Everyone can practice the Quan Yin Method. In due course, the Quan Yin Method, later 84,000 methods sprung forth from it. Depending on people’s spiritual aptitudes, I will teach them different methods. I don’t give initiation to people only one time, and it is done. There are many decades left, that I need, to teach from within. I teach while you sleep, teach while you eat, teach while you can’t see where I am! For example, the spirit can sink to a low level, but one day, the intensity will be reduced. It fades or is completely spent. Similar to your money in the bank, you use it for a while, then it will run out. So, all the blessings as well as the bad karma, will wear out gradually, after a period of time, and that person will wake up, OK? But it takes a very long time, so whoever wants to commit suicide must think very carefully, understand? They should find friends to talk it out, so that they will forget the problem and look at life with different eyes. And then their spirit will be more cheerful, and the friends will give some of their advice. Or there are some good Samaritan agencies or some people whose expertise is to talk to those suffering individuals. Or go out and find some friends to dance with, but don’t be stupid and commit suicide. I already said, if this work is not successful, then you go looking for other work, if this person doesn’t love you, then you go looking for someone else to love. Why give your love to someone who doesn’t love you? It’s a waste! If that person doesn’t want it, then you save it for someone else later. Just like money, if someone doesn’t accept your gift, then you save it, why throwing money away. So stupid. There is nothing worth committing suicide over. Tomorrow will be different. Tomorrow, we look at life with different eyes. There may be other amazing things that happen for you. Don’t commit suicide. It is a waste. OK. Are we done? (No, Master. We still have a lot of questions.) So, when do we have the initiation ceremony? (Dear Master, 5pm. Now, it is 15 minutes to 5pm, Master.) What time do we have to leave this venue? (11 pm, Master.) Ah, that’s it. Then we still have some more time. But whoever wants to get initiated must start to prepare. (Yes.) Do we have a private room for them? (Yes, Master, we do.) Ah, OK. So, you announce about the initiation, before reading the questions again. (Yes.) Whoever wants to get initiated must go out and prepare. The ones who don’t want to get initiated but have questions, then stay here. (Ladies and gentlemen, whoever already applied for initiation, please go to the outside room, we will invite you to a private room to prepare for initiation.) You have to prepare yourselves to stay until 11 pm, don’t think it will only take a little time. Giving initiation doesn’t take time, but your spiritual path is long, so I have to show you how. For example, when you encounter some obstacles, or other problems, then what can you do? Do you understand? Otherwise, the initiation ceremony will not take that long. (Dear Master, there are some monks who wrote a letter to alert the Buddhists that You are not a true Buddhist. Please explain to us, so we understand clearly.) Right, right! I am not a true Buddhist according to your definition of what true Buddhism is. If true Buddhist means that you go to a temple and bow to the wooden Buddha, bribe the Buddha with some fruits and flowers, then I am not that. I will go out, I don’t want to be that kind of Buddhist.But if true Buddhism means to enlighten people, to help them realize their own greatness, to find their Buddha Nature, to be their own master, to be a living Buddha in this world, then I am a true Buddhist! (Dear Master, the Bible never mentioned that Lord Jesus was the incarnation of anyone.) When someone asked, “Master Jesus, were You the reincarnation of that person?” Jesus was silent. Silence meant “yes.” He didn’t say, “No, no, no. You talk nonsense, this is a wrong teaching.” Silence is agreeing. In the old days, it was like that. In the Buddha’s time, it was the same, when someone invited the Buddha… I mean about 2,500 years ago, silence was consent. So whenever someone wanted to invite the Buddha to have a meal or to lecture, and if the Buddha was silent, they knew that He accepted the invitation. In general, it was like that. I said a little, but you should understand. Why try to split hairs in order to find fault, as if you are that stupid. I said so much but you still don’t understand! (Dear Master, I bowed to the Buddha for many years already. I am now 88 years old and vegan for almost a year. Can Supreme Master give me initiation now?) Yes, yes. Welcome! If you’ve been vegan for a long time, you can get initiated immediately. (Dear Master, when a loved one dies, and the family knows a little bit about religion, will it help the loved one to reduce their sins if they offer vegan food to the dead and pray?) Yes. But they have to offer vegan food, and pray sincerely, then it helps. But the best is to pray to spiritual practitioners who have great merit, rather than praying vaguely to the God and Buddha that you don’t know. (Dear Master, is it true that people die due to their fate? Was there someone who died unjustly? And if dying unjustly, where does that person’s soul go, and will that soul stay around the living ones?) People have their fate. But in that fate, many times there are misfortunes. It was arranged so that their life was not as normal as other lives, so it is called dying unjustly. Because they caused some unjust karma in the past, but in fact, no one dies unjustly. But when… and what else? You asked about dying unjustly, and then what else? If a person dies unjustly, where does the soul go, and does the soul stay around the living people? Sometimes they stay around, sometimes they go to Heaven, sometimes they go to hell, and sometimes they reincarnate as other people or other beings. It depends on their actions, thoughts, and words when he or she was alive. If it was good, they go to the good realm; if evil, they go to the evil realm; if average, they stay around as ghosts for a while, then they have to go to other realms, depending on their previous karma or their left-over karma. (Dear Master, Buddhism has 84,000 different methods for people of different spiritual backgrounds and levels. Please tell us if the Quan Yin Method applies to everyone or only to certain people?) Everyone can practice the Quan Yin Method. In due course, the Quan Yin Method, later 84,000 methods sprung forth from it. Depending on people’s spiritual aptitudes, I will teach them different methods. I don’t give initiation to people only one time, and it is done. I have to use my consciousness to teach your consciousness, not that I give you initiation, and then it is enough. No, it is only the introduction, just signing up. OK! (Dear Master, people often say “The sins of the fathers are visited upon the children.” So, if the parents did bad and immoral things, will their children bear the consequences?) They do, they do, they do. For example, if the parents earn their money from killing, and used that money to raise their children, then their children will grow up with all kinds of illnesses. The children depend on that sinful money to grow up, then they have to share the burden. It is like that, “children bear the sins of their father.” “The sins of the fathers are visited upon the children.” Yes, that is true. But if the parents do good, earn their money in wholesome and decent ways, then the children will grow up healthily. They will be intelligent; they don’t suffer the hardships in life, or the unusual accidents, or unexpected things. (Dear Master, there are many methods, and each one claims to be the highest. Why is there competition instead of cooperation? Is there a good connection among the Masters in the world now?) The true Master will know which method is the highest. All Masters who teach the highest method will say Their method is the highest. And those who teach a method that is not high but say it is the highest, it is their right, we can’t dispute it. Just like in this world, there are many types of chocolates, each would claim that their chocolate is the best. My car is the best, my washer is the most famous, it is their right. But you’re a human being with wisdom, so you have to judge. You have to know which method will give you liberation in one lifetime, with a clear guarantee. And when you practice a method, you have an inner experience right away, have the benefits for your mind, body, and wisdom, then you should know. You listen to the Master’s teachings and see whether or not he is worthy to be called a Master who teaches the highest method. Or you can listen to other Masters and compare carefully. You’re not an unintelligent person who would listen to whatever others say, and then sit there in fear. (Master, can You tell us if there is an unchanging soul? For example, when people die, their soul reincarnates into another body, just like changing clothes, is that true?) Yes, it is true, it is true. When the person is still in a lower level, still does not understand, is bound in ignorance, then there is such a soul. But after the person understands, the soul does exist but doesn’t exist, and one is all, all is one. (Is there a reason or a symbol, why do practitioners shave their heads?) Ah, that’s an old Indian custom. But they are meant to shave their heads one time only, that means making a new life, eliminating all old afflictions, and later they grow their hair back. But many people are used to shaved heads, it is cool, so they continue shaving their heads. Many people think shaving their heads is more dignified, more clean-cut, so they shave all the time. In Âu Lạc (Vietnam), they shave (head) all the time and get used to it. But as for Indians, they practice like in the Buddha’s time. The Buddha didn’t shave His head. He had a hair bun on His head, you see?Yeah, because we do whatever we want. Now, if the Aulacese (Vietnamese) or Chinese practitioners shave their heads, and you keep your hair, they would gossip about it. Just shave your head to be like them. And now, I have a headache, it hurts if I shave, so I am lazy and I don’t shave anymore, no. If you want to shave your head, then shave it; if not, then don’t. It is your right, OK? There is nothing to it. (This is the last question [that I am going to read]. But there are a lot [more] questions. Outside, we have a book called “Immediate Enlightenment, Questions and Answers.” In that book, there are a lot of Master’s answers. It is a very precious book. So, if you want, please go to the table with Master’s books, and ask for it.) (Dear Master, I know that Your teachings are correct, and I really want to follow. But dear Master, I am so easily tempted by many bad things. And the environment where I live is very sinful. How can I keep my heart on the right path? How can I avoid temptations?) Because you live in that sinful environment, you want to escape. If you lived in a completely favorable environment, then you’d already be in Nirvana, then you would not practice. I lived in a sinful environment in the past, and now I still live in a sinful environment. Is there anywhere that is not a sinful environment? But because you’re tired of that kind of environment, or condition, you want to become a lotus flower in the mud. So go ahead and practice. Don’t be afraid! (Dear Master, it is 5pm.) OK, thank you. (May I have Your permission. We, all the disciples would like to thank You for accepting our invitation to come here) Thank you. (to give Your lecture. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to attend this lecture today.)OK, I wish you all the best, as well as enlightenment in this lifetime.(Ladies and gentlemen, please stay seated. You can stand up to bid Master goodbye, but please stand where you are. The blessed flowers, cakes, and fruits from Master, later on, will be distributed by the hufas to fellow citizens and guests attending the ceremony today. We customarily come up here to receive the blessed foods.) These are the flowers and fruits to offer to you living Buddhas. Tell them, for them to know. Find the microphone. This is an offering to the living Buddhas.(Thank you very much for attending the lecture. The food and flowers up here, you are all welcome to take them.) We don’t have enough time. Tell them that I will come out here again, after giving initiation. (Yes. After Master gives initiation, She will come out here to talk to fellow citizens and others. If you follow me and practice the Quan Yin Method, then with all the honors of Heavens and hells, I can guarantee that you will be liberated in this lifetime. Even if you don’t become a Buddha, you will be liberated, understand? At least, you will be liberated. (Dear Supreme Master Ching Hai, when I read the Sutra, the Buddha taught “Immediate Enlightenment in One Lifetime.” But another Sutra said that to be a Buddha, one has to practice spiritually life after life and do immeasurable and infinite merits. Please explain this contradiction.) There are two ways. Now, just to reason for fun, how do you know that you haven’t practiced spiritually life after life? So, if I ask back, then you will see the answer. That is number one. It is possible that you have practiced spiritually life after life already, and this is your last life, OK. That’s why you meet the Buddha and practice the method of Immediate Enlightenment in One Lifetime. That is one of the reasons. Just to talk for fun. No need to prove it. That is number one.And there is a second reason. Because you asked, I reason for fun. Then you can choose either reason. I don’t need to say whether it is right or wrong. According to my understanding, the second reason is this. This is not based on reasoning, but on what I understand. There are two kinds of Buddha, do you know? One is called Pratyeka Buddha, and the other one is called Perfect Buddha.Pratyeka Buddha is like this: he (or she) practiced spiritually and attained the Tao by himself. Or he met the Buddha or listened to the Buddha, then he practiced by himself and attained the Tao. He wouldn’t be able to save anyone, because he didn’t have any affinity with anyone. But the (Perfect) Buddhas could save a lot of people, because life after life, They were close to people, took care and comforted, served and sacrificed for them, and loved them. So, once the people meet that kind of Perfect Buddha, they love Him, listen to Him, follow Him anywhere He goes, because life after life, He had practiced the Bodhisattva way to help the sentient beings for eternity. So those are two kinds of Buddha.For example, you become a Buddha, and you can save sentient beings, then you know that life after life, you practiced the Bodhisattva way already. You sacrificed, you helped people a lot, so you sow the affinity with them. We say that the Buddha saved only those who had affinity with Him. OK. And if you practice spiritually and become a Buddha, but you can’t save anyone, no one listens to you, then you know you are a Pratyeka Buddha. You just become a Buddha in this lifetime. You become enlightened in one lifetime and liberated due to the Buddha power. OK? Either way is good.If you can liberate yourself, then it is good already. If everyone in this world could liberate themselves, I would be very happy, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas would celebrate. No need to save people, just save yourself. OK? You can practice one lifetime and be enlightened immediately, for sure. If you follow me and practice the Quan Yin Method, then with all the honors of Heavens and hells, I can guarantee that you will be liberated in this lifetime. Even if you don’t become a Buddha, you will be liberated, understand? At least, you will be liberated. (Dear Master, in the Buddhist Sutra, the Buddha said that bowing to the Buddha is a way to create a good affinity with Him and gain merits. But You said that bowing to the Buddha has no merit. So, do You think that is opposite to what the Buddha said?) No, no. When you bow to the Living Buddha, you have merits, but bowing to the wooden Buddha, you have no merits. Normally, when people say bowing to the Buddha, they mean bowing to the wooden, or bronze statues of the Buddha in the temple, then there is no merit. But when they said bowing to the Buddha, you would gain merits, that was when the Buddha was still alive. Bowing to the Living Buddha, we gain merits, but small merit.When you bow to the Buddha, you have to have faith in your heart. Your action, thought, speech all have to bow, and you have to pray to that Living Buddha to bless you, for you to be liberated, then you have great merit. But if you bow only because you want to have good business, be prosperous, then that is called small merit. But when you bow to the Living Buddha, what you wish for will come true. But if you want mediocre things like having enough food, or to be rich, etc., those things often will bind you more. So don’t bow to the Buddha with such concepts and bind yourself.Now, let me tell you this story. You know why I don’t accept monetary offerings from the non-initiates? Because I don’t want them to have such small merits. Normally, the non-initiated outside people, do not understand my teachings. They only heard that bowing to the Buddha, offering to the Buddha, and they will have money, fame and gain, and benefits from Heaven and Earth. That’s all. [They want things from] the Heavens and the human worlds, but they don’t desire liberation. So, I don’t let them indulge in this concept. So, I don’t accept their donations.Why do you think that I don’t have compassion? No, no, not true. I have more compassion, because I want them to have the concept of liberation. Although they suffer a little, later they will wake up and go look for a Master to learn, so that they can be liberated forever. But if I accept some money, later they will be richer, or in the next life they will become officials and be killed. They are killed by people, they are tempted by money and material things and are pulled into doing sinful things. That is not true helping, not true compassion.There is a story about Empress Wu Zetian, do you know her? Empress Wu Zetian in one of her past lives, offered a handful of sand to the Living Buddha! She heard that He was the Buddha, but she had nothing, so she offered Him a handful of sand. She was a child, and she offered a handful of sand to the Buddha, and in her later life, she was the Empress of all the people of China. But what did she gain? All her life, she was tormented emotionally, politically, and then died tragically in the cold and empty palace. So, what did she gain? So, I don’t let anyone offer me anything. I don’t want to give you that kind of small merit from Heaven and Earth. But I let you suffer, to understand, to have a taste, then you wake up and practice spiritually to be happy life after life. (Hallo, Supreme Master.) Hallo, uncle! (I have seen an inner visions.) What kind of eye? (Physical eyes.) What about eyes? (I saw an inner visions). Inner visions. Yes, yes. (My ears could hear inner Heavenly Sounds.) Ah, congratulations to you. (But they are not clear.) Yes. (Could Supreme Master please show me how to see and remember clearly my previous life? Thank You!) Why do you want to see your previous lifetime? (When we can see, can remember our previous life, then we can liberate ourselves.) Oh no, that is not true. We see our previous lifetime then we… (…can liberate ourselves.) No. If we can see our previous lifetime, then it means we have the magical power called “the ability to know previous lives.” “The ability to know previous lives” is one of the six types of magical powers. (Yes.) “The ability to know previous lives” is one of the six magical powers, (Yes.) that means we can see our own past. (Yes.) And when this body dies, then you don’t have the magical power anymore, then you still can’t be liberated. So, the proof is that Maudgalyayana had six magical powers, but Shakyamuni Buddha always warned him not to use those magical powers. (Yes.) Magical powers can be attained but they can’t liberate you. Only when you know your brilliant Buddha Nature which is never obscured, has no past or future, then you can be liberated. (So, in the Surangama Sutra, it says about “Văn Tu” and “Huân Tu.” “Văn Tu” is listening [contemplating] the teachings in order to practice, and “Huân Tu” is to practice diligently for a long time. So, could Buddha look at me and tell me who I am?) What for to know who you are? (I have to know myself in order to be liberated.) But you have to practice spiritually in order to know yourself. That is better than if I know you. What for? (Yes.) The world has so many millions of people. To know you, just one person, what for? (Please help and tell me who I am.) You are you. (Yes, but have I attained anything? Buddha has opened Your wisdom eye, so You can see it clearly. I thank You and am very respectful, and I don’t mean anything disrespect.) I know that you have respect, but your concept is wrong. (So, what is the right concept?) Because you don’t want to find your insightful wisdom, your great self, but only want to find (Yes.) one aspect of yourself. It is wasteful. (Yes, then please show me.) Just practice the Quan Yin Method, then you will know yourself. I don’t just stand here to show you like that. (Yes, then can Buddha teach me right now the Quan Yin Method, or do You have to show me in private?) I need two, three hours to show you fully. (Yes, thank You, Buddha.) Yes, if you want to. (Yes, may I see You then?) Later. (Yes. Thank You!) Please take him to his seat. (Dear Master, the people who committed suicide, is there a way to save them? Can his [or her] loved one who practices the Quan Yin Method, save the person who committed suicide?) In that realm that is a bit invisible, there are the dharma protectors, similar to the emergency rescue teams on Earth. They specialize in rescuing the people who committed suicide and died suddenly. They will bring back the broken pieces of spirit (consciousness) and patch it together again. Similar to this Earth, we have the rescue teams to bring back the wounded people whose faces are torn, so that they can patch up their faces again. Our body has many layers. There is one layer which is called the astral body, and sometimes it is also broken.The dharma guards who are in charge of rescuing the astral body, will bring those who committed suicide back, and patch them up to be whole again. It is their duty. Those who committed suicide will be rescued but need a very, very long time to be normal again. Because when they committed suicide, their spirit sank to a very low and extremely miserable level. That level is too low, its vibration is too low. And now, if we want to raise that vibration up to the level of human vibration, to the normal level, it is rather difficult. So, it takes a very long time. We have to use a lot of light, a lot of prayers, a lot of love, to put it together, to heal their broken spirit. Then that soul has to be born as human for two, three more lifetimes in order to be as clever as before, or to be a normal person. But people who commit suicide, often get lost in very dark, painful worlds, tormented by their sinking minds. “Everything comes from the mind,” do you understand? So, “When one is sad, no sight is cheerful.” So, for example, when you are broken-hearted, or failed in business, then even if your house is the same, your wife and children are the same, your friends are also the same, but you don’t have the spirit to enjoy it all. That is your own hell. There are other hells that are deeper than that. It means your spirit is sinking even lower. People who commit suicide, often get lost in those realms, which are dark, gloomy, and have no hope, no future light, and it is very hard to save them. Many times, they are immersed in those realms for two, three, four lifetimes, for five hundred years, for a thousand years, depending on the extent of their immersion. Then one day, when they’ve suffered enough, they’ve had enough, then they wake up on their own. Or they have someone praying for them, then they can be saved soon.For example, when you pray, you say “My son died…,” such and such, and ask the Quan Yin initiates to also pray for him. Then the dharma guards will go and find those suicide spirits and bring them to the Intensive Care. So, they will stay in the intensive care for a while. And they will be nurtured by the light until they heal. Then they are allowed to go back as humans again. But if the suicide spirits have no one to pray for them, then they will stay in a low level for a long, long time. Until after a few thousands of years, they become so fed up with it that they suddenly wake up. Because there is no case that lasts forever.

You just practice spiritually, then you will know what the Kingdom is like, and you will see Lord Jesus appear in your meditation to teach you the Truth Himself, and no need for me to teach you. If you want Lord Jesus to teach you, want to worship Lord Jesus, then you follow my Quan Yin Method, then I will lead you to the place where Lord Jesus is staying right now. Then, you can study the teachings with Him, exactly as they are. There are a lot of my disciples who see Lord Jesus and Buddha like eating meals.(Dear Master, if we eliminate the six desires, suppress the three poisons [greed, hadred, and delusion], and practice diligently, can we be liberated?) You are practicing that well (outside), then how can you be liberated? Practicing so hard like that, how can you be liberated? No! That is like cooking sand and wanting it to become rice! The path of a Bodhisattva is the inner path, not outside. It’s not that you keep the precepts, be tolerant and all that, and you become a Buddha. No, that’s not it. If by keeping the precepts, eating vegan, and being tolerant, you can become a Buddha, then the cow-person will be a Buddha long before you.Do you see how much more selfless the cow-person is? The cow-person eats only grass, sleeps outside under the sky. The cow-person only drinks a little water, but gives us her bones, her flesh, her skin, her hair, her head. The cow-person gives us her milk. And her calf, humans kill it to eat. The cow-person practices the way of Bodhisattva that much, but she is not a Buddha. Talking nonsense! To become a Buddha, you have to hear the (inner Heavenly) Sound of Buddha, to see the (inner Heavenly) Light of Buddha, to find the Buddha Nature. If you only look for the outside rituals and customs, the impermanent morals, you can’t become a Buddha. How can you? You look for the wrong way.Just a moment, one moment. Then you can all clap. But to practice becoming a Buddha, you have to have morality, so that you can practice easily and smoothly. Without morality, it is easy for you to fall into the maya’s way. Because if you heart is evil, you do evil things, then even though you have magical powers, but your heart is not kind, then you don’t have a Buddha’s heart, you are not close to Buddha’s heart, but rather close to maya’s heart. So, spiritual practice has to include morality. That’s all. OK? (Dear Master, in our Catholic belief, it says that after we die, we either go to Heaven or to hell, but there is no reincarnation for many lifetimes as in Buddhism. Please tell us which one is right, and which one is wrong. Thank You, Master.) Yeah, OK. If you don’t believe in reincarnation, then why do you sit there and wait for Lord Jesus to come again? Lord Jesus also talked about reincarnation. So, He said He was the incarnation, the successor of such and such Master, before Him. You go back home and read the Bible again. That’s number one. Number two: when Lord Jesus was about to ascend to Heaven, He said, “You should not cry for me. I will send down another [comforter].” “Another comforter to come down and comfort you.” You should know that the one who could comfort Lord Jesus’s followers, had to be equal to Lord Jesus to be able to do it. Or that person has to bring down the spirit of Lord Jesus, the power of Lord Jesus, the authority of Lord Jesus, in order to comfort the people who were the children of Lord Jesus. So, it is a form of reincarnation.But I think in the Bible, they censored many paragraphs. Nowadays, the Bible we read is not complete or is often wrong. The people after Lord Jesus were gone… Because He taught only three and a half years, He didn’t have enough time to teach the people at that time. The people at that time were very barbaric and uncivilized, compared to the people of this century. He preached only three and a half years and imparted the initiation secretly and with difficulty. How could He teach them thoroughly and completely? How could He bring out the essence of what He understood to spread far and wide to the people? So, after He was gone, the people in later generations changed His words and used His teachings to their benefit, to form groups, parties, build temples, and the church, for fame and gain. So, the Bible that we read nowadays, oftentimes has many errors. And now, there are some scientists who research the Bible and suddenly say that they’ve discovered that 80% of what is in the Bible is not what Lord Jesus said. You go home and read the (Los Angeles) Times. Then what? Well, just believe what I say for now.You just practice spiritually, then you will know what the Kingdom is like, and you will see Lord Jesus appear in your meditation to teach you the Truth Himself, and no need for me to teach you. If you want Lord Jesus to teach you, want to worship Lord Jesus, then you follow my Quan Yin Method, then I will lead you to the place where Lord Jesus is staying right now. Then, you can study the teachings with Him, exactly as they are. If we just sit here and discuss about the events of two, three thousand years ago, and argue back and forth from a censored Bible, it will not do us any good.If you want to see Lord Jesus, then practice the Quan Yin Method, it is very easy. There are a lot of my disciples who see Lord Jesus and Buddha like eating meals. Not all of them see these Masters, but if one sincerely prays, and practices to the level where Lord Jesus resides, then they can see Him right away. Then you can learn directly from Him, more fun. Jesus is not dead, so you don’t have to sit there and cry. His human body was crucified, but He didn’t die, OK? He just left His garment behind. For example, if I take this robe off, and hang it on that hook, it is not I being hooked there. I am already out of the robe. (This is a question from an American. What is the difference between Quan Yin Method and TM [Transcendental Meditation] meditation?) Big difference. I teach people to fly to Heaven. OK? Not using the body, using the essence of our intelligence to fly. The eternal essence of our being, the God-like quality, to go back Home. I don’t emphasize on the worldly show and the bodily phenomenon. These are ephemeral. Once we finish breathing, no, no more. Whether you can fly up to the ceiling or not, it's a body thing. It doesn't help you. Well, I'm sorry but... Does it sound critical? Well, if you ask, I have to tell the truth as I know.(Dear Master, everything is one. No one is our parents, our wife, our children, our siblings. So why is it that “when one attains the Tao, his or her nine generations are liberated” but not “everyone is liberated”?) Yeah, because this world we live in, is a physical world. We only have a certain number of relatives, siblings, extended family, and bloodline, in our short lifetime. And the relatives, families, siblings in our other lifetimes are already faded somewhat, erased from the record, burned it. For example, our records in a certain company, they would be burned after five years. They don’t keep them forever. So, the people, the sins we committed a long time ago, we already paid them off. Only the attachments, the sins, the merits, of the five, seven, eight generations are still connected to us. But if you are forced to pay for the sins forever, life after life, from tens of thousands of years, how could you bear it? So, when you sin, you have to pay for it right away, to be punished right away. You go to hell or up to Heaven, to erase your record. What is record in Aulacese (Vietnamese)? Hồ sơ. So, you erase your record and make a new one. That’s why your record is at most, five, six, seven generations back.And the people who were related to us in other lifetimes, who had karma with us, we paid squarely already. They went to be fathers, and mothers of other people, so they have nothing to do with us anymore. So when we practice spiritually, our karma or merit will not affect them anymore. We can only affect the people who are presently our loved ones, our relatives. Even the Buddha only saved the ones who had affinity with Him, do you understand that? Otherwise, the Buddha would have saved the whole world already, no need for you to “become a Buddha to save your nine generations.” Only one Buddha can save the whole world; no need for you to save or not to save anyone. We do need to practice spiritually. That is the problem. Because this is a physical world. OK? That is the law. We have to obey the law. (Dear Master, I really want to practice spiritually, but I still have many worldly things to complete in my life. For example, in the near future, I will be getting married. Is this a big obstacle or can I still get initiated?) No, no. Whoever wants to get married, get married. Spiritual practice is our own hobby, our own entertainment. And whatever our worldly duty, we have to take care of it, no problem. Not that anyone who follows me would then abandon his or her spouse to be a renunciate. No, not true. You can see there are not many renunciates. Only five, six, seven renunciates. Yes, there are more, but not as many as the number of you sitting down there. There are two ways to practice, one is as a renunciate, and the other is at home. You can practice spiritually, and I do not forbid you to get married. It is fun that you’re married and also practice spiritually. Getting married, anyone can do it, even the animal-people can do it. We are different, because we do all these things but also attain the wisdom, then it is fun and perfect. Not that I forbid you to get married. (Dear Master, in the family, if the husband practices the Quan Yin Method, but the wife does not, can the husband be liberated and the whole family also, including the son-in-law and daughter-in-law? Thank You, Master.) Yes, they can. But whoever believes in me, then it is quicker for that person. And the people who don’t believe in me, and even slander me, then sometimes they need extra special blessings from me, to be liberated. Or if other initiates pray for them, then they can be elevated. When we say five or nine generations will be liberated, we mean everyone within those nine generations are liberated, but not all of them have ascended. Sometimes, one or two sank below for a long time.Do you remember the story of Maudgalyayana? He studied with the Buddha and was one of His foremost disciples. One of the outstanding disciples, but his mother was in the uninterrupted hell (or Avici hell). No one could save her. Later, he had to beg the entire sangha to help. The sangha, including the renunciates and the laymen, men and women, all gathered to pray for his mother. Only then was she saved. Do you know that if one followed the Buddha, his or her five, nine generations would be liberated? Yes, they did. Otherwise, when Maudgalyayana went down there, he would have seen his uncle, his aunt, his siblings, his sister-in-law, his brother-in-law. But why did he only see his mother? Because all the others had already ascended, except his mother whose karma was too heavy. When she was alive, she slandered the Buddha, she harmed the monks, cooking dog-people meat to feed the monks, but she did not believe in the greatness of Buddha Nature, so she denied her own Buddha Nature.So, her own Buddha Nature could not save her, because she denied and thought she didn’t have Buddha Nature. That’s why it was so difficult to save her, you see? His five, six generations were already liberated, otherwise Maudgalyayana would also have seen his father. Why did he only see his mother? So, it’s obvious that when one followed the Buddha, his or her five, six, seven, eight, nine generations would be liberated. You see that? So, whoever believes in me, or doesn’t slander me, are liberated at once. Just do not slander me, otherwise, they will have to wait for quite a while. Understand? OK.

If you want to learn to become a Buddha or a Bodhisattva, then you have to come down to this school, which is this Samsara world. In the universe, it’s arranged like that. This is the school that teaches you to be a Buddha, a Bodhisattva. So now, if you want to learn, then go register, so you can practice the Quan Yin Method right away. (This is a question from an American. If eating vegetables better than eating meat, in Your opinion. Why did God put animals on this Earth for? Don’t tell me that they are on this Earth to grow up and look pretty.) In the Bible, there is an answer for you, already. “I made the animal-people to befriend you, to be of help to you.” God already told you what Hes made animal-people for. Why do you ask me what Hiers work is? You should ask Hirm why Hes made the animal-people? Hes doesn’t say, “I made animal-people for you to eat,” anyhow. If Hes made them for other purposes, I don’t remember Hes said, “I made animal-people for you to eat.” Hes said, “You can rule over the animal-people. They will be your helpers and friends.” And Hes also said very clearly that all the herbs in the field, all the fruits that look pretty to the eyes and beautiful to the taste, these are your food. So that’s clearly animal-people are not our food. What else can I tell you except what is in the Bible? The American asked me if I think eating vegetables is better than eating meat, then why did God create these animal-people? He also said that I should not answer him that God created those animal-people to beautify the Earth. He tried to muzzle me, you know? So, I said, “In the Bible, God said clearly to us what God created the animal-people for. So, why do you ask me?” I reminded him that in the Bible, God said that Hes created the animal-people to be our friends, to help us. Right? Even though he didn’t believe that God created the animal-people for other purposes, then I said to him that I don’t remember God said Hes created the animal-people for us to eat them! God never said that. I didn’t see that in the Bible. So, even if we don’t know the purpose, we still know that it is not for us to kill the animal-people to eat. Because God also said very clearly. “I give you every seed-bearing plant that is upon all the Earth, and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit; they shall be yours for food.” Right? (Dear Master, in the Buddhist Sutra, it says to recite “Amitabha Buddha” to practice the Pure Land Method, then when we die, we go to the Western Paradise. So, if we practice the Quan Yin Method, then when we die, where will we go? Please explain.) This is a secret. But it’s all right. We are relatives, so I will tell you. But I wasn’t supposed to tell you. Because I am not sure you will believe me. How come you believe in going to Nirvana, but do not believe in going to other Worlds? Nirvana was the story which Shakyamuni Buddha told about two thousand five hundred years ago, and you always believe it, but what I am telling you at this moment, you don’t believe. The Western Paradise is nothing yet. There are many other worlds that are even more beautiful, more magnificent. But if you want to go to the Western Paradise, I will give you a ride. Since I pass by that way, I will take you there. But there's nothing to fear. I can give you a lift. Many of my disciples could run up to the Western Paradise and come back, like going to the market. The Western Paradise is very close to us. There are many worlds farther, but more beautiful, more glorious, where you can never reach, and Shakyamuni Buddha never talked about it. So, do you want to go there or not, and I can let you hitch-hike? OK. (Dear Master, there is news that Maitreya Bodhisattva came down and became a Buddha in Âu Lạc [Vietnam], and preached the Buddhist Dharma. If it is true, then Âu Lạc [Vietnam] will become the Holy Land, like India. Please let us know whether this news is true or not? May You always be peaceful and have eternal wisdom, to lead Buddhists around the world during the Dharma Ending Age.) It is Maitreya Buddha’s business. Why are you asking me? Each person does his or her own business, why ask me? If you know who Maitreya Buddha is, then you follow, study, and find out whether it is true or not? Why are you asking me? Now, if Maitreya Buddha already came down, how would you recognize Him? Would He bring down His fat belly and naked chest for you to see? And then He would write the word Maitreya here for you to know? Now for example, if you know someone who is Maitreya Buddha, even if I know Him, and I say yes, yes, yes, I found Him. Here, here is Maitreya Buddha. Would you believe it? I am not so sure you’d believe. OK. That’s number one.Now, let me explain to you what ‘Maitreya’ is? ‘Maitreya’ is from ‘Matrayda’ in Sanskrit, meaning blissful, happy. Anyone who has a joyful spirit, has inner joy, is ‘Maitreya.’ That is the disciple of Maitreya, the manifestation of Maitreya. Anyone who can teach you the way to have inner joy, to rejoice in spirit, that is Maitreya Buddha. Otherwise, where could you find Him? Just practice the Quan Yin Method, then everyone will become Maitreya, no need to go find Him. (Dear Master, in Buddhist Sutras, it says that in hell, there are devils who torture the dead, like cut their tongues off, push them into boiling water, into burning fire,) Terrible! (or let tiger-, leopard-, snake-people bite them. Is it true or superstition?) Yes. It is true. Where does this kind of cruelty, persecution come from, do you know? It comes from the heart of those who do evil, think evil and speak evil. When you open your mouth and say something evil, and if you have the “wisdom” eye, you can see a poisonous serpent-person coming forth from that mouth; if you do some evil act, then there is a tiger-person manifested; if you think evil thoughts, then the lion-people come forth. So, those things are saved for that kind of special world, waiting for the ones who were the parents of those serpent-, tiger-, and lion-people to go down there and enjoy family life with them. It is a so-called reunion. If we create them, we must nurture them. If we can’t nurture them, then they bite us, tear us apart, punish us. That is true. Those devils are created by their evil hearts, not by Heaven and Earth. Hell is real. The torment of conscience is sometimes even more painful than hell. They were created by the torment of conscience. (Dear Master, when we sweep the floor, wash the dishes, we kill a lot of ant- and insect-people. What can we do? Do we sin or not?) Yes, you sin a little. If you want to avoid sin, even it is small, you should keep the house clean, wipe all the grease, and clean the stove right away after cooking. Don’t leave the stuff out, but put them inside a sealed container, put left-over food in the fridge. If your house is clean, hygienic, then ant- and cockroach-people will not come in, then your health will be better and better. If your house is messy, then it doesn’t matter how many times you spray (repellent), they still come in. (This is a question from an American. I’d like to be a vegetarian, but how? I’m a student and there is no time to select what I’m going to eat.) That’s bad. It’s difficult. Why don’t you cook yourselves? Buy a cookbook and experiment some new dimension, or buy a survival in the 21th century and eat raw. There are many things you can choose. I understand that being a student is very busy. But I was busy at one time, when I was working for the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees. I had no time at all. From 7 o’clock in the morning to 11 o’clock at night, every day. So what I do is, when I have time, or at night, when I come back, I cook. I cook once or twice a week. One big pot of all kinds of sautéed vegetables inside. And one big pot of rice. And then I warm it up every day from the fridge, the amount I need. And when I finish it, I’ll cook another pot. The big pot is full of proteins, vitamins, greens, iron. All kind of things I throw it inside. That’s how I live until now. Otherwise, I would have died. I’m a vegan, you see? And when I was out, I buy some vegan sandwiches or things like that, nuts, and fruits. These are enough for survival. Actually, we don’t need that much. Once we practice the Quan Yin Method, these small things will also come our way. When there is a will, there is a way. I’m happy that you have asked. That means you are truly sincere and interested. Otherwise, you are not, you would just “Ah, I know it’s impossible. I cannot.” You know, you don’t even give me a chance to help you. So that’s very good that you asked. It’s very easy, and also Vegan restaurants are plenty. Also, you can get in touch with the Aulacese (Vietnamese), how to say, fellow practitioners. Some of them cook vegan food and deliver it to your house, and very cheap price. And if you’re a student, they’d probably make it even cheaper for you. Just to help you, they are helping each other nowadays. Is that not so? OK. Thank you very much. They will help you. You ask the… You contact the responsible person here and you’ll have plenty of food. You don’t eat enough. You probably… How to say? You can’t eat them all. They will feed you.He said he is a student who has no time and no menu selection [to eat vegan food]. Then I said, that in the past, I was also very busy. I was working for the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees from seven am to eleven pm each day, so I did not have time either. Sometimes, when I came home, I cooked twice a week, or once a week. I cooked a big pot with all kinds of nutritious things in it. Each meal, I took a little from the pot and added some rice and then I reheated it. I also ate fresh fruits and vegetables and that was enough. When going out, I bought a sandwich, and also ate fresh fruits. Or I ate nuts such as peanut, or walnuts, they are also nutritious. Then I drank vegan milk and ate vegan cheese. Then, I could survive every day. But I didn’t die. Then I told him to contact some Aulacese (Vietnamese) who cook vegan food, and order from them. If he has little money, then tell them you are a student, then they would cook cheaply for you. They don’t aim to make money, but to help initiates, so they will help you. Don’t worry. Isn’t that right? Or am I lying? (Yes, it is true. True.) (Dear Supreme Master Ching Hai, the Buddha said that life is a sea of suffering. Why can’t we discard this body, and practice spiritually with our soul in other realms?) Yes, you can. But practicing in those realms is slow. When you are suffering, you want to practice. When you are happy, who wants to practice then? One practices spiritually to be happy. Too much suffering, so we practice spiritually to have less suffering. Don’t think that wanting less suffering is greedy. No, no. It is the right of humans. Don’t let others intimidate you, saying that “being a spiritual practitioner, why do you want to be happy, why do you want to be rich?” No. If you want to, it is OK. It’s your right. It is the basic human life. We are supposed to be like that. It is not greedy. It is not that we desire only wealth and happiness, but we also want to be liberated forever. Then, that is correct.Because if we want to be rich and stay here forever to enjoy our wealth, then it is limited. So now, if you want to practice spiritually, you have to stay in this world. It is the best. Because here, you have a school. For example, if you want to study medicine, you have to attend medical school. If you want to study engineering, then you have to attend an engineering school in order to learn. If you want to learn to become a Buddha or a Bodhisattva, then you have to come down to this school, which is this Samsara world. In the universe, it’s arranged like that. But now you want to learn to be Buddhas or Bodhisattvas, but you attend the school teaching you to be demons or to be angels, or some small gods in other worlds, then you learn the wrong way! This is the school that teaches you to be a Buddha, a Bodhisattva. So now, if you want to learn, then go register, so you can practice the Quan Yin Method right away.

So, hearing the voice of God is hearing the “Word,” the “Holy Word” that is mentioned in the Bible. It is said many times in the Bible. When seeing God, God is like a big ring of Light, a ring of fire, see? Brilliant Light, it is called the fire. In ancient times, human vocabulary was poor. People said that they saw God as a great fire. They heard God as thunder, lightning, the sound of big ocean waves. So, when you get initiation, you could hear these (inner Heavenly) Sounds, see these (inner Heavenly) Lights, that is seeing God, hearing God. Brahma Sound. What is Brahma Sound? “Phạm” is Brahma. Brahma is the Hindu word for God. So, hearing the voice of God is hearing the “Word,” the “Holy Word” that is mentioned in the Bible. It is said many times in the Bible. When seeing God, God is like a big ring of Light, a ring of fire, see? Brilliant Light, it is called the fire. In ancient times, human vocabulary was poor. People said that they saw God as a great fire. They heard God as thunder, lightning, the sound of big ocean waves. So, when you get initiation, you could hear these (inner Heavenly) Sounds, see these (inner Heavenly) Lights, that is seeing God, hearing God. It is not against the Tao, but is according to the Tao. (Dear Master, according to the preaching of the Gospel, after Jesus died, He came back to life. But the Buddha died, He was gone. So, the Buddha could not even save Himself, how could He save other sentient beings. Please comment on the above comparison?) Wow! How bold! Now you dare to criticize Buddha even. Too much! We are not equal to Buddha to dare to criticize. I admire you. Who is it? Stand up please, so that I can admire a little! How do you know Buddha did not rise again? No, no one, do not look, he does not dare stand up. This is a straw hero only. Dare criticize the Buddha, but dare not stand up. It’s OK. I forgive. Let me tell you this. At the time the Lord rose, we were not there to know if Jesus had risen up. And when the Buddha rose, we were not there to see it. Why are you talking nonsense? We can’t even finish talking about the current matter, why talk about things two thousand years ago? Forget it! Jesus and Buddha resurrected, what does it mean? Jesus and Buddha live forever. Neither dies at all. They live in our hearts, live in our reverence for Them, live in the practicing of Their teachings. That is your life.Jesus cannot die, Buddha cannot die! Nonsense! They left this world to go to another world, more glorious and dignified, more worthy of Buddhas. That’s all. But it’s not that the Buddha or Jesus chose to go for a rest. It’s just this world only had affinity with Them for a while. You cannot keep Them here life after life, so that you can crucify Them again and again, or so that you can berate Them two or three times a month.When Their affinity was up, They went back to Their Home. Now, even if you beg, They won’t come down again. Even if you light incense and worship for a thousand years, they won’t descend again. Then others, who have compassion, have affinity with the people here, in this country, in this world, in this generation, will come down to save those people. Jesus and the Buddha never died. Talking nonsense! (Dear Master, thank You very much for giving this lecture today, for teaching us the truth about being human. However, there are some young teenagers who follow Master. So, how to ensure their education and career at this age? Can Master secure the future for these disciples?) 100% guaranteed. For example, these people were already out of school before they followed me, not that they quit school after they followed me. People can learn all they want to learn. Many times, what you learn out there for a hundred years, is not as good as what these people learn from me in one day. Don’t compare... don’t use your ordinary brain to compare the value of things which you cannot compare. For example, all the young people who are standing in front of you, they are following me, they have nothing, their future has nothing... but they are still living very happily. Do you see anything different?This child, for example, follows me and still goes to school as usual. If you want to go to school, I let you continue your schooling. If not, I won’t force you. I'm liberal. You do anything you want. If you want to go to school, [and don’t have money], then I will give you money to continue your schooling, or if your family has money, then they let you continue your schooling. You can be a renunciate and a student, you can do two or three jobs. You can do two, three jobs so that you are less bored. If you just work on the same thing over and over again, you would be bored, how can you bear it?I truly admire myself. I am doing the same thing again and again and not getting bored. This is admirable. I do so many things, yet the world is still so boring to me. There is nothing worthy for me to be attached to, to desire, to enjoy anymore. And you do only one thing in a day. Everyday, you are going in and out [the house], seeing just one wife or one husband, and still can bear it. It’s really admirable! I wholeheartedly admire you. (Dear Master, how will Buddhism keep pace with the advancement of human technology and civilization?) True Buddhism teaches people to find the limitless source of wisdom. Once you have found it, you can resolve every issue quickly. Then how can it not be in accord with humanity?For example, sometimes, Shakyamuni Buddha was way ahead of humanity. It’s humanity that can’t catch up, not that Buddhism can’t keep pace with the progress of humankind. For example, when Shakyamuni Buddha was still alive, He said, “In a glass of water, there are tens of thousands of bacteria. There are tens of thousands of beings in it,” but no one believed Him. Because we look at the glass of water with our ordinary eyes, and it seems so clear. Nothing is in there. Now, several thousand years later, science has proved that it is true. There are always bacteria in the water. See that? The Buddha leaped tens of thousands of years ahead. It’s humanity that cannot catch up, not that Buddhism must catch up with humanity. You said the opposite!For example, now the ones who follow me to practice the Quan Yin Method, not talking about becoming a Buddha, not talking about Master, but the things they know, it would take the scientists many dozens of years and still they couldn’t catch up, right? What we know, they do not know. But we keep it to ourselves. Because if we tell them, they do not understand, and do not believe. If the scientists believed, they would all follow me to practice. Then, one day, we could fly to the moon just like going to the supermarket. Why make rockets that cost tens of millions of dollars, and keep falling down like that. Bad job! (Dear Master, do You believe or know that there is an all-powerful God?) Yes, I believe, and I know that very well. I know more than you do. I know more than anyone who says they believe in God, worship God and say that there is God. I know more than anyone who advertises cake and never eats the cake. OK? I know God more than you know yourselves. That’s why I’m so happy.I meant that I truly know God, know that God is real. And those people who are advertising out there, saying that we must believe in God, worship God, pray to God, they only advertise the cake, but have not eaten the cake yet. But I already ate the cake, I know who God is. So don’t ask me whether I believe in God or not. I believe in God the most, because I already know God. How could I not believe in Hirm? I know that there is an absolute great power always taking care of the world. OK, OK, good. Come on, cheer up a little! (Dear Master, when can I be initiated?) This afternoon if you wish, after the lecture. This afternoon, someone asked when he can get initiated? I said this afternoon, after I finish the lecture. Any of you who want to get initiated, then go ask the initiation team, and fill out the form.If there are precepts that you don’t understand, or anything you don’t understand, then ask them [to explain] carefully. Don’t assume anything, and don’t be afraid of nonsensical things. If you do the right thing, don’t be afraid. You get initiated, even though later on, you don’t understand, and you make some mistakes unintentionally, you will be forgiven anyway. So don’t be afraid of nonsensical things. For example, in the past, when I was not a nun yet, I heard that there were several hundred precepts. I thought that I would fall into hell right away. But then I thought again, that according to Buddhism, the renunciate is the most noble, and he or she could save all other people. Well, I just went ahead. If I fell into hell, only I myself would suffer, so it didn’t matter. But in case I succeed, then countless people would benefit. So I closed my eyes and proceeded.All the precepts and conditions are sometimes only a test of your sincerity. If you stand there trembling, Buddhahood would be difficult to attain. To attain the Truth, we don’t even mind dying. Shakyamuni Buddha even cut His flesh from His bone life after life, and He could do it for eternity. Just a few precepts, that you can eat some ‘phở’, and replace those pieces of beef with pieces of tofu. So, it is not a big deal. You could even flee the country [bravely], then replacing meat with tofu is so easy. Why not? So easy. (Dear Master, I did not get initiated yet and have never met You before, I only know You through my sister-in-law. But every time I think of You, suddenly my tears just flow out and I miss You a lot. Once I saw You in my dream, and You were enshrouded completely by a foggy cloud, like smoke, was it a halo?) No! That was not a halo. It was my car. I rode on a cloud! It’s true. Sometimes, in higher realms, we use clouds as the means of transport, or use lotus flower to support our feet, or no need for any support, depending on where it is.Descending to the low level as in the vision that you saw, I had to use the cloud. But in the higher realms, we do not need to use anything. Sometimes, in the Buddha Land, a lotus flower is used, but in the higher realms we don’t use anything at all. Going to the lower realm, we use the clouds. That realm is low, so there is nothing to ask about, it’s not that high. How can a halo be foggy! The halo should be bright, not foggy. Because that realm is foggy, so you couldn’t see anything at all. (Dear Master, how can we sit in meditation properly?) The best meditation technique is not sitting in meditation. But not yet. We have not achieved the level of no-meditation, so we have to practice the so-called meditation. At the moment of initiation, I will show you. If we talk about it here, it will take several hours. We don’t have enough time! If you want to learn, you should learn properly. If I talk for just two or three minutes, and then you go home and sit incorrectly; you would be possessed, then don’t blame me. You must eat vegan food for the mind and heart to be pure. Then when you sit in meditation, it won’t be shocked, won’t have the side effects. Sitting wrongly, you could become crazy, then say that the teacher is not good. (Dear Master, I heard that You talked at the United Nations about the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees in Hong Kong. Can You share the result with us? And if I want to help a little bit, please tell me the [instructions].) I’ve said it already. I’m proceeding on that matter. After lecturing, I have to go to see more people, then I would go here and there to talk, go to many countries to do the procedures. Or to beg for people who were denied refugee status. Otherwise, what else is there to say.In the world now, Aulacese (Vietnamese) only live in several camps in Asia. The total number of Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees staying behind now is 125,000 in scattered camps. Now, if I could sponsor all 125,000, I’d do so. But now it is a temporary emergency because they’re committing suicide to fight back. I have to save those being denied the right to asylum first. For those who have already been accepted as refugees, no one can evict them. So, I just let it be for now, and gradually take care of it later. We took care of the urgent people first; those who were refused refugee status now is over tens of thousands of people. They have accepted ten thousand already, just several other thousands of people, it’s like nothing. Accept them all. If I can take care of this, I’d be happy. No matter how many were refused, we’ll take them all, it is good already, understand! But there is still a lot more work to do; I’m not saying it’s so easy. They accept. They have already accepted; they wrote me a letter that they accept. But there are many things to do. There are many obstacles to overcome. What I’m doing is not easy. It’s not just to rescue refugees, but against a whole regime.

Sometimes, I come up to the stage but don’t know what to say so that you can understand that extremely vast wisdom. We call it Buddha, Bodhisattva or Heaven, or God, and that is inside you. You can call on it to work for you anytime. You just have to know the way. And I will show you the way at the time of initiation. You’ll be shown not by words, but in the invisible way.Humans have such a great wisdom, a very strong will that nobody, no deities, no ghosts, no demons can penetrate. Unless we don’t recognize our greatness and let it become weak. We believe in superstitious things. We think that the demons are better than us, then they can possess us. Because we allow them to do that, we say that they are better than us, we’re OK. But if we don’t allow them and say, “I do not accept that.” Just say in your mind, “I don’t accept that. I am a noble person. I have Buddha Nature.”Buddha Nature is the noblest in this universe, no demon can possess you. Even Buddha can’t possess you, let alone a demon. So, if you are suffering, or possessed by a demon, having non-sensical thoughts, being depressed, all of that is due to your own making. Nobody else did it. So don’t sit there and complain that God is unjust, the Buddha is not compassionate. It’s you who are unjust to yourself, not compassionate with yourself, because you don’t understand who you really are. So, I invite you to come to understand who you are, if you want. Just replace a few pieces of meat in the Phở with a few pieces of tofu, it’s not so difficult.Why eating the meat, bones and blood of other beings, and then later having to pay a debt with our own body and blood? This everyone knows – repaying favors and seeking revenge. We don’t want anyone to peel our skin and cut our flesh, then why do we do that to other beings? And we know that they are suffering, not that we don’t know. For example, if you don’t know that the animal-people are suffering, then it maybe OK. But you know! Do you? (Yes, we do. Yes.) Yeah. This side knows, but the other side doesn’t? Don’t you know? (Yes, we do.) Later on, after initiation, you meditate every day, then your soul will calm down. So, forget all the wrong conceptions, all the worldly lessons, then you will discover that you can do incredible things. Don’t think that I save you or anything. You are saving yourself. For example, you have an accident or encounter some problem, and you say, “Master, please help me!” and then you will be saved? You think that I’ll run over there to help you? You save yourself! You wake up your infinite wisdom. But because I have the connection with your infinite wisdom, you look at me, pray to me, it ignites your wisdom right away. Because you are in this physical world, if you don’t have a physical bridge, a physical body that connects the infinite wisdom with this physical world through this physical bridge, you can’t have it. So, you need a physical person who is called the Living Buddha.Not that I can do all of these things by myself, do you understand? All of us work together, because we are all one. So when you are calling Master, you actually wake up your own wisdom, your own Buddha to work for you. Not that you call the hands and feet, or call out your conceptions that you learned from this world to work for you. So, it is very effective. It is so incredible and miraculous because this wisdom is incredible, very miraculous. For example, if I stand on one leg, or stand on my head for thousands, millions, billions and billions and billions of lifetimes, to praise this wisdom, I still wouldn’t have enough words [to praise]! You should understand this.How to say disappoint, frustration in Aulacese (Vietnamese)? (Bất mãn.) Disappointed? Ah, frustration. Right. I am frustrated when I have to explain your wisdom. I can never explain it enough. Sometimes, I come up to the stage but don’t know what to say so that you can understand that extremely vast wisdom. We sit there, in silence. Or if I sit here, I am also quiet, or if I sit at home, I wouldn’t say anything to you. I can sit quietly or not, but you have to sit quietly. I don’t say anything to you. Even if I talk or I don’t talk, you still get initiated. But for example, if I talk and you sit there listening, then your ears are listening, so you can’t concentrate on receiving initiation. So, during the time of initiation, I don’t talk. That’s it.OK! I talked too much already. Many hours already. So, I am not beating around the bush anymore. If you think this life is so hard, and this world is hell, then turn it into Heaven. It’s very fast. If you think that you can’t change the whole world into Paradise, at least you can change the world around you, your home, the world which is related to you, to become Paradise, so that you will suffer less. So that you know that human life is very precious. You’re not born just to go to school, to work all day long, and then raise your children, carry your children, your wife, your husband, like those who carry a yoke! Then, you will die with an exhausted body, a ruined spirit. It is not the human being in its true sense.The human being in its true sense has to be like a living Buddha. All of you are living Buddhas. How come you don’t know? You and I are no different. What I can do, you can do the same, if you follow my Method of spiritual practice. It is like science, and whoever studies it can graduate. If you don’t graduate with an excellent grade, then with an average grade. And if not with an average grade, then with a low grade, or at least with a passing grade. It’s still better than those who don’t learn. Even if you don’t pass with an average grade, you’re still more knowledgeable than those who don’t learn. Do you understand? (Yes.)All right, I invite you to learn, beg you to learn. In the old days, to seek the Truth, you had to cross rivers and oceans. You had to beg your teacher, and toil very hard for him for three, four years, before he would give you initiation. Sometimes, he had to see whether you were worthy to get initiated or not. But now, I beg you instead. I beg you, do you want to study? It was a long time ago, and I forgot when it was.” So now, I added, “All the people here are also the chosen ones.” God has chosen us to descend on Earth to bless this world, to elevate this world, to turn it into a great planet, splendid like every other planet in the universe that we call Heaven or Buddha Land. However, because it was a long time ago, you have forgotten, only I remember it. So now, if you want to remember that duty, your holy responsibility, then you follow the Quan Yin Method and you will remember it again. Is it clear? (Wonderful!) To practice the Quan Yin Method is to follow the Method Jesus Christ practiced in the past. Because in the Bible, there are many pages that mentioned about (inner Heavenly) “Sound” and (inner Heavenly) “Light.” For example, on the first page, the Bible says, “Since the beginning of creation, there was this holy Word,” that is “The Word.” I say it in English.“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We practice this “Word,” this holy “Word,” which is “The Word,” which is God. So, if we are in contact with this holy Word, then we are in contact with God. So, how can it be called a betrayal of your religion! And in other pages of the Bible, it says that… For example, Moses. It says in the Bible, when Moses heard the Word of God, it sounded like thunder, you see? That is the (inner Heavenly) Sound, we can hear after we get Initiation. It’s one of the (inner Heavenly) Sounds, but not the only one. In other Bible passages it says that “The voice of God is like the sound of great bodies of water.” The sound of many waters. The sound of big currents, the Sound of the waves crashing on the shore, is basically what it is. The “Phổ Môn” sutra says the same. Practice the Quan Yin Method, then you can hear the sound of ocean waves.

The true ascetic way is that after we practice spiritually, our mind naturally becomes simple, and we don’t desire anymore. The material things are naturally enough, and we don’t need anymore. And so, we feel satisfied. Because as long as we lack something, our mind naturally doesn’t feel peaceful. Then it will demand, but there will never be enough for us.If we think that spiritual practice is the noblest thing in this life, then at least, it has to make the practitioner improve in all aspects, physically and mentally, in speech and action, from the spiritual to the material aspects of daily life. If the more one practices spiritually, the lower their status becomes, the worse their material life becomes, and they have to depend on social support and thus put more burden on society, then how can they make others listen to them? How can they prove that their teachings are correct and beneficial to the public? If we can’t take care of ourselves, how can we help other people? If our own life is not splendid nor brilliant, how can we promise a bright future for those who want to follow us to practice our teachings? Don’t you think so? For example, right now, there are a lot of people starving in Africa, and there are a lot of refugees everywhere in the world. And the world is lacking in many aspects. And now, the spiritual practitioners, for example, follow me, and I am leading them. Now there are many thousands of people following me. If they all renounce the world, become renunciates and go out to beg for alms, then the world will have more suffering, no? The world has to feed the refugees, the Africans, and now has to feed many thousands of my disciples. Do you think it is practical? Is it? (No.) Yeah! So, you know, don’t you? So, I advise that our life is not about suffering and misery; it’s just that we don’t know how to make ourselves happy. That’s all. A worthy human life must have happiness, satisfaction, and have whatever we wish for. Because we don’t know, we think that praying for those things or for a contented life is a sin, and we can’t practice spiritually. No! It’s not like that. That is a grave misunderstanding. There are some spiritual practitioners who practice ascetically and make others follow their examples. It’s because they don’t understand the higher Truth. For example, like that. And so, we feel satisfied. Because as long as we lack something, our mind naturally doesn’t feel peaceful. Then it will demand, but there will never be enough for us. For example, in California, there’s been no rain for the past five years, right? The other day, I went to look at a new piece of land, and it looked so barren. The grass and trees are all dead, and there are no flowers, nothing. And I love flowers, leaves, green colors. And I looked down at the reservoirs, which were the man-made lakes to contain water. They were all empty. They were empty all the way down to the bottom. I saw only a little water left at the bottom. The man was a real estate agent. He was not the owner of the land. He was a real estate agent. He said, “Oh, please make it rain! The trees are all dead! A lot of people are unemployed. Please make it rain.” I laughed and said, “I am not a rain god that commands rain!” But he said, “You can do it! Yes, You can. I am sure You can.” So, he kept begging me all that morning. I don’t know what anyone told him. I just smiled and said, “Let me go find the rain gods and negotiate with them and see what happens. They probably went to drink nectar from Queen Mother of the West somewhere, then became drunk for two, three days and went to hide somewhere to sleep.” And up there, if they sleep for two, three days, it is equal to five, six Earthly years down here. I jokingly said, “OK, let me see where they hid and slept.” Yeah! The real estate agent believed me. He believed and went home to wait for the rain. Then after it rained and stopped, he came to thank me profusely, thinking that I truly made it rain. OK, it rained. That’s fine. At that time, after making a round trip, I returned to San Jose, to the place where I met the real estate agent who sold me the land. Seeing me, he was so happy, he said, “Ah! Thank you, Master, a thousand times. It was raining enough, raining so much, so much! It rained for one week but it’s worth many months!” There has not been such heavy rain for ten years. The rain filled up all the lakes. He drove me to see all the filled lakes. I said, “Congratulations to you. Maybe the rain gods woke up and went to work. They were not being responsible before and didn’t do their duties. Now it has rained!” Then he said, “Please make more rain!” I replied, “You got enough water to use already, why do you want more? All that water... My God! That’s a lot already. And you must remember that not only these lakes are full, but it rained in all of California and spread to the desert areas, such as Arizona. Do you know how much water it was? It was brought from all four seas to here, and the wind had to be very strong to bring in such a large amount of water in three, four days. So, why do you ask for more rain? That amount of rain is more than enough for you to use for the whole year!” He said, “More rain, please! It was such a long time since we had rain, now any amount of rain is never enough.” Do you understand? In California, if it normally rains every day, or every year, it is also… it is called “timely rains and favorable weather,” then he would not crave for rain to such a degree. All the lakes were filled and he still wanted to have more rain. He said, “The more the better! The more the better!” He kept chanting that phrase, like an incantation. He walked next to me, but didn’t ask how I was, or whether the lecture went successfully or not. Instead, he kept reciting “More rain. The more the better.” Why? Because he had longed so much for the rain. Five, six years without a drop of rain, the grass and the trees were all dead. Now you see those hills becoming green and beautiful? Because it was not enough, so people were craving the rain. But in areas that have a lot of rain, people wouldn’t tag along to beg for more rain like that, and they wouldn’t believe that anyone could make rain or wind. So, it is similar like that. In our life, why do we have greed, anger, and delusion? Because we don’t have enough, we have desires. Because we came from a brilliant and splendid realm to this physical realm, which lacks so much, we demand this and that. It’s not that the people are greedy, angry, and hateful. We are greedy, but don’t have enough, so we become angry and upset. When we get upset, our mind is clouded, so we become deluded. Do you see? So, that ignorance is not understanding the root of the work and the insight of our mind, and that is the only sin! From that, it creates all the greed, anger, delusion, hatred, competition, war or invading other people’s land… All due to our ignorance. So now, no need to go to war, no need to fight the communists, no need to argue, compete, or argue about anything. Everyone just practices the Quan Yin Method, then the world is peaceful immediately. But I have to be patient. Because even if what I said is clear, sentient beings have been ignorant for such a long time. What I said is very clear. I understand it very thoroughly, but they don’t. That’s the problem! But having some people practice spiritually and that’s better than none. It is like having one lit lamp is better than no lamp at all. So, if you want to be beneficial to the citizens and the country, to be filial to your parents, to show that you are patriotic and compassionate, then I invite you to rediscover your wisdom. That is all there is to it! The Quan Yin Method helps us re-discover our clarity, our latent abilities, which are unlimited. The other day, one of my disciples asked me, “Master, when did You learn to paint that You can paint so good? Did You study with anyone?” I said, “No. I have never read even one book about painting.” After I started painting, my disciples bought me a book about painting. But I dared not read a lot, because I was afraid that it would influence me. I wanted to paint from my own inspiration, not being influenced by van Gogh or by any so-called famous painters. I didn’t like that. I know it intuitively; I don’t need to study. They bought many books, but I only opened a few pages, and I dared not read any further. I didn’t dare to read the instructions in those books. Because sometimes their instructions are not compatible with my own ideas. Painting has to be natural, to come from our feelings, not from anyone who can teach us. Sometimes one studies painting for four, five years, but still can’t paint any worthy pictures. Then, I told that person I didn’t study nor did I read any books about painting. We have learned many professions life after life. Now we just take it out to use whatever we need. No need to learn again. That’s unwise! Understand? There is nothing you can’t do. It is just that you don’t know where you can get it out to use it. So now, if you want to use your incredible innate ability, there is only one way, that is to practice the Quan Yin Method. I have experienced it and tried it. I have used my own body, my time, my youth, my mind, my own money and time to test it, to play this game. And I won! So, I want to share that joy with you. That’s all. Please don’t think that I “fish” for disciples. Why would I need to do that? I don’t. We are the inhabitants in this world, we are the citizens in this world and in this universe. If we discover anything, like a scientist discovering or inventing some new instrument, then we should let everyone else enjoy it with us. That’s all! Now, if you want your life to be more joyful, happy, prosperous, then you have to practice spiritually. You have to find your own wisdom and your power. Because no Buddha or God can save you. If They could save you, They would have done it a long time ago! Why? Why can God and the Buddha not save us? Because a human is the noblest being in the universe. If the sentient beings don’t want God to come, God wouldn’t dare to come. If the sentient beings don’t want to pray to the Buddha, then He can’t save them. You are very noble and great. God and the Buddha admit defeat. If you don’t allow it, then no Buddha can save you at all, do you see? So please, don’t say that I use spells to entice you. How can I use a spell? If I could, then I would do it for the whole world. Why would I use it only on those refugees?

In the Bible, it says, “Seek you first the Kingdom of God, then all things will be added unto you.” That means all the worldly things will be beneficial for you. In the Surangama Sutra, it says the same thing. After the Quan Yin practitioners see their Buddha Nature, then their worldly affairs are also trouble-free. We can use money for promoting the Dharma, for relief work, for the needy. If we are greedy and use the money for marijuana, drugs, or doing some stupid things, then at that time, money is poison. But when we use money for the right things, for the benefit of others, to make them joyful, happy, then at that time, money is a tonic. Depending on how we use something, then it becomes tonic or toxic. Even the drugs which can cause people to be high (or intoxicated), sometimes can be used in medicine to save people. But if we use it too much, selfishly, then it becomes toxic and harmful to humans, for example like that.So, you see I am doing these things and I’m richer than you. That’s because I do it properly. That’s all, nothing else. In the Bible, it says, “Seek you first the Kingdom of God, then all things will be added unto you.” That means all the worldly things will be beneficial for you. In the Surangama Sutra, it says the same thing. After the Quan Yin practitioners see their Buddha Nature, then their worldly affairs are also trouble-free. Nevertheless, no one listens to this. And then just laments all the time, “Why is my life so hard? Why do I suffer? I work from sunrise to sunset, but can’t pay the debt on my credit card.” The mortgage [for house] is for thirty years. I almost fainted when I heard that. You sit in that house for 30 years to pay off the mortgage! My God! Do you know that thirty years is one lifetime? One lifetime has not that many days, just think about it. From young age to maturity, we don’t have a lot of time to take care of ourselves, do you see? Since childhood, we’re always busy with studying. Then when you grow up, you have to work. And when we’re older, we are sick a lot and die. So, you see, we don’t have that much time to waste like that. Such a waste! You work eight hours, ten hours a day, locking yourself in a four-walled concrete room, so that you can earn many tens of dollars a day, or many hundreds of dollars a day, but it is not worthwhile. But it is OK, if you want to do it, it is fine. However, you should know how to do it properly, to make it less tiring and more beneficial.With our extremely intelligent wisdom, we shouldn’t have to raise a finger, it’s enough to control the whole universe! Lao Tzu called it “non-doing,” “do without doing.” We have to attain that state, to remember again our limitless wisdom; we have to use it for it to work, then it will be beneficial to ourselves, to the country, to the world, to the whole universe. But if we use our little brain, our little computer, to work day and night, then even if we work life after life for many millions of years, the world will still not have enough. The evidence is that you can see all the people in the world are working from dawn to dusk, at least eight to ten hours, or even twelve hours a day. Some people work sixteen or eighteen hours a day: with two, three, four jobs, but still don’t have enough money to spend, and the world is still going nowhere, even though it is a little bit civilized.The more civilized we are, the busier we are. The more civilized we are, the more our spiritual level declines, the more our filial piety decreases, and our family happiness with our wife and children is so-called colder. So, you can see that the work of the world is not beneficial. It is just talking and shouting and making such a big fuss. The whole world is so big, so rich, that one person can raise four, five, six, seven dog-people. Sometimes they raise a group of cat-people, but still cannot save many thousands of refugees. Ah, I am saying this not to criticize people. It is just as an example for you to understand, that’s all. Because if I give other examples, it may not relate to you, and you would not understand well, understand? You see? For many years, they’ve been talking about the refugees, but they’re still stuck there, with nothing moving. But I worked only two, three, four weeks and there are some results right away. Not that I am good and talented, but I know the right way to do things. Now, if you want to do things the right way, then just follow my way. Follow the path I teach you, the plan I give you to work with, then it will be easy. That’s why you see my disciples running after me like crazy. Because whatever I say comes true, whatever I do is right. They know I say the truth, 100%. Many of my disciples are doctors, engineers, intellectuals. So, I cannot tempt them like young kids or teenagers. There are many old women with grey hair and “stones in their brain.” How can I tempt them? They tempt me instead! Wherever they go, they force me to accompany them. Sometimes, I am very tired. Can you imagine that? One person, only one person, has to take care of thousands of people. Wherever I go, there is always someone requesting, pulling, pushing like that. Those celebrities, they are famous, they have a lot of fans, but after they sing, they run away, because they are afraid, they know. But I have to stay, after singing, I have to stay to hold hands, have heart-to-heart talks, until three, four, five, six o’clock in the morning. How can I handle it? Is there anyone who is not afraid of that? I am afraid, but I still do it, because of my selfless spirit.When we have a big selfless spirit, then our wisdom, our power also expands naturally. You should not think that you are a small person, then your wisdom is limited, your power is only that much. No, no, no. This wisdom, it is impossible for you to measure it. This power, it is impossible for you to limit it. It’s just that you don’t know it. You Keep thinking, “Yeah, I only work 8 hours a day. I only know this formula. I can only work on the computer; I can’t do anything else.” No, no, no, no. You can do anything, but you don’t know it. You are too busy, so busy making money from dawn to dusk. So you only do what you already know, and insist on doing just that. So, you don’t know other aspects of yourself. You spend twenty-four hours for one aspect of your life, just for a boring job every day. What a waste! You don’t spend any time to know more about your vast environments in other places. So, you don’t know. That’s the difference between an enlightened person becoming a Buddha, and an ordinary person, that’s all. Understand?Now that you are working a lot of hours a day, you can make some money, sure, but then you spend it all, right? Because you eat a lot, wear luxury clothes, so the money will be gone. I make a lot of money and spend very little. Each day, I just eat half a bowl of (vegan) congee, two bowls of congee; two, three (vegan) spring rolls, then I can survive, and they are cheap. I make my own clothes. See how beautiful they are? Beautiful, but not expensive, because I design them myself. And you wear expensive clothes, but not as beautiful as my clothes. Just kidding. Don’t take it seriously. Because no one praises my clothes, so I praise them myself for fun.So, in general, if we know the right way to work, then everything will be favorable. Do less, but gain more. For example, do you think a normal person can work the way as I do? I have to earn money, teach the renunciates, give initiation, give lectures all over the world, and take care of my fellow countrymen as well. The problem of taking care of fellow countrymen is more complicated than spiritual practice. Even with that, I still don’t feel all that tired. Why? Because I don’t use the mundane power but the wisdom and the power that is already available in the universe. We call it the Buddha Nature or the Kingdom of God. If we use that, then we will never run out of it; we can do everything without being tired. Not to talk about refugee problem, or group meditation, initiation, renunciates, lay persons. If you give me a hundred thousand other jobs, I can also finish them quickly. Those are nothing. Because no one asked, I have no other jobs to do. In politics, we have a president and a parliament to take care of things. To fight a war, there are generals to take care already. To catch the wrong doers, we have the police already. To teach students, kids, we have teachers, professors already. So, it’s good that I don’t have to do those jobs.In fact, whoever practices the Quan Yin Method, their wisdom will come out, they will all have it, naturally. Just like me, I never learned to paint, but now I can paint beautifully. People praise my work. But I don’t know if it’s really beautiful. I think it’s truly beautiful, but I don’t want to praise myself. But I am sure those paintings are beautiful. In the world, there are a lot of painters. Painters are normally poor. But this painter is special. So, in this day and age, it is different. Nowadays, it is advanced.We should not think that spiritual practice is to suffer, to be ascetic, to not eat enough, to not sleep well, to be sick in order to become a Buddha. Which Buddha is that cruel? Which God is that heartless? Tormenting people to make people to become like Them? God must be compassionate, Buddha must be merciful, right? They can’t help people enough, much less torment them. People suffer in life, every day, going to Heaven and hell. They have been ghosts, demons, humans, for a long time already. They are tired, hungry and thirsty. They are exhausted. So, they come and beg for a remedy to save them. And then [Buddha and God] still punish them, make them suffer, not eat enough, not sleep well, wear tattered clothes, and failing at any doing. What kind of Buddha is that? What kind of God is that? Do you understand?So, you should not ask me why I have a lot of money, or why I have to work for money. I have to prove to you that spiritual practice is clear, straightforward, righteous. Spiritual practice is very beneficial for Heaven and hell, for the world. The visible as well as the invisible aspects, all should benefit from it.Because if you are forced to be hungry, will you meditate? Yes, you can, but you sit and think about buns, bread, jasmine rice, right? How can you concentrate to think about Heaven? Therefore, our Aulacese (Vietnamese) people are very wise by saying, “It's no use preaching to a hungry man.” They all say that, but then they force others to be ascetic when practicing spiritually. Nowadays, how can you force people to eat once a day, wear tattered clothes, walk barefooted, beg for food from house to house? They can’t stand it. In this age, it is different. But I think in any age, it is different, it must be...

Whenever we do the things we want, but are harmful to others, then our conscience would hurt, because we go against the law of nature. Then, at that time, we call that karma. Karma is just that. Karma means we do what is regrettable. Then it would be as though we drop a big rock on the path which we walk on, or we swim but then we put up a wall to stop us from swimming. Therefore, it seems like things are not going smoothly. You heard that in the past my family was not very poor. Even though our house looked simple outside, but my parents had money. I remember in the old days we didn’t... When I was little, my mother showed me our pot of gold. She said, “This is our pot of gold, we bury it here. In case mom and dad die, you must know it’s here, OK? Gold!” Inside the house we had gold, but looking from outside, the house was just ordinary. But not anymore, not anymore. Don’t go there looking for it, OK? No more! They sold all the gold, but still not enough to cover expenses. My family now remains very poor and simple. My parents also had to go to work. At that time, I didn’t send them any money. I didn’t. Once in a while if they got sick, they would write me a letter. Then I sent some medicine, that was all. I didn’t use this money to provide for my family so they’d get rich. So, my family is very poor. Now they still are. They don’t even have a television set. Maybe there is no electricity in the house yet. But this past New Year, I sent some money because they needed it. They are too old to work. So I used, how to say, the money that I earned, not money from the public, OK? To send to my parents. Now it’s just enough for them to live comfortably, not to become rich. Ah, because we do not know how to choose the way to live, so we become destitute. My parents were the same! They did not know how to choose. But “no man is a prophet in his own country,” understand? So, I did not go back home to say anything at all. After more than twenty years, and for the first time today, I met my sisters and cousins again. I did not send home any letter to say: “Oh, I am a Buddha now. I became a Buddha already, so you should follow me to study this and that.” No! We should let things happen naturally. When their time comes, they will come to me. Otherwise, I do not advertise.So, among you, there are many people who misunderstood that I tried to entice disciples. No, I did not. Even my own family members, I did not entice them. I did not say anything to them for the last twenty years. Today is the first time they met me again. If you do not believe me, then you ask them. They sit in a group of more than ten people, in the middle. All of them are my family members. They do not know who I am. Much less talk about pulling other outside people into my group. And why did I “entice” the refugees, and not others? The refugees are already extremely destitute, why “enticing” them? As a result, people gravely misunderstood. They talked nonsense. The smart people do not believe them. Because you don’t believe them, you came here and filled up the venue. If you had believed them, no one would have come here, right? Actually, people’s minds have a degree of intelligence; not everyone wants to deceive someone. Therefore, I did not use any magical power, or any extraordinary work in order to influence people, or to so-called “fish” disciples. I used logical and clear reasons in order for you to understand and then you accept it by yourself. You would think “Ah, this Lady said it correctly, I have always thought the same, but I did not know whether it was correct or not.” “Now, I heard what She said, I knew right away. Ah, it is exactly like that.” That means you recognize your own intelligence.I only confirm your understanding, confirm how high your spiritual level is. That’s all. Not that I teach you anything. All the things that I say, you already knew. Therefore, when I say it, you understand. Now, for example, if I talk to a dog-person, can it understand? Or if I talk to a small kid, who has not attained the level of understanding like you, can he understand? Therefore, I teach but I do not teach anything. So, I do not feel proud that I am a Buddha or a Master, or anything at all. But I understand clearly that all beings have wisdom. However, if there is one person whose torch is lighted already, then it can light up other torches that it touches. That’s all. In fact, those other torches already have the fire potential in them. They have the potential to be lit like the one which was lighted already. So, it’s not the lit torch that makes the other torches light. The torches which are not lit yet, already have the fire power inside them, ready to be kindled. Therefore, many people who follow me to study, insist on calling me Master. I just have to accept it, but in fact, no one is the Master to anyone. I only remind you of things that you already know in your mind, but you forget or are vague about it. You do not have the time to sit down and check or confirm what you already know. So now, I travel to give lectures, to show you how to sit still in order to remember what you already know. That's what it is all about. Meditation is like that. Because if I do not show you how to meditate, how to get back your wisdom, the complete wisdom which you already know, then you would be busy with wrong conceptions. You would be busy with making money, with worldly attachments, and then you forget your perfect wisdom. That is all there is to it. Therefore, I am a Master but not a Master. I save human beings but do not save anyone. So, I never let anyone bow or kowtow to me, because that is excessive. Regarding the flowers and fruits, it is because people are sincere and want to welcome me who come a long distance, in order to make me happy. It is like a welcome! That is it. I did not force neither request those (flowers and fruits). I did not want to have such rituals. However, I could not tell everyone that. If I told this person not to buy, then another person would buy, and I did not know everyone to tell all of them. And also, it is their freedom. We cannot forbid them. If people have money, they can buy whatever they want. And they can gift it to anyone they wish. If they want to gift it to their beautiful lady or their lover, then they can do it. If they want to gift it to a spiritual practitioner, they can too.Sometimes, they buy those to give to the tombs out there. It is also OK. They gave these to me. It is similar as giving to the tombstone out there. The tombstone is engraved with such names as Thomas, so and so… They give them to that tombstone. So now, I am sitting here just like a tombstone, and anyone can gift anything to it. Because to the world, I am already dead. Therefore, they give the flowers to me, it is like giving to the tombstones. How come no one dares to laugh at all? Why do you just crack a smile and then bite your lips to hold it back? If you want to laugh, then laugh. It is not a big deal! My God! You live in this world, but how come you lost freedom to such a degree? Why is our life miserable, do you know? It is because we make it miserable ourselves. Dare not to laugh, dare not to cry, dare not to love! You love secretly, and do not let the other person know. Later on, that person gets married, then you sit there and cry. Or later on, that person finds a wife, then you sometimes think of committing suicide even. Stupid! Huh? Why didn’t you say something? What was so bad about that? For example, if you love someone, then you tell that person so. And if that person doesn’t love you, that is fine. Then you know it clearly like black and white, and you go find someone else. You would be stupid to commit suicide, right? So, you need to practice spiritually. You practice spiritually in order to gain the Buddha wisdom, so that you can face daily life, so that you can expand your heart and mind freely, then your life would be happy and rich. Otherwise, each day, you go to work, come home to cook, then go to sleep and wake up at the same time. My God! It is too tiring. There is nothing... We were not born to be slaves like that. Each month, we receive roughly more than a thousand dollars, but we have to lock ourselves inside the cement walls for 10 hours a day! You can sit like that (for 10 hours a day), but if I tell you to sit two and half hours a day, and travel everywhere in the universe, you do not want to! Then what can we do? Then you continue to lament, “Why is life so hard, so dark, so arduous?” It is our own fault. Your life is supposed to be grand, magnificent, splendid, happy. And I can show you how, starting from today. Whether you are initiated or not, you have to live a strong, healthy and happy life. If you wish to have something that does not harm others, and your financial situation or mental state allows it, then you can buy it, you can do it. But don’t sit there and hesitate forever, then the time passes by, and you carry on and suffer.It is our own fault. And if we love someone, you go and buy a rose and bring it straight to that person, and say, “I love you. Do you love me, too?” Or say, “Do you love me?” If that person does not, then you would say, “Good-bye, I’ll go find someone else.” There is no lack of people in this life, understand? You should not think that without that person, you would die. That is stupid. How can you die? You can’t die. The world has many people. We may find someone else who looks more beautiful, is better, more talented than the former one. It’s just that we were in a daze for a period of time, thinking that we could not live without that person. That is not true! This I have tried already.Because in the past, I had a family myself. We were in love. I also loved my husband very much! I tell the truth, please do not laugh at me, OK? Then when I left him, I was very sad. I was afraid that if I left, I would miss him so much that I could not bear it. But I left anyway. I thought that, if I kept staying there and be attached to my personal feelings, then my ideal would never be achieved. At best, we would wash each other's clothes, embrace each other, talk intimately, then we would have two or three children, something like that. Our lives would have a lot of happiness. And that is all we would have. Later on, our hair would turn gray, our skin wrinkled, and we would look at each other quietly, then the grave.Therefore, I said to myself, “Just leave and see if life can be any different.” We had to do something new. It is not that one woman is born to be the same as another woman. Then why should we live as ordinary women? Why do we do the same as everyone else? There are enough women who do that already, why should we squeeze in and ask for the same job. Just like a home which is already crowded, why should we force ourselves into it. There are so many women as housewives and mothers already. Let them do that. We find something else to do, understand?In this life, it is similar. For example, if you want to do something, you put all your effort, all your mind, all your emotion into it, then you will surely be successful. When we are successful, we are happy and satisfied. Otherwise, if you are hesitant and indecisive, you just sit there and let the time pass by, blaming yourself and others and crying, then you would gain nothing. You waste a whole lifetime and make yourself miserable.So, starting from today, whatever you want to do, just do it. But you have to see if it harms anyone. Not that we can do the things we want, if it harms others. Then it is not OK. That is what I mean. For example, if you want to be rich, to have a beautiful wife and good children, those things are not sinful. You are supposed to have them. You should have a big family with a lot of relatives, a big house with many cars, a luxury life. And you should not be tired when you are working.For example, I go from place to place, board a plane, get out of a car, run to this house and that house. And sometimes, I talk to my disciples all night long, until five or six am before going to rest. Then the next day, I continue to lecture until three, four, five, six, seven am, or pm. Then give initiation until seven, eight pm, then board a plane to go to another place. The next day, the same things happen. k or eat very little. But I do not feel anything, I do not feel tired. Sometimes, I am tired… for example, if the weather is cold…The other day, my cousin called me on the phone and said, “Sometimes, I see You coughing, so did You take some tonic?” I answered, “No, I did not.” Occasionally, my disciples see that I am too tired, so they give me something to drink, something that I do not know. They give me a straw to drink; it must be a tonic. But I only drink it once in a while, only when I travel for a lecture tour. For example, like today, after three, four, five days in a row, then my voice becomes hoarse, so they gave me some tonic. Otherwise, I do not take [any tonics]. From the morning till now, I ate a little bit… like half a bowl of congee, only that. Each day, I have something like that, but I work a lot, sleep a little, but I do not feel anything. I do feel a little, but compared to you, it is not the same. You have only one job, two or three children, only one husband or one wife, but you are tired, right? You work from dawn to dusk but the work is still not finished. You have no time to visit anyone, no time to go to the lecture, no time… to practice spiritually.Then how can I have time? I practice spiritually and at the same time, take care of the initiates, teach the renunciates and the laymen, teach this country and that country, and take care of the refugees even. But I still have time to practice spiritually as usual and am still healthy. And you do a little work. But I still have money as well. I have money, I do! If one practices spiritually and becomes poor, then who wants to practice? Is it correct? If we practice spiritually and become a beggar, then why do we practice, right? Money is not a bad thing. If we do not need money, then we save it for something else.

We can’t see all the planets in the universe, let alone all the mysteries of Heavens and Earth which are not visible to the physical eyes. They do exist but in different dimensions that our eyes cannot perceive. So now, the only method we have is to use our Buddha Eye, which we call Heavenly Eye. How do you use it? Where is this Eye? Ah, that’s the duty of the so-called Enlightened Masters. They will show you where to find that Eye and how to use it.In order to successfully listen to the Dharma, as the brother said earlier, we must give up all our prejudices of what we think are right or wrong. Because in this world, except for the wisdom of Buddha and God, there is no one who can confirm what is right, and what is wrong. For you, this is understandable. Sometimes, what is right or wrong is only relative, not absolute. Except for the ultimate Truth of God or Buddha, there is nothing absolute in this universe. As you know, those scientific proofs, sometimes they’re 100% right, but the next day, they’re wrong, is that right? Or someone else proves the other argument, does another experiment, then we see that it is wrong.A few hundred years ago, when our country was still under the monarchy system – when King Tự Đức reigned, one highly learned scholar named Nguyễn Trường Tộ, was appointed to study abroad in France. You already know this. I just repeat it to prove the relativity of this world. So Nguyễn Trường Tộ was sent by the king to study in France. When he returned to Âu Lạc (Vietnam), he reported that, “Europeans are very civilized. Lamps burn upside down, yet the lamp oil doesn’t spill. Cars moving on the roads don’t need horses to pull. Water comes out from the wall.” Just incredible things that never existed in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) before. Because in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) we used to light oil lamps. It had to stand upward to light up the room. How could any lamp burn upside down? But nowadays, we see these upside-down lamps because those lamps are electric. However, when Mr. Nguyễn Trường Tộ reported these things, King Tự Đức did not believe it, so he ordered his head chopped off. For what crime? What crime? Offense against the king – implying the king was so stupid that you could deceive him however you like. It’s the gravest crime, and your three generations could be executed! Just one person said the truth, and his three generations were executed, or at least he would be put to death.So, you see how dangerous this world is? He just said a truth that could even be proved, let alone me talking about Heavens and hells. That’s why since time immemorial, they say: The life of an enlightened Master is hanging by a thread. But the laws are very strict these days. So, people’s faith and beliefs are protected to the maximum. That’s why we can give lectures openly like this. In the old times, when Jesus went around to give lectures, it was extremely difficult. He had to hide and gather in secret places, so no one else could see Him. So generally speaking, in any time or era, there are always places where the Truth can’t be revealed. We say, “Heavenly plans cannot be exposed.” But luckily, we live in America where freedom of religion is protected to the maximum. Human rights are respected. Human dignity is valued. So, we can sit here in this auditorium peacefully like this. We’re so blessed. Things are changing everyday. Why? Because we have spiritual practitioners, so the world is getting brighter. I feel the more we go on lecture tours, the brighter the atmosphere of the world is, and the easier it is for us to breathe. That’s why I am invited to go here and there, and sometimes I feel tired, I want to refuse. But I sense the incredible benefits to the people, so, I can’t help but sacrifice some of my physical and mental well-being or personal time. It’s OK. I will make use of this body as much as I can, until it’s finished, until we say “out of gas.” We just throw it away. Otherwise, what to do? This world is crowded; one person’s physical body is limited. It has to break down some day. Like even if you have the best car, if you run it too much, nonstop, one day it will, it will what? We say “the bolts get loose.” The bolts.My bolts are not loose yet, but they’re kind of tired. So sometimes, if you demand of me something that I cannot fulfill, please don’t feel bad. For example, sometimes after a lecture or initiation, I feel very tired already. Still many people want to see me personally to share their feelings, to hold hands together and all that. I refused and they felt bad. But sometimes I was too tired, I had to lay down, so I could continue to work the next day. Therefore, we can’t please everyone. That’s all. Now talking about the problems of this world. Why is nothing absolute? Because our view of this world is not perfect. We can only see one corner, but not the whole view. For example, our eyes, someone with the best eyesight can only see so many hundreds of meters ahead at most. And looking in the front, we can’t see the back; looking to the left we can’t see the right; looking to the right, we can’t see the left. That’s enough to know that our eyesight in this world is infinitely limited and too insignificant. Even if we use telescopes, we can only see a limited number of stars in the Milky Way. We can’t see all the planets in the universe, let alone all the mysteries of Heavens and Earth which are not visible to the physical eyes. They do exist but in different dimensions that our eyes cannot perceive. Just as there are many viruses, or stars too far away, that our telescope can’t even see. Do you understand?So now, the only method we have is to use our Buddha Eye, which we call Heavenly Eye. How do you use it? Where is this Eye? Ah, that’s the duty of the so-called Enlightened Masters. They will show you where to find that Eye and how to use it. Just like someone with experience, they can show you how to adjust your telescope to look far away. Otherwise, you don’t know how. You have it there, but you can’t see very well, right? You have to adjust it, to know how to adjust it, what adjustments to look far, and what adjustments to look near. Something like that. Our Heavenly Eye is like a telescope. It can see far away, infinitely. It can see billions of lifetimes in the past and aeons of lifetimes in the future and countless planets in the universe. Only then do we know all the mysteries in Heavens and Earth. But once we already know it all, it feels like it is our own home, there is nothing unusual about it. We see it as very normal. Two or three days ago, my cousins, after they discovered me, they telephoned and asked, “My God! You’ve become a Buddha, why didn’t You tell me?” “After You became a Buddha, how did You feel? Anything new and different?” I said, “Nothing is new and different.” You get used to it. Just like we nourish a baby every day, and he grows up little by little. We carry him and don’t feel heavy. But people coming from far away, upon carrying him they will feel that he is too heavy. Yes, you get used to it.Becoming a Buddha is nothing new to us. Actually, as real human beings, every one of us should know that we’re Buddha. Otherwise, you think God is that illogical? He creates such beautiful human beings... It takes so much hardship for a mother to give birth to a child. She has to carry him through nine months and ten days with all kinds of illnesses, fatigue, discomforts, in order to bring a child into the world. She has lots of pain during childbirth and no one can help at that time. And after childbirth, it’s a lot of hardship to bring him up. One cough from the child could make the mother sleepless at night. When he has teething pain, both husband and wife are shaken, understand? They’re not happy. Then they raise him for twenty years till he’s grown up. And then what else? And then he would be engrossed in school for ten or twenty years. And then he would be engrossed in work outside the home for some tens of years. And then “engrossed” in the earth. Is that illogical? Isn’t there anything else? Are we born just to bear all these hardships? No. It’s not true.We’re supposed to be born happy, very joyful, very rich, very glorious. It’s just that we don’t know how to find it. We shouldn’t criticize a person for being rich, for having a beautiful wife, for playing games and having fun. That’s not to be criticized. They should be rich, should be happy, should have fun. Their life is supposed to be happy, so they don’t need to crave any more. They should have incredibly beautiful people living with them to brighten up their life and to feel secure, so they wouldn’t have to desire for beautiful people. It’s because we don’t know how to look, we don’t know how to organize our life. That’s why it’s dull and dark, it’s hard, it’s poor, and it’s not comfortable.

“(Not long ago, there was a Chinese Taoist. While meditating, he saw a Bodhisattva standing in the middle of the water pond in front of his house. Above Her were many colorful clouds that formed the words ‘Ching Hai.’ Since then, he intended to look for Master. Unexpectedly, a year later, Master came to China and met him; he immediately asked Master for initiation. He was very delighted and said, ‘Master is an ancient Buddha coming here to liberate beings from the Samsara. If She were not an “Enlightened True Master,” I would not give up over forty years of practice to follow Her.’ There is also a man who was in and out of prison many times. After he went to listen to Master’s lecture 3 times, he went home and told his entire household to be vegan and even his dog went vegan. After that, he asked Master to grant him initiation.)”“(There are countless other inner experiences that we couldn’t imagine could have happened in this so-called material world. Someone saw Master as the reincarnation of Bodhisattva, of Buddha; some saw Master as the reincarnation of Shakyamuni Buddha, Jesus Christ, Confucius, Lao Tzu, etc.)” “(In fact, not only in this world, but in all higher realms, Master helps us all. Where else could we find such a living Master?)” “(Initiation is the moment when Master uses Her omnipotence to erase our eternal ignorance and our eternal karma, or our original sins, so that we are immediately enlightened and see our true nature. From then on, we are enlightened.)” “(A few years ago, Master empathized with the difficulties of Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees in Hong Kong detention camps. She visited them, but at first the camps’ officials refused to open the door. But She and Her monastic group still patiently stood in the sun and waited. Finally, the officials of the camp were touched by Her infinite patience. And the Aulacese (Vietnamese) refugees were graced by Master’s blessings.)”“(While Supreme Master Ching Hai, is dignified, teaches sublime Truths, practices the Quan Yin Method, and has attained supreme enlightenment. She can create Heavens, destroy hells, open our wisdom eye.)” “Please join us in prayer for a few seconds, for the most afflicted in this world and in other realms. Thank you! Ladies and gentlemen! First of all, thank you to the fellow initiates in Los Angeles for their time and efforts in organizing the lecture today. Thank you for spending your precious time on Sunday, despite the long distance and difficult transportation problems, to be here to attend the ceremony today. The United States has been graced on many occasions with visits from Supreme Master Ching Hai. With Her boundless love and compassion, Supreme Master Ching Hai has also provided humanitarian assistance to many parts of country. In 1991, Supreme Master Ching Hai was invited in the United States by sincere Truth seekers to share Her message of the soul’s awakening. “We’re very delighted to welcome Master. We’re very delighted to introduce to you Supreme Master Ching Hai who will give a lecture today. We would like to offer flowers and fruits to Master.”“Next, we will have a few introductory words about Master and sharing of my thoughts after one year of spiritual practice. On initiation day, Master explained very clearly about the Three Worlds and the higher realms, and what pitfalls are expected on our spiritual journey, and how to overcome obstacles. Everything was explained very thoroughly and in detail. After the initiation, Master asked immediately who’d had an experience. It was unbelievable. Most of the people with some humility, or depending on their spiritual affinity, all had some proven experiences. So, it’s no wonder Master used the term ‘Immediate Enlightenment, One Life Liberation’ to represent the Quan Yin Method – a method that all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas highly praised in the Surangama Sutra. During this time, I also got enlightened about the need to reduce the baggage if we wanted to go up to higher realms. After practicing with Master for a while, I felt that my soul was very light, peaceful, and open. Those days that I meditated diligently, I felt my soul blossom with joy. I am so happy to be a sentient being in the cosmos. I love even a bee, an ant. I treasure even a tree branch, a blade of grass.Today, I don’t know how to describe my happiness after being given this ‘precious, Supreme Method’ by Master. Master strictly forbids Her disciples from disclosing their inner experiences to others. But sometimes, to encourage and support people in their spiritual practice, Master allows initiates to recount their experiences in Her presence. Once during a 7-day retreat in Formosa (Taiwan), a sister saw the manifestation body of Master sitting on a very big lotus. Behind Master, there was a circle as bright as the Sun. In each ray of light appeared countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It was just like one of the scenes recorded in the Amitabha Sutra.”

Today, we continue to share with you the wise teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai in excerpts from Her book, “Coloring Our Lives.”“If you don’t think of these negative things, they won’t exist. That’s why I tell you not to watch all those bad movies. Don’t watch ghost movies, and don’t go to see all those mediums. So, try to concentrate all the time on the Buddha, not on ghosts.”“Look at the mass killing that we do every day in order to keep this body for a hundred years. „Aşa cum semeni, aşa vei culege”. Dacă noi producem suferinţă faţă de orice fiinţă în orice formă, direct sau indirect, nu ne putem simţi niciodată nevinovaţi şi de aceea, nu putem fi complet fericiţi.

Fericirea adevărată vine numai din cunoaşterea lui D-zeu, care este esenţa fiinţei noastre. Dar în această lume mai sunt şi alţi substituenţi pentru fericire şi îi putem simţi temporar. Dar fericirea adevărată, n-o putem compara cu niciuna din aşa numitele fericiri din această lume.

Sunt foarte clară cu privire la D-zeu, pentru că El/Ea mi s-a revelat mie în interiorul meu. D-zeul vostru, D-zeul meu, acelaşi D-zeu, numai că voi nu-l cunoaşteţi încă. Eu îl cunosc. Când meditaţi cu metoda mea, îl puteţi vedea pe Iisus singuri şi să-l întrebaţi voi singuri.
