From Sikhism’s Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib: Guru Nanak, Pages 14-16, Part 2 of 2

Those who are pleasing to Him are good. What else is there to be said? Wisdom, honor and wealth are in the laps of those whose hearts remain permeated with the Lord. What praise can be offered to them? What other adornments can be bestowed upon them? O Nanak, those who lack the Lord’s Glance of Grace cherish neither charity nor the Lord’s Name. The Great Giver has given the intoxicating drug of falsehood. The people are intoxicated; they have forgotten death, and they have fun for a few days. Those who do not use intoxicants are true; they dwell in the Court of the Lord. O Nanak, know the True Lord as True. Serving Him, peace is obtained; you shall go to His Court with honor. The sweetness of Truth is not fermented from molasses.

From Theosophy’s Sacred Teachings: “The Voice of the Silence,” Fragment I, Part 1 of 2

The 19th-century Russian esotericist Helena Petrovna von Hahn, more popularly known As Madame Blavatsky or H.P.B., came from a noble family in Ukraine. As a child, Madame Blavatsky would often have visions and displayed clairvoyance as well as other metaphysical phenomena. Years later, she traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East studying under various teachers and Sufi saints. While in London, United Kingdom, she met one special teacher, an Indian yogi named Master Morya, who later directed her to go to New York in the United States. Once there, she founded the Theosophical Soceity in 1875 with other like-minded individuals.

From Theosophy’s Sacred Teachings: “The Voice of the Silence,” Fragment I, Part 2 of 2

Watch how they hover over the stormy sea of human life, and how exhausted, bleeding, broken-winged, they drop one after other on the swelling waves. If through the Hall of Wisdom, thou would reach the Vale of Bliss, Disciple, close fast thy senses against the great dire heresy of separateness that weans thee from the rest. Then from the heart that Power shall rise into the sixth, the middle region, the place between thine eyes, when it becomes the breath of the One-Soul, the voice which fills all, thy Master’s voice. Tis only then thou can become a “Walker of the SKY” who treads the winds above the waves, whose step touches not the waters. Before thou set thy foot upon the ladder’s upper rung, the ladder of the mystic sounds, thou hast to hear the voice of thy inner God (the Higher Self) in seven manners.

A Master’s Only Obligation is to Liberate People, Part 1 of 4 #22, Dec.2, 1988

A Master’s Only Obligation is to Liberate People, Part 1 of 4 #22, Dec.2, 1988

Since ancient times, all enlightened Masters have promised us this. They came down here for this purpose only: to help people get immediate enlightenment and be liberated in one lifetime. They have no other mission. These are the true Masters. The one who has attained the Truth can transmit this enlightenment to other people, we call him a true Master. We, who have taken monastic vows, only have one mission in life: that is spiritual cultivation. If we are Pure Land master, we should recite, “Namo Amitabha Buddha.” If we are Tibetan masters, we should recite “Om Mani Padme Hum”

A Master’s Only Obligation is to Liberate People: Questions and Answers, Part 2 of 4 #22, Dec.2, 1988

We don’t compromise our choice for one or two friends and use that as an excuse. I’m telling you, when you die, no friend can come to help you. At that time, no one will come to speak for you, “Oh, the King of Hell, please have mercy on my friend. He drank wine and ate meat for my sake. Punish me instead and keep me in hell if you need to. Please let him go.” Will anyone say that for you? No. Therefore, we should not make excuse. Find reasons for spiritual cultivation, don’t make excuses for not doing it.

For us Quan Yin practitioners, at the moment of initiation, all the bad karma (retribution) created life after life is completely erased. It is because the past bad karma (retribution) is completely erased that we can have Buddha's Light and enlightenment experience, that we can listen to our true Self, that we can hear the inner (Heavenly) Sound, the voiceless Sound, which is a very beautiful, inconceivable inner Music that we have never heard before. After hearing it, our body becomes very relaxed, we feel that our bad karma (retribution) is gone, and we are truly very blissful.

The realm of the Avatamsaka, the realm of the Amitabha Buddha, can still be described. Some other realms are indescribable. This is the true Dharma eye. Just don’t be attached to it. We don’t have to change our situation, we just need to change from within.“Blessing power” is when an enlightened spiritual practitioner has unlimited merit, then when He looks at anyone, that person will receive unlimited blessings. Whoever He touches is guaranteed to be liberated. Whoever is initiated by Him is sure to become enlightened.

The Essenes’ Live Food Vegan Lifestyle as Part of Their Way to God: Interview with Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD, Part 1 of 2

The Essenes’ Live Food Vegan Lifestyle as Part of Their Way to God: Interview with Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD, Part 1 of 2

The Essenes, which maybe began about 500 BC, around the time of Pythagoras... Apparently, they trained Pythagoras on Mount Carmel, he came down as a live food vegan. The word Essene means “doers of the Torah.” So the Essenes were intense doers of the Torah. Their inner circle were live food vegans, the inner teachings. Because as doers of the Torah, they were following the Torah. They were following Genesis 1:29.

The Essenes’ Live Food Vegan Lifestyle as Part of Their Way to God: Interview with Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD, Part 2 of 2

The ultimate purpose of life is to know God. We call it deveikut in Hebrew. It means “God merging,” and “oneness.” That’s the ultimate purpose of life. That’s why we’re put here on the planet. From a spiritual point of view, from the Torah point of view, that’s our ultimate purpose, and the Torah is the guide to that. That’s the key idea. The movement in that direction is really one step at a time, and it’s according to the person. Now, the movement of kundalini (spiritual energy), or in Hebrew, the Ruach HaKodesh, it supports that.

Selection from Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s Book ‘Pathway to God’: Chapters 4 - 6, Part 1 of 2

Chapter Four TRUTH (1)What is Truth? Different people think of different and contrary truths? (2)Truth is the Source of Character. Character is based on virtuous action, and virtuous action is grounded on Truth. (3) How to Realize It? Which may be likened to the Philosopher’s Stone or the Cow of Plenty? (4) Need of Fearless Vigilance. There is so much superstition and hypocrisy around, even Truth will have to be suppressed. (5) Its Supreme Value. God as Truth has been for me a treasure beyond price. Chapter Five LOVE (AHIMSA) (1)Truth and Love (2)Love Unites (3)Love Is Life.

Selection from Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s Book ‘Pathway to God’: Chapters 4 - 6, Part 2 of 2

Chapter Five continued LOVE(AHIMSA). The Law of Love, call it attraction, affinity, cohesion if you like, governs the world. A mission that becomes him, it is that of Ahimsa (nonviolence). Chapter Six SELF-RESTRAINT. Restraint Should be voluntary. One should eat not in order to please the palate but just to keep the body going. The conquest of lust is the highest endeavour of man or woman’s existence. All power comes from the observation and sublimation of the vitality that is responsible for the creation of life. Restraint vs. Suppression.

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – The Song of “How to Gain Happiness and Avoid Suffering,” Part 1 of 2

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – The Song of “How to Gain Happiness and Avoid Suffering,” Part 1 of 2

Milarepa sang: ”To avoid fear and regret at the time of dying, To escape the fatal chasm of Samsara, One should conquer the enemy-desire. Remember always transiency and death, And ever meditate in solitude…” Let us be inspired by Tibetan Buddhism’s wisdom. The teachings of Tibetan Buddhism put a focus on the awareness of death and the ephemeral nature of life, leading to diligence in meditation and spiritual practice. “You should not cling to the formality of virtuous deeds. But try to subdue your wandering thoughts about going to the town. And concentrate on your meditation; otherwise you can never free yourself from the Three Realms of Samsara. Take heed of these things.”

From the Holy Text of Tibetan Buddhism: The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa – The Song of “How to Gain Happiness and Avoid Suffering,” Part 2 of 2

“How to Gain Happiness and Avoid Suffering”: He who knows his own nature And the immanent Truth, is every joyful. He who wrongly acts Is ever sad. He who rests in the state of nature And is ever spontaneously pure, is ever joyful. He who surrenders to impulses and environment Being subject to hatred and cravings, is ever sad. He who realizes that all things are the Dharmakaya (one of the three bodies of the Buddha, composed of the Buddha’s teachings), Freed from all fears, hopes, and doubts, Is ever joyful. He who is impatient, talkative, and rash, Being overpowered by worldly desires, Is ever sad.

From The Gospel of the Toltecs - Excerpts from Chapter 11: The Teachings, Part 1 of 2

Quetzalcoatl was born in the 10th century in what is now the town of Tepoztlán, Mexico. As legendary ruler of the Toltecs, He is also known by the names of Ce Acatl, Naxcitl, and Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl. When He was young, Quetzalcoatl underwent seven years of meditation and spiritual training to become a priest. Known as both a powerful king and a holy Saint who was in communion with the Divine. Today we share excerpts from the Gospel of the Toltecs that portray Quetzalcoatl’s teachings during His stay in Cholula, in present-day central Mexico.

From The Gospel of the Toltecs - Excerpts from Chapter 11: The Teachings, Part 2 of 2

“And the true father, the roots and beginning of humans’ lineage, is good of heart; he receives things, is compassionate, and cares for everything. He raises and educates the children; he teaches and admonishes them; he gives them examples to live by; he places before them a great mirror drilled on both faces. He is a thick, smokeless torch. And here comes the mature one, a full being with a firm heart like a rock, a wise face. He is owner of his face and heart. Skillful and understanding, a good text composer, he is a Toltec of the black and red inks; he is intelligent. God is in his heart and with his heart he knows things; he talks with his own heart.

From Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra: Book I – Lecture 3, ”Hot and Cold”, Part 1 of 2

The condition of living beings arises from karma. Examining karma (retribution) and the root of karma, namely killing, examining it and adopting its contrary, he is not seen by both ends. Knowing this, a wise man who knows the world and has cast off the idea of the world, should prudently conquer the obstructions to righteousness. Thus I say. And the hero should conquer wrath and pride. Look at the great hell as the place for greed. Therefore the hero abstaining from killing, Should destroy sorrow, going the road of easiness. Here now the hero, knowing the bondage, knowing sorrow, should restrain himself. Having risen to birth among men, He should not take the life of living beings.

THIRD LESSON: ‘Knowing the connection of the world, carelessness is not for his benefit.’ ‘Look at the exterior world from analogy with thy own self; [then] thou wilt neither kill nor destroy living beings;’ ‘The gifted man, following the law, sees well his true interest.’ FOURTH LESSON: Faithful according to the commandment of the Tîrthakaras (founder of the Jain religion), wise, and understanding the world according to the commandment-such a man is without danger from anywhere. Therefore, a wise man should avoid wrath, pride, deceit, greed, love (attachment), hate, delusion, conception, birth, death, hell, animal existence, and pain.

From the Holy Bible: The First Epistle of Saint Peter, Part 1 of 2

About three decades after Christ’s resurrection, Saint Peter wrote an epistle, or letter, to Church members. Saint Peter guided and encouraged his fellow Christians to follow Lord Jesus’ example of love, firm faith, and endurance. “Be Holy Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at His coming. Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.” “How is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.”

"Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed."

Some Small Secrets to Share: Selection from Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Book ”Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Part 1 of 2

Today we share with you the wise teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai, with excerpts from the section “Some Small Secrets to Share” in the book “Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice.” She offers many helpful tips derived from Her personal experiences. These serve as practical and effective tools to assist spiritual seekers in pursuing the path to eternal liberation and self-mastery. Sometimes you might feel you haven’t made any progress in your spiritual practice, and that it seems like a waste of time. Do you know why? Spiritual practice includes our body, speech and mind. If any of them lag behind, the other two can’t move along. All three have to be balanced and coordinated in order for you to make progress in your spiritual practice. We ourselves create all our breakdowns. When we’re angry, we generate a very dense and unpleasant magnetic field. This thick, dark and unpleasant field covers us like a barrier and keeps us from our goodness.
