Selection from Songs of Kabir, Part 1 of 2

Kabir was a great Indian poet who was fully devoted to the Creator. He was a saint who not only endeavored to live the Truth, he wrote about it through his divine gift of verse. A weaver by profession, Kabir is considered as one of the world’s greatest poets and one of the most quoted authors. The Holy Guru Granth Sahib contains over 500 verses by Kabir. Kabir’s message is universal. Perhaps that is why many still revere Kabir as a saint, whether they are a Sikh, Hindu, Muslim or a modern spiritual seeker.

From the Holy Buddhist Tipitaka: Itivuttaka – The Group of Threes, Part 2 of 2

Buddha or Buddha Gautama, also known as Shakyamuni Buddha, was a great spiritual Master from ancient India. The rich treasury of Buddha’s spiritual doctrine on universal truths are studied and revered to this day for their deep wisdom and compassion. The Itivuttaka, which means “as it was said” in Pali, is a Buddhist scripture and part of the recollection of Buddha’s discourses. There are 112 short teachings ascribed in the text to the Buddha, each consisting of a prose portion followed by a verse portion. It is considered as one of the earliest of all Buddhist scriptures.

Philosophy of Plotinus - The Second Ennead of The Six Enneads: The Heavenly System, Part 2 of 2

We must distinguish between a center in reference to the two different natures, body and Soul. In body, center is a point of place; in Soul it is a source, the source of some other nature. That around which the object, Soul or material mass, revolves. While in the higher realm everything flows on its course. There is a lowest power of the Soul, a nearest to Earth, and this is interwoven throughout the entire universe: another phase possesses sensation, while yet another includes the Reason which is concerned with the objects of sensation.

From Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Book “Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Part 1 of 2

From Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Book “Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Part 1 of 2

One must be balanced in Yin (Negative) and Yang (Positive) to become a Saint. We can’t reach Heaven in one step. It’s same for the spiritual practitioners. When the time comes, we’ll get results naturally. If we have faith and happiness, and if we feel the protection of God’s power, then we’ve already had the most precious experiences. We are belong to the “Religion of Laughter”! We can measure our level by our laughter, If you want to become a Buddha, you should remember when you come here, you’re going to be a “Laughing Buddha”. We become very expansive, like the air, like the ocean. We’re not limited by any biases or bound by any traditions or customs.

Selection from the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch: Chapter 1, Part 2 of 2

Venerated Buddhist Master Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen, is a legendary figure in the early history of Chinese Zen Buddhism. He is regarded as the founder of the “Sudden Enlightenment” Southern Zen school of Buddhism. The Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch is a record of both Buddhist Master Huineng’s life and teachings. “Supreme Bodhi must be obtained at the very moment of speaking. In recognizing the original mind, at all times, in every thought, you yourself will see that the ten thousand Dharmas are unblocked; in one truth is all truth and the ten thousand states are of themselves ‘thus,’ as they are. The ‘thusness’ of the mind, just that is true reality.”

From Mohism’s Book of Mozi: Book 4 – Universal Love, Part 2 of 2

From Mohism’s Book of Mozi: Book 4 – Universal Love, Part 2 of 2

Mozi said: It is to regard the state of others as one’s own, the house of others as one’s own, the persons of others as one’s self. When feudal lords love one another there will be no more war; when heads of houses love one another there will be no more mutual usurpation; when individuals love one another there will be no more injury. When ruler and ruled love each other there will be gracious and loyal; when father and son love each other there will be affectionate and filial. And it is all due to mutual love that calamities are prevented from arising.

From Sufism’s Sacred Fihi ma Fihi: Discourse of Rumi : 18-19, Part 2 of 2

Rumi said: Someone said to Taj al-Din Quba’i, “These doctors of divinity live amongst us and deprive the people of their religious beliefs.” Taj al-Din Quba’i answered,“They do not live amongst us and take away our beliefs. God forbid they could ever be one of us.” No one becomes a scholar by virtue of robe and turban. Scholarship is a virtue in its very essence, and whether that virtue is clothed in tunic or overcoat, it makes no difference. Seek humanity: that is your true purpose. The rest is mere long-windedness. When words are elaborately decorated, their purpose is forgotten. The purpose is the root of the matter; the rest is merely a headache.

Meditation is the Source of Love, Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 3, April 20, 1991

Question: Is the Quan Yin Method the highest method in the universe? Is there a higher method?Answer (Supreme Master Ching Hai): Not at this moment. After initiation, you are attaining the Tao, slowly discovering the Tao, because the Tao is not to be discovered in one day.An advanced country is not to be judged by its outer appearance, high-rise buildings, or money. No! It is to be judged by their moral standard. Being advanced is to be advanced in spirituality, not in material aspects. Shakyamuni Buddha had no money but He was the most civilized person.

Love is the True Essence of Life, Part 1 of 2, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Apr 3, 2000

The essence of life is love. The essence of God, of Buddha, of Allah, is love. There’s nothing else but love. When we make the choice of love, that’s the highest choice, the noblest choice, which is our true Self, we will feel that we are very near to God, very near to Buddha.

From the Holy Bible: The Gospel of Matthew, Chaps 5-7

Jesus taught God’s love and forgiveness to all people with open hearts. Jesus could discuss the scriptures with the erudite and learned but mostly he told simple stories, called parables that everyone could understand. Today we present to you Jesus Christ’s teachings as written in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapters 5-7 in the Holy Bible. In these chapters, Jesus spoke with his disciples about the proper way to lead a virtuous and compassionate life.

In Silence We Know God, Part 2 of 2, May 5,1999

All the religious scriptures told us that God is within ourselves. That means we are God. That means we are one with God. Or okay, at least the children of God, offspring from the Most High, the Most Powerful, the Almighty, the All Knowing, the All Seeing, the All Having, the All Powerful. Not by bowing to Hirm one hundred times a day, not by fasting, not by talking loud to Hirm, but by proving that Hes is glorious, by proving to be successful in our spiritual life as well as material life, we glorify our Father; we prove Hes exists. Until one day, we completely remember who we are, and then we can declare like Lord Jesus has declared, "I and my Father are one."

In Silence We Know God: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4 May 5,1999

In Silence We Know God: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4 May 5,1999

The true Method is silence. But in silence, you Know God. Not that in silence, then nothing. No, no. It’s not that. God is God. There’s nothing we can do to know Hirm. Hes is just there. I just show you where to look and to reveal Hirm. And when a God-like person walks on the street, his spiritual power naturally heals whoever needs to be healed. But that is by the will of God, not by the will of our hand or any of our ego, so-called, healing action.

To Realize God We Have to Go Beyond Religion, Part 3 of 3, April 16, 1994

To Realize God We Have to Go Beyond Religion, Part 3 of 3, April 16, 1994

No, no Buddhists have forced any Christian to become a Buddhist. Just accept each other. Accept. Yeah, that’s enough. All religions come from God. So, anybody just has to respect everybody else religion. Because people understand religion differently. You see, according to their level, they understand Buddhist. Even their own religion, they understand differently than the next person. Like Buddhist monk, sometimes he says he’s a Buddha. He means he realizes the Buddhahood and he’s one with Buddha. But only if he realizes the Buddha inside. If only he realizes God inside. Then he speaks the truth.

Its noble inhabitants known as the Toltecs, were highly developed culturally and spiritually. If you plant a seed with no husk, it cannot grow, but if you bury it in the earth with its shell, then it germinates and becomes a great tree. So, form is a great and necessary principle, and without it our task fails and our purpose is not attained. Yes this principle is reality in the eyes of those who know reality and have become reality!

From Buddhist Scriptures: Metta Sutra and Dhammacakkappavattana Sutra, Part 2 of 4

“Now this, bhikkhus (Buddhist monks or devotees), is the noble truth of suffering: birth is suffering, aging is suffering, illness is suffering, death is suffering; union with what is displeasing is suffering; separation from what is pleasing is suffering; not to get what one wants is suffering.” “Now this, bhikkhus (Buddhist monks or devotees), is the noble truth of the origin of suffering: it is this craving which leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust, seeking delight here and there; that is, craving for sensual pleasures, craving for continuation, craving for discontinuation.” “Now this, bhikkhus (Buddhist monks or devotees), is the noble truth of the way leading to the cessation of suffering: it is the Noble Eightfold Path; that is, right view, right resolve, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration.”
