Vegan Trends Around the World, Part 4 of 11 Aug. 06, 2015

1306 ”Two hundred thousand liters of water to produce one kilo beef.” “Five hamburgers is the water equivalent to a year’s showers!” “Agriculture, particularly meat and dairy products, account for 70% of global fresh water consumption, 38% of the total land use, and 19% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.” United Nations Environment Programme Report. From 2000 to 2009, it’s still not that much. And then from 2030 to 2039, they predict because of the emission of greenhouse gases, there will be more droughts, more hot, so more drought. If we don’t stop the greenhouse gas emissions due to animal products, and if we don’t stop the use of too much clean water for the animal industry, then our children’s children’s children will probably die, die from thirst. It’s terrible.

Vegan Trends Around the World, Part 3 of 11 Aug. 05, 2015

“Vegetarianism is fairly common in the Netherlands. A study has shown that the number of vegetarians out of a population of nearly 16.5 million people increased from 560,000 in 2004 to 720,000 in 2006. The number of part-time vegetarians grew rapidly as well. Around 3.5 million Dutch citizens abstain from eating meat a few days a week.” Wow! “Thirty-one percent of Indians are vegetarians.” You know how much is that? Three hundred fifty plus million people! Bravo. I love India. “Meat consumption is dropping across Europe and now in the US.” “Demand for milk has been in a free-fall for decades. US milk consumption has dropped 36% since the 1970s.” (Wow!)

Vegan Trends Around the World, Part 2 of 11 Aug. 05, 2015

Wow, so many! So today, no story. We just read all these, huh? It’s wonderful. It’s a vegan trend in the world now. “German meat giant Rügenwalder Mühle has developed a full vegan product line, including vegan meatballs.” “‘7-Eleven,’ the world’s biggest convenience store just went vegan with its sandwich spread.” “Veganz, a German vegan supermarket chain has plans to expand across Europe and US.” “British Vegetarian Society reports that currently an average of 5,000 people a week become vegetarians in Britain.” “In Germany, the equivalent figure is 4,000 people a week. But with around 7,000,000 vegetarians, Germany currently has the highest number.” It’s wonderful, huh? Good news? (Yes!) You guys have been diligent. The media also has to be thanked. They spread all this news. So the people copy and want to do the same.

The vegetarian (vegan) trend is reported everywhere. "7-Eleven has quietly switched to vegan mayo." Wow! “Just Mayo, Hampton Creek Foods backed by VC (venture capital) firm Khosla Ventures, Bill Gates, and Li Ka-shing, richest man in Asia, have secured total funding for Hampton Creek, now at $120,000,000; $113,000,000 of which came about this year, 2014.” “Beyond Meat backed by Twitter’s co-founder Evan Williams and Biz Stone, leading VC firm Kleiner Perkins, an early investor of Amazon, Google, and Facebook." All these millionaires, billionaires, support these vegan trends. Isn’t that wonderful? (Yes.)

Spread Love and Help Each Other for A Peaceful World, Part 4 of 4 July 28, 2019

So, make sure that when you go out or inside your house, you keep your purity and love. When you go out, you go out with love, and purity, and recite the Five (Holy) Names or the Gift all the time. Then all beings will benefit from your love, all around you at least; whomever you meet will treat you with love in return. You will feel also love from them. I give them tip not because of money, but to spread love. In physical means, so that Hong Kong has more peace, more love. It’s not the money that I give. It’s the love and the peace through that gift. It’s not the food that I bring to them, it is the love that I give also.

Spread Love and Help Each Other for A Peaceful World, Part 3 of 4 July 28, 2019

Actually, humans should be the most merciful because we are the highest. As you can see, no other beings are more competent than us, right? Our minds are intelligent, and we can invent many high-tech tools to make our lives more and more comfortable. Animals cannot do that. They can only rely on nature. They rely on Heaven to give them food. I really wish our planet well, and the world will become more open, tolerant, and peaceful. For that, I am continuing to put in effort. Not just for humans only, but for the helpless and beautiful animals who share our world, but not share our privilege.

Spread Love and Help Each Other for A Peaceful World, Part 2 of 4 July 28, 2019

Over the decades, how much have I told you about loving others, and loving and respecting other sentient beings? Have I told you? (Yes.) You also know that recently, a few weeks ago, I went into retreat for animals. It's not like I didn't set an example of how I treat my dogs. Everybody knows how I treat my dogs, right? Whatever we do, just imagine it's us. Anything that we don't want to happen to ourselves or have other people do to us, then we don't treat others like that, and it would be OK. It's a very simple concept.

Spread Love and Help Each Other for A Peaceful World, Part 1 of 4 July 28, 2019

I’m trying to do my best for the rest of my time on this planet. And all of you also, do your best. Meditate as much as you can, because there’s nothing else better to do with your precious time, as a human on the planet. And also help each other, please. Help each other. Not only does the person receive the benefit of your love, but you, yourself, also benefit from it. Any time you help someone else, and other beings also, unconditionally, you rise up. Your soul rises up; your noble quality rises up; your love expands. And that should be very, very beneficial to you, and your family and your clans, the world. I’d like to stay as long as possible, just to help more, help the world, especially to stop the killing karma, so that the world becomes a peaceful, loving place for everyone to stay.

Buddhist Stories: The Lay Disciple Atulah, Part 4 of 4 Sep. 21, 2015

And God will be present on Earth, but invisibly. Maybe visible to some few, OK? And that race also would be invisible. They don’t need a physical body. Maybe sometimes they take on a physical body to go around the world for some purpose. Blessing or something. But we will not be able to see that. "Can You tell me…I have some more questions. What is the reason behind cancer, apart from…" Maybe some loophole in your system. That it can sneak in. But mostly it’s from DNA. Some groups of people are more prone to cancers than other groups. But it could be even contaminated by others. Too much nearness to some patients, your patients. Somebody you took too much at heart. And that triggered a kind of so-called sympathetic response, so you share.

Buddhist Stories: The Lay Disciple Atulah, Part 3 of 4 Sep. 21, 2015

Then the Buddha replied, "Atulah, from days of old until now it has been the invariable practice of man to blame him who said nothing, him who said much, and him who said little. There is no one who deserves unqualified blame and no one who deserves unqualified praise. Even kings are blamed by some and praised by others. Even the great Earth, even the Sun and the Moon. Even the Supremely Enlightened Buddha, sitting and speaking in the midst of the fourfold assembly, some blame and others praise." If some blame you or praise you, it makes no importance at all. They don’t have any intelligence to even praise you or to blame you. They have nothing to say. So it doesn’t matter what they said. Whoever is blamed by a sound judging person, the good person, intelligent person, then he is truly blamed.

I read you one of these stories. Atulah was a lay disciple. He lived in Sravasti. And he had a retinue of five hundred other lay disciples. One day he took those lay disciples with him to a monastery to hear the Dharma. Now this elder Revata was a solitary recluse. Delighting in solitude even as a lion delights in solitude, and thus he had nothing to say to Atulah and his following. He felt agitated. So he arose from his seat, went to the elder Sariputra. And forthwith the elder Sariputra expounded the Abhidharma at great length. Provoked, he took his retinue with him again, and went to the elder Ananda. Thereupon the elder Ananda expounded the Dharma to them very briefly, making it very easy for them to understand. But they were provoked at the Reverend Ananda also. And then going to the Buddha.

Always be considerate, otherwise you’ll go nowhere. You’ll never go up anywhere. If you improve yourself in real life, then it’s good for you, and good for the people around you. It’s not good just to be enlightened inside. Who cares if you become Buddha or not, if you don’t help anyone, if you don’t extend your love or expand your consciousness or your wisdom to help someone else in every small thing? Small things, that’s important. Big things, Heaven takes care. I was very happy that people really went out of their way to help others in need. Despite that they’re different religions, different background, different languages.

Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Diary: The Living Masters Can Liberate All redeemable Souls, Part 4 of 4 May 5, 2019

Her tears even wet the whole pillow. After she woke up, she said that Master was working so hard. She woke up crying and said, Master was on Her way to mainland China. She said the road was all covered with stones and thorns. The road was covered by deep snow. Master was small in figure, and the snow was up to Master’s knees. Master trudged alone, wearing very thin clothes, carrying a small backpack. But Master was carrying a very big invisible bag. She said that bag was the world’s karma and the karma of all sentient beings.

The Buddhas and Christ, any Saint, rescue all the people, all the beings in this world, as long as They are in this world. And Their energy will linger in the world for 300, 500 years after, after Their Nirvana. It depends on how powerful the Saint was or is. All beings are or will be uplifted recently because your Master is stronger now. Except some exceptions, that I will read to you. All beings on this planet, as long as I live, as long as your Master lives, She will uplift them all to the New Land, but gradually; depends. But at least they're liberated.

Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Diary: The Living Masters Can Liberate All redeemable Souls, Part 2 of 4 May 5, 2019

Why did the devas, the heavenly beings, praise Shakyamuni Buddha as having rescued numerous beings, rescued the world? How? Why? When the Buddha is in the world, because the physical body is connected with all beings in the physical realms, you are connected together in this physical dimension, one way or another. And then you take food from this world and you breathe the same air with everyone else, and you drink water from the world, and many other things. Every little thing connects the Buddha with this world. So, He can use that to connect with people and help them to liberate. That’s why. Because the Buddha didn’t just liberate His own disciples, official disciples. He liberated all beings on the same planet that He lived; as long as He lived.

Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Diary: The Living Masters Can Liberate All redeemable Souls, Part 1 of 4 May 5, 2019

I'm going to read you some of my diary today. All this information came from when I meditated. For example, why Shakyamuni Buddha had to refer to Amitabha Buddha in order to save one of His followers in jail. And she was in jail and she was praying to Shakyamuni Buddha to save her, to help her, and then He appeared ― not physically; a Light body. Master has many bodies, can manifest a body anywhere when necessary, but it's not necessarily that you can see. A Master in the physical body can even use another physical body, but must have a physical body. When a Master is in the world, He doesn't just liberate the disciples, He liberates the whole world during His lifetime, with some exceptions. I will tell you which ones cannot be liberated.

Amazing Beings, Part 3 of 3 Feb. 27, 2005

Some dogs have gifts to bring along with them. And whoever’s nice to them, they give it to them. Cats mostly came from Astral Level, so they have magic power. They are very psychic. Cats are very psychic. Dogs are very loyal, and have a lot of good sense and intellect, because they came from Second Level. They are beings from Second Level who came down specially for some reason. Mostly to help their friends or relatives still there, or something like that, or some attachment somewhere. Cows are from almost the Fifth Level, border of Fourth and Fifth. Cows, all the cows are from there. And they eat them. The cow is a benefactor of mankind. Understand? We should never touch them.

The dogs are extremely intelligent, if you treat them like one, you will be surprised. You will be surprised. The very small Maltese, when he first came, We took him to the school. They call it K-9 (Canine) Cadet. he had been a favorite student there. They told me that he was very tidy. He always went to the corner there to do his toilet, and he never made any trouble. He shared all the toys. He didn’t bark loud, and he was licking them all the time, anybody in the house. Everybody came, he welcomed and…kissing, kissing everybody. You don’t need to teach a dog. If you love him, he responds. He responds with love, and he will surprise you no end.

I have a Rottweiler. He's very naughty, so smart, very loving, very protective, very intelligent, and very snuggling, snuggling, but stubborn. He knows this is his house. He knows I love him. And if a smaller dog comes, he's very gentle. He plays tug of war with them with the toys, but he never really yanks them and runs away and all that. Never. And the small guy always wins, because he gives in. He's really cute when you observe. And he talks, and he's very protective. That's why when I first came here, the next day, he told the dogs here, "Take care of my Master." And they all came and sat in front of my trailer, waiting to say hallo.

The Surangama Sutra: Twenty-Five Means to Enlightenment, Session Four, Part 5 of 5 April 7, 2019

One of my earlier monk acquaintances, maybe he was in the army or something. But he was in the whole group to be shot dead with another 12 or some more people, but he always repeated Quan Yin Bodhisattva all his life, even before he became a monk, just a normal monk, not a bhiksu, not a fully precepted monk. He did not die, he just fell down. Maybe later on, or maybe in other sutra, it says that whoever often respectfully recites the name of Quan Yin Bodhisattva with a pure heart and sincerity, fire won't burn him, water won't drown him, bullet cannot kill him. And so, he told me he believed it because it happened to him. Everybody else in the group died, but not him. The power of Quan Yin is very great. It depends also on your sincerity and karma.
