I-Kuan Tao: Excerpts of The Heart Scripture of Clarity and Stillness, as Spoken by the Highest Lord Lao Tzu

I-Kuan Tao: Excerpts of The Heart Scripture of Clarity and Stillness, as Spoken by the Highest Lord Lao Tzu

I-Kuan Tao is one of the most significant spiritual movements in Taiwan. It has been considered as one of the spiritual heritages from Taoism, a religion that believes in “The Tao that unifies all with the one.” Tao is the ultimate principle beyond all principles and the ultimate power beyond all powers. Tao existed before the formation of all, yet it was not anterior, which means the creation was embedded in it. Tao merges into the creation, yet it is not posterior, which means that it is not thereafter limited. It is only Tao that can not be measured of its immensity nor detected of its existence. All people can be of one spirit, all nations can be in peace like a family, and the Great Harmony will come true. If people can always be in the state of purity and calmness, all of Heaven and Earth will become one with them. The truly noble person does not fight; the lesser noble person loves to fight. The highest Virtue is free from the Virtue; the lesser Virtue clings to the Virtue. We also benefit from the following for our lifetime: Being closer to the true joy, Transcending life and death, Achieving ascension.

Selection from Baba Sawan Singh Scripture: Discourses on Sant Mat (as delivered in Satsang), Chapter 1, Part 2 of 2

The first step that leads us towards our Home is detachment from the world. The transitory carnal enjoyments must be gradually discarded, for so long as they persist, the soul finds it impossible to attach itself to Nam (The Word of God). Spiritual wealth may be accumulated in two ways. First: by toiling hard at meditation; second: by a complete and unconditional surrender to the Master. The first is the easier way. The second method is however, hard to practice, though it is much more efficacious. The mind is a great hurdle in the way; it does not permit you to annihilate your ego.

In Silence We Know God: Questions and Answers, Part 1 of 4 May 5,1999

I am not a prophet. I’m going to show you to be a prophet, not that I’m your prophet. I’m going to show you to be a master and a prophet yourself. I am coming here to tell you that you’re the prophet, that you are the children of God. And you can prove it to yourself if you want to try our method. I am telling you that you are great, and I can prove it to you if you want to try. Yes, that’s what I am going to show you how. That’s the silent Sound(=Heavenly Sound), the teaching of God. That’s the “Word” in the Bible. That’s why we call this Method “Immediate Enlightenment.”

The Mercy of God: Questions and Answers, Part 3 of 4, Nov. 27, 1999

God is all merciful and compassionate. How do You explain earthquakes, tidal waves, etc.? Your views on reincarnation, worship of ancestors, its benefits, the law of karma, cause and effect, and what do You say is the common thread that could unite all religions? How do we rid ourselves of our ego? Is there such a thing as evil spirits? How can I be and lead a spiritual life coming from a very formal religious Islamic background? How do I know what God expects of me, so as for me to practice and master those requirements? Can Master please explain to me who or what is the source of Her inspiration?

From Supreme Master Ching Hai’s Book “Secrets to Effortless Spiritual Practice,” Part 2 of 2

Love your family, truly love them, and they will love you, too. Then, due to this love, we will feel very lively and happy. It will be easy for us to accept people from outside, and to love others. Try it when you return home. This is the path to being happy. We love others because we want to be comfortable and happy. The more we offer our love to others, the more others will love us. When all the people love each other, how comfortable that will be!

From I-Kuan Tao Teaching: Ten Admonishments From Huang-Mu To The Children, Part 2 of 2

Eternal Venerable Mother said, "I admonish my sons and daughters, practicing for the True Self is the most important. The life of a human is like that of a May fly, born in the morning and die the same night. Day in and day out, you work and labor hard, running back and forth. Thousands of experiences and chores are like morning dew or frost on grass. My children, even if you are millionaires with thousands of acres of land, that harvest ten thousand bushels, the most you can eat in a day is one liter.”

From the Philosophy of Socrates: Meno by Plato, Part 2 of 2

Meno: Well then, courage, I consider, is a virtue, and temperance, and wisdom, and loftiness of mind; and there are a great many others. Socrates: Once more, Meno, we are in the same plight: again we have found a number of virtues when we were looking for one, though not in the same way as we did just now; but the one that runs through them all, this we are not able to find.

From the Philosophy of Socrates: Meno by Plato, Part 1 of 2

Around 469 BC, Socrates was born in Athens, Greece. Many people consider him to be the father of Western philosophy. He believed that an individual’s main purpose on Earth is to discuss the truth. He state that most people focus their lives around their families, careers, and social responsibilities, when, in fact, they should be concerned about the welfare of their souls. With compassion for all life, Socrates followed and promoted a vegetarian, meaning animal free diet.

Buddha Pronounces the Sūtra of Maitreya Bodhisattva’s Attainment of Buddhahood, Part 6 of 6

The venerable Śāriputta and the venerable Ānanda rose from their seats, made obeisance to the Buddha, and knelt on their right knees. Joining their palms, they asked the Buddha, “World-Honored One, what is the name of this sūtra? How should we uphold it?” The Buddha told Ānanda, “You should remember it well and expound it separately to all gods and humans. Do not be the person who will finally terminate the Dharma. The tenet of this Dharma is that all sentient beings should end the five rebellious acts, annihilate the hindrances caused by afflictions, karma, and requitals, and cultivate loving kindness, in order to walk with Maitreya Buddha. Accept and uphold it as such. This sūtra is also called All Sentient Beings, by hearing Maitreya Buddha’s name, Definitely Avoiding the World of the Five Turbidities and Not Going Down the Evil Life-Path. Accept and uphold it al such. It is also called The Heart of Loving kindness, No Killing and No Eating Flesh. Accept and uphold it as such.
