God’s Mercy and Truth is in Everything: From The Guide for the Perplexed by Maimonides (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

God’s Mercy and Truth is in Everything: From The Guide for the Perplexed by Maimonides (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

Let us now continue with a selection from Part 3, Chapter 12, from Rabbi Moses ben Maimon’s book entitled, “The Guide for the Perplexed.” “These words are immediately followed by the explanation that man himself is the author of this class of evils, ‘But man is born unto trouble.’ This class of evils originates in man’s vices, such as excessive desire for eating, drinking, and love; indulgence in these things in undue measure, or in improper manner, or partaking of bad food. This course brings diseases and afflictions upon body and soul alike.” “The error of the ignorant goes so far as to say that God’s power is insufficient, because He has given to this Universe the properties which they imagine cause these great evils, and which do not help all evil-disposed persons to obtain the evil which they seek, and to bring them to the aim of their desires, though these, as we have shown, are really without limit.” “The virtuous and wise, however, see and comprehend the wisdom of God displayed in the Universe. Thus, David says, ‘All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.’” “All the difficulties and troubles we meet in this respect, are due to the desire for superfluous things; when we seek unnecessary things, we have difficulty even in finding that which is indispensable. For the more we desire to have that which is superfluous, the more we meet with difficulties; our strength and possessions are spent in unnecessary things, and are wanting when required for that which is necessary. Observe how Nature proves the correctness of this assertion. The more necessary a thing is for living beings, the more easily it is found and the cheaper it is; the less necessary it is, the rarer and dearer it is.” “In these two ways you will see the mercy of God toward His creatures, how He has provided that which is required, in proper proportions, and treated all individual beings of the same species with perfect equality.”

Dolly Vyas-Ahuja (vegan)- A True Voice for Ahimsa, Part 2 of 2

With her endless enthusiasm, Dolly has become friends with virtually everyone on the who’s who list of the animal rights movement in India and the USA. One person she is particularly close to is the renowned author, environmentalist, social justice advocate, and animal activist Dr. Sailesh Rao, a Shining World Award for Earth Protection laureate, who is also one of the key originators of the Internet as we know it today. “He talks about all this methane that is going into the air. He’s also talking about us chopping down the forests. Now, every 10 seconds, the Amazon forest is being chopped down for animal agriculture. So, animal agriculture is the number one reason for ocean dead zones, habitat destruction, environmental devastation, and these things have to change.” Dolly’s activism has taken her around the world. In India, she delivered a rousing speech at the World Vegan Conference in New Delhi in July 2019, about the harmful effects of dairy. “And God, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Jesus, Lord Buddha is full of compassion and love. They're trying to teach that, do not harm anyone, do not separate a mother and a child. So, I think we really need to understand what God is trying to say. And that is to live with compassion. That should be number one.” Dolly recognizes that dairy consumption is deep-rooted in Indian culture, which is one reason why she is working hard on her documentary film as a way to change the misconceptions in her motherland. “Once people find out the truth of who they really are, which is compassion, they want to change. They start thinking about this deeply. And I think that veganism is such a powerful movement right now, and it's growing so fast, because, if we don't go vegan, we are hurting our planet, and we really need to secure it for our future generations.”

The Apocryphon of John (vegetarian): From the Gnostic Nag Hammadi Library, Part 1 of 2

The Nag Hammadi Library is a collection of early Christian and Gnostic manuscripts, also called codices, discovered in 1945, near the Upper Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi. The general dating of the books varies from the 2nd to the 4th century. The collection includes 13 ancient books containing over 50 spiritual texts. Let us now read from Codex II, “The Apocryphon of John” from the Nag Hammadi Library. “‘He is the invisible Spirit, of Whom it is not right to think of Him as a god, or something similar. For He is more than a god, since there is nothing above Him, for no one lords it over Him. For He does not exist in something inferior to Him, since everything exists in Him. For it is He Who establishes Himself. He is eternal, since He does not need anything. For He is total perfection. He did not lack anything, that He might be completed by it; rather He is always completely perfect in Light. He is illimitable, since there is no one prior to Him to set limits to Him. He is unsearchable, since there exists no one prior to Him to examine Him. He is immeasurable, since there was no one prior to Him to measure Him. He is invisible, since no one saw Him. He is eternal, since He exists eternally. He is ineffable, since no one was able to comprehend Him to speak about Him. He is unnamable, since there is no one prior to Him to give Him a name. “‘How am I to speak with you about Him? His aeon is indestructible, at rest and existing in silence, reposing (and) being prior to everything. For He is the Head of all the aeons, and it is He Who gives them strength in His goodness. For we know not the ineffable things, and we do not understand what is immeasurable, except for Him Who came forth from Him, namely (from) the Father. For it is He who told it to us alone. For it is He who looks at Himself in His Light which surrounds Him, namely the Spring of the water of Life. And it is He Who gives to all the aeons and in every way, (and) Who gazes upon His image which He sees in the Spring of the Spirit. It is He Who puts His desire in His Water-light which is in the Spring of the pure Light-water which surrounds Him.’”

For the Love of Animals: Australia’s Honorable Mark Pearson (vegetarian), Part 3 of 3

Many experts concur that COVID-19 is a zoonotic disease, a virus originating in animals and then transferred to humans. Mark, a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate believes that to prevent future pandemics, all forms of animal abuse, including the raising of billions of animals each year for slaughter, must stop. Mr. Pearson sees coronavirus as a “wake-up call” for humans to cha

“The Spiritual and Karmic Aspects of the Vegetarian Diet” by Sant Kirpal Singh and Baba Sawan Singh (vegetarians), Part 2 of 2

We will now continue with the reading from Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj and His beloved Master Baba Sawan Singh Ji’s book entitled, “The Spiritual and Karmic Aspects of the Vegetarian Diet.” “We have all been created by God. All of us are embodied souls. Soul is of the same essence as that of God, and God is in all of us; and we should, therefore, love one another. That is what Saint Paul taught all his life.” “If one is keen for God-realization, then one must not hurt anyone’s feelings, for heart is the seat of God. Have you ever realized that a mango seed, when embedded, gathers all the sweetness from the soil, while a pepper seed attracts all the bitterness in it? As a man thinketh, so he becomes. Nothing is good or bad in the world, but our thinking makes it so. We, like the one or the other of the seeds, draw upon impulses from the atmosphere, as suits our own mental make-up.”“A Godly person is possessed with a right mind and a right heart. He has both within and without a perfect spring of peace. His dealings are fair, open, and unquestionable. Truth springs from the very bottom of his heart. The audience is spellbound and gets a feeling of comfort by hearing him, as his utterances are drenched from the cooling effect of the loving and chaste thoughts within him, and everyone feels satisfied.”“All other Saints have said this thing in the same strain: 1. Love thy neighbor as thyself. 2. Do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you.” “The whole of the religious philosophy hangs by these two cardinal principles. If one puts before him these two golden rules, his life will surely be transformed. The person who has no element of sympathy in his heart and a human touch, is not fit to be called even a man, and he cannot know God. He who treats his enemies lovingly will disarm them in no time. Insofar as you can, try to do no injury to anyone. Be good to all and you will be at peace with yourself and be a radiating center of loving grace around you. The prayers of others, to whom you may have done good, will help you. The good thoughts of others will swarm around you with a benediction. The very idea of doing good will first affect you and will draw all good vibrations from the surrounding atmosphere.”

Southeastern Korean city schools offer vegetarian meals

The Ulsan City Office of Education is promoting vegetarianism in response to climate change and to improve student health. Currently, 92% of its 248 schools offer daily vegetarian meals to students who request it, and 94% have “Meat-free Monday” lunches every two weeks. The meals use protein-rich legumes instead of meat. School cooks, nutrition teachers, and dieticians have received specialized training on vegetarianism and climate change. The schools have also carried out a wide range of initiatives to promote veg education and connect students with the environment, including setting up veg cooking festivals and school gardens. Our thanks, Ulsan City Office of Education, for emphasizing the importance of a plant-based diet to better child wellness and overcome the climate crisis.May all educational institutions soon encourage veganism among students, families, and teachers, in Heaven’s upliftment.

Selections from “Songs of Innocence and of Experience” by William Blake (vegetarian), Part 1 of 2

Selections from “Songs of Innocence and of Experience” by William Blake (vegetarian), Part 1 of 2

Born in London, England in 1757, William Blake was a poet, artist, and spiritual visionary. During the course of his life, he created hundreds of artistic engravings, many of which were combined with poems. Although his works were not widely popular when he was still alive, he is now considered a leading artist and poet of the Romantic Age. We will now share with you selections from “Songs of Innocence,” the first part of a poem collection that also includes “Songs of Experience.” “Little lamb, who made thee? Does thou know who made thee, Gave thee life, and bid thee feed By the stream and o’er the mead; Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, woolly, bright; Gave thee such a tender voice, Making all the vales rejoice? Little lamb, who made thee? Does thou know who made thee? Little lamb, I’ll tell thee; Little lamb, I’ll tell thee: He is called by thy name, For He calls Himself a Lamb. He is meek, and He is mild, He became a little child. I a child, and thou a lamb, We are called by His name. Little lamb, God bless thee! Little lamb, God bless thee!” “Sleep, sleep, happy child! All creation slept and smiled. Sleep, sleep, happy sleep, While o’er thee thy mother weep. Sweet babe, in thy face Holy image I can trace; Sweet babe, once like thee Thy Maker lay, and wept for me: Wept for me, for thee, for all, When He was an infant small. Thou His image ever see, Heavenly face that smiles on thee! Smiles on thee, on me, on all, Who became an infant small; Infant smiles are His own smiles; Heaven and earth to peace beguiles.” “To Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love, All pray in their distress, And to these virtues of delight Return their thankfulness. For Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love, Is God our Father dear; And Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love, Is man, His child and care. For Mercy has a human heart; Pity, a human face; And Love, the human form divine: And Peace the human dress. Then every man, of every clime, That prays in his distress, Prays to the human form divine: Love, Mercy, Pity, Peace. And all must love the human form, In heathen, Turk, or Jew. Where Mercy, Love, and Pity dwell, There God is dwelling, too.”
