fifth Level, border of Fourth and Fifth. Cows, all the cows are from there. And they eat them. The cow is a benefactor of mankind. Understand? We should never touch them.

The Essence of a Buddha, Part 1 of 5 Feb. 28, 2005

Maybe I was born a Hungarian some other day, because I love (vegan) goulash very much. When I was alone, that was what I cooked. Well, I didn’t think it was goulash per se, but I cooked like that, similar, all the time. It’s a normal Chinese restaurant. And I just told her: “Cook whatever. All of us are vegetarian (vegan). We don’t even taste fish or sauce, meat sauce or anything; so please just bring anything that’s pure vegetarian (vegan). Please wash the cooking utensils.” And they did exactly. It tasted so good! It didn’t stink. And it tasted really good! They cooked with love! I was so pleased, I gave them double the price. I always love the Chinese. When they are abroad, they have a lot of hardship. Strange land, strange language. So I always, whenever I can buy things from the Chinese shop, I always buy.

Buddhist Stories: The Lay Disciple Atulah, Part 2 of 4 Sep. 21, 2015

I read you one of these stories. Atulah was a lay disciple. He lived in Sravasti. And he had a retinue of five hundred other lay disciples. One day he took those lay disciples with him to a monastery to hear the Dharma. Now this elder Revata was a solitary recluse. Delighting in solitude even as a lion delights in solitude, and thus he had nothing to say to Atulah and his following. He felt agitated. So he arose from his seat, went to the elder Sariputra. And forthwith the elder Sariputra expounded the Abhidharma at great length. Provoked, he took his retinue with him again, and went to the elder Ananda. Thereupon the elder Ananda expounded the Dharma to them very briefly, making it very easy for them to understand. But they were provoked at the Reverend Ananda also. And then going to the Buddha.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Six, Part 5 of 7 April 8, 2019

He said to Ananda personally, “Ananda, you should listen attentively: I rely upon the Budddha’s awesome power, in describing to you the Vajra King, A samadhi inconceivable of likeness to illusions. It is the true mother of all Buddhas. You may hear the secret Dharma-doors, of Buddhas as numerous as motes of dust, But without first renouncing desire and outflows, You may amass learning, but you will still make mistakes. You concentrate on learning to uphold the Buddha’s Dharma, why don’t you listen to your own hearing? …As soon as one sense-organ returns to the Source, The entire six organs are liberated.” So, using the hearing organ, the true hearing organ, you can liberate all the other six organs. I guess after that, the Buddha felt that it was time to impart to him the Quan Yin Method to protect him. Because if you practice this Quan Yin Method to the full, then even Matangi’s daughter, you will see it as just an illusionary figure or dreamlike, so you will not be charmed by any mantra, even the most powerful one. You will counteract it with that and no problem, you will be free. That’s what he meant.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Five, Part 6 of 11 April 7, 2019

"Also, World Honored One, using this Vajra Samadhi, of Becoming Permeated with Hearing and Cultivating Hearing, and using the miraculous strength of effortlessness, because I have a kind regard equally for all living beings in the Six Paths..." "I can enable living beings throughout the ten directions who are suffering and in distress to attain liberation by contemplating their sounds." That's the power of practicing the Quan Yin Method, of the hearing faculty – but inside, the original one. Not the ears, because with the ears, we only hear outside. So, when we cut off the attention of hearing outside, no sound, no relying on any sound around us, then we can hear the true preaching, the true Dharma, and attain the true power. So, practice Quan Yin Method and help others. Your soul, your higher soul, elevated higher and higher, and then you can always help other beings, automatically. That is real love.

Understand Emotional Ties and Transcend Karma, Part 1 of 5 Mar. 1, 2005

It takes a lot of merit, devotion and goodness inside; of course, and enlightenment. Most of the Buddhas, when they became Buddha, they don’t know it, because of the grace of the Master as well. They do feel that they’re clean, but because it’s so subtle! But they will know if they lose it! Whenever they lost the Buddhahood or their level goes down, they know it. For you it’s easy. Just keep the Five Precepts, meditate, recite the Five (Holy) Names, remember the Gift, and go straight up, sooner or later. Nothing can stop you now. Nothing can tempt you anymore. Nothing wants even to go near! Not everyone we love will return our love. It’s life. That’s life! Affinity, you know? Sometimes the enemy can come back, they hurt you in different ways. In the form of “love,” a lot of people use it to hurt each other.

Four Types of Beings in Our Life, Part 3 of 6 July 14, 2019

Four Types of Beings in Our Life, Part 3 of 6 July 14, 2019

Now we go back to Lord Mahavira, our good and compassionate Lord. But this is too extreme for me. I don’t wish any Master to ever have to undergo this kind of ascetic life, which is so filled with suffering like this. It’s not necessary at all. I wasn’t born to be looking like an ascetic monk this lifetime. I’m born for you. I was born for this type of people who look through the clothes and the skin to see something more valuable than just the price of the material that I wear. So, it doesn’t matter what the Master looks like. As long as their souls perceive that She speaks, He talks the Truth, they will follow to the end sincerely and diligently. And for these souls, I might have appeal. For ordinary souls, they just look for personality, they look for appearance, they look for demonstration. They look for whatever. You know it, right? So, they will not be able to maintain their determination and faith as long as the so-called Master that they have seen or wanted to believe in doesn’t fit their small little frame.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Five, Part 10 of 11 April 7, 2019

“Because of hearing and consideration, I escape the six defiling objects, just as a sound leaps over a wall without hindrance. And so, I have the wonderful ability to manifest shape after shape and to recite mantra upon mantra.” “These shapes and these mantras dispel the fears of living beings. Therefore, throughout the ten directions, in as many lands as there are fine motes of dust, I am known as one who bestows fearlessness.” “…The Buddha asks about perfect penetration. From the gateway of the ear, I obtained a perfect and illumining samadhi. The conditioned mind was at ease, and therefore I entered the appearance of the flow, and obtaining samadhi, I accomplished Bodhi. This is the foremost method.” The Buddha says that all Buddhas are reliant on the Sound Stream to come down to the world to deliver sentient beings. And all Buddhas, also enlightened Beings, are reliant on the Sound Stream to go back to the original Source. The vibration currents that all beings have to rely on to achieve what they want to achieve or to go Home. It’s like a highway.

Four Types of Beings in Our Life, Part 4 of 6 July 14, 2019

And Bodhisattvas, Saints, Buddhas are all over, in the ten directions, life after life. They are helping to rescue humans and to lift them up. Of course, friends include Bodhisattvas and Buddhas and Saintly beings. Now, the second type, maybe friend has more than just that. Sometimes, they just happen to be with you for a short while, but then they introduce you to some good teachings or a name of a Master, and it awakens something in you, and then you will go and find more of that teaching or that Master. These are also friends. And we have also invisible friends, like the angels who protect you. Now, there is another group of people; they are "Neutral." They are no harm to you, no good to you. Enemy has two types: outside your circle enemy and inside your circle enemy; we call "secret enemies." The enemy outside, of course, they do things very obviously against you, this is easier to deal with. You can escape, if you know, if you can. Secret enemy is more difficult. They make you even not want to practice anymore. And the worst thing is that they make you lose your belief in the right path to follow, right Master to believe in. These are the worst enemies.

Always be considerate, otherwise you’ll go nowhere. You’ll never go up anywhere. If you improve yourself in real life, then it’s good for you, and good for the people around you. It’s not good just to be enlightened inside. Who cares if you become Buddha or not, if you don’t help anyone, if you don’t extend your love or expand your consciousness or your wisdom to help someone else in every small thing? Small things, that’s important. Big things, Heaven takes care. I was very happy that people really went out of their way to help others in need. Despite that they’re different religions, different background, different languages.
