In southern Fujian and Taiwan (Formosa), we call this art form “Jiali theatre.” In ancient times, marionette theatre was a performance art in royal Chinese courts. This kind of performance could only be watched by emperors or foreign guests in royal courts. Later, it became popular among the common people. After this happened, people performed marionette theater to thank the gods. Performing marionette theatre for the gods or for the Jade Emperor was considered the most respectful of rituals.

Insights from the Akashic Record, Part 2 of 2

“The Akashic records are in the causal body (karana deha). The causal body is around your physical body somewhere around eight feet (and it can be bigger or smaller, developed or underdeveloped depending on how evolved you are). How does a clairvoyant see the causal body? If the causal body is well developed in the sense that it is well illuminated, there are no black patches, then the person is evolved … then that person is considered to be an enlightened, ascended Master…All the akashas need to be cleaned so that the records get deleted. When your files are deleted completely it is called ascension. This is the right understanding of ascension and Akashic records…”

In Celebration of International Artist Day, Reminiscing the Old Times, Part 1 of 3

Then I came up with the idea, a while ago, before the day we announced the “International Artist Day,” I finally figured it out: “Ah! Or we make a day to glorify them.” This International Artist Day, I hope the whole world will accept it. The whole world should commemorate it as big as other holidays. To glorify the artists, so that the departed artists’ souls would be peaceful in the other world. And the living artists - even though they are facing hardships while bringing happiness to the world - would feel satisfied and happy somewhat.

A Tribute to Creative Souls: 2nd International Artist Day, Part 2 of 2

Art is something from God, or art is something from humans. Artists are those who can give that, who totally give in to that. Therefore, these artists are a very important group of people. They should be recognized, I think. It is something great, that these is such an opportunity, such a recognition. When I heard that Supreme Master Ching Hai had created International Artist Day, I thought it was such a brilliant idea. It's clearly a huge step in the right direction for creating a more creative world.

In December 2010, during the COP16 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Cancún, Mexico, a special artistic event was held. “The Greenest Heroes Gala” celebrated champions of the environment in halting global warming through the vegan way. As the event was organized in a short time, the guest stars didn’t have much time to make arrangements but stopped everything for the noble cause of saving the planet. Deeply touched by their enthusiastic support, Supreme Master Ching Hai spontaneously invited them to a cordial vegan brunch just hours before the gala.

In Celebration of International Artist Day, Reminiscing the Old Times, Part 3 of 3

All true artists are love incarnate. They are here to give life, plenty of sun-shining smiles on countless faces and hearts. We must love them. We must honor them. Whatever we can so-called help them, it’s just to contribute to show gratitude to what they offer to our world. Because what they offer is more than material value. We cannot buy their art. Actually, we cannot pay anything that the artistic do during their out-of-this-world inspiration. I myself, if there is a company I’ll be glad to be with all the time, it shall be the genuine, kind, talented artists and their art lovers.

Keyboard Music from Baroque and Classical Periods, Part 1 of 2

The instruments’ sounds are inspired from higher realms within. Artists are often viewed as half-saints, because they bring celestial music to this Earth for us to enjoy. Piano music has its beginnings in the Baroque period between 1600 and 1750. Baroque music is characterized by an energetic rhythm. One of the most important composers of the Baroque period is Bach. The mid 18-century heralded the Classical Period, piano music of this time focused on the exploration of the major-minor system. Among the most loved classical composers of this period was Mozart.

Vaisakhi: Celebrating the Sikh New Year in the Punjab

Vaisakhi: Celebrating the Sikh New Year in the Punjab

Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, marks the Sikh new year. On this day, we celebrate the spring harvest tradition as well as the birth of the Sikh homeland in the Punjap region of India. In Hinduism, it marks the Goddess Ganga’s descent to Earth. In India, Hindu devotees visit temples and take ritual bath in the sacred Ganges, Jhelum, and Kaveri rivers. They believe that the sacred waters will wash their sins away. For thousands of years, the tradition of Vaisakhi has been celebrated as a festival for the harvesting of Rabi crops (winter crops) at springtime. On Vaisakhi day, village folk take to the fields in color attire and sing and dance. The reading aloud of scriptures, the chanting of hymns, music, the fairs, and the parades all form an inherent part of Vaisakhi celebrations.
