The Baha’i Faith’s “Gems of Divine Mysteries” Paragraphs 63-76

The Baha’i Faith’s “Gems of Divine Mysteries” Paragraphs 63-76

The word Baha means ‘glory’ or ‘splendor.’ The Baha’i Faith rests on three core principles: unity of God, unity of religion and unity of humankind. Approximately 7 million people today in many countries adhere to the Baha’i faith. Their scriptures are translated into 800 languages, and there are houses of worship in just about every corner of the world. Baha’i Principles envision an ideal society. They are gender equality; elimination of all forms of prejudice whether religious, racial, class, or national; harmony of religion and science; universal opportunity of education for all; an universal auxiliary language, which all humanity can use to cooperate quickly with one another; a judicious world government; and the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty. Many people, like the Baha’i followers, see a noble society as a real goal to be pursued in everyday life.

From the Secret Doctrine: Cosmic Evolution & On Kwan-Shi-Yin and Kwan-Yin Part 2/2

Published as two volumes during her lifetime-“The Cosmogenesis” and “Anthropogenesis”, “The Secret Doctrine” explains the origin and evolution of the universe and of humanity through an account of “Root Races” dating back millions of years. Although the writer of “The Secret Doctrine”, Madame Blavatsky often expressed that she was only the compiler of ancient wisdom that was passed on to her. The true authors of the work were her teachers, the Mahatmas, or Great Souls, who were the guardians of the Secret Wisdom of the ages.

From the Holy Buddhist Tipitaka: Bhaya-bherava Sutta: Fear & Terror

When priests or contemplatives in their bodily activities resort to isolated forest or wilderness dwellings, it’s the fault of their unpurified bodily activities that they give rise to unskillful fear and terror. But it’s not the case that I am unpurified in my bodily activities when I resort to isolated forest or wilderness dwellings. I’m purified in my bodily activities. I’m one of those noble ones who are purified in their bodily activities when they resort to isolated forest or wilderness dwellings. Seeing in myself this purity of bodily activities, I felt even more undaunted about stay in the wilderness.

From the Holy Buddhist Tipitaka: Tittha Sutta - Various Sectarians 1-2

At that time, there were a number of recluses and Brahmans, wanderers of various sects, living around Savatthi. And they were of various views, of various beliefs, of various opinions, and they relied for their support on their various views. And they lived quarrelsome, disputatious, and wrangling, wounding each other with verbal darts. Then a number of bhikkus (monks) said to the Lord: “At present, revered sir, there a number of recluses and Brahmans, wanderers, living around Savatthi. And they are various views... saying: ‘Dhamma is like this! Dhamma is like that!’” “Formerly, bhikkus, there was a certain king in this very Savatthi. He presented an elephant to the blind people, saying: ‘Tell me, blind people, what is an elephant like?’ Those blind people saying, ‘An elephant is like this, an elephant is not like that!’ They fought each other with their fists. Even so, bhikkus, are those wanderers blind, unseeing, saying,‘Dhamma is like this! Dhamma is like that!...’”

Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Chapter 2 & 8 - Part 2/2

Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Chapter 2 & 8 - Part 2/2

But a person free from all attachment and aversion and able to control his senses through regulative principles of freedom can obtain the complete mercy of the Lord. A person who has given up all desires for sense gratification, who lives free from desires, who has given up all sense of proprietorship and is devoid of false ego- he alone can attain real peace. That is the way of the spiritual and godly life, after attaining which a man is not bewildered. If one is thus situated even at the hour of death, one can enter into the kingdom of God.

Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Chapter 2 & 8 - Part 1/2

The person who is not disturbed by happiness and distress and is steady in both is certainly eligible for liberation. For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He is not slain when the body is slain. Be free from all dualities and from all anxieties for gain and safety, and be established in the self. Abandoning all attachment to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga. Keep all abominable activities far distant by devotional service, and in that consciousness surrender unto the Lord! A man engaged in devotional service rids himself of both good and bad reactions even in this life. Therefore strive for yoga, which is the art of all work.

From the Sacred Confucian Analects, Chapter 13

Tsze-lu asked about government. The Master said, “Go before the people with your example, and be laborious in their affairs.”He requested further instruction, and was answered, “Be not weary in these things.”The Master said, “Though a man may be able to recite the three hundred odes, yet if, when entrusted with a governmental charge, he knows not how to act, or if, when send to any quarter on a mission, he cannot give his replies unassisted, notwithstanding the extent of his learning, of what practical use is it?”The Master said, “When a prince’s personal conduct is correct, his government is effective without the issuing of orders. If his personal conduct is not correct, he may issue orders, but they will not be followed.”The Master said, “If a minister makes his own conduct correct, what difficulty will he have in assisting in government? If he cannot rectify himself, what has he to do with rectifying others?”The Duke of Sheh asked about government. The Master said, “Good government obtains when those who are near are made happy and those who are far off are attracted.”

From the Sacred Confucian Analects, Chapter 12

Yen Yuan asked about perfect virtue. The Master said, “To subdue one’s self and return to propriety, is perfect virtue. If a man can, for one day, subdue himself and return to propriety, heaven will ascribe perfect virtue to him. Is the practice of perfect virtue from a man himself, or is it from others?” Yen Yuan said, “I beg to ask the steps of that progress.” The Master replied, “Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety; speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety.” Chung-kung asked about perfect virtue. The Master said, “It is, when you go abroad, to behave to everyone as if you were receiving a great guest; not to do to others as you would not wish done to yourself; to have no murmuring against you in the country, and none in the family.” Sze-ma Niu asked about perfect virtue. The Master said, “The man of perfect virtue is cautious and slow in his speech. When a man feels the difficulty of doing, can he be other than cautious and slow in speaking?”

From the Holy Bible: The Gospel of Saint Matthew – Chapters 12-13

Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgement to the Gentiles. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. For whosoever shall do the will of my father which is in Heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Vegetarianism: A Shared Ideal for Humanity - Interview with Chief Rabbi David Rosen – Part 2 of 2

Vegetarianism: A Shared Ideal for Humanity - Interview with Chief Rabbi David Rosen – Part 2 of 2

Vegetarianism is a vehicle for universal peace for all humanity and also a reflection of universal peace. So there should be moral obligations in terms of our responsibilities towards other human beings, to lead a diet that does not waste in such a terrible way. Probably the greatest damage to our environment is done through livestock through methane gas, through destruction of rainforests. Therefore, to save our planet is to change our diet away from meat eating and to observe a healthy vegetarian diet. That is the stage upon which the greatest drama ever facing humanity is now being played out. Global warming respects no boundaries.

From The Holy Bible: The Book of Proverbs - Excerpts from Proverbs 2-4 & 8-9

Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.

From the Holy Qur'an:Chapter 11 - Hood P2/2

“My Lord is Most Merciful, Kind.” Worship God, you have no other god beside Him. Your Lord will surely recompense everyone for their works. He is fully Cognizant of everything they do. Therefore, continue on the path you have been enjoyed to follow, together with those who repented with you, and do not transgress. You shall observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) at both ends of the day, and during the night. The righteous works wipe out the evil works. You shall steadfastly persevere, for God never fails to recompense the righteous.

From the Holy Qur'an:Chapter 11 - Hood P1/2

“You shall not worship except God.” I come to you from Him as a warner, as well as a bearer of good news. You shall seek your Lord’s forgiveness, then repent to Him. He will then bless you generously for a predetermined period, and bestow His grace upon those who deserve it. To God is your ultimate return, and He is Omnipotent. His (earthy) domain was completely covered with water- in order to test you, to distinguish those among you who work righteousness. God controls all things.

The Hotel Called Life: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 2

The Hotel Called Life: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 2

Questions and Answers — Why did God put us through a human existence and all the trials and tribulations to realize ourselves when we were perfect to start with? Master: Because we want to have fun. You see a lot of rich people what do they do when they go to vacation? Sometimes they rent a thatched hut, so small - it looks like a poor person’s house. We did not recognize our perfect Selves until we came here, into the world of imperfection. This world is created so that we can know ourselves, know God. If there is no comparison, we would not know ourselves.

The Hotel Called Life: Questions and Answers, Part 1 of 2

This world is just a transient hotel. But in this hotel which we call “Life,” we have to work, pay every day, and even if we pay we still have to suffer. We pay every day with our precious time, our precious energy, our precious knowledge, our precious short existence here on this planet, which we should use to recognize our great power in order to tackle everything with ease and without effort. The system on this planet makes us so busy: work, work ,work, work from morning till night, work overtime, still don’t have enough happiness.
