Baha’i Faith’s “Gems of Divine Mysteries” Paragraphs 77-92

Baha’u’llah was the teacher and the founder of the Baha’i Faith. He and his teachings are believed to be prophesied in Buddhism,Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and other religions. Baha’u’llah was born in 1817 in Tehran, Persia in present-day Iran. The word Baha means ‘glory’ or ‘splendor'. The Baha’i Faith rests on three core principles: unity of God, unity of religion, and unity of humankind. Approximately 7 million people today in many countries adhere to the Bahai’i faith. Their scriptures are translated into 800 languages, and there are houses of worship in just about every corner of the world. Baha’i principles envision an ideal society. They are gender equality; elimination of all forms of prejudice whether religious, racial, class or national; harmony of religion and science; universal opportunity of education for all; a universal auxiliary language which all humanity can use to cooperate quickly with one another; a judicious world government and the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty.

The Best Way to Learn is through Experience, Part 2 of 3, May 9, 1993

We present to you the following discussion between Supreme Master Ching Hai and General Jun Kwan in Seoul, Korea. “Because humans are not only the body and not only physical actions, but the spirit. And in Korea, we have the sigh like this. And one is black, the other one is white. This represents negative or physical, the physical. This one is Heaven, positive and spirit. If we only develop here, we have half empty, not yet, and we’re unhappy, like hungry.” “So, if you’re already in the army, you stay in the army; just develop this spot."

Selection from Leo Tolstoy’s Book “Bethink Yourselves!” Part 2 of 2

“Bethink Yourselves!” by Leo Tolstoy was published in 1904. The call for awakening of those who started the war and also those involved in the war under the pretext of religion, race and patriotism. Chapter 7: Bereft of religion, men possessing enormous power over the forces of nature are like children to whom powder or explosive gas has been given as a plaything. For men there is only one way of being free – by uniting his will with the will of God. Chapter 8: Answer this question by recognizing the law of life to lie in loving others and being in their service. This answer was expressed nineteen hundred years ago in the Christian religion.

Now there are three ways in which one may please one’s Guru: first, the disciple should employ his faith and intelligence to gratify his Guru; then, through unmistakable learning and contemplation, he should enter the gate of Mahayana and Vajrayana, and practice them diligently with great determination; then finally, he can please his Guru with his real experiences of Enlightenment, which are produced step by step through his devotion. I do not like the disciple who talks much; the actual practice is far more important. Until the full Realization of Truth is gained, he should shut his mouth and work at his meditation.

From Mohism’s Book of Mozi: Book 3 – Identification with the Superior Part 2 of 3

Mozi or Mo Tzu was a Chinese philosopher who lived around 460 BC to 391. He was a pacifist who traveled from one region to another to try to convince rulers from their plans of conquest. Mo Tzu’s teachings encompass self-reflection to attain true self knowledge, universal love and enlightened self-interest in social relations. He advocated self-restraint in which a person would indulge in neither material norSpiritual extravagance. His philosophy encompassed the concept that one must do actions which brought the most benefit for the general welfare of all. People might then ask, "At the present time, rulers are not absent from the empire. Why then is there disorder in the empire?" We now present an excerpt of Mo Tzu’s teachings, “Identification with the Superior” from the book Mozi.

The Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh, and the ancient writings of the Talmud, embody the beliefs and practices of Judaism. Present in every aspect of the religion is a single, omniscient, and compassionate God. The central authority of Judaism is vested in the sacred texts, traditions, and rabbis. The word rabbi is used to address a religious teacher or master.

Juice Fast for Peace-Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai, Part 2 of 5, March 7, 2009

The planet is our home. All evidence points out that meat is the number one cause of our planetary problem. How can we take measures , not from rising sea levels, but also all the similar consequences of global warming? Not only the ice, but also the permafrost will melt, which could potentially release billions of tons of methane gas from underneath, or hydrogen sulfide. Except we turn to a virtuous way of life, then we are connected with Heaven because Heaven is virtuous and love and blessing. If we’re connected with that, then we are one with that, then we are protected ourselves.

“Revered One, since your mind no longer changes, there is no need for you to practice meditation. Therefore, for the sake of sentient beings please come to our village and preach the Dharma for us.” Milarepa replied,” Practicing meditation in solitude is, in itself, a service to the people. Although my mind no longer changes, it is still a good tradition for a great yogi to remain in solitude.”

Messages of Easter - Interview with Seventh Day Adventist Pastor Luis Diego Clare, Part 2 of 2

Is there any inspiration from the Bible to encourage people to be a vegetarian? Pastor Luis Diego Clare said, "Sure!" Verse 29 of Chapter 1 of Genesis tells us, ”29 And God said, 'Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.'" This was what God planned for humans to eat. So, we should teach people to eat healthy, to eat herbs, cereals, beans, grain, seeds. When you eat flesh it breaks your mind on the spiritual side.

Wisdom, honor and wealth are in the laps of those whose hearts remain permeated with the Lord. O Nanak, know the True Lord as True. Serving Him, peace is obtained; you shall go to His Court with honor. The Nectar of Truth of is not fermented from molasses. The True Name is contained within it. I am a sacrifice to those who hear and chant the True Name. Burn emotion attachment, and grind it into ink. Transform your intelligence into purest of paper. Make the love of the Lord your pen, and let your consciousness be the scribe. Then, seek the Guru’s Instructions, and record these deliberations.

From the Holy Bible: Gospel of Matthew, Excerpts of Chaps 18, 20-21

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered,” I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”At that time, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said, “I tell you the truth - unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

From Jainism’s Holy Akaranga Sutra, Book II – Uttarâdhyayana: Lectures 3-6, Part 1 of 2

Having been born as a man, having heard the Law, believing in it, and fulfilling it strenuously, an ascetic should restrain himself and shake off sinfulness. The pious obtain purity, and the pure stand firmly in the Law: the soul afterwards reaches the highest Nirvâna(paradise). Understand the world, be impartial like a sage, and guard one’s self. External things weaken the intellect and allure many; therefore keep them out of your mind. Keep off delusion, remove pride, do not practice deceit, leave off greed. Desire virtues till the end of your life. Death with one’s will is that of wise men.

From Judaism’s Holy Tanakh: Book of Tehillim (Psalms), Excerpts from Chapters 32-37, Part 2 of 2

Join us in listening to the great wisdom of the Holy Tanakh, giving us moments of remembrance of our spiritual Self. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned. Happy is the man unto whom HaShem counteth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Rejoice in HaShem, Oye righteous, praise is comely for the upright. I will bless HaShem at all times. Thy lovingkindness, O HaShem, is in the Heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies. Trust in HaShem, and do good.

The Loving Heart of Jainism – Ancient Wisdom Guiding Modern Lives, Part 1 of 2

Jainism seeks to attain enlightenment and liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth. Jain practitioners strive to achieve this by following the five ethical principles, which govern thought, speech, and action. In accordance to their beliefs of ahimsa and compassion, all devotees follow a strict vegetarian diet. The “three jewels” or “triple gems” of Jainism-right vision, right knowledge, and right conduct-give the Jain practitioners a path to liberation to return to the state where the soul has shed its karmic bonds completely and achieved to ultimate goal of divine consciousness.

Collection of Cao Đài Holy Messages: Book 1 - Lessons 61, 64, 65, 67

Since time immemorial, human beings on Earth are merely travelers. Fame, position, and wealth in life are nothing but a dream. The world is blessed with the light of the Most Compassionate One, Which guides people out of darkness and ignorance. Aspire for spiritual attainment instead of worldly achievements. Rely on one‘s virtues to climb up to celestial realms so as to know the heavenly plans. Detachment from all worldly things is difficult. Few people aspire for heavenly realms, yet many are finding their way into the abyss. The Great Way has come to earth to guide people; without it even Holy Water would not be able to wash away all sufferance.

The True Lord, the Fromless One, is Himself in His Own Place. I have heard, over and over again, and so I tell the tale; as it pleases You, Lord, please instill within me the yearning for You. You are the One True Lord and Master of all the other beings, of so many worlds. The pleasures of gold and silver, the pleasures of women, the pleasure of the fragrance of sandalwood, the pleasure of horses, the pleasure of a soft bed in a palace, the pleasure of sweet treats and the pleasure of hearty meals – these pleasures of the human body are so numerous; how can the Naam, the Name of the Lord, find its dwelling in the heart?
