From Hinduism Holy Scripture: Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, Chapters 3 & 4, Read by Lecturer Zorig, Part 2 of 2

The Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna, said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun-god, Vivasvan, and Vivasvan instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Iksvaku. This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. But in course of time the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is, appears to be lost. That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by me to you, because you are My devotee as well as My friend and can therefore understand the transcendental mystery of this science.

Excerpts from the Sacred Texts of Hòa Hảo Buddhism Part 2 of 2

Hòa Hảo Buddhism was founded by Prophet Huynh Phu So in 1939. At a young age, Prophet Huynh Phu So went into the sacred mountains of That So’n and Ta Lo’n and studied under a teacher who imparted to him the knowledge and the ability to cure all illnesses. He attained enlightenment after a period of time. When he emerged from these holy mountains, Prophet Huynh Phu So began to heal people through the use of simple herbs, water, and acupuncture. He also composed six scriptures and hundreds of verses and probes of transcendental values.

From Buddhism’s Sacred Scripture: The Sutra of the Lotus of the Wonderful Dharma, Chapter 1, Part 2 of 3

At that time the Bodhisattva Maitreya questioned Manjushri: Now the World-Honored One has manifested these miraculous signs. But what is the cause of these auspicious portents? At that time Manjushri said to the Bodhisattva and Mahasattva Maitreya and the other great men:“Good men, I suppose that the Buddha, the World-Honored One, wishes now to expound the great Dharma, to rain down the rain of the great Dharma, to blow the conch of the great Dharma, to beat the drum of the great Dharma, to elucidate the meaning of the great Dharma. Good men, in the past I have seen this auspicious portent among the Buddhas. They emitted a beam of light like this, and after that they expounded the great Dharma. Therefore we should know that now, when the present Buddha manifests the light, we will do likewise. He wishes to cause all living beings to hear and understand the Dharma, Which is difficult for all the world to believe. Therefore He has manifested this auspicious portent.”

Selection from Leo Tolstoy’s Book “Bethink Yourselves!” Part 1 of 2

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” This very enlightening saying by Leo Tolstoy is extremely appropriate to all of us who always look outward but never reflect inward. Similarly, we always do things without asking is this what God really wants us to do? Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, commonly referred to in English as Leo Tolstoy, was a famous Russian author and a master of realistic fiction, who wrote the acclaimed novels “War and Peace,” “Anna Karenina” and plus many more.

Four Basic Principles of a Godly Lifestyle: Interview with Rabbi Rami Shapiro, Part 1 of 2

The One River Foundation, headed by Rabbi Rami Shapiro, promotes what they term Perennial Wisdom. This leads into the whole issue of vegetarianism which is a central part of the way I live personally, as part of this Perennial Philosophy. So, when you’re in a spacious mind and you read “love your neighbor as yourself,” you realize that your neighbor is yourself, for all part of the same, body of the Divine reality. So whenever we slaughter an animal in order to consume it, we are causing the animal needless suffering. You have the awakening, you begin to live more compassionately, more justly.

The Loving Heart of Jainism – Ancient Wisdom Guiding Modern Lives, Part 2 of 2

Central to the teachings and practices of this pure religion is the principle of “ahimsa.” Ahimsa means non-violence or causing no harm to living beings. For Jains, the concept of ahimsa goes beyond the idea of not killing. It extends to no harming or insulting other people by speech or by thought. For this reason, Jain practitioners are ever vigilant to guard their thoughts. Because your thoughts are so powerful. And nowadays quantum physicists and quantum physics say: everything is energy.

Divine Love and Wisdom from Emanuel Swedenborg, Part 1 of 2

00:20:04

Divine Love and Wisdom from Emanuel Swedenborg, Part 1 of 2

Love together with wisdom in its very essence is in God. For God loves every one from love in Himself. For things limitless are in such order, successively and simultaneously, that taken together they make a one. It is from this, and this alone, that they can be held together and continually preserved. It is because the Divine Essence itself is love and wisdom, that all things in the universe have relation to good and truth. It is the essential of love not to love self, but to love others, and to be conjoined with others by love. It is the essential of love, to be loved by others. Love consists in this, that its own should be another’s; to feel the joy of another as joy in oneself, that is loving.

From the Sacred Text of the Universal White Brotherhood: The Light, Read by Dedicated Teodor Nikolov, Part 1 of 2

The spiritual lineage of the Universal White Brotherhood was founded by Master Beinsa Douno, also known as Peter Konstantinov Deunov of Bulgaria, in 1897. Today, we present to you the sacred teachings of the Universal White Brotherhood from one of Master Beinsa Douno’s lectures titled, “The Light.” Light is an inner process. It creates human thought and desires; it is a conductor of the spiritual world and exists in the form of ether; it is the wrapping of the human spirit and the human mind. Light is the healthy state of the human mind, an atmosphere in which a person must live all the time. If you have this Light, you can manifest Love and Truth.

The Best Way to Learn is through Experience, Part 3 of 3, May 9, 1993

We present to you the following discussion between Supreme Master Ching Hai and General Jun Kwan in Seoul, Korea. “It’s good for the government, for the military to have a good commander; otherwise it’s just killing and it’s nonsense. Without moral, basic, any organization is no good, and in the army we need morality more, more enlightenment. I am also glad he has the temple here for the soldiers... and a monk, for them. There’s a spiritual reliance for the soldiers; they’re more balanced. It’s very good. If they have some kind of spiritual head or monks, talk to them, they will understand their duty.”

Selection from the Sacred Texts of Hòa Hảo Buddhism, Part 2 of 2

About one week later, one morning, the Master called Mr.VÕ and told him: - You should prepare to welcome your close friends who are arriving soon. Once more he was so shocked, he could not understand how the Master knew this? “Is there any way You can prove it so that we may understand?” He sympathetically looked at them and calmly said, - You should know that science is the child of Buddhism. With the miracles of Buddhism we can’t use the practical science to prove it, because science is within the limits of humans’ knowledge. Whatever you want to do, you use the mind to think. But the evolved ones do it differently.

From Theosophy's Sacred Teachings: Gems of the East - A Birthday Book of Precepts and Axioms, Part 2 of 2

Neither by the eyes, nor by spirit, nor by the sensuous organs, nor by austerity, nor by sacrifices, can we see Brahma. Only the pure, by the light of wisdom and meditation, can see the pure Deity. By perfection in study and meditation the Supreme Spirit becomes manifest; study is one eye to behold it, and meditation is the other. Alas! We reap what seed we sow; the hands that smite us are our own. Thoughts alone cause the round of rebirths in this world; let a man strive to purify his thoughts, what a man thinks, that he is: this is the old secret.

From Hinduism’s Sacred Text: Devi Bhagavatam, Fourth Book, Chapter 4, Part 2 of 2

We now present an excerpt of Hinduism’s sacred text: verses on Adharma by Maharsi Veda Vyasa. It is only the Munis and Hermits that can observe pure truth; They exist as perfect examples; their case is quite separate. The sense organs, Indriyas, confound the Buddhi (rational) and make one follow the path of enjoying sensual things. Mind is attached to senses and follows diverse ways, urged on furiously by the three Gunas (attributes of nature: purity, passion, and delusion). Persons when they do not get their desired objects after have pondered how to secure the sensual objects, take recourse to pretext, and, from that pretext do many sinful acts.

The Great Torah Way of Enlightenment, Reading by Dr. Gabriel Cousens, Part 1 of 2

Among the most established religions in the world, Judaism’s history begins around 2000 BC with the Covenant between God and Abraham. Over a thousand years later, the Jewish faithful believe God’s laws and commandments were revealed to Prophet Moses on Mount Sinai, forming the Torah. Rabbi Gabriel Cousens, MD said, "Torah, means enlightenment. It is multi-leveled; the first level is mitzvot, which are proper ways of being, good acts, positive acts and avoidance acts; the next level is the love of God; the third is the direct merging with God.

The Sutra on the Original Vows and the Attainment of Merits of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Chapter 1, Part 1 of 2

The Sutra on the Original Vows and the Attainment of Merits of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Chapter 1, Part 1 of 2

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is deeply respected and very well known for His vow to take responsibility for the instruction of all beings in the six worlds between the departure of Gautama Buddha and the rise of Maitreya, as well as His vow not to achieve Buddhahood until all hells are emptied. He is therefore often regarded as the Bodhisattva of hell-beings. The Sutra on the Original Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is a Mahayana Sutra teaching about Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and is one of the more popular Sutra in Buddhism. The Sutra tells of how Ksitigarbha became a Bodhisattva by making great vows to rescue other sentient beings and a description of how He displayed filial piety in His past lifetimes.
