In today’s news, Japan donates funds to enhance food security in Malawi, UK researchers find humans’ connection with nature declining, US scientists develop sustainable plastic from plant waste, Swiss solar-powered electric plane reaches record-breaking altitude, Indigenous women become wildlife rangers to protect gibbon-citizens in Malaysia, vegan bakery in United States creates assorted desserts using local ingredients, and robot dog in Mexico helps educate public about animal-people welfare.

Making your own crafts for a beautiful home is a joyful activity. I have a vegan houseware tip for us. Did you know that traditional items labeled as Bone China are not vegan since they contain ash made from burned animal-people bones? This method was used historically because it created whiteness, translucency, and strength in the end product. Nowadays there are numerous vegan-friendly alternatives that rely on natural clays and minerals like stoneware, porcelain, earthenware, glass, and inventive plant-based composites. These are not only ethical, but can offer the same beauty, sophistication, durability, and practicality. Be sure to read labels carefully and when you’re in doubt, ask manufacturers to make sure your tableware matches your values.

Just when you thought you couldn’t smile, the joke of the day is here to help. This one’s entitled “Efficiency Patrol.”

Officer Gordon was at his desk at the police station typing up a report on a reckless driver when the police chief called out:

“Is your squad car running, Gordon?”

Budget cuts had everyone watching every penny, and the chief didn’t want anyone to waste fuel.

“The engine’s off, sir.”

“Are you writing a novel or making a short report? We’re not paying officers to sit around typing, you know.”

That’s when the reckless driver, still in cuffs but apparently full of ideas, chimed in:

“Hey, Chief, if it helps the department, I could escort myself to the jail cell.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Haruka
