In today’s news, European Union distributes funds to help Palestinians, meat companies in Brazil cited as breeding grounds for COVID-19, German automation company creates robotic birds, Ethiopia receives loan for wind power project, quarantined tenants receive specially prepared meals in Australia, Hong Kong restaurant chain veganizes local cuisine, and researchers in United States study social relations among beluga whales.
Palestinians in need receive essential assistance.
The European Union, a Shining World Leadership Award for Peace recipient, and a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Unconditional World Care and True Caring laureate, is providing €22.7 million of aid to vulnerable individuals living in Gaza and the West Bank. The COVID-19 pandemic has only ramped up the challenges facing displaced civilians in the region. Funds from the EU will assist at-risk families, providing safe education for children and emergency medical services. In the West Bank, the EU will extend its support of charitable organizations that safeguard communities impacted by opposition to settlers, evictions and demolitions. Money is available for cash transfers, screening tents and hygienic materials at health care centers. Our heartfelt appreciation, European Union! May the historic Palestinian people be blessed with resilience and unwavering faith in the loving guidance of the Providence.
Brazilian meat processing plants linked to coronavirus transmission.
An investigation conducted by the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) found that two factors – overcrowding of employees and workforces consisting of people who live in close-knit communities – combined to create ideal breeding grounds for COVID-19. Ernesto Galindo, a researcher involved with the study, commented, “There is a direct relationship.” Indeed, the number of infections was highest in localities where meat workers both live and work. In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, almost 5,000 employees tested positive at 32 different processing plants. To make matters worse, many factories have stayed open in spite of workers not feeling well. We are grateful, Ernesto Galindo and the Public Ministry of Labor, for your report on the spread of the disease and the role that meat production plays. In Divine mercy, may all nations implement vegan law before it is too late.
Up next, German automation company creates robotic birds. We’ll take a moment to thank the event planners, who coordinate all aspects of professional gatherings, especially the venue, decor, catering, entertainment and transportation. Hi, happy friends! I’m Allie the vegan Sally Lightfoot Crab and I look fabulous because I’m vegan! A beach umbrella can come in handy during a recreational day in the sun. However, it can easily start swaying with a slight breeze and may even blow away if the wind gets stronger. To prevent this from happening, dig a hole where you want to set your umbrella. Walk to the seashore with a bucket and scoop some wet sand into it. Then, use that to fill the hole you dug and stick in the pole of the umbrella at the desired angle. The wet sand will act like cement to hold your umbrella in place, and you can preserve it by spreading some dry sand on top. Big love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants! And thank you for tuning in. Now the weather around our beautiful globe.
Artificial birds programmed to fly indoors.
Germany-based Festo is a multinational supplier of pneumatic and electrical automation technology. They have announced the development of a robotic bird weighing 42 grams that can fly indoors guided by GPS transponders. Officially named the BionicSwift, the machine’s wings consist of ultralight but strong foam lamellae attached to carbon quills. The torso is covered with soft plates that bunch up to provide lift, then fan out to make graceful descents. Miniature motors, radio communication circuitry, a gearbox and battery are all neatly packed inside the body of the “bird.” Those who watch it fly are delighted by its beauty. What a wonderful manifestation of golden-age engineering, Festo! May your invention inspire humans to fully appreciate our world’s fine feathered friends.
Denmark’s largest bank funds new wind farm in Ethiopia.
Danske Bank has approved a loan of €117.3 million to construct a 100-megawatt power plant comprising 29 turbines. Another €28.7 million will come as a development assistance grant from Danida Business Finance on behalf of the Government of Denmark. Additional support is being provided by the African Development Bank, which has already paid for environmental and social impact studies. In May 2020, state-owned Ethiopian Electric Power signed a contract with Spain-headquartered Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy to build the sustainable facility in Assela, 165 kilometers south of the capital, Addis Ababa. Ethiopia is a Shining World Leadership Award for Earth Protection laureate. We gratefully applaud your generosity, Denmark and the African Development Bank, for funding more green electricity in Ethiopia. We pray that all of your citizens will soon have access to the electric energy they need, in Celestial celebration.
Australian charity helps to feed residents during coronavirus lockdown.
In July 2020, the state of Victoria responded to an outbreak of COVID-19 in Melbourne by imposing a strict lockdown on nine public housing towers. During the week that followed, the government ramped up testing and delivered emergency food and other essential supplies. However, many of the tenants are migrants and refugees with special diets, such as vegetarian. Realizing this, Kon Karapanagiotidis, CEO and founder of Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), directed his vegetarian catering department to prepare culturally appropriate hot meals. They combined their efforts with other social enterprises so that thousands of people in quarantine could receive fresh nourishment that respected their values and beliefs. Many thanks, Kon Karapanagiotidis, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and all who helped. May your consideration for others reflect back to you, in the sheltering grace of the Divine.

Dim sum restaurants launch vegan options in Hong Kong.
Tong Kee Bao Dim is a popular fast-food chain with 100 outlets. They have recently added plant-based takeaway items made with OmniPork, a protein substitute made from peas, soybeans, shiitake mushrooms and rice. Customers can now order meat-free vegetable buns and dumplings at all locations, while select branches will also offer Steamed Rice with OmniPork Strip & Preserved Vegetables and OmniPork in Tomato Sauce with Rice. The menu upgrade is in sync with growing social awareness of the inherent cruelty in animal products. It also converts some of the local cuisine and dietary staples of the population into more sustainable alternatives. We salute you, Tong Kee Bao Dim and OmniPork, for making compassionate and health-promoting food more accessible to the masses. May your noble efforts hasten the arrival of World Vegan, in Heaven’s benevolent mercy.
New study shows beluga relationships are more complex than previously thought.
A team of researchers at Florida Atlantic University in the United States sifted through decades of data from 10 locations across the Arctic where the polar mammals are known to live – from Alaska to Canada and Norway to Russia. Using molecular genetic techniques, the scientists were able to determine that beluga pods include individuals of different maternal lineages. Also, the animals’ intelligence and vocal abilities enable them to network with whales outside of their herds. These findings will guide subsequent research into the resilience of the species and its ability to adapt to climate change. Good job, Florida Atlantic University researchers! May those of us who live on land have more understanding and respect for those who live in water, and thus be more receptive to the blessingful love they bring to Earth.
They say laughter is the best medicine! Please join us for the joke of the day entitled, “Miniature Golf.”
It was almost the end of summer vacation and a wife said to her husband: “Jim, why don’t we take the kids to play miniature golf!”
Jim agreed. Two hours later, under a blazing sun at the miniature golf course, Jim’s neighbor, Ray, spotted him with his two kids and called out cheerfully: “Hey, Jim, who's winning?”
“No, I am!”
“No, Ray, their mother is winning!”
