She will show us how to make the vegan version of traditional Costa Rican breakfast, Gallo Pinto, as well as handmade tortillas that are popular in Central America. Marianella is the owner of the Green Vurgers Restaurant, a small vegan restaurant located in San Pedro, San José, Costa Rica. As its name suggests, Green Vurgers specializes in offering vegan burgers as a way of introducing veganism to the general public. “The main feature of the Gallo Pinto is its vibrant colors. You can see the red, brown from the beans and lots of the greens. It is very appetizing. Now we are going to make handmade tortillas from Central America. First, we roll the dough into balls. We can use any type of container to flatten the tortilla dough. We grease it with a little「olive oil」. There it is. This tortilla, when it moves easily, it means that it is ready. We can see that this type of breakfast is quite substantial.”

The research is in. A whole food plant-based diet is really beneficial for diabetes and also for heart disease and for stroke prevention and all these other concerns for people who have the disease. A whole food plant-based diet is mostly carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans are all carbs. So, I highly recommend healthy carbs.”

And then we’re going to add in two tomatoes, chopped, and also one jalapeño, one serrano pepper. And then a pinch of salt. And then we have two tablespoons of paprika. And then we’re going to add three tablespoons of Bragg’s Coconut Aminos, organic, of course. This is a South African smoke blend. And then a chili-lime seasoning blend. You guys can season together. Double time! You’re going to fill your taco with your jackfruit mixture. May we have some slaw? And then you're going to drizzle your (vegan) cheese sauce. Like that. There’s your taco.

I am in the process of becoming a vegan.” “It’s only a small farm, but I think if we all do a little bit, little bit, we will make a big impact on the planet’s ecosystem.” “But it will change, because now we’re seeing climate change, that evidence coming up that livestock farming is causing, creating a lot of carbon emission and so, the farming system has to change.” In closing, Kumar expresses his love for all beings. “From my heart, I would like to tell everybody that every life matters on this planet. Today we’re going to make some kind of breakfast, Spanish-style. And we have tomatoes, two medium-sized, and we have coriander. And we have some French bread. But you can have any other (vegan) bread. You can cut them into a shorter size, easy to cook. And you cut them into half, the bread, make it ready. And the super-melting cheese, or cheddar-style cheese, they’re all vegan. And tomato, you can have, one is enough for today. It’s mashed tomatoes! OK, we can butter the bread; vegan butter. And you put one slice of (vegan) cheese on one of the slices of the bread. Now for the cheese bread, you put some tomato on it, very thin tomato on top of the cheese. Then you put a little coriander on the cheese. The rest of the tomatoes can put on the buttered piece of bread. So we are going to put all this bread in here. Now we are going to put the bread in the oven. Very fast. Oh! Ten minutes, done. So, a very nice simple quick breakfast, tasty, delicious, and groovy, very groovy breakfast. There is my favorite breakfast.

In view of such daunting challenges, the IPCC Climate Change and Land Special Report could represent our last hope for a sustainable future. It is also a solution that can be carried out on both the individual and the governing front. The first of these themes involves the preservation of our world’s forests, as well as other land-based carbon-absorbing “sinks,” such as wetlands and grasslands. The second theme focuses on putting an end to our grossly inefficient food system. The Report concludes that transitioning to a plant-strong diet can free up hundreds of millions of acres of land, which will help to curb deforestation and climate change. Upon hearing of the IPCC Special Report’s suggestion for the world to transition to a plant-strong diet, our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai was overcome with joy. “We had good news: the United Nations and all the countries in the world signed the less meat protocol. So it’s becoming official now. I hope they just go forward. Become meatless. Not less meat, but meatless. No meat at all. That’s why I came to celebrate with you.”

As one of the most influential animal-rights activists and key resource on veganism, Tal Gilboa was appointed as the Animal-Rights Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel. Witnessing the ordeal of a mother cow served as a key moment for Tal Gilboa. She reflected on how best to honor a parent’s responsibility to children in terms of clear and honest education regarding animals. “And what I did was to take them all, the three of them, to farms. I wanted them to to watch the truth. Now I could say the truth to them by my knowledge, the calves are in these little cages, because they’re separated from their mothers. This is what I did and they changed because of that." Tal Gilboa's noble example and bold actions have reached farther than her whole family's turining vegan; she has also influenced many others within her country.
