Future Life Celebration: Choosing Life, Receiving Love, Part 2 of 2

Ms. Rebolledo is also the founder of the non-profit organization Loving Life and was the director of the radio program Amor de Los Amores or Love of Loves. Ms. Rebolledo shares more about the mission of Loving Life. “Being given speaking engagements, educating and giving to girls information that they need – information [about] where to go when they’re struggling or if they were abused. I try to go with them to make the report, the police report, to the hospitals. I especially, I’m just there for them, but also going to schools and going to jails, and orphanages, and just doing speaking engagements, and go to politicians, and just trying to make a difference. And also, my daughter she had a nonprofit as well, and she used to collect diapers and clothes and baby formula, and baby bottles because she wanted to give. She told me, ‘This is why I was born – to give.’ And we used to take it to shelters. In her name I’m still collecting stuff and donate to shelters so they can have the support.”

“Even though I was already helping now and I was going through abortion clinics, already doing counseling, I still didn’t believe in God. I was feeling that I was being helped by helping others, but it was still this resentment. […]” Ms. Rebolledo’s healing continued when a priest shared some valuable insights. “And then he told me, ‘Why you don’t want to get to know God?’ And I said, ‘Because He wasn’t there for me when I needed Him the most.’ And he said, “Have you ever considered that being right here with me is Him telling you that if He wasn’t there, maybe they would’ve killed you?” And I realized how many girls, they don’t come home, and they get killed. And I survived that. And I had this gift, which was my daughter, the greatest love of my life. […] And through this priest, I pray for them (sexual assault offenders). So they wouldn’t do that to anybody else. I don’t think about them anymore. I don’t concentrate my life or waste any time. I just concentrate and praying for people who hurt other people, because there’s so many women that they go through the same thing and they don’t know what to do with all these emotions.”

Ms. Rebolledo shares heartfelt words with those who may be facing these situations. “If they overcome that, everybody can overcome anything; they just have to believe in themselves. They have to believe that it doesn’t matter what they do to you, nothing is going to take away your dignity or who you are. And that doesn’t mean that it’s OK. Nobody has the right to do anything with you against your will. And I want them to know how valuable they are, how worthy they are, and if they are still here in this world, it’s because they have a purpose.”
