Ego is nothing. Actually it’s just made up of a bunch of learned knowledge, and then you think it’s you, that you know this, you know that, all the knowledge put together, what you learned from others, or societies or books, and you think it’s you. You think you know it all, and that anything else is not right - anything else that you haven’t heard of, that cannot be true. Something like that. That’s why it’s difficult. In a way, I’m lucky because my family all became Quan Yin practitioners, all by themselves. I have not even come to preach anything to them. I know it won’t work.
