On today’s program, we will introduce you to Wally Fry’s daughter, Tammy Fry, who wishes to change the world and its people through the way they eat. Tammy is not only the Marketing Director of Fry’s, she is also a famous vegan blogger, athlete extraordinaire, public speaker, plant-based nutritionist, and the founder of Meat Free Mondays in South Africa and Australia. Tammy is a born vegetarian. "Bacon for a child could be a carrot. I mean, they don’t know that that came off an animal’s body, unless you’ve actually explained that to them. And I think sometimes, giving them the truth about what they’re eating will naturally turn them off.” “I learned really young, that in order to change people, you need to inspire them. So, you have to focus on the solution and show them, that actually, this is a great way to live; you inspire them to change rather. Having being an athlete myself for so many years, doing many hours of training every single day on a plant-based diet, showed me that was actually possible."

In almost 30 years of running a business, Mr. Fry’s role has changed and evolved over time. He generously shared these changes with us. What is the future of food? Mr. Fry explains that there will be many changes concerning the marketing of foods and its consumption in the future. “There’s a couple of bad things going on with food and that’s plastic. And of course, you know, meat and animal products. So, consciousness is growing in the world. And I think that as we get deeper and deeper into this movement or evolution of humankind, supermarkets will change. We will become more natural with everything. We will have less packaging, things will not be able to be transported long distances and therefore have to be in plastic. Things will change and people will stop buying bottled water. I think those things are gonna change without any doubt. There’s no doubt at all, in my mind.”

Earth’s largest tropical rainforest, the Amazon plays an important role in stabilizing the planet’s climate by slowing down the pace of global warming. Unfortunately, however, severe wildfires are currently spreading across this precious region due to the clearing of land for cattle ranching. According to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, cattle ranching is the single greatest driver of Amazon deforestation, accounting for approximately 80% of the total. The way to solve the deforestation crisis and save the planet is simple: end meat consumption. Stopping meat consumption is a crucial action to take in order to save planet Earth.

Today, at the age of 75, Linda continues to wow everyone around her with her astonishing vitality, physical and mental strength, and effectiveness as a certified health professional. Having experienced the liberating health benefits of veganism, Linda never misses an opportunity to share her knowledge. Another initiative of hers is to organize protests and rescue operations for animals. For over 20 years, she worked hard to combat the cruel practices of the Ringling Brother’s Circus, helping to bring about its closure in 2017, after 146 years of operation. She donned a test rat suit to the point of heat-exhaustion demonstrating for SB 1249, the California Cruelty-Free Cosmetic Act, which requires that cosmetics sold in California be not tested on animals, starting in 2020. Thanks in part to her efforts, SB 1249 was signed into law in September 2018.

At the thriving age of 75, Ms. Middlesworth teaches two to three aerobic classes a day, sometimes as many as five, operates a full-fledged health coaching business, oversees the 4,300-member Sacramento Vegan Society, …and amazingly, still has plenty of energy for various social justice causes. In 2015, at the age of 71, she was awarded the top female honor of the animal protection group PETA’s Sexiest Vegan Over 50” contest. Thirty-one years ago, she was 50 pounds overweight, had barely recovered from breast cancer, and was diagnosed with heart disease and thyroid cancer. …It was at that point when Linda found her “Fountain of Youth.”

Ori also shared with us the exciting development of vegan products in Israel. "Even dairy companies and meat companies are joining this revolution. In Israel, you can see that. We have one of the biggest meat companies, they have a whole line of vegan products and they invest profits in cultured meat research." "That is my mission to help people to learn how to cook vegan, vegan dishes simply, happily, tastefully, in their own kitchens."

On today’s program we’ll hear from internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker Mr. Matthew Podolsky, whose works include the 2019 National Geographic documentary, “Sea of Shadows,” and the Emmy-nominated “Bluebird Man.” Mr. Podolsky is also Co-founder and President of “Wild Lens,” a non-profit video production company that is raising awareness about wildlife conservation issues. After his first wildlife conservation film, Mr. Matthew Podolsky discovered a 92-year-old man from Southern Idaho, USA who, over the course of 35 years, had raised more than 27,000 nestling bluebirds.

Even though we axolotls are actually salamanders, some people somehow got into the habit of calling us the "Mexican walking fish." We have a distinct appearance with a wide head, lidless eyes, and a long, tapered tail, as well as four limbs with tiny digits at the ends. The six feathery branches on our head - our most noticeable feature - are external gills for respiration. Probably our most fascinating feature is our ability to heal and regenerate. If we have any nicks or wounds, they will close up without any scar.
