The Swedish government has contributed US$1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to support 327,000 displaced Iraqi and Syrian refugees living in camps with emergency food assistance and cash distribution. The donation is part of Sweden’s funding of US$91.6 million to WFP for 2022, which will be used where it is most needed. It comes at a time of rising food costs in Iraq. Ally Raza Qureshi, WFP Representative in Iraq, commented, “…immediate food security needs must be met to save lives and maintain peace and harmony.” The contribution also allows WFP to offer job-skills training programs for youth, provide equipment to farmers, help the Iraqi government to implement a school feeding initiative, and improve social protection measures. It was found that of the 57 million people in the database, capturing the period between January 2020 and November 2021, 7.2 million were registered as having had the virus. Of those individuals, more than 460,000 were admitted to a hospital, and over 158,000 died, with the mortality rate initially being the highest among people who received ventilatory support that was not provided by a hospital intensive care unit. Visually impaired Australian boy receives goggles that help improve his sight.
Nine-year-old Ethan Pridham, who is legally blind, was recently gifted a set of high-tech goggles that help him see more clearly, so he can build LEGO and perform other tasks that require accurate vision. The eSight 4 product is worth nearly US$7,000 and was provided by the Royal Society for the Blind, eSight and the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre. Usually, Ethan’s vision is out of focus and blurry, but the goggles utilize “best-match camera and lens technology” to provide him with a clear view. Upon wearing the state-of-the-art goggles, Ethan commented, “I liked how I could see the Lego enlarged.” Thank you, Royal Society for the Blind, eSight and the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, for your generous gift to lovely Ethan Pridham. World Bank to assist Ghana in improving urban services in secondary cities.
Ghana will receive an additional US$145 million loan from the World Bank’s International Development Association arm, to improve urban management and infrastructure in 35 secondary cities, which also include the six new regional capitals. It is envisioned that the increased service delivery and development, including the strengthening of capacity to mitigate and adapt to climate change, will improve the quality of life of Ghanaians. The country’s urban population has grown exponentially over the last decades, and in 2021, more than 56% of Ghanaians lived in urban areas. Ontario, Canada residents help Ukrainian family settle into new life.
Sam Yawney, a golf club co-owner and local of Sudbury, Ontario, has taken steps to give back and support others. He organized the “Day of Ukraine” golf event that raised US$15,500-plus for relief efforts in Ukraine and to help support new arrivals in Canada. The Darievs, a Ukrainian family of five who fled their hometown due to the war, reunited in Sudbury, where Mr. Yawney has opened his home to them until they receive permanent accommodations. Mr. Yawney plans to host more Ukrainian families over the coming year. Else Nutrition’s second trial for its Plant-Based 0-12 month infant formula demonstrated its protein bioavailability, which is important in securing regulatory approval. Made without soy, the food is free from gluten, GMOs, preservatives and antibiotics. Furthermore, the product contains a full amino acid and fatty acid profile, that matches the nutritional composition of breast milk. In 2020, the brand, which also sells vegan cereals and shakes for children as well as a toddler formula, officially launched in the United States. Within six months, it signed with major health and food wholesaler United Natural Foods, Inc., to distribute its specialty toddler formula to 30,000 retail locations across the US. On June 1, 2022, a new rule prohibiting all horse-people-drawn carriages in the capital city of Sofia came into effect. The step was taken as the carts caused traffic disruptions and due to the overall poor treatment of the animal-individuals by the operators. Many were sick or lacked enough to eat. In the event of a violation of the law, the carriage will be temporarily confiscated and returned only when the offender pays assessed fines. At the same time, the horse- or mule-folk will be relocated to the city’s homeless animal-people shelter. An operator can regain custody of their animal-person if they pay the care and treatment expenses incurred during the time with the city. Great news, Sofia, for your noble decision to free equine-individuals from improper treatment. May we respect our precious animal friends with the care they so much deserve, in God’s watchful Gaze.

On January 13, 2022, I got up and went out to earn money to make ends meet. While on the way, I faced a terrible life experience. A group of guys with balaclavas and weapons intended to destroy my very existence. As we arrived in Martissant, 15 bandits hijacked at gunpoint the car I was in and made us follow them all the way to Grand Ravine. These guys were yelling a lot to ask for money. They snatched briefcases, wallets, and everything that was in the car. They beat me because I didn’t have any money on me, and they even told me they would shoot me if I didn’t provide them with a phone number to call for ransom.
But I didn’t lose hope because I knew Master was watching over me. While in the hands of the bandits, I kept humming one of Master’s songs in my heart. I am indebted to Master because I was released at 9 pm that night. I used my wisdom in asking Master for Her guidance and Grace to be saved from these wicked people. January 13, 2022, is a day I will never forget. Without Supreme Master, my life would have been ruined!
Thanks to the meditation and Master’s teachings, I have learned to live with a clean and wise heart. In my mind, I love all that is good for me, and for that reason, I will never tire of expressing my thanks to Master. Everything is blessed thanks to Supreme Master. She teaches us to meditate so that we can live in harmony with each other. I say, “Thank You, Master!” for the Grace She bestowed on me that day as She saved me from these bad guys. Everything is blessed thanks to Supreme Master.
I will proclaim what Master has done for me and what She keeps doing for me. I say thank You, thank You, thank You, for all the hardships She has saved me from. Day after day, She makes me see more clearly what is negative in my perceptions. Day after day, She makes me see more clearly so I can strengthen my ways. That day, when those bandits in Martissant had taken me hostage, if Supreme Master had not been present in my life, I really don’t know where I would be today!
