Semangat Krismas Sebenar: Sebuah Mesej Ikhlas daripada Mahaguru Ching Hai (vegan), Bahagian 1 daripada 2

So, on the occasion of Christmas celebration, I would really, sincerely wish you well. But above all, I wish you more enlightenment. I wish you more remembrance of the teachings of Jesus and of all the Masters. Because that is what religion is all about: the teaching of the Master.Hi! I hope you see me, people outside there. How are you? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. I hope you can see me, all of you outside. My love to you, in the name of Jesus and in the name of God Almighty. It is Christmas again, one more year, so fast. And what a year we had. Anyway, it’s Christmas time and we should remember what Christmas is all about. It’s about our Lord Jesus who sacrificed everything for His disciples and for the world. There is a lot of Jesus’ teaching left behind. But we could also remember only some concentrated phrases that are very important for us, that we could use in our daily life. He said that, “Whatever I do, you can do better.” Why did the Lord say that? Yes, He healed the sick, cured the blind, fed the multitude. And most important is the compassion, the love that He conveyed to all His disciples, as well as the people who believed in Him at that time. That’s what makes Lord Jesus remembered even all these thousands of years, and we celebrate every year in His name. What did He say that we can do better? How can we do better? We thought Lord Jesus is the highest representative of God, of Heaven. How can we do better? Of course we can. We don’t have to be the doctor to heal the sick. We don’t have to have magic to cure the blind. What Jesus did is not just physical. He cured His disciples’ blindness, ignorance. These are the blindness that many of us have because we do not know God inside. Jesus didn’t just feed the multitude, did not just cure the blind physically, but He also elevated the spirit of His disciples and the people at that time, so that they could see God inside. Because He has told us that the Kingdom of God is at hand, the Kingdom of God is within you. That is another thing that needs some guidance and continuous contemplation in order to realize God. At the time of Jesus baptizing, people already could see the Kingdom of God, a glimpse of it. Nowadays we still can, if we have a good Guide, good Teacher, good Master, who knows how to help us to open the Kingdom of God for us to see. But that is something spiritual and it’s not easy to explain here in the physical language. So we’re just talking about the spirit of Christmas in a physical sense. We can heal the sick. We can cure the blind. We can feed the multitude. We don’t have to be a doctor to do that. We can help people by financial assistance, so that the person who needs can go to the doctor and let him/herself be cured of his blindness – nowadays we can – or his sickness, like, say, for example, the pandemic. We have tried our best. All the scientists and doctors have tried their best to find the cure and also the vaccination to prevent further sickness and death. We thank Heaven for that. And let’s hope these cures and this vaccination help our world, saving many, many lives, as many as possible. Thank You, God.Now, how do we feed the multitude? We feed the multitude by using our own financial resources to help those in need. Jesus could feed five hundred, five thousand. But we can feed even more than that, with modern technology as well as opportunity. Nowadays, we have so many, many convenient ways to live our lives, to earn money, and to help other people. All the money that we even use for … in war, for example, we could use it and feed the whole world.I don’t have that much money. I do what I can only. But if everyone does what he can, even as humbly as I do, the world will be a Heaven on Earth. No one would ever have to experience sickness or be lacking of anything; being hungry, cold, that no one takes care of. All the money we use to cure sickness, like pandemics, costs billions and billions. And all the money we have to use to mitigate the climate change, we could save them and also help the poor, help the hungry. Right now, millions of people already experience hunger everywhere in the world. Every five seconds, a child dies of hunger. And not to talk about children – adults, elderly, also die because of hunger. And we use our money for so many things which are not necessary. We could use that to help to feed the poor, feed the hungry. And the hungry multitude doesn’t even have to exist on our planet. We have plenty to feed everyone. We have enough money to feed the whole world if we don’t waste it on war, on animal raising, that causes climate change, that causes a lot of sickness and pandemics on our planet. And thus, we spend even more money on those just to amend the suffering, not to even prevent the sickness. This is a sad thing. We did not even have to prevent the sickness, if we did not raise the animals. We do not have to have hunger even, if we don’t use a large percentage of food to feed the animals in order to gain a few kilograms of meat. And not only that, we cause a lot of sickness because of meat and fish and eggs and dairy products that are not for human consumption. You see, it’s just like a cycle, endless cycle. We earn so much money or we earn with so much work and hardship, and we just waste it. We don’t even need animal products to survive. In our group, we eat only vegan food. No eggs, no milk, no meat, no fish. Nothing from the animals. And you don’t even have to wear fur to keep warm. This is not real fur. This is vegan fur. We make it in our company. And many companies nowadays, they also make vegan fur. No suffering to animals, no animal fur, nothing. And we live this way with a high conscience. We don’t have to always spend a lot of money or kill a lot of animals to survive. The spirit of Christmas is like that.Today, many people celebrate Christmas, inside their house or with their friends or with groups or by Zooming. Many people don’t. Many people cannot afford. I do not celebrate Christmas. I send things to let my team workers celebrate, but I myself don’t celebrate anything. I’m just here today to remind you of the spirit of Christmas. It’s not just all about ourselves, that we have a big party, chopping down millions of young trees, killing millions of animals, turkeys – the innocent ones. They wanted to live. They wanted to enjoy life. They wanted also to celebrate Christmas in their heart. But we just cut short their life, snuff the life out of them without thinking twice. I don’t want to cry now. I think about that. Think about that. We don’t have to kill the turkeys to celebrate Christ’s birthday. He never ate any animal product. He was vegetarian. He was from the Essene lineage and they have been vegetarian all the time. So, if we celebrate Christ’s birthday, Christmas, we should remember all this. His teaching is important. If we say we are a follower of Jesus, then we should remember the Lord’s core teaching – that is compassion, love for all beings. When the Lord carried the lame lamb that could not walk, He carried him. That’s just another symbol of His compassion and love to those who are meek and defenseless and innocent. And that’s the way we should do. Nowadays, for 2,000 plus years, we celebrated the Lord’s birthday, every Christmas, every year. But what do we do? What do we do with His teaching? We did not do much.We did not remember what the Lord was really teaching. We did not remember how He even sacrificed His own life because of love, because of compassion for others. What do we do? We still keep warring with each other, killing God’s children just for a piece of land, or for whatever reason. It’s never right. The Lord never taught killing. Any religious leader, Prophet, had never taught us any violence. So, on the occasion of Christmas celebration, I would really, sincerely wish you well. But above all, I wish you more enlightenment. I wish you more remembrance of the teachings of Jesus and of all the Masters. Because that is what religion is all about: the teaching of the Master. And we, the followers, should truly follow it, not just by letters, not just by reading it or chanting it, but by applying it, so that our world will become more worthy of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and of all the Masters’ sacrifices. If not, we really truly should not call ourselves human, because humans should have humane quality. If we call ourselves Christians, we should abstain from any killing, of any harm to other beings. If we say we follow other Prophets and Buddhas, Guru Nanak, or Jain Master, Lord Mahavira, or Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon Him, that even the Qur’an said, “You have to treat other creatures good, then God will treat you well.” I did not say the exact words, but it’s like that. And it says that we should be good guests on Earth. A good guest doesn’t kill the host, doesn’t kill any other guests on this planet. There is no religion’s doctrine that teaches us to kill others. And you all know that. It’s just that you must remember and must follow it and must apply it in everyday life.

Semangat Krismas Sebenar: Sebuah Mesej Ikhlas daripada Mahaguru Ching Hai (vegan), Bahagian 2 daripada 2

I just want to remind you of the spirit of Christmas. If you really worship Jesus Christ, you have to follow Him by His teaching. Even if you’re not enlightened yet, you must do what you can physically to help each other and to stop all the killing, stop all the wars – stop all the war with humans, stop all the war with animals. Then Heavens will be more lenient with us and we will not suffer pandemics or any other disaster again. That is the most urgent thing to do.Our world suffered a lot already. And now we have this pandemic. And it’s not the end of it yet. It’s not done yet. It keeps spreading around and developing more – more strains, more variants – so that the scientists and doctors are still worried whether or not the new-found vaccine will be effective. Because these many new strains of COVID-19 have the ability to spread 70, 80% faster than the one that we have been having the whole year. So, it is scary for everyone. And even the vaccine has many adverse effects on the patient, I mean, on the people who wanted to have the protection of the vaccine, but on the contrary, they have negative side effects, and it’s serious. So, it’s just like playing lotto. Maybe you go out, you might have the COVID-19 infection or not. And then you go take the vaccine, maybe you will be protected or not. On the contrary, you might not have.My heart has been feeling pain, a lot of pain. I cannot cry enough for humanity. I cannot tell you enough how I feel…. Humans are very fragile on this planet already. Anything could attack them, even from infancy already. From the moment a child is born, he’s attacked already with all kinds of radicals or environmental virus or all kinds of things that could make him trouble, could make him sick or ill or even die. Humans are very fragile already. And then we have to give ourselves all kinds of substances, which are not really good at all for us – alcohol, meat, cigarette, drugs – all kinds of things that are not suitable for our vulnerable, fragile body.God gives us this beautiful human body to enjoy the short stay on this planet. That’s why we are the guests here. And we should enjoy and remember God and try to be enlightened by finding an enlightened Master to teach us. But what do we do? We waste our time, our hard-earned money on war, on substances that are abusive to our fragile temple. This is a temple of God. We should treat it as thus and really take good care of it, so that it continues to function well for God’s sake, so that we can use it to remember God, and then use it to find the way Home.We can go Home, we can go back to Heaven, that is for sure. It’s just that we forget. But we could find a Teacher, Friend, Guide to help us, to bring us Home. But we did not. Instead, we waste our time in all kinds of frivolous activities and bring disaster upon ourselves, upon the planet, upon all beings on this planet. This is a beautiful planet. We should have just enjoyed it, or continue to enjoy it, instead of damaging it by deforestation, by fishing, by killing others: human fellow beings or other beings, like animals, innocent, helpless. We should reflect. This is not the teaching of any Prophet. It’s not the teaching of Jesus or any Prophet on Earth. As Jesus said, we could do better - than Him even. How more humble can a Prophet be? And how wiser can He be? How much wiser can the Lord be when He said we can do better? He meant physically, like we can feed the poor, can heal the sick, cure the blind. That is a physical thing first. Because if you’re physically sound, then the Master or any Teacher can bring good things into your mind. He can teach you benevolent things, or the Holy Spirit will descend into your body and help you to be more enlightened. So physical soundness is also very important. In this world, nobody ever had to go hungry. We can give them financial assistance so they can start their own business. We can give them land, whoever needs land, to cultivate vegan food. We can change all these animal farms into organic vegan farms. The structure is already there, just change something. The land is already there. The employees are already there. Everyone can change into an organic vegan farm anytime.I remember when I was in Europe; I can’t remember where I was though. I was in a hotel waiting to go somewhere, and I happened to read a newspaper from England. It told a story of a boy in Africa somewhere, that all he needs is just £30. Then he can take care of his whole family, meaning he can cultivate the land. He can have enough money to buy seeds to cultivate his land or some equipment for farming. That’s all he needs. So, I sent him a check of £100, or more than that, I can’t remember. What I mean is, it doesn’t take much for people to take care of themselves. And it’s a pity that these hardworking people, sincere people, still need to be hungry because they don’t have the means to take care of themselves.Meanwhile, we, in big societies, have too much, too much! We waste it on anything at all, and buying drugs and all kinds of toxins, and call that pleasure. We spoil ourselves with many things that are really unnecessary. The more we want, the more we are dependent, and then we just get worse and worse, physically, mentally and spiritually as well. That’s a pity. For example, I’m just saying something very stupid, like toilet paper. Whenever there’s a pandemic, it’s printed everywhere that people are rushing to the supermarket and emptied all the shelves of toilet paper. Don’t care if the neighbor will have it or not. We don’t even need toilet paper. Since ancient times, nobody even heard of toilet paper. And then we chop down billions of trees every year just for that. Damaging our environment. And these chemically-laden toilet papers also damage our environment and our water system. And then it affects each other, affects many things, and then affects the weather. And then we have drought, we have flood, and we have all kinds of extreme weather. We have been showing it on our Supreme Master Television. You can have a look again. Our planet is also as fragile as our body. It’s our extended body, and we keep damaging it.I know it’s Christmas and it’s not a nice story to tell, but look around you. People are locked down like prisoners. People don’t have work, don’t have money. Not every government can afford to give people money when they don’t work. Even the richest government, we cannot do this forever. We cannot give people monetary assistance forever.Toilet paper, you don’t even need. Our group, we don’t need it. I taught them just to use water and soap. It’s even cleaner and protects more the environment. You don’t have to depend on even toilet paper. It is funny how we are dependent on anything at all and don’t even think twice about whether or not we need, and how about the environmental need or not. This is the thing. We keep being more and more dependent on material things and busy ourselves to work to earn money, to save money, for all material need, and we don’t even remember our spiritual need. Our spiritual need is that, like Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” We should be one again with our Father, with our Heavenly Father, with our Original Heaven, our Original Home. That’s the purpose of our human life. We are here shortly even. So during all this short time, if we don’t try to make use of it to remember our Holy Original Selves, then we will be imprisoned here on this planet or elsewhere forever, in the material world, in the shadow world, instead of in the real world, in the Heavenly world, as God intended us to be. We have been imprisoned here long enough already and we still have not learned anything much.Jesus has died for us and we have not made use much of His teaching. His teaching is not just material things, not just material lecture, because what He said, other Masters have said already before also, more or less, before Him or after Him. What He gave is something not spoken by humans’ language. Many Masters used that to teach and uplift Their disciples. Jesus did that as well. It’s not just for material comfort or the language of teaching that Lord Jesus has been loved and worshipped by people. He brought to this world spiritual treasure as well. Nowadays, we still can find it. Because the treasure of our Father, of Heaven, is not something material that it could be depleted, it could be used up. No! It’s the lineage of a holy, unspoken teaching that anyone wise enough would try to seek it through someone who already knew that. I’m not trying to advertise for myself or anything. But this is the way any Master should teach Their disciples. And that’s why the disciples are so much in love with the Masters, not because of Their appearance, not because they give them anything. Some Masters give nothing because He doesn’t have things to give, I mean materially, but people still love Them. They love Them more than anything in the world because They have this treasure within Them, just like you all have it. It’s just you need somebody like a Master, a Teacher, who knows how to reawaken it, who knows how to open this inner eye for you, so that you can see the real world, the real treasure – the Heaven within you – and you will have Heaven on Earth.Meanwhile, we can make this world into a Heaven by helping each other, by stopping murdering innocent animals. The more we kill the animals, the more we will be in disaster. You can look back and see. And the more hospitals we have to build, the more patients will fill it up to overwhelmingly full or more than full. Many hospitals cannot accept patients anymore, even pandemic urgencies, because they’re full. And the doctors and the nurses are over-exhausted by working day and night for these emergency patients from the pandemics, not to talk about other emergency cases from other diseases as well, which every day is happening anyway. OK. I think I talked long enough.I just want to remind you of the spirit of Christmas. That is the most urgent thing to do. And for enlightenment, you have to seek a Guide, a Master, Teacher, truly, the one who can lift you out of this world and the next. Because the lower Heavens are just only the beginning. There are better places for us to exist.Because we will leave this planet sooner or later. It’s just that we have children and other children will be coming after us, so we have to take care of it for them. We don’t want them to be living in a burning inferno. We don’t want them to live in the planet that is having nothing anymore, or not enough food, not enough security, not enough water – have to even drink recycled water, use recycled water. In many so-called civilized, developed countries, still people must drink or use recycled water, even from sewage. This is something that is not right. We have to fix it.And the New Year’s coming, we should start a new style of life: be vegan, be kind, be generous, be good to others around us. All right. Thank you very much, and I wish you the best. May God bless us all until we change for the better. We have to change for the better. Christmas and New Year, make a promise to yourself and to God that you will change for the better: more benevolent, more compassionate, more considerate for all beings on this planet. Amen. Bye for now, until next time. Thank you.

Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian) Our Savior – From the Gospel of Luke (vegetarian) in the Holy Bible: Part 2 of 2

We will now continue with the reading from Chapter 7 in the Gospel of Luke of the Holy Bible. In these verses, we will learn about some of the miracles Lord Jesus performed while on His mission to spread the word of God.Jesus and John the Baptist “When the men came to Jesus, they said, ‘John the Baptist sent us to You to ask, “Are You the One Who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”’ At that very time, Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So, He replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.’” “After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the One about Whom it is written: “I will send My Messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.” I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the One Who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.’”Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman “Then He turned toward the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven - as her great love has shown. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.’ Then Jesus said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ The other guests began to say among themselves, ‘Who is this Who even forgives sins?’ Jesus said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.’”

Distributing God’s Wisdom: From the Book of the Secrets of Enoch (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

We now continue with chapters 40 to 48 in “The Book of the Secrets of Enoch,” depicting Enoch being sent by God back to Earth, in order to distribute his knowledge-rich handwritings through his children, teaching them of the immeasurable greatness of the one and only Father. “The Lord with His hands having created man, in the likeness of His own face, the Lord made Him small and great. Whoever reviles the Ruler’s face, and abhors the Lord’s face, has despised the Lord’s face, and he who vents anger on any man without injury, the Lord’s great anger will cut him down, he who spits on the face of man reproachfully, will be cut down at the Lord’s great judgment. Blessed is the man who does not direct his heart with malice against any man, and helps the injured and condemned, and raises the broken down, and shall do charity to the needy, because on the day of the great judgment, every weight, every measure and every makeweight (will be) as in the market, that is to say (they are) hung on scales and stand in the market, (and every one) shall learn his own measure, and according to his measure shall take his reward.” “The Lord has placed the foundations in the unknown, and has spread forth Heavens visible (physical) and invisible (spiritual); He fixed the Earth on the waters, and created countless creatures, and who has counted the water and the foundation of the unfixed, or the dust of the earth, or the sand of the sea, or the drops of the rain, or the morning dew, or the wind’s breathings? Who has filled earth and sea, and the indissoluble winter? I cut the stars out of fire, and decorated Heaven, and put it in their midst.” “From the invisible (spiritual) He made all things visible (physical), Himself being invisible (spiritual). Thus I make known to you, my children, and distribute the books to your children, into all your generations, and amongst the nations who shall have the sense to fear God, let them receive them, and may they come to love them more than any food or Earthly sweets, and read them and apply themselves to them. And those who understand not the Lord, who fear not God, who accept not, but reject, who do not receive the (books), a terrible judgment awaits these. Blessed is the man who shall bear their yoke and shall drag them along, for he shall be released on the day of the Great Judgment.”

Seneca, also known as Seneca the Younger, was a prominent Roman philosopher, orator, statesman, and a tragedian author. He was considered Rome’s leading intellectual figure during the mid-1st century. VOICE OF PROPHECY “We are coming into the Time of Times when Joy will reign supreme! When the spirit rules the flesh, you can then live in the physical body as long as you want to. The ‘great’ and the ‘good’ are only known as you grow greatness and goodness within yourself. The Peace Power (the ‘Peace that surpasses understanding’) now gains the victory over the unpeaceful power! The Sunshine Ange

Distributing God’s Wisdom: From the Book of the Secrets of Enoch (vegetarian), Part 1 of 2

Distributing God’s Wisdom: From the Book of the Secrets of Enoch (vegetarian), Part 1 of 2

The Book of the Secrets of Enoch, also known as the Second Book of Enoch, or Old Bulgarian Enoch, is an ancient religious text, which describes the intensity of the Antediluvian (pre-Flood) time period. Enoch was a venerated patriarch and great-grandfather of Noah. After his son, Methuselah, was born, Enoch began to “walk with God” – that is, he began to seek, to know, to serve, and to pray to God, and he continued this for the next 300 years! Throughout his life, he visited Heaven in his visions and dreams. At the age of 365, Enoch disappeared, “because God took him away” straight to Heaven, for he was pleasing to God. The Book of Enoch contains unique material on why the Great Flood was morally necessary, why some angels fell from Heaven, and prophetic revelations of the thousand-year reign of the Messiah. But the main message is one of hope, that God will be the guiding Light for those who are righteous. Today, as we go through chapters 31 to 39 from “The Book of the Secrets of Enoch,” we will read about God appointing Enoch to go down to Earth and share his handwritten books on everything he has witnessed and learned while on his journey in Heaven. “And now, Enoch, all that I have told you, all that you have understood, all that you have seen of Heavenly things, all that you have seen on Earth, and all that I have written in books by my great wisdom, all these things I have devised and created from the uppermost foundation to the lower and to the end, and there is no counsellor nor inheritor to my creations. I am self-eternal, not made with hands, and without change.” “They have rejected my commandments and my yoke, worthless seed has come up, not fearing God, and they would not bow down to me, but have begun to bow down to vain gods, and denied my unity, and have laden the whole Earth with untruths, offences, abominable lustfulness, namely one with another, and all manner of other unclean wickedness, which are disgusting to relate. And therefore, I will bring down a deluge upon the Earth and will destroy all men, and the whole Earth will crumble together into great darkness.”

Religion and Truth: Selections from “All Men Are Brothers” by Mahatma Gandhi Ji (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

“Religions are different roads converging to the same point. What does it matter that we take different roads, so long as we reach the same goal? In reality, there are as many religions as there are individuals. If a man reaches the heart of his own religion, he has reached the heart of the others too.” “God has created different faiths just as He has the votaries thereof. How can I even secretly

Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian) Our Savior – From the Gospel of Luke (vegetarian) in the Holy Bible: Part 1 of 2

Jesus Christ: Prophet, Son of God, the Prince of Peace, Savior and friend; He is known by many names. The birth in Bethlehem of this beloved spiritual Master marks the beginning of the Western calendar; so important was His influence on humanity. Lord Jesus taught God’s love and forgiveness to all people with open hearts. He is especially loved and remembered because of His sacrifice to cleanse the sins of His disciples and of the world. Three days after His crucifixion, He arose, as witnessed by some of His disciples. Today, we will open the Gospel of Luke.Love for Enemies “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Judging Others “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” A Tree and Its Fruit “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” The Wise and Foolish Builders “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice, is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

The Soul and the Substance of Existence: Selections from “The Perfect Way or The Finding of Christ” by Dr. Anna Kingsford (vegetarian), Part 3 of 3

The Soul and the Substance of Existence: Selections from “The Perfect Way or The Finding of Christ” by Dr. Anna Kingsford (vegetarian), Part 3 of 3

“The history and progress of the soul. Souls work upwards from plants and animals to man. In man they attain their perfection and the power to dispense altogether with material bodies. Their ability to do this is the cause and consequence of their perfection. And it is the attainment of this that is the object of the culture of the soul — the object, that is, of religion. Spirit alone is good, is God. Matter is that whereby spirit is limited, and is, therein, the cause of evil; for evil is the limitation of good. Wherefore to escape from Matter and its limitations, and return to the condition of spirit, is to be superior to the liability to evil.Formerly the way of escape for human souls was more open than now, and the path clearer. Because, although ignorance of intellectual things abounded, especially among the poorer folk, yet the knowledge of divine things, and the light of faith, were stronger and purer. The anima bruta, or earthly mind, was less strongly defined and fixed, so that the anima divina, or heavenly mind, subsisted in more open conditions. Wherefore the souls of those ages of the world, not being enchained to earth as they now are, were enabled to pass more quickly through their avatars; and but few incarnations sufficed where now many are necessary. For in these days the mind's ignorance is weighted by materialism, instead of being lightened by faith; and the soul is sunk to earth by love of the body, by atheism, and by excessive care for the things of sense. And being crushed thereby, it lingers long in the atmosphere of earth, seeking many fresh lodgements, and so multiplies bodies, the circumstances of each of which are influenced by the use made of the previous one.For every man makes his own fate, and nothing is truer than that Character is Destiny. It is by their own hands that the lines of some are cast in pleasant places, of some in vicious, and of some in virtuous ones, so that there is nothing arbitrary or unjust. But in what manner so ever a soul conducts itself in one incarnation, by that conduct, by that order of thought and habit, it builds for itself its destiny in a future incarnation.”“Wherefore man is, strictly, his own creator, in that he makes himself and his conditions, according to the tendencies he encourages.”

God is Love: From Thoughts in Solitude by the Reverend Thomas Merton (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

God is Love: From Thoughts in Solitude by the Reverend Thomas Merton (vegetarian), Part 2 of 2

We will now continue with the enlightening wisdom of the Reverend Thomas Merton as expressed in his book, “Thoughts in Solitude.” “There is no true spiritual life outside the Love of Christ. We have a spiritual life only because we are loved by Him. The spiritual life consists in receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit and His Charity, because the Sacred Heart of Jesus has willed, in His Love, that we should live by His Spirit — the same Spirit Which proceeds from the Word and from the Father, and Who is Jesus’ Love for the Father. If we know how great is the Love of Jesus for us, we will never be afraid to go to Him in all our poverty, all our weakness, all our spiritual wretchedness and infirmity.” “All sin is a punishment for the primal sin of not knowing God. That is to say all sin is a punishment for ingratitude.”“He is Love. Deus Caritas est (God is Love). Our knowledge of God is perfected by gratitude: we are thankful and rejoice in the experience of the truth that He is Love. The Eucharist — the Sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving — is a burning hearth of the knowledge of God, for in the Sacrifice, Jesus, giving thanks to the Father, offers and immolates Himself entirely for His Father’s Glory and to save us from our sins. If we do not ‘know’ Him in His sacrifice, how can it avail for us? ‘The knowledge of God is more than holocausts’ (Hosea 6:6). We do not know Him unless we are grateful, and praise the Father with Him.”“There is no neutrality between gratitude and ingratitude. Those who are not grateful, soon begin to complain of everything. Those who do not love, hate. In the spiritual life, there is no such thing as an indifference to love or hate.” “To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us — and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His Love, every moment of existence is a Grace, for it brings with it immense Graces from Him. Gratitude therefore, takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the Goodness of God. For the grateful man knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.”
