An "ecovillage" can generally be described as a group of individuals who consciously choose to live communally and integrate the concepts of sustainability and ecology into their daily lives. An ecovillage is one pathway to a better future for our planet through self-sufficient communities that support holistic lifestyles. An ideal ecovillage incorporates eco-living and permaculture design principles. An ecovillage is not an escape from our world, but an experiment in a new type of society.
