The Life of Lord Mahavira: Last Calamity-Nails in the Ears, Part 1 of 3

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Last Calamity-Nails in the Ears, Part 1 of 3

We’re human, it’s easier for us to take care of ourselves and to protect our physical wellness. Animals, they don’t have a chance. They just have their burrows, and they have their little leaves on top of them. Insects and all that, they have no way to build a lot of rooms and protective houses, so we’d better not disturb them too much. There are more people today. They still sit outside? Anyone staying up there? (They have come down.) Have they? OK. Actually, we can accommodate more than 10 thousand people. If not possible, we can take turns. Stay in tents, and then we have our own room and house. Then take turn to see me. No problem. I can walk, I think. (That’s great.) I’ve practiced in the house for a while, just now. I’ll walk for as long as I can, OK? Wow! Then I should wear a hat. (Master, we have prepared.) You have? OK. I am also colorful, right? More or less the same. (Master, You are so beautiful! You are so beautiful!) Thank you. I don’t think I can go all the way in. So… I’d better summon my dragon or my horse, OK? Please understand, I’m getting old; no longer the same. At least my horse is red. So, it’s OK. We are all red. So soon? Today it’s only the 24th. You’re already wearing such big hats? I can’t wear it, not over my beautiful hair. Maybe later. I’ll need a mirror to wear this. We ladies have to be dignified. OK, good? Is translation also available outside? (Yes.) That’s great. But it’s cold sitting here. What to do? (We are not cold.) It will be too cold to sit like this. No? (We are hot.) No? (We are sweating.) Sweating? (Yes.) That’s great. Sweating is good.I am sorry, it’s like this. If we build a bigger place, then we will cut many trees. And we will damage a lot of the environment. I don’t really like that. The trees won’t like that. And we will ruin many of the habitats of the small animals or big animals around here and they won’t like that; I don’t like that. Even though they cannot talk, they cannot protest, but I protest for them. We can manage. We can manage with these kinds of things. Whatever we already have, we use. Actually, we never can build enough. It’s never big enough. There’s always more children. I keep having more and more children all the time; we never have enough room no matter how big you build. So, we’d better protect what we have and take care, repair and make it always ready for the elderly and the not-well-feeling and children; the vulnerable. And the strong like me just sit outside. I also sit outside to meditate at night, less easy to fall asleep. I don’t know, maybe I sleep. When I sleep, I do not know, do I? Maybe I slept also during meditation. I copy from you. I learn. Thousands of you teach me many things. So, it’s OK. (OK. Yes.)Actually, Taiwan (Formosa) weather is very accommodating. It’s never too cold. (Yes.) And never too hot. You know why? Because we have the surrounding sea, ocean, and the ocean water regulates the temperature inland and the island is small, therefore, all sides are surrounded by ocean; so the whole island is regulated somehow. Even now, it’s supposed to be winter already or not? Or is it autumn? (Right.) (Winter.) Is it winter already? (It is winter.) Winter. It’s still very warm, right? (Yes.) We don’t feel very, very cold at all, right? (No.) So, it’s OK. (Yes.) Taiwan (Formosa) is getting better. OK then, I’ll go now. (Thank You.) (Hallo, Master.) Thank you, all the working staff. All of you. If you were not here, we wouldn’t be able to hold the retreat. That’d be miserable. Thank you very much for your support. Thank you, thank you. I said thank you, all the workers that sacrifice their time and their labor to make our retreat pleasant and successful. I thank them all. One thousand plus strong workers for your retreat. You have to thank them. Big applause for the workers. Me too. I also applaud you. Thank you. Thank you. God bless you. Buddha bless you. May you progress very fast spiritually. Infinite merits. Thank you. I don’t know if I stand up, if I look better or not. No. OK, thank you, everyone. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Voila! Very good.(Master is God. Hallo, Master. Master is very beautiful.) Can you still see my eyes? Can you? I have to protect them, or my eyes would keep tearing up. (Hallo, Master. I love You.) (Hallo, Master. Master, I love You.) (Hallo, Master. Hallo, Master.) Hallo! Hallo comrades! Hallo comrades! Thank you, comrades from China. (Master is so beautiful. Hallo, Master. Master, I love You.) (Merry Christmas.) I’m here, guys. How are you? (Very good. Thank You, Master.) You’re still here? Very good. Why are you crying? First time you see me? First time? Oh, me too. But I cannot cry, it will ruin my makeup. Amitabha Buddha. (Amitabha Buddha.) I’m glad to see you, all of you. I’m so happy to see you. Really, it’s truly like that. You, the Westerners, have very big attraction power. That’s why I put you in the front, so I cannot not see you. And the monks and nuns also. Actually it’s true like that. Sometime I have to check some of the scripts or the videos that we made a long time ago in Europe or elsewhere, where we were together, with a lot of Westerners, and the way you laughed, the way you eagerly listened and all that, just touched me so much. So, that’s the reason we have the retreat again. Because… OK, go ahead, clap yourselves. Clap your own attraction power. OK, enough, man! People might think you are too proud. Because it’s more normal if the Taiwanese (Formosan) or the Aulacese (Vietnamese) or the Asians, they like me because I look like them. You like what you look like. That’s why husband and wife sometimes, they look like each other very much. Or dogs and owners, caretakers, look very much similar, even turtles. Yeah, yeah, yeah! I’m not joking! When I was in Europe, I knew one woman, she raised a turtle, tortoise, you know, small one? Very small, garden one. And she looked so much like that! I never knew that even humans can look like turtles. That surprised me a lot. I always knew maybe dogs and cats they can look like humans, but turtles! The way her mouth and her face, I don’t know, just looked so much alike. Even if they went out together, people might think they are twins, biological twins. I’m telling you. And then another time, I knew also one guy, he had a fish tank.I’m just standing for a while until my high heels bug me, and then I will sit down. Not that it makes very much difference at all. But the high heels do bug you. I really admire the beautiful businesswomen, they walk all day on the high heels. Image this kind! Walk all day! Walk all day on it. And they run also. I saw even a doctor did that. She was beautiful and she was very tall already. I wondered why she had to wear high heels, torturing her feet. But she ran even. Doctors, they don’t always… Maybe not as high as mine, but high enough to… Oh, my God. OK, never mind. We women are also sometimes funny. We do everything to please the men. Not I, no, I just wear that. I’m not wearing that to please you. I just have to. It belongs to the job, you know already. By now, maybe. I wonder where they dig out all these AP, Ancient Predictions? I never knew they existed except Nostradamus. I read a few quatrains, which I did not understand anything. I was in France of course, and the people read this and that; in the library you can read anything, but I did not understand a thing. What is that with the “The Ocean religion will win,” and blah blah blah. At that time, I did not know. And the Aulacese (Vietnamese) prediction, the Korean prediction, of course, I knew nothing about them. I was just like you, first time I heard about all these things. It’s amazing. I don’t know if I fit the description, but I’m trying very hard.Where was I before then? (Turtle.) Turtle? OK, fine. She looked exactly the same like the turtle, like twins. And the turtle was only this big, my hand only, as my palm only. She’s European; she was not very tall, but of course, taller than me. How can they look so much alike? I was always looking and amazed. And there was a guy, I knew a French guy who had an aquarium, and one of the fish in the tank that he loved the most. He always went next to the tank and called that fish, “Tu tu tu tu. Fishy, fishy, fishy.” And then he looked exactly like that one! My God! The one that, I don't know, it’s kind of a… has a black and brown, and a little bit golden stripe around it. They are very fanciful. But a small fish, for the tank. He always went, “Fishy, fishy, fishy” and that one would come to him, to his finger, and then they both look exactly the same. I thought, if the fish didn't need water, he could take him out for a walk, and I am sure they would think, "Oh, it's a twin, biological twin." So much alike! Have you ever seen this thing? No. If you see any fish tank and the owner loves the fish, you watch, exactly the same. Dogs and cats we see, so common. But birds also, some bird caretakers they look exactly like the bird that he or she likes. Dogs are also not all that simple to look alike, but they do. Dogs look different from us, but they do look the same like the owner, I don't know why. Especially the pug, you know the one, the crush-faced pug. You don't see his nose anywhere; his nose and his mouth are identical. They’re all flat faced, but can look like the owner! You've seen them, the pug, P-U-G. The nose doesn't... You don't see the nose. It’s just all flat. But then the owner also looks alike. I can't believe all that. I hope I don't look like any of you around here because then I won't fit the description, do I?Never mind. No matter what, we never have enough room. In the beginning, I had only a small little building with the metal sheet, fit about 500 people. I thought it was a lot already. But later, it was demolished and now we don't have big enough anyway. Thank God I told you already, that they have a mortgage, they have job, they have children, they have a wife, they have the controlling system at home, so they can't all come here. Otherwise, we’d be in trouble. I am glad you have made it and I am really happy to see you. It was just not that easy sometimes, to make it, for me. All right, then. You still can see my eyes? No? (Yes.) (Yes.) Good. Good. So, this is the last trial story of Lord Mahavira. Anyway, happy retreat. Merry Christmas. (Thank You.) Celebrating Christmas, don’t forget the Buddhas. And don't forget me either. This is a terrible one, but it's short. Oh, not really that short. Never mind, we'll make it.I have not even prepared any presents for you guys. I hope I can just give red envelopes to bribe you and you can buy what you want, may be better, that we have shops around here. Will that do then? Or maybe I’ll wait until the New Year, so I don't have to do it again and again. We have Christmas, and then we have western calendar New Year, and then we have Lunar New Year; it's all come together. How can I, one person, prepare so many presents? I will make it all in one go, like red envelope, if I even have time. Or I’ll just give it to you raw, as is, and you find an envelope to stick it in. Oh man, forgive me. Really, one person cannot do everything. We have people around, but they are all busy with their own stuff. Just for this retreat, we have like 1,500 something people working, (Wow!) for you. Yes! What do you think? Cooking, cleaning, preparing all these translation systems, decorating… Oh, they decorated before already, but still have a lot of work to do. Transportation. Some small cases here and there; not everybody went on the buses. And have to answer the phone, if somebody gets lost in the chicken farm, somewhere around here. If I were to come here by car, I would be lost again. I always got lost, before, in Hsihu. Even though I lived there long, I always got lost when I came home. Always. Always depended on the neighbors to bring me home. Because sometimes the taxi also cannot find. It's a mountainous area. There's no exact address. No number. No direction sign; or not too many things that are more convenient like in the city. Sit where you are, because I might not see you. Oh, hallo. You are still there? Still there? (We are here.) Still there. OK. I'm not Santa Claus, so I cannot wear this actually. This symbolizes Santa Claus. I think I’ll let all of you be Santa Claus. I'll wear this tonight, maybe, or tomorrow. I'll put it there. It's not yet time, anyway. It has all this bling, bling stuff. Very cute.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Last Calamity-Nails in the Ears, Part 2 of 3

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Last Calamity-Nails in the Ears, Part 2 of 3

So, the Lord Mahavira mostly, He always stood. We read in this story that He was standing to meditate. The reason He did that was because He didn't want to fall asleep. Now, I'm reading something for you. This is the last calamity for Lord Mahavira, namely, “Nails in the Ears.” It's terrible. Imagine that? Be prepared. Otherwise, you might feel too shocked, and too painful, mentally. "After spending the 12th monsoon-stay of His period of practices in Champa, Lord Mahavira Swami arrived outside a village named Chhammani and stood in meditation. It was dusk and a cowherd was returning home from his farm. He said, 'Ascetic! Please look after my oxen. I will return in a few minutes.'"By the way, cameramen, you have to also show this side sometimes. It's bias. Because I saw on Supreme Master TV, mostly only show this side. And this side, just a split second sometimes. What have you against the men, my men? My handsome men. Somebody else's husbands. But we are also married somehow, spiritually. Different relationship. And I'm glad it's that way. Actually, like Mother Teresa, she also wore a ring, like all the nuns in her order. Or maybe some other nuns in other orders as well, they wear a ring. It symbolizes the marrying to Jesus. So they stay single. Be faithful to one husband only, even though He no longer exists. If they know what their husband looks like now, if He ever comes back. He might not look the same. Yeah! Nobody looks the same all the time, during incarnations, after incarnations.I want to say something here. I want to put the calendar here. You know when you think Lord Mahavira is just standing to meditate all the time, standing, and you think it's easy, it's not. We are not donkeys. Donkeys and horses, they can sleep standing. They have four columns for support. And even if you sleep, with the two hands in the front, two feet, you don't feel the same like the donkey. They have a different mechanism. The make-up of the body is different. Their power is different. They're born that way. They're endowed with that ability. We cannot. So, the Lord Mahavira mostly, He always stood. We read in this story that He was standing to meditate. The reason He did that was because He didn't want to fall asleep. If you are sitting, the way you are in samadhi, it's very easy to fall asleep. It's obvious. Well, not when I am there. Maybe you try very hard to nod to my talk, but I'm not sure your eyes are also nodding at the same time. Very difficult for you, I'm sorry, because you have jet lag, and good excuse, and also eat a lot of good food. And here you have nothing to do. No husbands, no wives, no telephone, no computer, no business, nada (nothing). Only meditation, so, it's easy to relax. Even if you have nothing to do, but if you stand for a long time, you'll feel tired. Maybe maximum 20 minutes, 30 minutes. Maybe you can try it at home. Better put a lot of cushions around. Because the way you sit, you’re already so easy to... You love the earth, I know, so you always try to... It's always like you gravitate towards the earth somehow. So if you stand a long time, I'm worried about your floor. You might put a dent everywhere. So, better put cushions around, in case. So maybe, better just sit.So, the cowherd just told the Lord Mahavira, “Ascetic, look after my cows.” And then left, just like that, as if the practitioners have nothing else to do but conveniently stand somewhere and they look after his household work. Like last time, I told you, in Taiwan (Formosa), the Taiwanese (Formosan) people got sick so easily, and they took a lot of medicine easily, so they got more sick easily. So, we have a lot of hospitals, even not enough. Even one nun, the compassionate Master Cheng Yen, I think; she had to found a foundation and gather all the good doctors and nurses to build some hospitals for Taiwan (Formosa). A nun is supposed to follow the Buddha, don’t do much work, except in the ashram, and follow the Buddha; go everywhere for alms or for preaching, or go around to preach to lay people, to awaken their aspiration for enlightenment. But she had to worry, take care of administrative problems, getting the funds to build the hospital and organizing builders or architects, and what not. It’s not so easy to find architects everywhere. Even in our group, I think we have only two or three architects. I mean, in Taiwan (Formosa). I’m not talking about others abroad; we have more, of course. So, for a nun to be able to do that, she sacrificed a lot of her practicing time, because of her compassion. Like, they call it Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation. What is it in Chinese? (Tzu Chi Foundation.) Meaning compassionate meritorious association. So, in order to find all these architects and builders and materials on the small island like this, it was not all that easy for her. I know that from my own experience. Or maybe she had better luck; she found better architects, better disciples, better builder disciples, or outside disciples or outside non-disciples. I don’t know. But my experience is totally very, very below zero disappointment. I also do not blame them, because maybe it’s my price that I have to pay. It’s just that even if it’s the price, it’s difficult to find people to work. It’s very unfavorable for my job to organize things and to build things for all of you to come, to be comfortable, to sit comfortable against the elements; especially for seven-days, we have no break. We have to meditate day and night. You should meditate at night also. You try. Only one week is not much.I told you the story about Roshi Kapleau already. For two weeks long, they meditated in the temple in Japan. And if you sleep, they’d go and beat you. Not painfully, just to wake you up, a little bit. And, lucky they don’t have a lot of people there to meditate. If that temple had, like you here, so many numbers, I think the monk would be very tired. Going beating everybody, all of you. I don’t see anyone that does not deserve to be beaten. I mean at different times, of course. You take turns, you know that. Maybe the first group takes a relaxing posture and then the next one. You take turns somehow, but even then, so many people to wake up, I think the monk would be very, very exhausted. So, they meditated day and night for two weeks long. And after the retreat was over, the master requested to meditate one more week. So Roshi Kapleau said, “No, no, I can’t. I’m American. I can’t.” Americans, they have longer legs, you know. They’re not used to squashing on the floor, blah, blah, blah. But then, the master said, “You can do more than you think. Just sit, meditate.” And he did it, like other monks in the temple. That was him. If it was me, I don’t know. I would just do like you do. Like disciple, like Master. I just enjoy my dream, somewhere. Ahh! Sorry! Sorry brother, sorry sister, not intentionally. I’m telling you. People are so funny. Not only they don’t go into renunciation, to keep themselves progressing in the spiritual practice, they even see one who tried to practice, like He had nothing to do. “Take care of my cows,” just like that. Last time, there was another cowherd also told Lord Mahavira to take care of his cows. And then the cows got lost somewhere and then he blamed Him, he beat Him up, etc. Just like that. People in this world are truly funny, cruel and so ignorant. So un-good. I want to say “bad,” but I don’t. Sometimes, when I’m talking to you, I’m in the present time all the time, and the story becomes vividly present to me, that I forget to speak in the past tense. You should understand. Like instead of “did,” I say “do;” instead of “was,” I say “is.” It’s OK, who cares. I’m not pretending to be an English professor and knowing all the English grammar, or stuff like that. Nowadays, I’m too busy. Sometimes, like I wrote something, commented on some of the script, and I wrote the word, “Taiwan,” but I said only “Taiwa.” I forgot the “n” at the end and continued writing. Until later, somebody asked me, “What is ‘Tai?’ Tai what, Master?” So I said, “You guess, what else? Is there any other ‘Tai’ around here?” I covered myself. I wouldn’t admit that I was wrong. Just one “n.” Just put it on and be quiet. Sometimes I put one “l” less or one “t” more, because I write quicker than I can think, quicker than my mind can react. The inspiration comes out quickly, even during the working time. Not just during a lecture or anything. So, it’s like that. Sometimes, I write one “n” less or one “e” more. Who cares? Doesn’t matter. I just want to let you know that I’m not uneducated. OK? (OK.) In case any of you think like that, it’s wrong. Think again. I have a doctor’s degree. No. For what? For what? Just for fun. I couldn’t make any use of that doctor’s degree anyway. I don’t even know where I put it right now. I keep moving all the time; I forget many things. I lost many things; all useless things anyway. Whatever doesn’t belong to the spiritual realm, is all useless if you lost it. They’re only useful when you have to use it for more noble purposes. Otherwise, they’re all useless. So, the cowherd, after leaving the cows to the reluctant cowboy, Lord Mahavira, he left. Just like that. Didn’t even wait for the Lord Mahavira to come out of samadhi and nod in agreement or not. Just said, “Take care of my cows, you ascetic.” And then left. So, “The cowherd went into the village and returned a little late. The oxen had drifted away grazing. Not finding his oxen, he asked, ‘Ascetic, where are my oxen?’” Typical. “Lord Mahavira was in deep meditation still and unaware of all this.” Even if the Lord Mahavira wasn’t in deep meditation, He still could not pay attention to all the cows. There were many of them, and His mind wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on such things. The cowherd asked Him like that. So, the Master wasn't aware of anything like that. So, “The cowherd asked again, and once again, and he did not get any response. He got irritated and shouted, ‘You, hypocrite! Are you deaf? Don't you hear anything?’ Lord Mahavira still did not respond.” When the soul goes somewhere else, you hear nothing. You're not aware of things in this world at all. Absolutely. But it’s different also, depends, yeah? Lord Mahavira was still in the beginning of His practice. Later on, He probably had to meditate with His eyes open and His ears turned on, because He would have a lot of responsibility later on. After He became completely enlightened and worthy to be a teacher, then He had to be all ears, all eyes, all day, 24/7. And that is for sure. So now, this was still the time that He could go deep into the universe and enjoy His own domain and freedom. So, He didn't hear anything. So, “This cowherd lost his temper. ‘You pretender, it seems that both your ears are useless. Wait a minute, I will give you proper treatment.’” Be prepared. You know, right? So, “He picked a long nail like a thorn from a nearby shrub.” Oh, he picked a thorn, some thorns, it looked like a long nail. “…from a nearby shrub of Kans grass and pierced the ears of Lord Mahavira deeply by hammering the thorns in. Even such an excruciating agony did not move Lord Mahavira from His meditation. Neither did it evoke any feeling of anger or aversion in Him.”They’d better not try it on me. Maybe I won't have any aversion, but I might have anger. I will not hide. I will give him something, a piece of my ears or my mind. It’s terrible. So maybe the Lord Mahavira was completely out of His body, which is lucky. Otherwise, it would be excruciatingly painful, more than we can imagine. It goes through your brain and goes to the other side. “Completing His meditation in normal course, He went inside the village for alms. He arrived at the door of a trader named Shiddharth. A friend of the trader was sitting with him. He was a doctor. Both of them gave pure food to Mahashrahman with due respect. Doctor Kharak told Shiddharth, ‘Friend, the face of this Shaman has a divine glow, but there is a shade of tiredness too. Some inner pain is visible in His eyes.’” Maybe He did not feel pain, but some internal organs had pain, so these cells of the internal organs maybe showed the visible sign to the keen doctor. A good doctor. “‘I feel this great Sage suffers from some inner agony.’” Even then, He didn't say anything. My God. What a holy Saint! “Shiddharth replied, ‘Friend, if such a great Sage suffers from some kind of pain, we should immediately go and treat Him.’ After taking alms, Mahashrahman returned. Taking Doctor Kharak with him…” He means, the Lord Mahavira took alms already, so He returned to His meditating place at that moment. “And then Shiddharth took Doctor Kharak with him to go find Lord Mahavira, where He was sitting, where He rested.

The Life of Lord Mahavira: Last Calamity-Nails in the Ears, Part 3 of 3

So that is the end of the story, and it’s the end of all the suffering that Lord Mahavira had to go through during His 12 years of ascetic meditation practice. We really salute Him and are grateful - to all that He had to endure for enlightenment, for the sake of others.“When the two examined Him, they found the tow thorns stuck in His ears.” Still there, He did not even remove it. “Kharak shivered with remorse. The friends then arranged for necessary instruments and medicines. They used some medicated oil and forceps and pulled out the thorns. This caused such an unbearable agony to Lord Mahavira that an anguished cry was forced out of Him.” This was the first time He ever cried. He never did cry or complain before or show any sign of pain. “Blood oozed out of His ears. The doctor dressed the wound with some coagulant.” When he put it in, it was already painful but at least He was in samadhi. Samadhi acted as some kind of anesthetic, so, He did not feel pain. And probably when He woke up, it was time to go for alms, so He went for alms and He was oblivious to the ears’ pain. But then, when it was taken out, the wound opened. And it was so deep in the ears that the doctor had to use some instruments, like forceps to pull it out, and that is when it was painful. So that is the end of the story, and it’s the end of all the suffering that Lord Mahavira had to go through during His 12 years of ascetic meditation practice. We really salute Him and are grateful - to all that He had to endure for enlightenment, for the sake of others. All these sufferings are not for naught. They would benefit the world in some way or another, even without the Lord Mahavira knowing or even without the world people knowing or being grateful for. I treated you all equally, but some are more equal. Sorry, they have been working very hard and whenever they can see me, they should. Maybe recharging a little bit so they can continue working. At least they sacrifice a lot. I mean they don’t think it as a sacrifice, or do you? You dare? Yes, no? No, good. Good answer. Good. No is a good answer today. We just work, don’t have time to even think whether we sacrifice or not. Work very hard, truly very hard. But I cannot think of any other work better for me or for them. If I have to work, this is the work that I would have chosen to do. But still, we are not made of iron or gold. We get tired and our bodies also need a little relaxing or a little change. People say, “A change is as good as a rest.” So, I let them sit around. So, don’t be jealous. If you want to be treated like that, just come. Do working day and night like us. Eating while punching your computer at the same time or watching other things. I do two, three jobs at the same time. Otherwise, I don’t have time. Lucky I know what to do, so when I do some makeup and dressing, I treat it like a standing meditation. Standing, moving meditation like Lord Mahavira. He stands still, I stand moving; but still try to meditate. Are you OK, all of you? (Yes.) Everybody happy? (Yes.) Good. I cannot see you a lot. Number one, because I’m very busy in different ways. Number two, you don’t need me to babysit you. The Master Power is everywhere. And when you’re so near, how can you escape? How can the Master Power escape? It will grab you, groove you, pull you, push you. You breathe in, you eat with it and you sleep with it, you meditate with it. You’re in samadhi with it. How can the Master escape? So, don’t worry if I am here or not here. I’m here just for this 30% comforting you; 70% is done without talking. But of course, you are humans; you still have these ears open, so you like to hear things. So, sometimes I appear, but my time is not regular. I’m not like a clock; two o’clock it rings, then five o’clock it rings. It’s not like that. I also have a human body and other human work. So don’t worry, I’m nearby. And you can’t escape. I can’t escape either. We cannot escape each other. Don’t worry. From Peru, right? You? (Chile.) Oh, from Chile! Sorry, sorry, sorry. Sorry, look similar. I don’t know why. They look similar, the Spanish people. Just like all the Aulacese (Vietnamese) look similar. Sometimes, you don’t know who’s who. I look like one of the Aulacese (Vietnamese) sitting there. Not the man, but the woman. If they wear the same clothes, they’ll look like me. I can have many decoys. There’s another Spanish, he often comes here. Look, look at this. Both of you, stand up. You and you, stand up. Look at them, look at them. Aren’t they twins? You, not so much, but the two of them. Turn around, turn around. Turn around so people see. Turn around. One is from Chile, the other one from? (Argentina.) Argentina. The other one? (Chile.) Chile also, but you see they look similar, right? (Yes.) This one, that’s why I was thinking. There’s another one from Peru, looks like him too. He’s a doctor, a medical doctor. He looks like you. Is that right? There’s one, he hosted on our Supreme Master TV sometimes. OK, please sit down. Sit. Don’t you think so? (Yes.) This one, that one, look like twins. The middle one looks like maybe, not really, like cousin or something. But these two look very much alike. (Yes.) Like the turtle and the woman I was talking about, or the fish. “Fishy, fishy, fishy.”This week I want you to talk also. So you prepare something, and maybe you write it down. You jot down your main points or you write the whole story, your experience or something you want to ask me about spiritual practice. And make it short, simple. Save time for other better things. Any questions right now or anyone wants to talk right now? Or is your stomach already telling you things? It’s four o’clock. Your stomach will tell you. I don’t blame you if it does, because it’s mealtime. You ate only once today, right? Once this morning, right? (Yes.) Correct or cheating? It’s OK. Now and then, you fast a little bit. At least fast from breakfast till lunch or dinner, to give your body a little rest. I haven’t eaten my breakfast. They brought it but I haven’t had the time to do it. I need to do some urgent work for Supreme Master Television checking some scripts, and some Shining World Award, that I have to sign, that I have to write. I have to write for which we have award. And that is one thing. Another thing is, even good things you cannot take a lot and digest. I bet you have forgotten already what I have just told you, something, just now. That’s why many times I asked you, “What did I just say?” Everybody looks at everybody else. “You tell, you tell.” “He, she, tell Master.” “No. I was just scratching my ears,” she said. You forget so quickly. Therefore, sometimes I also forget. So sometimes, when I happen to see or read or hear my old lecture, I was also laughing and very happy to hear it, as if somebody else spoke it. And then I thought, “Wow, this woman, not bad. Truly! She can talk!” Because sometimes, it’s so punctuated, so to the point and so real and so logical; not just talk, talk, but true experience. Good translation? (Yes.) Bravo. Thank you, translators, and thank you all of you hufas, everybody. And cameramen as well. Cameramen can also listen? Also have translation? Do the guards have that? No? (Don’t have.) Give it to them in the future. Listen to instructions with one ear and listen to the lecture with the other ear. OK? Then it is not so boring. It’s also very tiring sitting or standing for too long. Thank you, everyone. Thank you.Remember here, cameramen on the left side. Otherwise, the men feel left out. “Treating us like that! We are men of the house, you know? At home, my wife listens to all of my big decisions. And she only takes care of small decisions, like who’s going to be the president, where do the kids go to school. I take care of all the greater decisions at home.” Don’t get too spoiled. Don’t be too spoiled by your wife at home. Be a man, but not spoiled. Your mother spoiled you enough already since you were born. So make sure you relearn. Be independent. Be good. Learn to cook also. In case one day, she gets mad, she doesn’t cook, then you won’t be starving. Yeah, before, when I still had a lot of monks and nuns together, I forced all the monks to cook also, learn how to cook. And then forced all the nuns to learn driving. And some of them learned electrical wiring. Not very professional, but at least some basics. If we have time, we should learn things – I mean only necessary. Like in the ashram we have to be independent; we have to learn to do many things, not rely on the lay people, because we even have to take care of the lay people when they come. Before, we used to have to take them from downhill up to the ashram. Some elderly could not walk very far and all that, so the monks and nuns at that time worked also very hard. But we had fun, because we didn’t have Supreme Master Television. So, after Sunday retreat was over or after the retreat was over, we made a barbeque and we sang songs and stuff like that. Or sometimes we watched some fun video together. But nowadays, oh, so tired. No time, no time. They have to do other work outside the ashram, and I have to do the other work inside the ashram. So nowadays, mostly it’s the outside normal disciples that take care of all the administration and work. Before, it was mostly only the monks and nuns.I had maybe 500 plus monks and nuns before. Slowly it dwindled. You guys, women and men outside, so much attractive power. And all my monks and nuns slowly go with the flow. So, I don’t have many monks and nuns nowadays anymore anyway. And I have to dispatch them to go do other work: The Loving Food company, Loving Hut restaurants in different countries. It’s OK also if they don’t see me often anymore. Before, they see me every day almost. Now, no. They have to take care of the job. They have seen me enough. That’s what I said. The lay disciples, they don’t often see me, so now it’s their turn; they can see me more. That’s fair. Before, the nuns and monks saw me all the time. At least once a week we barbequed; and I took them everywhere. Now it’s time to grow up and to do some work. Monks or not, nuns or not; we all have to work. So, I’ll see you later, maybe, or tomorrow.By the way, I have been warned, that if I come out to see you today, your karma will ruin my reputation, but I still come. I said, “Oh, my reputation is already ruined long ago, in the different parts of the world, to different people. So, I don’t care if it’s ruined a little bit more. As long as I can teach one or two people left over, that’s OK with me. I feel it’s worthwhile. So, I don’t care. See you then. What is this for? Scratch it? Ah! Yeah, yeah. It’s for scratching! I have to use it because they put it here already. Whether I’m itching or not. Because if you don’t use, it’s a pity, right? OK, see you. I can’t believe it. I only scratched once, last week, right? Over all these years, and then I have the scratcher already. Lucky I don’t complain about anything else. Amitabha Buddha.Very good. Help please. Is that you? (Yes, Master.) You can come? (Yes.) Not busy? (I have been, but I…) You had to come, right? (I had to come, yes.) OK, my love, welcome. I was thinking of you the other day. When you were reading something, doing some show, and then I was thinking whether or not you can come. Because you have children and are single and all that. (Yes. That’s taken care of.) They’re OK, your parents, right? (My mom, their nan’s looking after them for a few weeks. I’ve come for two weeks here.) Very good. Two weeks? (Yes.) Good. Everything OK? (So-so…) We survive. (Yes, we survive.) You know what, just trust in God. (Yes.) And do our best. (Things are good though, but thank You.) Physically, we do our best. (Yes.) Mentally, trust in God. That’s all we can do. (Yes.) Nothing else we can do in this world. They just trap us everywhere. (Yes.) Normally, we are free and no care in the world, even with little money and little studio, we’re happy. And we come to retreats often, see Master whenever we want. And suddenly, there’s a beauty passing by and then everything else begins anew! New history, or vice versa. I don’t mean just women, men also. Suddenly a handsome… I am here, man. When I turn here, he puts there. Your girlfriend didn’t teach you well. So, we were free, and very happy until a handsome face just, even just a split-second, passes by, “Huh! Who’s that?” And then we begin anew again. And even one time, is not enough. Next time, same stuff again. No, never again! Never, never, never fall in love again. And then it begins anew again. I don’t know, how stupid can humans be? I’m telling you, men and women alike, including myself. Of course, I fell in love before, what do you think? Luckily, I know. OK, ciao. OK, guys. I need some handsome muscle. Anybody? Are you big enough there? I’m very weighty nowadays. I am not that skinny anymore. How big is your girlfriend? Did you practice at home? OK. No matter what, men are always stronger. OK, now. Go have some food. I’ll see you soon.(We love You.) Love you, too. (Love You. We love You. Love You.) Love you, love you, love you. (Thank You, Master.) Love you. Love you. (Master, I love You.) I love you. (Hallo, Master.) Love you. I love you. (Hallo, Master.) Any Thai people here? I love you. Thank you. (O Master! Beautiful! Master is so beautiful.) Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. (We love You, Master.) Thank you. Thank you, comrades. (We love You very much.) Maybe next year, we can let everybody come.

Să-i urmaţi pe ei.

The Best Thing Is Enlightenment, Part 1 of 6

00:32:06

The Best Thing Is Enlightenment, Part 1 of 6

So, you have to check your own inner quality and inner sincerity, not to check the Master. And then everything will be all right. Then a real Master, the Master that is according to your level, will come. (How are You, Master? Master, You look beautiful.) Hallo everybody. Everyone OK? All right. Again? Anybody needs a hold? OK. Hold slowly, otherwise my hands… I’ll see you inside. You know, I'm very sincere. (Thank You, Master.) The most devoted Master. OK, we go inside, then you can shake more hands and squeeze them, whatever you want. How are you? Everything OK? Excuse us. Want to take a photo with me? Come over. Like this you don’t see your face. Hey, girl. OK. Thank you. Did you prepare some candy? (Yes.) OK. Why don’t the children come here? All the children. Then like that. Don’t tell anybody. Only for you, all right? All you’re children? Are you children too? (Thank You.) You’re welcome. Very, very welcome. The children first. It is OK. All gone. One, two, three! Yes. Whoever doesn’t have, come here. Children. Before they squeeze you out. Give me a kiss. You have? Do you have something? (Here, Master.) Do you have any yet? Come here. Why not? This one? Or that one? Here. OK, and you. What do you need? What do you want? This one or this one? Take one. Why not? Did you have some candies? Ah, come here. The crying session is over at the gate. Everybody cried already. Now, no more. What do you want? Left or right? Left or right? (Right.) Right. (Thank You, Master.) You look like King Sihanouk of Cambodia. Wholesale. (I’d like to give to my children.) Oh, yes, you can. One more. You didn’t tell me or I’d give you some candy. Anybody else? Come over quickly. Come down, come down. Anybody no? How are you? (Good.) (Thank You.) Too many, so what shall I do? Leave it. Everybody says the same thing. So, what happens now? Oh my God, I have trouble again here. What shall I do? OK, look here. I just say a name, like Jean. Is there anybody named Jean? Come here. I don’t know his name, all right? It’s just a coincidence. OK, all right. Don’t start, and then I will have no more things left. The other day I went to a party. And I bought a lot of presents for everybody. But then, still one more – not enough. So, she said she likes one of my rings. Oh, it’s OK. And then later another girl said she likes my umbrella so much. And then it was gone. And another one said, “Whoa, Your fan is so fancy! Can I have it?” And then it was also gone. And when I came home I was nearly naked! All right. Any questions? Please. Yes, what is it?(I find that my attention is scattered because I’m doing so many things. Like I have a full-time job, I have my own business, and also, I find that I’m doing music and recording.) Is that right? (That’s right. And it’s taking so much of my time and my concentration is affected. So is it wise if I want to continue my meditation as the first thing? Should I continue meditation only, without the music?) No, you do both. (Do both?) You do both. Yes. Actually, this doesn’t interfere with your concentration. You will find that the mind is always occupied anyhow with his “anything.” You are French or…? (I’m English.) OK. With anything. Even if you sit down all day long, you will find… OK, if you don’t believe me, you sit all day long one day, 24 hours, and you’ll find, even if you don’t do anything, the mind is still doing the thinking and the transmitting and the receiving of all kinds of environmental influence. So don’t worry about that.(Because when I’m doing music, I get caught up in just doing the music. I get so absorbed in it, and I find it’s affecting my concentration on meditation.) Whatever you do, it will affect your concentration. And if you don’t do anything, it also will affect your concentration. But what we do is, maybe sometimes, you go on retreat for a few days and put everything down. You don’t have to go to a mountain. Go anywhere that you can be alone, you can be kind of free of responsibilities and no telephone, no children, no wife, things like that, for a few days. (Right.) See if you improve. Or you go to some of our places, and just have a quiet time for a while. (OK.) But actually, you know what? In this world, we all have to do something, and music is already one of the best things. It’s very near to the inner Nature. (I’m getting encouragement from outside people saying that “your music’s very good,” and on one side I’m thinking it’s dragging me away into the worldly things.) No, no. (No?) Nothing is worldly. (Right.) Don’t worry about that. (OK.)(I have another question also.) Sure, sure. (Do different Masters of the Sound and Light Method have different degrees of power? They do?) Yes, they do. (Right. And do they take their disciples to different regions?) Different regions, yes. (They do.) If the Master has gone only up to the Third Region, then he can only take you up to the Third. (Right.) And if the Master Himself or Herself has already reached the Fifth Level of consciousness, of course He/She will take you up there. (Right.)(In the Eastern teachings, it says above the Fifth Level there are three sub-levels and the highest is the Nameless Region, or Anami Region. Do You know of these Regions?) The highest one? (The Nameless Region.) Yes, nameless one. (Yes.) Of course. (Right, then.) Of course. It’s a little bit boring there, so take it easy, don’t go there too early. (OK.) Since it’s nameless, what do we want to do there? We want to have a Master, we want to have fun, we want to enjoy. If you go to namelessness and nothingness, and emptiness, OK, you’re in trouble. Yes, yes, this is nothing. (Thank You, Master.) Actually, there are different descriptions for the Most High. And the Nameless Region, with many of the people, it could well have been the Fourth Level of consciousness, where it’s all dark and not interesting and something like that. So, be careful. Brother, have you finished with the questions? You want to ask some more? (Just one more, Master.) Yes, never mind, ask as many as you want. (OK.) I’m here for you. (You know there’s different groups practicing the same method, on the Light and Sound? Is it OK for us to go with that group also doing the same method or is it advisable to stay with our own group?) No, we don’t discriminate between any groups, even those other people who do not practice the same method as well, like Zen or breathing or any other things. But normally, people with the same mind and the same goal and the same kind of ideal, they have more affinity with each other, and when they sit together, it is stronger, that’s all. Instead of you sitting there and maybe…. If you are strong enough inside, it doesn’t matter where you sit and with whom. But sometimes, if you are not strong enough in the beginning, it’s better to stick with your own group. The same ideal, and same idea of what you’re doing. All right. (Yes.) That’s all. But, no problem.(But if the other group has the same goal in mind as well, with the same method, is it OK to practice within that group?) Of course, you can, if you don’t have other people around you, (Right.) if you don’t have fellow practitioners around you. You don’t? You’re alone? (I do, yes. But I’m thinking to put more time and effort) Oh, I understand. (into meditation.) You do as you feel comfortable. (All right.) I have no forbidden rules for this kind of things. All right? (OK, Thank You.) You may sit alone or you may find another group to sit with. (Right.) All right. (OK.) Anything else? Yeah.(I have friends who are practicing the Transcendental Method. Master, they have an ideal village…) Yes. (All the people in the village are vegetarian, children too.) All the people in what? (In the village, they have a village outside the city. All the people who live there, they are eating vegetables.) They are eating vegetarian? (Vegetarian, yes.) Belong to that group? (Yes.) Of course, they do, they’re Indian. All the Indian Masters eat vegetarian, even non-Masters eat vegetarian. You must know Indian people, 90% are vegetarian from birth because they’re Hindu. There’s no big deal about that. Because they took the vow of ahimsa. So, but that’s very good. But eating vegetarian doesn’t make you become God. All the cows and the rabbits eat vegan all their life, before they’re born. They don’t become anything. Vegan is just one aspect, to purify our heart, to develop more our loving attitude and loving inner quality to all beings. But that is not a condition to become a Buddha, to become enlightened. Enlightenment is far away from veganism. You got it? (I got it. Thank You.) You’re welcome.Every Master, every teacher has their job to do. And like the elementary teacher, high school teacher, college teacher, they’re all good. It depends on your own level, that you meet the appropriate Master. So, you can’t say which Master is good, which Master is no good. Good or no good is your own problem. Yes. Either you are not highly developed enough spiritually to meet a higher qualified Master, or either you are not sincere enough in (your) spiritual quest, that God has not sent you a real Master. So, you have to check your own inner quality and inner sincerity, not to check the Master. And then everything will be all right. Then a real Master, the Master that is according to your level, will come. Every person on this Earth, whether Master, teacher or anybody, has their own purpose in life and their own mission to fulfill. Everyone is God’s children, and everyone is God’s commissioner in different ways.(She’s asking, “When will You come to Poland, and that the people in Poland need Your presence.”) I’m not sure if they need me. (Yes!) Are you sure? (Yes! I’m sure.) All right, maybe later. Maybe next year I will plan a world tour again, all right? And then I will include Poland. Come, yes.(Dear Master, first of all, I have two things I want to thank You for. First, because I’m a very bad driver, and lately You saved me in a very difficult situation again.) Don’t do it again. (You know, I had an accident and I completely crashed my car. That was last year. And this year, I was doubling a very long vehicle and somebody came, and You saved me a second time. And this year again. A very strange accident happened, which really didn’t happen to me.) I think you better not drive again. (No, that was on the bicycle.) Give me your license and finish. Don’t just thank me. Just give me the license. (That’s what my husband says. But the other one was on a bike, on a bicycle.) On a bicycle, you still have accident? (Yes.) You’d better walk.(No, I didn’t have an accident, but almost. I was in the middle of a forest alone, riding on a road and suddenly a thunderstorm came, and I stopped for a little while on this road and suddenly, I heard a loud crash and a tree fell down across the road, a huge tree with no apparent reason whatsoever.) Terrible! (And it just crashed down. There was no storm. There was nothing, and I was about 300 meters away. And I thought, if I hadn’t stopped because it was thundering and starting to rain, I almost certainly would have been under this tree. And that’s what I wanted to thank You for.) You thank God. (And lately, I think somebody’s (looking) after me because…) Thank God. (Because I always have these near escapes, and I wanted really to thank You on that occasion.) Thanks God. (And secondly, I wanted to say just once, how much I admire You as a teacher, Your teaching qualities, because I’m a teacher myself. And I wanted, just needed to make You this compliment. Because I can see that in everything You do and how You teach and how You treat people and how You treat children and Your sense of humor and everything. And I just wanted to tell You this, that I admire You very, very much.) Thank you. (In this field.) Thank you. (Thank You, Master.) Thank you.I think I better lock you in the bathroom. And never let you go out of the door. But you never know, the ceiling may come down. Never mind, it’s all right. Whatever we will receive or whatever will happen to us is decided. And if God wants to take us away, nothing can stop it. If we are meant to live further to continue to do His work or to fulfill some purpose on Earth, then nothing can harm us. So, just go with freedom, and recite God’s Name, and go with love. And if the tree hits you, you kiss the tree “goodbye.” It’s all right. You should thank God for whatever happens to you. You should not thank me. I don’t know anything about it. Anything else? But it’s very good to hear that you always escape.

The Best Thing Is Enlightenment, Part 2 of 6

So just be normal. Just be normal and live according to intuition and whatever you think is right at that moment. As long as you don’t harm anyone, and whatever you do, bring happiness and benefit to other people, within the law.All right. You are from Switzerland? Is that right? You look like the one in Switzerland, she… (No, no, no.) OK, OK. (And last time I asked a question in London and you said to me, “Oh, there can’t be anything much wrong, you look so rosy.” And I was happy, because my name is Rose.) OK, OK. That’s a very good story. Here, one more rose for you. Sorry, sorry. Here. (Thank You, Master.) Congratulations for your many escapes. (Thank You, Master.) All right. (This is the happiest moment of my life. Thank You very much.) OK. No problem. So, the Rose with the roses. All right, anything else? I didn’t know your name. I can’t even know your nationality. You’re allowed two more questions, and finished!(Also, another question comes to mind.) No problem, no. (When we bless the food and then sometimes there’s some leftover, and we normally give it to the birds or something outside, is it OK? It’s OK.) It’s OK. Don’t be a fanatic. Just do whatever you do normally. (Right.) If you bury it in the earth, the worms will eat it. It is not the same? Or if you throw it somewhere else, then the ants will eat it, or the birds will come along. Or if you throw it anywhere, you can’t throw it out of the universe. So just be normal. Just be normal and live according to intuition and whatever you think is right at that moment. As long as you don’t harm anyone, and whatever you do, bring happiness and benefit to other people, within the law. And you don’t disclose your spiritual practice and higher level of consciousness just to boast around, then it’s all right. Only those things that we have relayed to you during the instructions of initiation; those you should take care. The rest is… just live your life. Just judge everything. Use your wisdom. That’s what you are enlightened for. (OK, thank You.) All right. Otherwise, if you are afraid, then you eat less. Don’t eat too much, then (there’s) leftovers and then you have trouble. Free yourself. Nothing is so bad about giving blessings to other people. I mean, you don’t do it on purpose. Not with ego, but it’s just a natural thing.Sometimes, I go to the coffee shop or something and many birds, they used to hang around, so I have to break some (vegan) cakes and give to them. What do you think? The bird come to me, perch in front of the opposite chair and just look at me asking for some (vegan) bread. Do you think I should be so stingy about blessing and then I would think about the karma and about all that, and then I tell him to go out? Just be logical and loving, in any situation. You do things with love, nothing will harm. You have to do it. You have to share, naturally. You walk on the road, you share the blessing. You look at other people, you share the blessing. You sit next to them in the bus, you share the blessing. It’s not the food alone. The air you breathe, it’s exchanged with millions, billions of people in this world. You can’t escape from sharing our inner happiness and inner joy and inner spiritual attainment with other beings. Whether you know it or not, you’re doing it every day, and that’s the good thing about being enlightened and being happy inside, because we can share. You see what I mean? So don’t fear. Just be loving and everything will be all right. Next.(I was wondering, when we have group meditations, if there is a problem somewhere, would it be good if at the beginning we would say, let’s meditate on this or this subject. If there is any other problem, and in the beginning of the group meditation we’d always say, “Look, there is this problem, could we all meditate together on it?” Is that a good thing, or is it better if everybody just meditates?) Well, it depends on what the group says. OK? I am very democratic. Whatever you think is good. Of course, it’s always good to pray for the world and other people. But whatever God’s will, shall be done. It’s good to pray for the enlightenment of all people. And especially those who are a little bit low level in consciousness, and who try to wage wars and profit for themselves at the expense of many lives and other innocent people. Of course, we have to pray and we should, if we can, if we want to. But otherwise, I tell you what: Everything is a theatre. It’s a suffering theatre, joy theatre, and all kinds of trick theatre. And one day, the play is over, and for us, the play is over. Just take a little time to close the curtain, and we’re finished. Other people, they still want to play, let them. OK? They will learn their lesson and they will be finished when their time comes. Yes?(Yes, I would like to know when You said, “All is theatre,” I do agree, but I wonder somehow, when the theatre is over, the curtain is down, what happens?) What happens? You go home. You don’t watch movies anymore, or you don’t play movies anymore. You don’t act anymore, you just go home, sleep, relax, do whatever you want. You don’t want to go home? You do? That’s what it is. And the other people continue to play in the theatre. Or to watch the theatre performance, but we’re finished. That’s right. (Thank You.) You’re welcome. Yes, behind there.(Twenty years ago, I saw Master’s transformation body. I asked the Inner Master to help me with many things. Many people came to me for help, and I asked the Inner Master to help. It was good, very effective. But since I received initiation last year, I stopped doing that.) What does that mean? What did he say? (I was initiated…) Oh, after initiation… (After initiation, I did not dare… Afterwards, a lot of people continued to ask me for help.) Help with what? (Help with their sufferings.) Oh? (Or sickness.) What? (Sickness.) Ah, sickness. (Yes.) You healed people, right? (Not me, I asked the Inner Master to help them.) Understand, understand. (It worked well.) Good. (Also, recently, when a disciple’s partner… She broke her leg, her bone, I also asked the Inner Master to help her, and it turned out well. So, my question is… In the future, can I continue to do this, to ask the Inner Master to help people?) It’s OK, it’s fine. (It’s OK?) Yes. (OK, thank You, Master.) You’re welcome. But you must meditate a lot more. (Yes, yes.) Ask Master to help, and don’t accept any offerings, gifts. (Never, I’ve never taken any rewards.) None at all, or the karma would be heavy. Then you’d have to bear it yourself, OK? (Yes, yes, OK.) Don’t take anything, just ask Master for help. If Master helps, that’s good; if not, that’s good too. (Yes.) Understand? (Understand.) Don’t agree to anything, don’t take anything, don’t do anything with your ego. (Yes, thank You, Master.) You’re welcome. It didn’t affect your meditation, right? (No, Master, my meditation is fine.) OK, that’s good. All right. OK?Are the Chinese happy? How about the French? All the French people are happy? I just have to be patient. All right. And good that I am in a very good mood today. After 24 hours without sleep. Well, I have to rush. I rushed these few days, so I didn’t sleep at all. Last night, almost none of us slept. We went to the Red Cross party in Monaco… all night. And then we came back late. And then we packed our things. And then we had to organize the airplane and all that kind of things. And then, we had to go. But, I think I will come back to Europe before going back to the Far East. So maybe you’ll see me again. Or maybe you organize the retreat place and then I’ll come. And then we’ll see each other again. So, don’t worry, OK? (Yes.) All right.I think I will take care of the European people a little bit more now, because I don’t take much care of you. I’m sorry. It’s very far. I’m lazy. You know that? Lazy to travel and I don’t know… I’m shy to see people, all kinds of things. And then also, one other thing is that I think you are all very good, and healthy, wealthy, and very intelligent. Then why should I have to come and tell you anything? I never worry about you. I think you’re OK. I think you’re going all right. I don’t know why you worry that you must see me and ask all these stupid questions. I think you all know the answers already. But anyhow, since it makes you happy to see me, I should just oblige now and again. All right? But the reason why I don’t come much is just because I think you’re growing OK. God takes care of you and you are progressing and you are enlightened and you are doing well, and there’s not much I can do for you. You know, except come here and shake hands, give you an apple. See? It’s very easy to be a Master, or not? Everybody can do that. Next time, maybe I’ll tell Yang to come. You want him to do that? (No.) No? Anybody can do that. Anybody can come just to shake hands and give apples. I just hire somebody. OK? Professional hand-shaker. And then you'll be happy. Anything else you want me to tell you or you ask me? That’s it.So, if no more questions then I think just have a quick look or good look or longer look. I’ll stand higher. Well, it doesn’t make much difference. You know whether I stand or sit it makes no difference. All right, you’re happy everyone? (Yes.) Time is short. I’m sorry that it’s not worth your airplane ticket, or bus ticket, or whatever. But I thought it’s better than nothing. Because I never know if I'll come back here again. Or I never know if I will be here in this world tomorrow or you will be here tomorrow or not, see? So, if I pass by I’ll let you see. All right. You find the place, all right? And I promise to come back to you again, and we have some retreat together if you want. If you want. If for one week it’s too much for you because of the work, then you make it three days or four days. All right? Try. Later if it goes well, maybe it will be more. Where are you from? Austria? Russia. All speak Chinese? Austrian people speak Chinese, I know that.(Could You enlighten somebody in my neighborhood? I’m all alone. I hardly ever go to group meditation because it’s almost four hours one-way.) I Understand. Maybe… (And there’s nobody near.) Yes. I mean you (go) once a while only, and you meditate with the Master at home. (Is that enough?) You have to enlighten them. You’re nearer than me. (Yes, Master.) (They don’t want vegetarian.) They don’t want? (I distribute the booklet and talk to them, and then they forgot about it.) They forgot about it. That’s the way it is. (So You must come.) Well if the time has not come, nothing we can do about it. All right? So, what shall we do now? I can’t just go up and down like this. How about let’s go outside and say goodbye outside. Yes, I remember And you said you’d be my first customer. All right. Let’s see if you have the figure for it. (Superman.) You will spoil our reputation. No, we think about it, OK? I’m thinking seriously of making my special, because it’s almost by hand. Everybody tells me I must make something. That’s nice. German? Switzerland. Let’s go out. I thank you.

The Best Thing Is Enlightenment, Part 3 of 6

So, make sure you know that you are good and pure, and you are with God. Then people will see that within you.(Do You speak French?) It is true. Everybody understands French here, yes? How are you, both of you? OK? Speak French or English? (French.) French. It’s good, huh? Meditation. Good, huh? I see some of you meditate very well. Just come to say hallo, and goodbye. Maybe we’ll see each other again. Enough place to sit here. A little bit, push, push. Your house is very big, that’s why you need to squeeze a bit. OK, now? My body is going somewhere tomorrow. My body left but my heart is here. Wow, that is very good. Any last question? The new people? (Yes, I have a question. It’s about my son. He’s seven years old and I would like to teach him how to pray, because he asked me about God and asked me about meditation.) So how did you teach him? (I told him to pray to God inside of himself. And he believes in God because he says so.) What’s the question? (The question is, when he asks me about meditation, I would like to give him some more ground, probably.) Why don’t you bring him for initiation? Simple, no? (Because when he stays with his father, his father feeds him meat. It’s very difficult for me in the middle. In this position, I can’t force (him) and he’s so young. I can’t really obligate…) So, what do you want me to do? Adopt your son? (Spiritually, but maybe…) You teach him as much as you can according to the circumstances. OK? And if you can, you can talk to the father of the son. And ask the son to talk to him about his heart's desire. Maybe the father will be touched and then come to a compromise. And you pray for him. Tell the son to pray for him, too. I’m very sorry about your situation. Many people meet the same fate as your son. That’s why the world is a mess, as it is. Yes, very, very difficult. Not only for your son, for me. Most of the people, even if they know that the vegan diet is good, they know that to follow God is good, they don’t follow. And they stop other people following as well. That’s why it’s very difficult for us. If you get on well with your ex, perhaps, is that right? Husband, is that right? And maybe you can talk to him and let the son be free to choose his way, even though he’s young, but he knows. Try your best. If your son is very firm in the belief, then maybe he will fight for himself. It’s very difficult. I wish I could decide for your son. But I can’t. It hurts. It hurts you. Talk to the father. OK? That’s why most of the teachers say, “Don’t get a divorce.” When you’re still married, it’s easier to talk. But you never know. OK? Try your best, and pray inside. Ask your son to pray for himself and talk lovingly to the husband. And the son is important. Tell the son, he must insist on his own right and his belief. Then it’s all right. Because every time, if the son is miserable then the father will understand. (I didn’t follow the last...) I forgot. If the son insists on his own right, and if every time when the father forces him to eat meat and fish and he’s miserable and he refuses, then the father finally must understand. In the end. All right. You use your wisdom and find the way for your son. Because I can’t tell you anything. I cannot tell you to leave him or to beat your husband. I can’t tell you really what to do. You have the wisdom, and your situation’s different. Your husband's personality is different. You try your best, OK? Try. All right? Don’t use violence. That’s all. OK. Any other questions? So quiet. This lady over there, She’s nice, eh? Sometimes, they take a nice picture of me. Most of the time. And then when people come to my Center, they ask me, “Where is the beautiful Master Ching Hai?” Ask me. They ask me where the beautiful Master Ching Hai is. I think, most of the time, people project their own image onto whatever they do. For example, some of the photographers, when they took my photo, my face looked square and big. And some other photographers, when they took my photographs, I looked slimmer and different. Yes. Whoever took my photo, you see my face looks like his. Very much. Yes, I have noticed this. And if some people think beautifully about me, they take my photo beautifully. And sometimes, if he himself is beautiful inside, then he takes my photo beautifully. And sometimes, when he’s not so good inside, he also takes my photo not so good. So, it’s better you don’t take the camera and take my photo, if you’re not sure of yourself. Because then, people will ask, “Who took this photo?” and then we’ll say, “Mr. B, Mr. C.” All right, any more questions? You?(It is true about the picture. When I was at the 7-day retreat in Taiwan [Formosa], I took some pictures of You, and at that time, I was, a bit nervous and angry. And on the picture, You were looking nervous and angry.) Yes, it’s true. It’s true, it’s true. Because I am the most photographed in our group, for over 10 years now. And I have very much experience with the people who take the photographs. Every time. It’s never failed. If one person takes a photograph, it always looks similar like that; and the other takes a photograph, it’s always the same. One person, he takes a photograph, I’m always moving, doing something. And it looks very terrible. He just took the one when it’s not good, or not a good angle and, not a good corner, from the bad angle, or bad air or bad light. Anything bad. One person takes photos when I always smile. Another person takes photos when I always scold. Another person takes photos when I always raise my hand in some different corner. Something like that. Always I saw that. So, I think people reflect their image in whatever they do. That’s why when someone is a saint, saintly inside, most people can feel it. So, even when they walk, the saintly person, when they walk, people see the difference. Even walking, not doing anything, just walking. Most of the time, it’s not me who advertises for myself. It is you, the people, who know and tell me about my greatness and all things like that. It’s OK among disciples, but sometimes for the strangers, they know too. They come and tell me who I am and all that, and what I do and my own greatness inside, etc., etc. And I don’t tell them anything. Nobody ever told them anything. Even some people meet me for the first time or second time, and they know nothing about us. They told me. I don’t know if I’m great, it’s just people tell me all the time. But me, I think I’m not very great. I think I’m not that great. One meter-fifty is nothing great. Especially this time, I went to Europe. Except for the disciples, nobody knew about me, because when I went out, I put on a lot of jewelry, flowers and looked like… anyone on the street. But many, many people came to me and greeted me and wanted to tell me that I’m a Saint and all that; scares me. Because I wanted to go incognito. But it’s not possible. Not for those who know. Even the first time they see, they know. So, I wanted to tell you this, not to be proud, but I just want you to know, that whatever we are inside, it’s difficult to hide. Even though we think not many people know, they do. Not everybody knows perhaps, but there are people who know. That’s why we have to make sure that we are pure inside. Because there are saints, there are people highly developed in this world. They know who we are. They know what we think inside, they know what we do. Even though they are not acquainted with our daily life, they know, they can see through. They can see through the clothes that you wear, it doesn’t matter how thick. They can see through all the makeup, it doesn’t matter how good quality the powder and the lipstick. They can see through everything. So, make sure you know that you are good and pure, and you are with God. Then people will see that within you.
