During the Christmas holidays, our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai continued without a moment’s rest to work and meditate intensively for the world. Master also made time on December 24, 2020, to answer questions from the Supreme Master Television team on various spiritual topics, in yet another conference that reflected Master’s deep concern for our world. You know there are more new variants of COVID nowadays, right? (Yes, Master.) They spread 70 or 80 percent faster than the old one. (Wow.) And they found them in England, but maybe they’re already in France or anywhere else, so the whole Europe is shut down now. (Wow.) They don’t let anyone from England to come, well unless something really urgent or very, very important. (Yes, Master.) They’re all shut down now. Now the whole England is quarantined from Europe. And then even other countries also forbid the English people to come to their country also. I forgot, maybe Turkey or something. You find out. Because this new variant is from England, they found it in England. And six, seven types of them. Or maybe more now. So scary. (Yes, Master.)I don’t know how long until we are free of this COVID-19. It depends on humans. (Yes, Master.) If they U-turn and live compassionately, no more killing animals or man, then this pandemic will disappear in no time, without any medicine, without vaccine, without any trouble. But if they continue the way it is, I don’t know, I cannot guarantee. I can help some. But I cannot help completely. (Yes, Master.) It’s a lot already, it’s a lot of help. That’s why not as many people die as it would have been. Understand? (Yes, thank You, Master.)(Master, as the year 2020 is coming to an end, what would Master wish for the new year?) For whom? For yourselves? (For the world.) For the world? Oh, I wish the world vegan. World peace. That’s all I wish. Every day I keep repeating that to Heavens, make sure They hear me. To help us. Because without World Vegan, there will not be lasting World Peace. That’s why I ask people to pray and meditate only for World Vegan. And World Peace also comes along. The more World Vegan now, the more World Peace. (Yes, Master.) But it should be more lasting. (Yes, Master.) Well, it’s much better now, but still, it’s not as ideal as I want it. People are more vegan now. They have more time now during COVID-19. They will sit together or they sit alone, with their family, close family, or alone and with one or two, and they have more time to reflect. And we see the vegan trend is getting more prominent now. (Yes, Master.) I wish it will affect the whole world, and then soon we will have no more suffering animals on our planet, or suffering people from war and famine and all that. (Yes, Master.)I would advise all the leaders to save all the money unnecessary, for war, for other things that are frivolous spending. Keep their money and just give money to the poor. Give them something to start their lives with business, with education, or with farming, with changing their lives about from meat business to organic vegan business. (Yes, Master.) It’s very easy. And then they would take care of themselves. And the more people are vegan, the less government leaders should worry, because they will not be so violent if they have enough work for them to do, to earn their money, to take care of themselves; they would never make any trouble for governments. There will be less suffering, then also less sickness and less criminals in the world. (Yes, Master.) Then it’s good for everybody. That’s what I wish: World Vegan, World Peace, in the name of God. In God’s mercy, may it come soon. Amen. (Amen.)By the way, I thank also all the Supreme Master Television workers outside in the world. They also sacrifice a lot because they also have work to earn a living, and they also have their family members, their ties, their obligations, and they still take their time to help with this work, to help our world. So I’m thanking you sincerely and humbly. May God bless you all. Love you so much. Thank you. Hug, hug. God bless you and your family. Bye for now. (Bye, Master.)Our love and gratitude, Master, for Your vital words of wisdom, and for all You are doing to reduce the world’s suffering at this time. We too shall keep praying for humankind to rapidly U-turn towards a compassionate life, until finally World Vegan, World Peace is achieved in the Divine’s Grace and Mercy. May Most Precious Master be well and protected by the High Heavens, always. For the full broadcast of this conference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, please tune in to Between Master and Disciples at a later date.

We will now continue with the enlightening wisdom of the Reverend Thomas Merton as expressed in his book, “Thoughts in Solitude.” “There is no true spiritual life outside the Love of Christ. We have a spiritual life only because we are loved by Him. The spiritual life consists in receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit and His Charity, because the Sacred Heart of Jesus has willed, in His Love, that we should live by His Spirit — the same Spirit Which proceeds from the Word and from the Father, and Who is Jesus’ Love for the Father. If we know how great is the Love of Jesus for us, we will never be afraid to go to Him in all our poverty, all our weakness, all our spiritual wretchedness and infirmity.” “All sin is a punishment for the primal sin of not knowing God. That is to say all sin is a punishment for ingratitude.”“He is Love. Deus Caritas est (God is Love). Our knowledge of God is perfected by gratitude: we are thankful and rejoice in the experience of the truth that He is Love. The Eucharist — the Sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving — is a burning hearth of the knowledge of God, for in the Sacrifice, Jesus, giving thanks to the Father, offers and immolates Himself entirely for His Father’s Glory and to save us from our sins. If we do not ‘know’ Him in His sacrifice, how can it avail for us? ‘The knowledge of God is more than holocausts’ (Hosea 6:6). We do not know Him unless we are grateful, and praise the Father with Him.”“There is no neutrality between gratitude and ingratitude. Those who are not grateful, soon begin to complain of everything. Those who do not love, hate. In the spiritual life, there is no such thing as an indifference to love or hate.” “To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us — and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His Love, every moment of existence is a Grace, for it brings with it immense Graces from Him. Gratitude therefore, takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the Goodness of God. For the grateful man knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.”

The talented Mrs. Lahav and her family reside in the bustling city of Tel Aviv, Israel. Liat’s transition to a vegan lifestyle was met with the typical challenges of customary habits and beliefs, but in her heart, she knew that a compassionate lifestyle must be led by example. "Well, my name is Liat Lahav. I launched SHANILI from passion for animals, compassion and love, and I called my brand 'Live Fashion, Walk Compassion,' because it’s fashion, first it’s fashion, and everybody loves fashion. And I wanted to show people and not only vegans, all people, that you can buy fashion and beautiful things that doesn’t need to have anything from animals. I’m using different kinds of microfibers. It can be like a suede, and really leather-like, like smooth leather. And until you see it and touch it and wear it, you can’t understand and believe that it’s not leather. It’s exactly the same. And it’s very good material. It’s synthetic. It’s very easy to process it. And it doesn’t damage the Earth, like the leather does. And especially, you can reproduce them because it’s synthetic. So, it’s recycling. So, it’s only a win-win situation. My dream, and this is my vision and my first purpose, is to bring the opportunity for vegans, vegetarians and anybody else who doesn’t want to consume animal products, to bring them the fashion into their lives. I’m all the time announcing that SHANILI is the pioneer for the vegan fashion revolution. And I’m working to get there. And so, I’m asking everybody here in Israel and outside Israel, if you know how you can help me to achieve that, and to bring the vegan fashion to the world, just I’m here. I’m open to hear everything and to make different kinds of collaborations, just to end this suffering from our world." Compassionate Liat Lahav, we thank you for your noble endeavors to bring a Heavenly way of life to God’s children on our precious planet. We wish you growing success and pray others will follow your animal-friendly example to Live Fashion, Walk Compassion.

We will now continue with the reading from Chapter 7 in the Gospel of Luke of the Holy Bible. In these verses, we will learn about some of the miracles Lord Jesus performed while on His mission to spread the word of God.Jesus and John the Baptist “When the men came to Jesus, they said, ‘John the Baptist sent us to You to ask, “Are You the One Who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”’ At that very time, Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So, He replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.’” “After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the One about Whom it is written: “I will send My Messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.” I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the One Who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.’”Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman “Then He turned toward the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven - as her great love has shown. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.’ Then Jesus said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ The other guests began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this Who even forgives sins?’ Jesus said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’”

Jesus Christ: Prophet, Son of God, the Prince of Peace, Savior and friend; He is known by many names. The birth in Bethlehem of this beloved spiritual Master marks the beginning of the Western calendar; so important was His influence on humanity. Lord Jesus taught God’s love and forgiveness to all people with open hearts. He is especially loved and remembered because of His sacrifice to cleanse the sins of His disciples and of the world. Three days after His crucifixion, He arose, as witnessed by some of His disciples. Today, we will open the Gospel of Luke.Love for Enemies “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Judging Others “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” A Tree and Its Fruit “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” The Wise and Foolish Builders “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice, is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

The interest in vegan horticulture and gardening has expanded exponentially, as more people become aware of how typical methods of growing plants and crops involve the use of environmentally damaging synthetic chemicals and practices that harm our precious animal co-inhabitants. "I’m Matthew Appleby, I’m editor for 'Horticulture Week.' I first started about 20 years ago being a vegan. I realized this was quite a sort of doable way of living. What motivates most people to become vegan is because they care about animals. And they care about the environment. And they care about their health, and it’s a combination of those three. Vegan gardening is gardening without exploiting animals. So, it’s using homemade composts and fertilizers, rather than animal composts and animal-based fertilizers. It’s also gardening with wildlife in mind. So rather than exploiting animals or trying to attract animals, it’s leaving the animals to do their own thing on your plot. It’s also gardening for vegan health. So, I’m interested in growing what’s nutritionally right for a vegan. I make vegan compost just the same as anyone else is making compost. You can have your kitchen scraps, your grass cuttings, leaves, you can have any leftover vegetable matter, but you just don’t use anything that’s animal-based. So, you don’t use anything which is from a farmed animal and you wouldn’t chuck in your eggshells, and you wouldn’t chuck in meat anyway because it basically doesn’t compost well, and it attracts rodents. I don’t dig, and I think it’s really common in a lot of areas of gardening now, and non-vegan gardeners increasingly not digging. And that a lot of people see this as a really good idea because you don’t want to disturb the layers of the soil because you know you create erosion, you break up your beneficial animals’ homes. So, I plant covered crops. Hopefully they’ll break down and put some nitrogen back in the soil, get some organic matter back in the soil which will create quite a good sort of soil crumb." Our appreciation Matthew Appleby, for your dedication to assisting gardeners to attain healthy and ecologically-sound green spaces. May the Heavens forever bless you! We hope to see more of your work in the future. Best wishes for your noble prospective endeavors!

“We speak of the evolution of Life in Matter, the evolution of Mind in Matter; but evolution is a word which merely states the phenomenon without explaining it. For there seems to be no reason why Life should evolve out of material elements or Mind out of living form, unless we accept the Vedantic solution that Life is already involved in Matter and Mind in Life because in essence Matter is a form of veiled Life, Life a form of veiled Consciousness. And then there seems to be little objection to a farther step in the series and the admission that mental consciousness may itself be only a form and a veil of higher states which are beyond Mind. In that case, the unconquerable impulse of man towards God, Light, Bliss, Freedom, Immortality presents itself in its right place in the chain as simply the imperative impulse by which Nature is seeking to evolve beyond Mind, and appears to be as natural, true and just as the impulse towards Life which she has planted in certain forms of Matter or the impulse towards Mind which she has planted in certain forms of Life.” “The animal is a living laboratory in which Nature has, it is said, worked out man. Man himself may well be a thinking and living laboratory in whom and with whose conscious co-operation she wills to work out the superman, the god. Or shall we not say, rather, to manifest God? For if evolution is the progressive manifestation by Nature of that which slept or worked in her, involved, it is also the overt realization of that which she secretly is. We cannot, then, bid her pause at a given stage of her evolution, nor have we the right to condemn with the religionist as perverse and presumptuous or with the rationalist as a disease or hallucination any intention she may evince or effort she may make to go beyond. If it be true that Spirit is involved in Matter and apparent Nature is secret God, then the manifestation of the divine in himself and the realization of God within and without are the highest and most legitimate aim possible to man upon earth.”

India - the home of many great spiritual Masters who have brought wisdom and truth to Earth, inspiring us to seek a higher purpose in life, thus uplifting humanity to a divine state of being. One such great figure is the spiritual Master, yogi, philosopher, poet and politician Sri Aurobindo, who graced our planet from 1872 to 1950. Through the inner knowledge revealed to Him during His spiritual practice, Sri Aurobindo began publishing writings full of wisdom.Today, we present to you Chapter 1 of “Book One – Omnipresent Reality and the Universe” in “The Life Divine.” “She follows to the goal of those that are passing on beyond, she is the first in the eternal succession of the dawns that are coming, — Usha widens, bringing out that which lives, awakening someone who was dead… What is her scope when she harmonizes with the dawns that shone out before and those that now must shine? She desires the ancient mornings and fulfils their light; projecting forwards her illumination she enters into communion with the rest that are to come.” “Threefold are those supreme births of this divine force that is in the world, they are true, they are desirable; he moves there wide-overt within the Infinite and shines pure, luminous and fulfilling… That which is immortal in mortals and possessed of the truth, is a god and established inwardly as an energy working out in our divine powers… Become high-uplifted, O Strength, pierce all veils, manifest in us the things of the Godhead.” “The earliest preoccupation of man in his awakened thoughts and, as it seems, his inevitable and ultimate preoccupation, — for it survives the longest periods of skepticism and returns after every banishment, — is also the highest which his thought can envisage. It manifests itself in the divination of Godhead, the impulse towards perfection, the search after pure Truth and unmixed Bliss, the sense of a secret immortality. The ancient dawns of human knowledge have left us their witness to this constant aspiration; today we see a humanity satiated but not satisfied by victorious analysis of the externalities of Nature preparing to return to its primeval longings. The earliest formula of Wisdom promises to be its last, — God, Light, Freedom, Immortality.”

“Today I’m going to show you how to make mince pies, English style, because it’s almost Christmas. People in England, they make mince pies for Christmas, apart from Christmas pudding and other forbidden sweetness.” “I’m going to mix some flour and salt, just a pinch of salt and flour.” “But in ordinary cases, if you use 225 grams of flour, then you’d use 100 grams of fat, vegetable fat solid.” “Mix this salty flour together with the vegan butter. Use your hand, very lightly. And it should be in the cold.” “Now you need like two tablespoons of water for the proportion that I’ve told you above.” “If it’s not enough water, you put more. You just put enough so that it becomes a dough.” “And then you roll lightly.” “Roll it out until it’s a little bit thin, and then you can cut it.” “It’s just a little bit bigger than the top, the mouth, then it’s OK for the top. To lay in the tray, you have to make a bigger one.” “We can dip a little bit in it and lay your tray.” “Before we start that, we preheat the oven. You bake this for about 15 minutes, so you put the (timer) on for 15 minutes.” “And the electric oven should be 230˚C, that is about 450˚F.” “Now I’m going to cut this pastry and then we can put it on there. You roll it out thin, about half a millimeter or one millimeter; it depends on how thick you want it. And now you take it off one by one. You put it in the tray here. Push it down a little bit, so it goes inside the deep tray in there.” “Now we have to fill it with the (vegan) mincemeat, which is ready-made. You put about one tablespoon in there.” “Then you cut another six smaller ones to cover the mince pies.” “So now, I’m going to do some decorations. You can cut some of this leftover.” “Now, important! You have to use a knife, or even a toothpick, to put like three holes.” “So when you bake, the air will come out and will not ruin your cake.” “The oven is hot already. Put it right in the middle of the oven. There you are, 15 minutes.” “If it’s not golden or cooked enough, you can add a little bit more time later.”

“‘Bestir yourselves, O people,’ is, on the one hand, the ominous warning sounded by Bahá’u’lláh Himself, ‘in anticipation of the days of Divine Justice, for the promised hour is now come.’ ‘Abandon that which ye possess, and seize that which God, Who layeth low the necks of men, hath brought. Know ye of a certainty that if ye turn not back from that which ye have committed, chastisement will overtake you on every side, and ye shall behold things more grievous than that which ye beheld aforetime.’ And again: ‘We have fixed a time for you, O people! If ye fail, at the appointed hour, to turn towards God, He, verily, will lay hold on you.’ And again: ‘God assuredly dominates the lives of them that wronged Us, and is well aware of their doings. He will most certainly lay hold on them for their sins.’ And finally: ‘O ye peoples of the world! Know verily that an unforeseen calamity is following you and that grievous retribution awaiteth you. Think not the deeds ye have committed have been blotted from My sight. By My Beauty! All your doings hath My pen graven with open characters upon tablets of golden stone.’ ‘The whole Earth,’ Bahá’u’lláh, on the other hand, forecasting the bright future in store for a world now wrapt in darkness, emphatically asserts, ‘is now in a state of pregnancy. The day is approaching when it will have yielded its noblest fruits, when from it will have sprung forth the loftiest trees, the most enchanting blossoms, the most heavenly blessings.’ ‘The time is approaching when every created thing will have cast its burden. Glorified be God Who hath vouchsafed this grace that encompasses all things, whether seen or unseen!’ ‘These great oppressions,’ He, moreover, foreshadowing humanity’s Golden Age, has written, ‘are preparing it for the advent of the Most Great Justice.’ This Most Great Justice is indeed the Justice upon which the structure of the Most Great Peace can alone, and must eventually, rest, while the Most Great Peace will, in turn, usher in that Most Great, that World Civilization which shall remain forever associated with Him Who beareth the Most Great Name.” “‘We verily,’ He Himself has testified, ‘have not fallen short of Our duty to exhort men, and to deliver that whereunto I was bidden by God, the Almighty, the All-Praised. Had they hearkened unto Me, they would have beheld the earth another earth.’ And again: ‘Is there any excuse left for anyone in this Revelation? No, by God, the Lord of the Mighty Throne! My signs have encompassed the earth, and My power enveloped all mankind, and yet the people are wrapped in a strange sleep!’”

"My name is Dr. K. Varadarangan. I reside in Bengaluru, India. On the music front, I have been learning music since a very young age and I’ve been a performer of Carnatic music. We turned vegan; that is, me and my wife both turned vegan in 2010, March, on our wedding anniversary day, after I came to know about the horrific practices of dairy, abusing the animals, the cows. So, in 2010, when I became vegan, I became very sensitive about items I used to use for daily use. And, of course, we eliminated all the non-vegan items from our lifestyle. But one thing that still remained was this percussion instrument called the mridangam. In fact, the mridangam is made of three animal skins - goat, cow, and buffalo. And I also came to know that cows are specifically slaughtered to make instrument, and I felt very depressed and sad. So the first idea was to give up performing on stage, so that I would not be part of this crime. But then an inner voice told me that's not enough, that if I quit performing, no big change. So I wanted to bring about a change that could even possibly help others, so I started thinking, ‘Why can't I invent a new instrument without leather, without animal skin and probably also wood?’ So I wanted to use an alternative material. I thought of fiberglass as a shell material but I didn't know how to make a head out of non-animal products. But then after a lot of research, many, many failures, months of failures, and completely sleepless nights, somehow I wanted to do it. I know the only thing that guided me was the passion to save animals from slaughter, because music is, everybody agrees it is divine and our Indian music particularly, which is very spiritual and divine in nature. We talk about only about these themes in our music, about spirituality, about divinity. And using the traditional instrument would be going against that very principle, so I decided to invent a synthetic head. So now I have been successful in making this instrument with a synthetic black spot which is Syahi. And also the membrane is now a polyester film. Dr. Varadarangan’s vegan drums are not only ethical, but also have many advantages over the traditional type. They are light in weight, user friendly and durable. Their pitch does not vary with temperature. What’s more, they allow musicians to tune them precisely. It’s no wonder that these vegan drums have been in high demand.

To encourage the ongoing trend toward a plant-based food system, His Excellency Mr. Lamothe suggests that the governments provide Much-needed support to animal livestock farmers so that they can make a successful transition to plant-based farming. “You know, Haiti’s a very proud country, very proud people and we, we feel that we contributed a lot to the black world and we showed to, at the time, the white countries, that slave ownership was completely reprehensible and we rebelled against it and we won. So, that's a super idea that you give. I wish I was still in office and maybe taking the lead upon that and maybe trying to push the country towards that. But it's not far from that, because you know in Haiti you eat lots of vegetables. The people, especially the rural area, that's probably all they eat. Generally, there is a good foundation, I would say, for a vegan revolution there.”His Excellency Laurent Lamothe worked tirelessly on several challenging fronts. From designing and implementing social policies, to alleviating extreme poverty, to securing investments, to relocating the thousands of unsheltered Haitians affected by the 2010 earthquake, to tackling insecurity and rehabilitating schools, public buildings, bridges, and roads, His Excellency set to the task of rebuilding a resilient, prosperous, peaceful Haiti. The world-renowned spiritual master, Supreme Master Ching Hai, commented on this special quality during a conference with Supreme Master Television team members in September 2020. She said: “Peace is the most precious thing that any president can give to his country and the world.” His Excellency Mr. Lamothe Advocates for “Climate-Smart Zones” in The Caribbean, a project of The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator which was formed in 2017, to strengthen the region’s readiness and response to disasters. It was a delight to highlight the incredible achievements of Haiti's 16th Prime Minister, His Excellency Laurent Lamothe, a dedicated civil servant who led and served with heart, integrity, and efficiency while in office, and in his daily initiatives as a citizen and a visionary entrepreneur. May the Heavens bless you and your loved ones forever.

May you continue to thrive in loving energy as you set a shining example of fitness and health while protecting our beloved animal co-inhabitants, in Divine splendor.
